- Hello and Welcome to The Whoniverse, now due to popular demand I am going to make a full series of videos which will take an in depth look at each incarnation of the Doctor,
So in this video I’m going to be looking at the character known as the Second Doctor, this video will feature a look at the character’s identity and personality as well as a brief history or timeline of events and a look at the friends and foes he’s encountered all to answer the question: Who is the Second Doctor?
A Special Thanks to everyone who has worked on colourising images of the Second Doctor's era. - Фільми й анімація
The second Doctor - wearing bow ties before bow ties were cool.
Matt Smith actuary wanted to wear a bow tie because He watched Tomb of the Cybermen and loved it so much he wanted his Doctor to have one.
I was about to comment that
To late mate.
About 10months late
Correction: he wore bow ties to MAKE THEM COOL
The second Doctor is my all time favourite (Capaldi close second). My favourite moment is when him and Jamie try to hold Victoria's hand and end up holding each other's hand!
The is a funny moment
He’s My Doctor.
Patrick Troughton was natural actor who frequently adlibbed on stage and onset completely throwing other "by the book " actors ...So Dr.Who was an ideal medium for him ...if you watch some episodes he deliberately deviates from the script....but as there was no time for retakes it was kept in..
I have heard that. The funniest is in Tomb of the Cybermen when he and Jamie hold each other's hand thinking they are taking Victoria's hand.
"when i say Run You Run- RUN"
I think my all-time favorite Second Doctor story would have to be Enemy of the World!
Second doctor: oh I’ve regenerated......
I don’t like it
Oh! You never do!
(😉)
My favorite Second Doctor moment, well more than a moment, was in The Two Doctors when he was temporarily given Androgum genes and went on a walking trip with Shockeye in search of enormous amounts of food.
If we're doing all of the Doctor I can't wait for Eight
That was very well done.
I'm not surprised that the Time Lords forced the regeneration from the Second Doctor to the Third Doctor. Darn good, man. Cant't wait for the next 12 or thirteen incarnations!!!
Favourite story : The Tomb Of The Cybermen
Favourite Companion: Jamie
Favourite moment: The Doctor comforts Victoria (The Tomb Of The Cybermen)
Favourite Alien/Foe: The Cybermen
favorite story: The Invasion
favorite companion : Jamie
favorite moment: the Doctor speech "the universe breeds evil things that must be fought" (The Moonbase)
favorite aliens :the Krotons! (just kidding - the Daleks!)
barry smith That’s your opinion and I respect that
Thanks!
barry smith You’re welcome
Ah! I like this! Fellow Whovians who do not quarrel with each other!👍👍
I love all the stories I have seen of the 2nd Doctor. I just wish more of his stories could be found
Excellent stuff. Thorough and comprehensive. Cheers!
Thanks for the excellent video. I haven't seen any of the programs of the 2nd Doctor, so I appreciate the summary.
The Time Lords literally executed him for interfering, and than trapped him on Earth so he could keep interfering. I can't believe it took the doctor six lifetimes to realize the timelords were corrupt.
nope, if you watched 4th pyramids of mars, he said he renounced the society of time lords
But he didn't take six lifetimes to renounce the Timelords. That's why he stole an old Type-40 time machine from them and ran off with his granddaughter. This comment is stupid and the 10 people who thumbed it up must be stupid too...or at the very least not at all familiar with the show...
@@veteran0121 you must be great at parties
@@joshuajoestar5863 but it wasn't a joke or anything....
I really must watch Classic Who, and become familiar with the rest of Doctor Who prior too Chris Ecelstons Doctor
Well what’s stopping you
Many are on daily motion or you could get the dvds which are more than worth it for the behind the scenes stuff alone
Daily motion?
I would buy the DVDs, but a few too many for me to afford at present. I shall look into though
dude... fmovies. Or VipMovies.
Me too. I started with that doctor as well. Buy a vizio d32 series tv. There is a free 24/7 Doctor Who classic channel.
yes, you should
second doctor: *plays recorder* recorder: *squeaks* second doctor: whyyyyyyyyyyyy
Great idea! You gained a subscriber :)
Well this is awesome because I haven't known anything about the other doctors until NOW thanks man
Favourite Second Doctor story: The mind robber
Favourite companion: Zoe Heriot
Favourite Foe: Yeti
Favourite moment: Facing the Timelord- the war games
the second doctor had the most interesting run with main stay creatures and changing companions with the seasons wished most of the stories where still available to watch but his first season was mostly wiped from the BBC which made polly and Ben the most invisible companions he was with in the whole series but really loved the Jamie and Victoria year and this was dr who at its best
Agreed me old china...have a butcher's at some of the Polly and Ben telesnap recons...
I think the BBC regards most or all of Two's appearance in the later multi-Doctor broadcast stories (so far), to take place in a period between his sentencing and actually arriving on Earth, when he was working for a secret council of the Time Lords as an agent, allowing him to team up with Jamie again as well. (The Season 6b fan theory being thus canonized.)
