I bought my Bella on March. She had many broken stems so I propagate them in water in a western window. Then on May I put them in soil and I transfer the new plant outside on a northern Balkone. This one thrives, she becomes a little bit of morning sunlight and she blooms continually. The one that is inside suffers.. i live in Athens, Greece by the way. And we had for the past two weeks 46 Celsius degrees. No prob for Bella. Still blooming and growing
Dear Sean, thanks for the advice, my hoya bella is blooming right now , she is growing in Lechusa Pon in a self watering planter , under a cheap Amazon grow light on a shelf in my small NYC apartment, definitely the most baffling element in growing houseplants is the light!
Mine does not smell of honey more like a lovely perfume Suttle Jasmin. Mine has flowered constantly for over 1 1/2 year with several blooms at the time often over 10. She is my absolute favorite of them all. She delivers beauty for the nose and eyes
Hello, could you tell shortly in which conditions you grow your hoya bella? I had many, many ones in the last ten years but they all decline at one point and I don't know why. There are also a lot of confusing, contradictory informations (more/less watering, soil, etc.) that it has been hard for me to rely on informations. I would be glad if you could tell me, thank you in advance if you do so.
My Bella hangs in western window. Non-stop bloomer 🤩 just got some freezing time in winter when I forgot to close (partially opened) window when there was -20C outside 😂 she was totally fine to hang near partially opened window when there was -5-0C degrees outside and 18-20C degrees inside. I didn't provide extra light for winter time. She is thriving 😊
I enjoyed watching😌🙏💖I also grow Hoya bella (beautiful)😊💞Thanks for the translation👌💖I have two propagations doing well and I recently repotted the mother plant and it has many peduncles🙌
I got the Hoya Bella because my daughters name is Bella (Isabella). I have to keep my Hoya Bella in moss because any other mediums just don’t work for me. I never let the moss full dry out. Also in a northern facing window. That just seems to work best for me right now. After a year it is finally putting out peduncles so hopefully I will get to see some blooms soon. I’m so excited 😆
Change water every 2-3 weeks The ones in soil I water it lightly every day. Do not drown it in water though, it can rot. And dont let it go critically dry for too long either
@@onlyplants thanks a lot, I will be leaving on vacation and my hoya bella got dry rot so I was wondering about the best method to propagate it since I wont be home. I guess Ill put them in water :)
I had four small cuttings and put them in a nursery pot and placed it into a zip lock bag until it rooted. I let it grow for a few months but then it was attacked by spider mites. 😪 Thanks cold, dry Canadian winter. It took awhile but I got rid of them, and poor Bella lost some leaves. My daughter gave me a hanging pot so I put it in my southwest window and Bella grew and grew. Then It started making a peduncle and now it has five more coming! We haven't had as many sunny days as usual so I really don't know what triggered the plant to bloom. I think it just likes hanging with its buddies, the string of pearls and the string of hearts. 😆
❤️❤️❤️Hm I propagate some in perlite half died off. The other barely rooted. That could due to the fact I was using plastic container which is almost semi transparent. I bought proper propagation boxes with clear doom. That could make a huge different. I am getting another Bella and surely want to chop it. I rather have a fuller pot than just one plant. 😜👍
A local online marketplace in Indonesia. But any online marketplace should have if you search clear plastic pot 😀 if it help I think the diameter was 5cm
Need your thoughts on planting both Hoya shooting stars and Hoya Magnifica in one pot. I read that they’re both fast grower and don’t require small tight pots.
Ive actually seen it more succulent. This probably means they are happier. Usually a bit of water stress will encourage the plant to store more water, causing it to plump up.
Hi. Not sure if the Hoya bella flowered for you yet. But the trick is to put it lower light (northwest or northeast winodw). And for the plant to get lower temperature at night.
Ooo I forgot to show an update on that, its doing alright but it dries up soooo darn fast I have to water it daily. Leaves will limp up if I forget even one day. The husk is better for thick leafed hoyas or dischidias that love drought periods
@@bonificent3138 My polyneura fully rooted in a week inside a ziploc humidity tent. I just add damp soil, placed cutting on top, sealed bag and placed it under my growlights for 12 hours a day. It started to grow leaves already too! Super fast!
Actually… If I may be honest, a lot of my hoyas have bloomed before but I cannot smell any of them 😅 perhaps this is because I deal with essential oils often at work and my nose is desensitized…
my problem with growing hoyas in big coconut husks is that if they get root mealey bugs its very hard to notice. I had a couple of hoyas in big coco husks and when I removed a small part of it off, saw some root mealey bugs =( It was a pain to remove that husk from the roots on my hoya. Ended up having to reroot both plants =(
What I did for mine is I transferred the hoyas to a very airy soiless mix. (Coco fibers, pumice, chr, bark, ground up acasia leaves and a little vermicast) I also use it for propagations 😊 I do agree hoyas love coco husk 🌿 Unfortunately mine had root mealey bugs 😔
One of my favorite plants. Also love the few variegated varieties!
Its an impressive Hoya variety! Love your advice on propagation! 💖
I just bought my first Hoya Bella, she is so lovely. So this video is right on time, thank you!
Thank you Shaun , this is most useful. And I like your propagation tray.
She's my favorite Hoya so far.Happy growing and stay safe.
Very understated beauty 😀

