I got this rifle as a present. It looks legit from 10 feet away, but when you actually handle it, its far from AR15 function. Its all plastic and its very light so its not really a viable AR training rifle. However, it is very inexpensive and it shoots cheap ammo. It is what it is
I've got got the 715t I've had no issues with it I carry it in my boat on my four wheeler it fires everytime if you don't like it sell it
Had mine for over a year. Clean daily. Shot over 2000 rounds. Accurate as he'll, and even better it's really quiet
I know I'm late to the comment party but I JUST started plinking with .22s. Picked up a 702 & 715t the other day. The sights were incredibly loose. All I did was take it apart and add teflon tape to both the elevation & windage screws and that took care of that!
Huh. A standard ar15 has 94 parts, give or take. The only part that is sorta the same as an AR15 is the collapsible stock.. So, 1.08%?
you can get the 25 round mags at Academy Sports for around 25-30 dollars. Good little pinkster and fun to shoot with the kids. thanks for the video.
oh.... and new sub here.
I just ordered one of these on Wednesday on sale for $159.95 from Palmetto State Armory. That's a killer price & I was not able to pass that up. I got the carry handle model, the flat top model costs more.
mine came with a 25 round mag to its all about your local or state laws usually , that's prolly the reason yours is a 10 round
had mine for a month. only issue I've had is low velocity ammo jams all the time but that's it. keep it clean and this gun is a blast to own.
Take the gun apart file down the ejector on a stepper angle the ejector is held down with 1scew make sure it's tight do not over tighten. When you put it back together it will shot any long rifle 22. If the bolt hand you pull the bolt back with, locks open on its own. grind it down a little if it continue to lock back grand a little mor. Mine would only shoot cci 22 40gr but not very well not now it. will shot any 22 longs
do you have any tips on getting that muzzle brake on, I have that same one however I am having trouble getting it on, I don't want to damage the barrel.
I don't know , but I have killed like 200+ rabbits from 20yds all the way out to 160 yards . Got a coyote about 120 yards out on the run. I use Norma tac .22lr match grade . I have had the rifle for two years. One jam due to faulty ammo (cci stinger) other than that it's been accurate and low maintenance . Maybe I got lucky but the gun works for me. I'm an akm shooter and for me and my boys it's a good practice tool as the controls are the same minus the mag release . That's the only thing that I don't care for on this gun but after time the release lever has broken in as well.
Im willing to bet you that you bought this rifle based on 2 factors. One that it looked like an AR/M16 and man thats what you wanted, and two that it was cheap. So don't expect to get the whole ball of wax in one package!
I like it it was a not about being cheap although I did get it for under 300 bucks. Instead of buying a 22 conversion kit for my dpms I got an extra rifle the whole family is comfortable shooting. Plus it installs good muscle memory with the AR feel. The iron sights that come with flat top version are great I even tried on the 5.56..I was impressed they could make this gun for under500. I'm now thinking of buying the Mossberg .300 ar
Awesome little gun for those of us who have been playing with the IDEA of an ar, but budget is an issue. Good to know about the difficulty finding mags though!
They won't sell me anymore 25rd mags for the 715T here in Canada because the RCMP decided to reclassify them as prohibited devices (despite rimfires being exempt from capacity restrictions according to the Canada firearms act) ever since Mossberg put out the 715p pistol (sort of) variant. :(
Fast forward a few years, i just ordered one, its up to $300 with one mag. ($150 cheaper than the s/w ...not camparing them tho). I wish someone made a longer mag thats one piece with either a large cover for the big mag look or just and alignment collar, instead of the 2 piece.
I really considered getting this as my first weapon because of it's fantastical cheap price, but after reading all the issues and bad reviews, I decided to just spend the $ on the reliable, authentic, and highly rated S&W MP 15-22. Idk, in life I've learned that if ya buy cheap, ya buy twice.
great choice on the MP15-22. I couldn't pony up the fund for it so the 715t got the honor of being my first rifle. i'm not disappointed in it at all in any way, its a decent rifle but the 15-22 would be the king in that "ar22" crowd IMO.
I have the same gun and it came with the 25-round mag. Total price was $283 after tax. I found another 25-round mag for $30 from a local outfitter. I like the gun for the convenience of training with an AR-type rifle, but without the AR-ammo price. It's accurate, but jams about 1-2 times per 100 rounds or so. I get stovepipes, but that used to happen with my 10/22 with Butler Creek mags. I'm thinking about getting a S&W MP22 or a conversion kit for one of my AR's. Until then, the 715 will have to do.
TriggerJunkie. Where can I find the 25 rd mag? It's been hard to find them. I have the same rifle and it came with a 25 rd mag,but unfortunately I didn't order extras. Any info would be great.
JAI ROC I was able to find one at Buckeye Outdoors in Hebron, OH and couldn't believe the price b/c online, I was seeing them for over $50 a piece! I still only have the two mags. I'm sure there are online retailers that have them. Try Brownells, Andean, Natchez Shooter Supplies, Cheaper Than Dirt, and Midway USA. Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I'll check them out.
I have over 5,000 rounds through my 715T. Like all semi-auto .22s it had a break in period, but I've had no issues once I got past 1,000 rounds. From a bench rest the gun shoots 2" groups consistently at 100 yards...especially with Remington Thunderbolts.
What more can you ask of a $250 gun shooting cheap ammo?
Ever heard the saying "you get what you pay for?" what did you expect to get for $200??
