- Shout out to @BladeHQ for the awesome mail call. Here's my thoughts on the knives in the box.

The victorinox is the classic SD Alox in aluminum, not the mini champ. My bad. Habit of saying mini champ😅
Fun fact: From 1908 to 2005, the delivery of knives to the Swiss Armed Forces was shared by Victorinox and Wenger. A compromise between the two companies stated that Victorinox would market their knives as the "Original Swiss Army Knives", while Wenger would market theirs as "Genuine Swiss Army Knives". Wenger was acquired by Victorinox in 2005. If I see a Wenger, like at a yard sale or flee market I almost always buy it. Wenger has a white cross surrounded in red while Victorinox has the cross surrounded by what looks like a shield.🤓

Thanks for sharing. talk about voctorinox. I've been wearing my first SwissChamp for 37 years. after daily use he was ready for a pension. But I knew about a lifetime warranty, seen through you tube factory tour. so i sent it to switzerland. my knife was 95% worn out from intensive use. what did the factory do. Didn't get a new one which is cheap and the easiest solution. But they have a doctor's surgery ward. my knife has been completely renewed there for 95%, but the base is still in my knife. it is now as good as new. and yet my own knife. whooooow that's what i call service. and the factory paid for the return trip of the knife
I would choose the Chaves, definitely a fan of stonewashed titanium and that style blade. The Apex is cool, but less my style personally. 👍🏻

Everyone is going nuts on the SBD Apex, and I love the blade profile, but don’t get it otherwise. The red black handle looks like a $40 Civivi. But maybe I’m missing something. I think I’ll have to just get one to see what the fuss is all about. Love the Chaves/Reate knives and am up to 8 of them now half in G10. Glad to see they just brought back the big Redención 229. The hardest part in buying one is deciding whether to get full Ti or G10 on the show side. The G10 feels better but the Ti looks cool. I prefer the skull clip actually; the other clip looks like a duck. 😉 I buzzed that end of the blade with a Kraytex bit to smooth it out a bit, good catch. Thanks for the unboxing look. 👍
Really liking this 229! Glad to finally try it out. And haha I’m glad I’m not the only one that felt the sharpness! Glad you made yours more comfortable for yourself. And you know my vote… ti show side!

I would probably choose the Chavez. Specifically the one with the wharncliffe blade

I love your review/ commenting especially when you say you like or dislike something and then elaborate the reasons. For me a SAK needs scissors tweezers and a slot for pin, in addition to basic stuff. Been using a 110mm size w pliers for multi-tool.

Definitely the Chaves. Altho I would prefer the wharncliffe blade on the Sangre.
I am fortunate enough to have 2 pretty well stocked knife stores in my immediate area. There are occasions when they don't carry what I'm after so I go to the internet. I always deal with Blade HQ. One bad experience with another outfit a few years back led me to look elsewhere. I had seen BHQ mention on the web here and there and decided to give them a try. I placed an order really early on Thursday morning from Tennessee. It was in my box Saturday morning. It's almost like they hand delivered it. I haven't ordered from anyone else since.
Oh, I love the Chaves. Absolutely a grail knife for me!

Have victorinox camo sd in key ring pouch on car keys and the wenger version on my kneck also have translucent red victorinox on display in collection. Cool stuff ce.

I would very much like to get my hands on a Liberation with a Tanto blade. Normally I shy away from Tanto's but on this design I think it would be the right thing to do.

I have the Redencion full Ti with the tanto blade. Nice change from drop point.
I've got a tanto Apex front flipper and have used it a lot already. The clip hasn't been a hotspot at all for me surprisingly, but it does make the knife sit weird in my pocket.
Love that Victorinox. I just bought the large Explorer (stays in my handbag everyday) and have a small Classic on my keychain.

Very nice great looking knives! I like the red one! I carry a Classis SD everyday! Manly for the scissors ✂️! My wife always has a loose string I need cut off those little scissors work great!!!

I have the 229 only I chose the tanto because it comes with a hollow grind.

My 229 liberation is in on its way now. I keep hearing good things about it 😁 I’ll see if closing the knife is an issue for me, but it’s so cool looking I don’t think I’ll mind
The Victorinox nail clip is my fave Victorinox. Check it out. Super useful and the scissors are higher quality on that model.

@@carry_everyday_9619 Just a little FYI: Swiss army nail clippers do not have a blade. At least My Wenger(Prior to 2005) doesn't. And yes, they are really handy to have.

No front flippers for me but to each his own. Looks like good action though! I've used blade HQ for many years. They're pretty good company! I like the liberation knife. Thumb studs are cool..
Have a chaves liberation and redención. Both have that sharp bit that you are talking about. I noticed it as well, but have not found it quite as annoying as you have. Nice video!
Love BHQ there one of the reasons l was able to snag a Deadlock!! Won't get it till the end of November But love that they offer free 2day shipping and have a layaway option! That really helps out when you're buying more expensive pieces and several pieces. 👊🏼

I'd choose the Chaves because I think it fits a little bit better into the hand. Victorinox Minichamp Alox at the office everyday. The perfect little helper.

I agree . Pokey flippers don’t make for good fidget knives with the constant point hitting the thumb can become irritating imo . I would choose the apex

I think the liberation is going to be my next purchase but I have been on a hard knife bender the last couple of weeks so I need to wait a bit. I have bought 3 hinderer eklipses just this week
The Chavez appears to be a very well made knife that would provide a life-time of use. But for ECD, I would choose the SA knife because of its ability to disappear in my pocket and do what I would need as a city dweller on a daily basis.

You gotta get BHQ to send ja a Squid balisong to try out. Started out a blade lover, but balisong flippin takes that love up another notch
I do eventually want to try a Balisong. I have decent hand eye coordination so I’m interested to try it out
What was you first favorite edc and when did you start carrying it. Mine was a buck knive. Brass and wood lock blade 3"
Mini bugout was my first “EDC” good knife. Prior to that it was non name brand knives
The BUCK 112, I Believe, is the 3". The Buck 110 is the larger one, I think. 🤓

I’d choose the Chaves 100. I’m just not a fan of most futuristic knives in the looks department. Funny thing though. I love skulls. But on a knife I think that clip looks tacky! But the added clip seems to be terrible too. So my lazy butt would likely keep the skull. 😂

Have you ever checked out the Maxace Kestrel?? I have one in mokume-gane, weighs a ton but I like it. It is a front flipper like Apex.

If you had to pick between the two, which would you pick? Apex or 229?
I’ve noticed that I prefer knives that have internal milling (like the Arius) because it cuts down on the weight. Any suggestions for me to check out with that in mind?
Without the benefit of holding them, I’d go apex.
First thought, apex but I think I would actually choose the Chaves. Carrying it just feels awesome and it’s such a tank of a knife. As far as cut outs for weight reduction the mcnees mac 2 has some nice weight reduction ti scales
I am a sucker for the futuristic look and the apex has me hooked. If these were within my range I for sure would be rotating them through the week. Great review Kaylie!

the clip is quite nice, but it would be better in black, you're right...
Is that Spyder Para 3 so good as many say? For me it looks a bit.. stubby.
Also with a front flippy you don't get any finger prints on the blade while opening!

Hate to say it, don't like either knife. The SBD looks like something made for a teenager and the Chaves is just too heavy. So many great knives to choose from, so I'll skip these. Enjoyed the video.

I have knives I don’t like, don’t really care as much to make videos on those. I try to be a positive person. I sell what I don’t like. Eventually I may, but I just don’t tend to keep knives I don’t like.
