    I like that you included fruit and spinach. I always keep frozen broccoli in the freezer, so that would be two greens for me.
    I have a confession to make, I've never had kielbasa sausage. I don't know what it tastes like or how to use it😮. Oh
    I do a sausage rice with diced tomatoes, onion, green pepper, spices, but ive never thought about the noodles!
    And I've never had ground turkey either.

    I'm a single female teacher. My weekly budget is $40 so $36.65 before tax. I must keep some of that for Sunday lunch at restaurant after church with friends. Thus, I must be careful shopping at Walmart. I would love your suggestions and keep in mind easy lunch to take for work with only 20 minutes available.

    • @LauraLegge
      @LauraLegge  7 місяців тому +1

      Wraps are a great option for lunch! You can use chickpeas, tuna, chicken, or lunch meat and add tons of veggies (spinach, kale, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes). Or you can do burritos - beans, cheese, rice, etc. I just saw that ALDI has 6 wraps for $1.89 so that could work well for delicious lunches.
      For really small budgets, I like to buy things like beans, rice, lentils, and oats, and then a variety of fruit and veggies (whatever is on sale). Then I just use what I have in the pantry to create delicious meals (Seasonings, tomato sauce or ketchup, soy sauce, nut butters, nuts, dried fruit, etc).
      I have a few single person meal plans on my channel if you need some ideas! ☺️

    from the budgeting end of things - am wondering if folks budget for groceries depending on when they are paid - as a young senior I get “payed” once month so shop “a pantry shop” monthly at a discount grocery store (No Frills) then shop twice a month - also meal plan prep for two weeks cycle - I live within a very easy walk from a small mall with a big name grocery store (Metro) bulk food store and several other shops that have limited pantry stuffs - to save the bus / cab fare I stay in the neighbourhood and shop the sales - after 26 yrs here I know many of the full time staff esp the produce and meat dep’ts folks - love getting heads up on sales and help with cutting squash, cabbage, turnip etc - knowing I have to save at least $3.50 bus $25 cab - I really have found how to shop on a fixed income at a less than budget store - thanks for all you do to get these videos up and your family fed - keep safe and cool 🇨🇦🙏

      @@ej3016 that’s a really smart way to shop! We get steady pay every 2 weeks in my house so I try to stick to a monthly budget and split it into each week so I don’t waste produce. I have about 6 grocery stores within a mile and a half but after watching the ads the last 4 years in this city, I’ve discovered that only 2 stores have deals on things we buy, so that’s where I like to shop. I also love a Costco run but honestly, I end up way over spending every time I go 😅 so I try to do that only once every 3 months

    really did rewind to watch for the meal ideas / recipes 🤣😂 you did ask 😂🤣 could you show us how to read the labels (other than prices 🤦‍♀️) I live with food intolerances and many food restrictions - am afraid I only read the labels for “what’s not in the item” rather than for what’s actually in it - you did a shop where you ended up getting a new item for your family as the one on your list was not on the shelf (chickpea pasta) and you actually did a quick label read thru but it all went over my head and am afraid I don’t know which episode it was in - protein in pasta what the heck - so yes - reading labels would be immensely helpful - and yes - rewinding a third time and will keep my fingers away from the keypad 🤣😂 many thnx 🇨🇦🙏
