That’s because the offline mode was added later, as far as I remember. This gives more hope that NFS2015 won’t be completely unplayable. Also, seeing how EA is letting Unbound have unprecedented levels of support also gives hope. Oh, and don’t later NFS games all have a pure offline mode? They do, afaik. That’s a big difference from what Ubisoft is doing overall.
If it goes offline then I’ll just get rid of it 😂

The art direction in 2015 is the reason the game's graphics hold up to this day. Newer games look great, dont get me wrong, but criterion should take a look at this and take notes for the next iteration of nfs, whenever that may happen
Also Underground was ahead of it's time not only visually but in general, so it makes sense why this game in particular was such a staple for the NFS series since this was their attempted 'reboot' of that series.
Yeah looks absolutely good on PS5 these days. Also, the soundtrack is way better than in the modern games.

Criterion handled the art direction of MW2012 beautifully, Unbound is great looking but the reason it looks a little flat in some places is definitely because they had to work with what Heat offered
Need for speed 2012 and 2015 still to this day are the best looking nfs games by alot. 2017 payback marked the downfall of need for speed.
As flawed as it was, this game holds a special place for me.

I agree, the sad part of these always online issues are you spent money on the games which means you feel you own the copy playable forever and I'm a NFS fan, been playing since need for speed hot pursuit on PS1 so memories playing with friends awesome, my son is an insane fan and held a controller 1 year old with NFS 2015 on screen and his eyes alone said it all. Lol. And he has been playing ever since. Black Pantha make it happen man don't let us lose NFS 2015.... just the look alone there is definitely something about it... I remember the wait excitement for the trailer. Epic.

You know, Accursed Farms's stopkillinggames initiative actually is using The Crew for its goal to prevent developers from being able to kill games like this.
I think it would be worth discussing since I imagine a lot of the people who watch you own The Crew and can participate.

I will NOT purchase a game that cannot be played offline, ever again.
When I purchased The Crew and NFS 2015, I did not ever consider the fact, that one day the games would be unplayable. If I had known, I doubt I would have ever purchased them. It just never crossed my mind, seing as this had never been an issue for me in the past.
As one who frequently played/plays both games from time to time, it saddens me that I won't be able to now/in the future. It kinda seems like theft.
I sincerely hope that Accursed Farms's - stopkillinggames initiative - actually will make a difference.
And I really do respect BlackPanthaa for bringing the issue some much needed attention.

2015 looked more realistic and gritty than the previous titles before it. It revived the NFS franchise to what it’s strong at. Customization and car culture. NFS is one of my fave games of all time because of this and the the pure nostalgia of 2015. BO3 came out during that time and it was awesome as well. The PS4 was having an incredible library of games and 2015 was an amazing start to a revival in a new generation.

Knowing EA, they won't give up old titles so easily especially the ones that SOLD. (Red Alert 2 and such)
So don't worry, they'll figure a way to squeeze more money from this game, too.
7:20 the visuals are a perfect example of baked hand crafted lighting designed for a fixed time of day, high quality color grading, and e3 wet roads desease.
The smaller map also helps as I wouldn't be surprised if the lighting is baked into large textures instead of probes like a big map would require. These days raytracing could help replicate this with less restrictions but you're still left with barebones colorgrading and less inspired map design.

Can't forget about the high quality post processing in general as well, neatly tuned to resemble photo-realism as much as possible
@@UrbanDeHuman exactly. People complain about post processing effects and there's a general distain for film grain, chromatic aberration, bloom, etc, but executed well and it can look incredible.
Im sure many people that think 2015 looks great still dislike the post processing though, not realising just how much it actually contributes to the realism.

Funny how GTA 4 from 2008 still has perfectly working multiplayer on xbox 360 xbox 1 and PlayStation 3 can exist. But games from 2015 cant. Keep in mind gta 4 hasnt been touched since 2010.
especially the fact that GTA 4 is one of those games that tied to GameSpy servers, which shutted down operations along with a lot of games' online multiplayer services overnight to abyss with it
holy shit this game is almost 10 years old, i remember seeing the teaser and thinking that need for speed finally going back to its root. it's still a really beautiful game.

That's actually not the real reason.
The Toyota UK tweet about "the illegal street racing claim" is totally false and fallacious.
Toyota themselves debunked that misinformation.
In reality, the official reason of Toyota's absence in NFS games is still unknown.
It's likely due to licensing fee issues or contract clauses where EA and Toyota didn't find any agreements OR it's EA themselves with their behavior to cheap out on everything which turned off Toyota.
So, Toyota moved on for other racing game IPs.
Or EA and Toyota have still a beef.
However.
If the illegal street racing claim was the real reason (anyway, Toyota themselves debunked that nonsense), Toyota cars wouldn't be featured in NFS 2015, Forza Horizon, Initial D, Wangan Midnight or any other racing games which includes street racing as a main theme.
They wouldn't be also appearing in any Fast and Furious movies.
To simplify, it's all about 💵, agreements, license deals and contract clauses.

1. EA won't be stupid and they do an offline mode for the game
2. They shut down 2015 but they do a remaster of the game and have updated physics from Unbound or the next NFS game that happens "big copium"
3. EA doesn't care and pulls a Ubisoft
Well technically there are already ways of playing this game offline. It's kinda complicated (and it's not just the 'Play Alone' feature you can access when you already enter a public server).

I was so excited when 2015 was coming out, a NFS game going back to the NFSMW days.. but the always online killed it for me. I already owned the Crew and loved it, lots of hours in the game, but due to my internet at the time I was constantly disconnected from the servers. I had to go on UA-cam to watch cutscenes a couple times due to it registering me completing the race but I missed the cutscene due to getting kicked off due to poor internet. I even had to due rases multiple time due to getting kicked in the middle of races. So due to my Crew experience I didn't buy the game, even after getting good reliable internet, I still refuse to buy the game due to it still being always online and having multiple games lost to time after the servers are shut off. If NFS2015 ever gets an offline update I'll buy it.

