Thank you for the great video!!! I purchased this knife after your review. I was surprised how thin the blade was, and super sharp! I love it. Thank you again.
I think one of the reasons they use Grivory is to keep weight down, but it feels cheap in the hand and would rather see it in carbon fiber or something. Also I like CPM 154, but I think this knife should be 40 to 50 dollars cheaper for what it is
@@mikerollins3088 true, I don't like the way grivory feels in hand. The steel is fine with me, but as always with benchmade you pay the butterfly tax. Their prices are getting ridiculous compared to some of the other manufacturers.
That's a pretty cool looking knife. I'm a fan of CPM 154. It has well balanced attributes. It has really good toughness, edge retention, corrosion resistance, and sharpenability. That bowie shape is a little more versatile than most other blade shapes as well, and that slightly extended finger guard is great too. I think the taggedout is far better than the bug out.
Thanks for the review. I've wanted one but been on the fence about it. Seeing it next to the bugouts shows the difference I needed to see. Good to see it w the Para 2&3! Ty!!! I'll go check it out @ the shop!
Hunter’s sure going to love that blade and the overall size will work well also for cleaning game. The orange is nice to have when in the woods, makes it much easier to find when you lay it down. Another great vid!
Thank you for sharing. I too really need to have a knife in hand, and I can't tell you how many knives I have purchased over the years, and I did not like how they were in hand. I have not had a Benchmade, in over ten years. This one looks nice, reminds me of a smaller, lighter Crooked River knife. I stumbled across your channel, and I will watch and collect knives vicariously through you. This is what I do with the knife channels I subscribe to. My daily carries are actually a fixed blade from BGM Knives, my Emerson, and SAK Handyman.
Another knife?!?!?! Damn gurl you got so many knives....i love the Jack Wolf new knife you got, im gonna buy the same color, love green and purple, although the blue one is nice too.
One busy girl 👍. I thought the kizer asassin came pretty good if you like the comspirator it’s kinda like that but no button stick 🤮,well , it makes a noise but it will be polished out . They all need it imo .
If they release it with a CF elite handle I will have trouble resisting a purchase, even though it's at least $50 overpriced for CPM 154. As far as the edge goes, I believe they have moved from free hand sharpening, which depends on the skill and focus of the individual, to a fixed angle sharpening system for consistency.
The scales are polymer! And everyone say polymer feels cheap like plastic but then they turn around and buy a $1k polymer pistol 🥴 I love my tagged out! Awesome video!
The blade is so thin. I think that is one of the strong attributes of that knife. The steel is suited for purpose, easy to sharpen in the field, fairly strong, decently tough and corrosion resistant. A steel that is suited for hunting and game processing. For all intents and purposes, a ridiculous Edge retention steel is not a priority in that kind of hunting purposes. Most materials that this knife presumably would cut are soft hence edge retention would take a lesser priority in favour of strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. That is a smart steel choice IMHO.
I like this better than the bug out in design. It like the girth of the handle. I think I’ll buy it and just give it a test ride. I love stickers too! 😃
I just got my first Benchmade, Mini Adamas, and it has a liiiiiittttle bit of blade play and came a little off center but when I try to tighten the pivot screw just a bit it was stiff to the point where it wasn't opening at all. So I put it back to where it was, but I still love this knife.
I’m right there with you on the QC. Spyderco has offerings at same price points and I’ve never had centering issues. Benchmade seems to have had a bad spell with bezel grinds and centering. They still make great stuff and I have a few from the 90’s.
Really good video thanks :) Have you ever looked at quiet carry knives? I think you will love quiet carry drift. I have myself a drift and a waypoint and chase es :) best knives a have in my collection :D
The Drift is way underrated imo. A little expensive but totally worth it if you live on the coast or spend a lot of time on the water. It has a great blade shape and thin grind too. Basically maintenance free, Awesome knife
CPM 154 is really easy to sharpen compared to S30v, and it will get a much finer edge than S30v because it doesn't have vanadium carbides, however the vanadium carbides are what give S30v a longer lasting working edge.
I was living under a rock... I just discovered the cost of Benchmade knives where I live & dang, it may as well be Monopoly money! As nice as they look, they are all beyond what I'm willing to invest from a pratical sense.
I'm not a fan of a knife without full liners. Having said that I was really disappointed in the last Benchmade I purchased. QC needs to get better for the price they charge.
I like the design but not really the cpm 154. Was going to try one anyway but then I saw there ht spec on it, 58-61 is a no go. That range is way to big, some will get some great cpm 154 @ 61 and some will get some terrible cpm 154 @ 58. It should be ran at 61-62 and this is my opinion why it didn't sell out everywhere like they probably thought it would. Yes as a package opener it will be just fine, but take it into the woods and use it at 58 rc it will dull very quickly.
It’s a skinner, it’s meant for hunting and processing meat. GREAT shape for processing game. Hence the name. And color. I’m sure some non hunters will enjoy it, but that’s not who it’s marketed towards. Great review. I’ll probly pick this up for my December coues hunt on the change I “Tag Out” 😊
Sorry no ma'am, could be The Most Fabulous Thing from Time Bandits, I'll give em how they try to sometimes end model name with -out, not worried about the Benchmade company's future
Blue is the worst color for the woods . Usually setting still is most or being up in a tree . They hardly ever look up. One time a little black bear climbed right up my tree stand and didn’t know I was there . He /she slowly backed down . I ll never forget that and a few other things that have happened over the years .
Love the blade shape, hole instead of studs, CPM154, looking like a great knife but grivory? No thanks. Especially with just a cartridge liner. I don't know why they have such an aversion to G10, I wish they would offer everything they want to in grivory with an alternate option. Micarta would be fantastic on that, or G10 for easier clean up.
It's all marketed towards hunters, that's why. Grivory is lighter than G10 and is also easier to clean than both it and micarta. Lightweight is the name of the game when you're talking about hunting. Same thing with the Bugout. It was meant to be an insanely lightweight knife, and grviory does that. Now granted, I have no issues with G10 or micarta and obviously prefer them both greatly. I also don't do any backpacking or hunting right now so I'm not in those situations enough to notice weight differences anyway, BUT I do carry multiple knives everyday and never have had a weight issue with any
Benchmade has most certainly had their share of quality control problems. I think most of that is in the past, thankfully. Its hard to justify the Butterfly tax when you can't cut butter with the knife. I got a brand new 940 that way. Put me off of buying Benchmade for 10+ years.
I feel like we GOTTA talk about the marketing elephant in the room with them. Whomever at benchmade who is naming these knives brain MUST be broken, cause they're just God awful . . .
your first impression cant change. thats not a possible thing. your impression overall changed. but not your first impression. you cant go back and time and change your first impression
Bugout and Crooked River had a baby!
Could not get over the weight, great carry knife!
Right? Super light weight. And wicked sharp!
I’m in the SW (AZ) and weather is perfect right now. I’d rock the tagged out.👍🏻
Thank you for the great video!!!
I purchased this knife after your review. I was surprised how thin the blade was, and super sharp! I love it. Thank you again.
Very nice >>>>>> Thank you
Thank you for watching!
I'm definitely going to grab one and then get some different scales to put on it when they come out.

