Think the only way to get a Paul McGann spin off to work is if it was a prequel to a story that is happening in the main show and make it a one-off event series rather than a on-going show. As a big fan of his audios, I’d love to see 8 back.

I have only heard a handful of his audio stories but he is really good. I can only imagine how great he would be on screen and I agree, that is probably the best way to approach it. Not sure how they can fit it into anything coming up soon but if they can I would love it

I’m sorry but a Paul Mcgann spin off would be amazing, considering we basically never got to see him play the character past the movie and his regeneration.
And I don’t accept the whole big finish stuff cause I’m not paying for podcast dr who.

It would be great but I want it done in a way where it wont interfere with the main show and im not sure how they will do that.

@@TheLaneDW I agree with Jake, Paul McGann is definitely one of the Doctors we haven't had anywhere near enough time with. It sounds pretty obvious to say, but Disney isn't throwing all this money at Who for a laugh. They want a return on their investment, and that means content, and they're not going to be satisfied with 8 episodes of content every year. I have a lot of confidence in RTD, he knows what he's doing, and there's a very good reason that he's got the job and we haven't!
I would love to see an Obi Wan style show for McGann. Give us some of his story in between the TV movie and his regeneration. Bring in some of his Big Finish companions and bring those characters to the screen, and that will bring a brand new audience back to the Big Finish back catalogue. I do appreciate that kind of format. For me, it doesn't need to be season after season of a show for it to be worth my while, and a 2 hour movie often isn't enough. One good, compelling, well written story paced over 3 episodes, or 6, is good enough for me. No fillers, no cliff hangers, just a good story, well told.
As for interfering with the main show, it really doesn't have to. Just look at what we have already, the Tales from the TARDIS series. That's something that has real potential, and it opens a lot of doors. As 7 said, "In some timelines, I regenerate. In others, I don't". I am up for a Tales from the Whoniverse series similar to Marvel's "What If" series. It's timey wimey, and it means we don't have to watch uncanny valley de-aged Peter Davidson, which I'm sure nobody wants.

While I get rolling your eyes at having to pay for big finish stuff I wholeheartedly disagree with you calling it "Podcast doctor who" - i mean seriously? _podcast_ doctor who? Audio dramas have existed for decades, I mean.. cabin pressure, Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy...
I do agree that they should be free to access on BBC though. I do have a couple of the audio dramas and i can confirm they are INCREDIBLY good, but i only have a couple because they're absolutely overpriced.

@@guy3854 potentially, I just think the timing isn’t great, once this new era has got going I am sure it will be fine

They need to tone down the wokeness or it'll flop harder than jodie whittaker

Im fine with doing progressive things but sometimes it is too forced for sure. I think rtd will have a good balance.

@TheDWLane yeah of course its always been progressive. I think the original rtd done it spot on and I hope it goes back to that format. The chibnall era was too much
