Plot:
The story revolves around Nick Bianco (played by Victor Mature), a small-time criminal who is arrested after a botched robbery. He’s coerced into turning informant to help the police apprehend a notorious gangster, Big Jim Moliano (played by Taylor Holmes), in exchange for the safety of his wife and children. Bianco is torn between his loyalty to the criminal world and his desire to protect his family. In the process, he faces a dangerous double-cross and makes some morally questionable decisions. Meanwhile, Tommy Udo (played by Richard Widmark) emerges as one of the film’s most chilling villains. Udo is a sadistic gangster who provides one of the film's most memorable moments-his murder of a woman in a wheelchair, which was one of the most shocking moments in 1940s cinema.