Wooo, they do like cooler climates and dont require high humidity.
I love this video thank u so much 🙏 where did u get the small pots from? Thanks in advance ❤
I bought them online in indonesia 😀
Mine blooms indoors under a skylight. It took some time before it started blooming. It's a beautiful Hoya💕
I have a couple of plants and have 2 cute batches of flowers!! They are looking really good.

I need to stop propagating mine and enjoy blooms for once haha thank you

Whoaaa I need to try moss for these. You are right they hate to dry out completely, but cannot stand too much water either
@@onlyplants oh yes definitely give it a try. It has saved my Hoya Bella and helped it to thrive.
Oh and I have some perlite mixed in too! ☺️
Interesting video. Flowers of my Hoya bell smell like cinnamon :)
Cant wait for mine to flower 🥰
So sorry about little Josie :(
☹️
Thanks for the update!!
Este muchacho vive en un paraíso.
Awwww, RIP Josie

I just got a free cutting!!! Hope i can make it grow. My best props are just sticking them in the mix.
Thank you. Another learning ❤
😀
Great info!
One of my fave Hoya
Thank you for the video! How often do you have to change the water of the ones in water, and how often do you need to water the ones in soil?
Change water every 2-3 weeks
The ones in soil I water it lightly every day. Do not drown it in water though, it can rot. And dont let it go critically dry for too long either

How did you get rid of them? I know bellas are very prone to mites
Mudah-mudahan suatu saat bisa gerebek tanamannya onlyplant ke Jakarta..bikin konten bareng hehe
😀
Mine is currently in bloom, and the flowers do smell slightly of honey! My best comparison would be the perfume "Honey" by Marc Jacobs.
Someone should make perfume out of hoya flowers 😀 it would smell so good.
Where did you get those little clear pots you used to hold the hoya propagations?
A local online marketplace in Indonesia. But any online marketplace should have if you search clear plastic pot 😀 if it help I think the diameter was 5cm
Another video?? I'm still watching your plant tour one 😅😬
Haha some of these were pre-uploaded 😅
Need your thoughts on planting both Hoya shooting stars and Hoya Magnifica in one pot. I read that they’re both fast grower and don’t require small tight pots.
I dont have both 😅 but for hoyas I always recommend tight pots.
It is normal for this hoya to have a very hard and succulent leave?
Ive actually seen it more succulent. This probably means they are happier. Usually a bit of water stress will encourage the plant to store more water, causing it to plump up.

My hoya bella cutting got a flower after only three months. mad med very happy.

ooh, I’m beginning to love hoyas now because of your videos. btw are you in your new house already? i’m excited for your next video!
Yeahhh this weeks video is on the new house 😀
How do you water the propogations? Do you bottom water them?
I squirt water from a squirt bottle 😀
Love your videos! Curious where you bought your propagation tray/ clear containers?
All online on local marketplaxe 😀
Love your videos💚 What happened to the one propagated in coco husk?
I forgot to update it! Haha it did well and I actually propagated from that vine. But it does dry out faster and require daily watering
Danke ❤
Rip little josie 💔 How did the coco husk props turn out? I have a variegated one that’s growing surprisingly quickly.
Ooo I forgot to show an update on that, its doing alright but it dries up soooo darn fast I have to water it daily. Leaves will limp up if I forget even one day. The husk is better for thick leafed hoyas or dischidias that love drought periods
@@onlyplants good to know, thanks 😁
I bought a hoya bella today and I noticed the tips are cut. Is it going to grow and still produce flowers?
Yep in fact it should branch out in lower nodes. Give it some time
@@onlyplants That's reassuring. Thank you!
Hi Sean! Have you ever tried propagating hoyas in perlite? I have find that its a fast and successful method to propagate hoyas :)
Would it work for polynura??? I'm struggling!
@@bonificent3138 My polyneura fully rooted in a week inside a ziploc humidity tent. I just add damp soil, placed cutting on top, sealed bag and placed it under my growlights for 12 hours a day. It started to grow leaves already too! Super fast!
These days I stick hoyas right into soil. They take off so fast and almost 100% success rate. No need to change media ever 😀
@@onlyplants so lucky! Every time I try to propagate directly in soil, my cuttings rot in a few days u_u
would you have a video on Xerosicyos Danguyi 'Silver Dollar Vine'? 🥺
Already filmed one! Its queued to go live on youtube.

Wow😍

Before propagating we should dry the cuttings at least for one day in order to dry the wounds and make a perfect propagation.
You can but I never do 😀