This whole rifle leaves a lot to desire
Where did you get the flash suppressor? For the rear sight, once I had it zeroed at 25 yards, I put some beads of silicone on both adjustments. It allows a little movement but holds them fairly secure. I also put a thin spacer/washer between the removable rail and the carry handle because my sight picture was getting cut off by it, now it is great.
The bipod on a 22 made me chuckle. 😆
I was going to get this but after countless videos I watched of it I know it will stovepipe, it's a pain in the ass to take apart and there is basically no customization available for it. I wanted the m&p 15/22 but that's too expensive for me so I went with the 10/22 archangel 556.
I would rather have a regular Mossberg 702 without the cheap plastic case that looks like an AR-15 or a Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795 or even a Savage Mark 2 bolt action in a wood stock. Looks cheap and looks like it would break long before any other rifle.
I have the carry handle style and mine came with a 25 round magazine
It's comprised of plastic. Yes you can "take that carry handle off". With a saw lol.
Actually the flat top models do come with real metal sights you can put on
Also for me the mags are no issue to find I live in ky but amazon has some I think eBay I just google it an they are available
the 25 rnd mags can be found on ebay for less then 40 bucks you didnt look to hard
I think it would be a great gun for me....It looks cool and is cheap to shoot. Also, my grandson can shoot it due to the adjustable stock.
Nearly ALL .22 tactical rifles with the exception of maybe the Colt M4 one are made up of mostly polymer... Yet the 715t is the only one that gets shit for it.
go figure uh?
Are you serious? The reason they need the same controls.. Are because you are learning controls..?
Pimp out a Ruger 10/22. Way better rifle.
I bought One of these, for some reason mine keeps having ejecting problems when I try to fire an entire magazine, it will get a round stuck in chamber here and there, and The scope I have on it won't shoot straight whatsoever idk if it's the rifle or the scope
I went with the 715t as a low-cost option, overall I've been satisfied with it. Remington Thunderbolts seem to work the best in it. I had jamming issues with Winchester hollow points, but since using the Thunderbolts, I've had perhaps one stovepipe after firing 250-300 rounds. I've also got some high-velocity CCIs in reserve, I've yet to try them out and see how they do. You mentioned sighting, I thought the iron sights left much to be desired, but a red/green dot scope does just fine putting rounds on target after being properly dialed in. A couple of other squawks: it's fiddly to get the plastic shell off for a thorough fieldstrip and cleaning, and a new 25 round mag can be a bit fiddly to load. They seem to do better after a few reloads, perhaps the springs (there's actually 2 of them) need to be compressed a few times to take the stiffness out. I've found that keeping the mags loaded whilst not in use in order to keep the springs compressed helps this process. Overall not a bad rifle for the money, though I expect a higher priced model like the S&W M&P would do better still.
it might be the ammo you're using
Hey Man, Looks Awesome. What Type of paint did you use? and what color is that?
Is that just taped off and can spray painted? It looks good! I have one and was thinking about painting it or have it dipped. I'm gonna give to my 11 year old for his bday!
More like 10% AR. I have one and I hate it. Shoulda got another Ruger.
I can afford da "Real" AR15 but I just wanna stay in my budget 4 now & just try this one out then buy da bush master AR15
Rite I did look up the colt ar15 & its nice ass hell I am thinkn bout buyn it
deff not 90% Ar either more like 10% Ar ,I still enjoy my Mossberg but its nothing like my real Ar . Can find these for great prices now too, even the ones without the charging handle ive seen for around $209.00 at cabalas.
Is this good for home defence or should I wait for an AR-15?
yea but how much$$$
How much do they cost
"it feels some what cheap" it's cheap duh..
They work fine... thats operator error if it doesn't. ..
What brand/model of paint did you use? Spray paint?
Yeah. I just taped it off with blue masking tape and painted it with rustoleum camo paint. it was actually really durable. Check out my website, personaldfence (dot) com and I have a blog post up about how i painted it. I think that will make a great present! lucky kid!
My Mossberg 715t 22lr won’t shoot straight at all. All bullets shoot downwards and to the left. Cheaply made and no damn good. Bad experience for me.
What kind of paint did you use to paint the stock?
Hey where u find the forearm grip with the pod?
This does look a bit cheap. Is there an affordable ar15 style .22lr? Im fairly new to this stuff...
+Stephen Summers The Smith and Wesson 15-22 is a quality AR built from the ground up to fire 22lr.
Good for home defense? Does it fire hollow points?
it does fire hollow points
Your kidding right?? It's a cheap airsoft 22. It comes in six models nothing to do with ar15
What paint did u use
Lmao 🤣 no its no where near 90% AR ! And I own this rifle I also own the Smith & wesson m&p 15-22 and it actually is 90% AR the only difference is whT its chambered in and no forward assist.
Have you had hands on with a S&W M&P 15-22?
those are expensive
m16a2
These are junk I sold mine after I put about 50 rounds thru it.. complete plastic garbage. Spend the extra cash and get a ruger sr22 or Smith & wesson m&p 15-22
Unfitting music
I would not purchase this rifle due to the fact that it is utter garbage. It feels cheap, shoots all over the place and malfunctions like crazy, literally like every 20 shots. The first time that i took it shooting it malfunctioned a lot of times, the last time i took it it had multiple failure to feed and extract, it also would catch the ejected shells when the bolt came back forward. I zeroed in the sights and it still shot all over the place. High, low, left and right
