I left Michigan for school in higher elevations of northern Arizona in the mid 1980’s. So stunning a landscape; quite the departure from humid, wooded, claustrophobic Michigan. My roommate invited me to join a horseback ride into Prescott, some 20 miles from Chino Valley. I rode his mare and he rode her maturing filly. I was absolutely astounded by the detail of the land I was missing all the while whizzing by in a car. I had been a stranger to the road side until then. The shy wildlife, the plants, the earth. It took all day and one side of my face was sunburned. A valuable lesson I learned so long ago. Yes, the slow way to reveal your connection to Her.

I resonate so much about you mentioned about Juliette and a nostalgic feeling to watch her. It brought me also to tears and for me it is still the essence of how we as humans must live. It's our birth-right. The way she shared about her Turkumans and also using herbs for our beloved dogs is inspiring. In regard of her full docu, I can not find it anymore. All goods from Belgium, daniëlle.

gypsy is still used just not so much in the US. my ex from tunisia describes his dad's mom as a gypsy. and thats how she describes herself too.

I enjoyed her book on "A Gypsy in New York" one comment she made was after they moved out of the apartment, it was 3 years with no cockroaches. She definitely lived modestly, but had such a full and rich life. I often wonder how her son and daughter remember the travel and experiences. Thank you for reminding me of her and her books.