Been playing 2015 Unite for the past few months an i absolutely love how the community has improved such an old amazing game. Would love to see things continued on 3rd party server an kept up by other's. Ive always thought the look with a little Re-Shade an maybe a few more cars could keep this game alive an the community invested for more then a few more years

I sold my entire ubisoft collection which contain all assassins creed games since the first, the divition 1,2, ghost recon 2 until breakpoint and the crew franchise last splinter cell all of them.

On the topic of nfs, look what criterion did for heat b4 they were forced to work on bf2042. They put out a patch that added crossplay.
All with a small team of prolly like 6 people bc the rest were prolly working on unbound or bf2042.

I really hope they leave offline “Play alone” mode in the game so it will forever be playable. Couple things, I still try and go back to complete the prestige races in all gold. I’ve only completed the spike races in gold and the rest are silver and bronze. So never being able to complete that would suck. But if they do make another update for this game removing the server but leaving offline mode, they should redo the Hoonicorn like how it was when it first dropped into the game without the Boost gauge. This version one of the hoonicorn was naturally aspirated so the boost gauge makes no sense. And then one more small thing, the interior seat belt for the in car character goes over his left shoulder still in right hand drive cars… kinda goofy , but never was fixed.
Corporations need to be held accountable for this type of behaviour. The Crew was and should be the last straw. Look at Ubu's stocks, the only a change will happen is by attack, hit where it hurts them. Profits and controversy

it's the underground graphics. nfs heat's graphic looks GTA. they really need to make this offline so that people can create an RTX mod for it, improve the cop AI, make the handling consistent, introduce more cars & customizations.

The Crew shutdown because of the car licenses. We don't know how long the NFS 2015 licenses last.
Despite Im not being a huge fan of NFS 2015 it was a nice comeback to the underground street racing theme, imo NFS 2015 was like COD MW 2019, it had its flaws but it was solid reboot
While NFS 2015 has very good graphics, the game is extremely boring. The city is lifeless, the cutscene live action characters are extremely annoying, who talks like that in real life. The tracks where you race are not as exciting as older NFS games.
Hope they'll patch it to be playable offline. It's my favourite NFS since MW05

Some ordinary gamers was talking about this before, but they’re seriously needs to be laws around the globe that prevents these massive companies from being able to shut down the games like these that are live service, because we, as the consumers have the right to play the content that we purchased, and if they are willing to take away the content that we purchased, because they demon unsustainable, and that should be downright illegal across the board.
Now I never played the crew one so I have no personal experience with it other than being sad that I wasn’t able to play it, but I did buy need for speed 2015 as well as all the other need for speed games that come after it plus the crew two, and with the crew servers being taken down that means that if you be soft or EA are willing to start this process now once game turns 10 years old then potentially no game is safe.
I don’t know how we would manage to do it, but we as the consumers the people however you want to say it, we all need to band together and find a way to keep these massive corporations from taking away the very same content that we bought that has brought us joy for many years, that way it can continue to bring us joy for many more years to come.
Whatever the process may be to get these massive companies to Not be able to do this, it needs to happen, they don’t need to keep the servers running forever, but they can at least incorporate a off-line patch that needs you to have Internet just once to download the off-line patch.

Couple months late to this video, but tbh... This game is not that good, I'm a fan of racing games and been a fan of NFS for a long time I even still have the disk for Most Wanted 2005, but this game is a failed reboot, yeah, nostalgia can hit sometimes but handling is horrendous, story is bad AF, I have a high end PC and get lag sometimes, cops might be the most braindead NPC I've ever seen you can literally rack up like 10k bounty and heat 5 and walk with the police, and the game "looks" good cause: "Rain effect makes night look fancy and reflective uuuh" so at least in my opinion if the game is shutdown, welp it was great while it lasted, but cannot be called "one of the best NFS" cause it ain't, The Run was literally a Action Racing game and have better moments then this game, and c'mon crash cam is the dumbest thing developers can place on a racing game, just let me keep riding..
In conclusion, even I respect the opinion of people who like this game, if we have to talk about been "one of the best" in the NFS saga, no, it isn't, having to play a game that is always online and you can get hit by random people in the middle of an important race is not good game design, if you get a decently tuned car all the races in this game look like a child playing in the park, this game lacks so much, that cannot be called a good game, is a decent game, looks good and that's it.

You're correct but the problem is we, as consumers, showed them the playback when everyone bought/re-download the crew which rewards ubisoft ultimately.. it's like telling a kid don't do that then giving them a reward for doing it
NFS Rivals Online Lobbies are still running and some players can still be seen there, and Rivals came out in 2013

The irony that most Toyota legacy is based on street racing amuses me. Like how Toyota CEO with a straight face said "no illegal street racing game" meanwhile Anime, Movie, Top Secret and overall Icon of street racing uses street racing with this car. Heck even their popular street car were used as a street racing machine. GR IMO is basically illegal since they joined racing without the main Toyota company consent. Or in other word, they joined "secretly". Like you know how illegal street racing "secretly" racing.
It was like 9 years ago since I discouraged strongly that people support games that can't be played offline.
But they're too kind and would support even if it's exclusively playable online and the game companies exploit you for this.
Result : they still make profit from your money, but you don't own it and will never get the chance to play once the game server dies.
To me this is utter absurdity about how you design a game.
Nfs has lots of fans which should make it last longer due to more money from sales