A guy called VotixEDC sells them since today on Etsy. Green Micarta and Carbon Fibre ones. They seem pretty nice.

It's definitely a slept on blade steel!
I like it. I do a lot of backpacking and I won't loose it.🌹
Awesome. Wish it had different blade steel. But CPM 154 isn’t bad.
They probably chose a more stainless steel for hunters
I appreciate you cut something with it, most reviews don’t even cut some paper in the video . Thanks for that.
Thanks for the review. I've wanted one but been on the fence about it. Seeing it next to the bugouts shows the difference I needed to see. Good to see it w the Para 2&3! Ty!!! I'll go check it out @ the shop!
Glad it helped! And thank you for watching!
Thats awesome that Blade HQ is working with you!
That’s a good around the camp knife and edc. Sweet.
benchmade does such a nice stonewash
Great looking knife! I like the larger size! I think that would be a great Christmas gift!!
Love the video!! Just started my journey in the knife world and definitely put this one on my every growing list.
I think it's a really cool knife. Nice blade, shape and size, steel, and I like the orange too.
Hunter’s sure going to love that blade and the overall size will work well also for cleaning game. The orange is nice to have when in the woods, makes it much easier to find when you lay it down. Another great vid!
Thank you for watching!!
Was picturing this being way bigger than it is. Once you put that PM2 next to it, I was sold
Looks like a great knife. Love your reviews, awesome job!
Thank you!!🙌🏻
@@carry_everyday_9619 do you keep it to just retractable blades, or do you like one-piece knives as well?