Still, great episode! -- shall show it to my nieces eventually.
the two doctors, with a noticably 2nd, and a remote in his TARDIS console does seem to confirm this
@@julieeverett7442 Yes, it was the initial evidence for the Season 6b theory (or the initial data to be explained by a new theory, putting it another way.)
don't forget, the 2nd Doctor was the one to start the "i don't like it" joke that's still going on today!
P.T. was the first Doctor I saw, though being only about 5 or 6 I had just brief memories of some the stories although I remember the Doctor as very funny but also one I could trust would sort it all out at the end. Obviously I caught up on DVD later and he is my favourite Doctor although it is very sad that at the time of writing his stories have the most gaps! Still, it seems that episodes are still being recovered in Time and Space even now. So here's hoping!
thank you
I remember when I first started watching the show it was either Tom Baker or Peter Davidson was the two main Doctors at the time.
Will you be also do videos on the Valyard and the possibly future version who is (may be??) Merlin?
For someone who wants put the time in to watch all on new who, but not old who, (I’m at S1E12 right now, just started really) this really helps transition from Galifrey to Nine, thanks
Have you ever looked at the Second Doctor Sourcebook for the Doctor Who RPG? Great source for this type of video.
I know.He is the one of
'THE THREE STOGGES'
Thank you....... I remember the regeneration well. I was 10. Exciting TV.
Favorite story:enemy of the world
Favorite companion:Jamie
Favorite moment:the doctor talks to Victoria about family (tomb of the cybermen men)
Favorite alian:the cybermen
Worst story:the dominitors
Lovely video, but I'd wish for a bit louder and clearer spoken audio. Cheers, mate!
Just a couple of notes. You didn't place The Five Doctors or Day of The Doctor into the timeline (as you did with the first). Since the second was aware Jamie and Zoe had their memories wiped the time scooped incarnation had to be from the period of his first trial (but before his exile).
Steven Hilton
2nd Doctor: Hold on, Time Lords, before you exile me I'd just like to visit the Brigadier in his reunion!
Seriously, when the Doctor knew that Jamie and Zoe had their memories of him wiped, I was so confused.
Season 6b theory.
Basically, in the expanded media the doctor was grabbed by the C.I.A. and used as an agent with him being reunited with Jamie for the two doctors, then he was captured by disguised timelords and forced to regenerate
The 2nd doctor is great! One of the best! :D
fittingly the second best doctor. (capaldi is my favorite)
One of the best moments, most Iconic to me at least, and probably all whovians back in the day, was the moment when the Doctor was talking with the War Chief, and he says "I had every right to leave." This confirmed that the War Chief really was the same race as the Doctor, and it was the first time that had ever happened. It must have blown people's minds.
Yes this was before the Master, so it was mind blowing that he was from the same planet, but he wasn’t the first Time Lord he met during his adventures. That honor goes to the character of the Monk (who also had a TARDIS).
@@ThomQuinnHere Yeah, I'd forgotten about him. Thanks!
The battle in Scotland was at the village of Culloden, near Inverness. It is pronounced Cul-oden not as you said (similar to colander). The Gaelic name is Cùill Lodair so you can see the way that the word is split into it's pre Anglicised components.
Pls add the big finish stuff when you do the sixth so its not a 3 minute video lol . His real companion was Eveyln I think .
The Second Doctor.
Also I don't like to complain because I love your videos but is there a reason the volume is so low as I have trouble hearing your voice on all devices and it's sometimes troubling to watch your vids over even the quietest background noise😭
He's British, they have a tendency to whisper especially as they get older. Have to remember to put a megaphone in front of the microphone.
The very first time I saw him, I was thinking Moe of The three stooges?it took me a moment to realize he was not Moe from The three stooges.
Don’t think you mentioned saving galifrey with his 12 others selves, or you might just not mention that from now on
Tell me the sonic recorder isnt a thing.
no sonic records, but he did use the screw driver for the first time
He Who Pretends
I love the Second Doctor and his era, changed the show for the better. I just made an era overview video on my channel if anyone wants to check it out
were is who is the third doctor?
jon pertwee is 3rd
As many Who fans old and new(boo!!!) don’t know. All the favorites such as David Tennent, Matt Smith(LOL) and Tom Baker really wouldn’t exist without Troughton’s tenure. The Sonic Screwdriver, jelly babies, quick wit, comic timing, running and the sense of adventure and getting into trouble just for the sake of it has been established by Troughton alone.Just him being cast, it would begin a era that would both cement Doctor Who’s 26 season, 1996 movie, and the current series Legacy.
JNT wanted so badly to make Colin Baker’s 6th Doctor more of the 2nd but it really missed the mark. However, Sylvester McCoy’s portrayal of the 7th is honed via his memory of watching Troughton and it actually worked!!!
Now Troughton ‘s work is much more treasured as they are mostly destroyed and lost. The chances of his 3 season returning complete is slim, none and zero.
But anything can happen in the future.
correct
The character's name is "Doctor Who", not just "the Doctor".
My aunt saw the second doctor at the bus stop a lot (she worked at BBC) so go ask her ya noob
You pronounced Culloden wrong, it's pronounced Cull-awe-den.