omg I have the Magnum Forest Ranger with 440.. good blade shape for cutting down
Cool knife reminds me of LW crooked River , think that blade with hole would be sweet on the crooked River . Thanks for video
Love the blade shape but like others have said, I’ll pick one up once the aftermarket scales come out.
Very first ones are actually out since today (on Etsy.) Green Micarta and carbon fiber. Look up VotixEDC on there
Very well done blade sister, awesome blade, great video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Better every day. Thanks!

I’ve been fortunate enough to have some of these knives sent to me for reviews! I couldn’t buy all of these myself😂😂

How rigid are the scales? The scales were a bit weak on the standard bugout and I upgraded to g10.
I. Too got involved in EDC. THROUGH
BENCHMADE. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE LIFESHARP WARRANTY. Free tune ups with sharpening !
Looks cool! I prefer thumb studs to the opening hole, but I like the bigger blade.
Thumbstuds would get in the way when cutting as this is a hunting knife
Good looking blade shape.. I appreciate the thumb hole instead of a stud. Sometimes the stud gets in the way of sharpening
The handles appear to be very similar to the claymore. Very nice knife.

another nice 👌 and informative review 👍
Perfect knife for skinning medium to large game without being a half pound of weight.
Been wanting a bugout with a Crooked river blade forever. Cant wait to try out their select 14 or 17 edge.
What do you think about coldsteel? Like the broken skull or the airlite
Would've loved to see it in CPM Magnacut!
Very cool, dose the handle have any flex like the grivory bugout handles?
I can cause a little bit of flex pressing down on the scales, but not too bad!
Thx for thisin depth first impression video! Six months in, would you say that this knife found a place in your rotation?
Enjoy your channel. Thank you. It would be interesting to see a video on what you personally use for knife maintenance/care and sharpening.

nice review, I would like to add this knife to my edc collection.
Thank you!
for extra 10$ you can get the giant mouse jutland, with full steel liners, orange g10 and m390 blade steel. action is perfect right out of the box
Nice review!

welcome to benchmade
I wonder if you could blade swap with a mini crooked river
Do you prefer this tagged out or the bugout?
Stupid question, since it is light and has a plastic handle, is there enough mass/volume of the handle that it‘s able to float in water?
I’m right there with you on the QC. Spyderco has offerings at same price points and I’ve never had centering issues. Benchmade seems to have had a bad spell with bezel grinds and centering. They still make great stuff and I have a few from the 90’s.
Benchmade is pricey but their customer service is top notch. Spyderco has trash customer service and warranty.

At 0.090 thick blade steel it would be a good slicer, I think it would be a good meal prep knife at camp also. 👍
Just for fun it would be cool if the did a black blade with cf elite scales. I didn’t realize it was that big , thanks
I have ONE CON about this knife!
It doesn't want to come to my countries shops fast enough 😂😂
Picked up my first bugout a couple weeks ago. It's stiff as a freakin board
Been trying to break it in but it's so stiff to close. What can I do?
Idk if the Tag out for me, too hard to sharpen. The Bugout just makes more sense imo.
CPM 154 is really easy to sharpen compared to S30v, and it will get a much finer edge than S30v because it doesn't have vanadium carbides, however the vanadium carbides are what give S30v a longer lasting working edge.

Plastic handles + CPM154 does not = $171. The butterfly tax is strong with this one.

Don't waist on those plastic fancy benches. You may buy two Buck 110 slim pro with 30SV blade instead.
