I'm not even halfway through and y'all already are in my top 3 narrowboat youtube channels. Granted I've only checked out about a dozen of them. Love your energy, editing, lifestyle, general take on life. Been really inspirational beyond just narrowboating, which is why I check these out. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get over there (I'm American and living there) and explore the canal system via a narrowboat but I hope so even if just for a holiday. I wish I had known about them when I had been in the UK visiting before. Anywho...thank you for sharing some of your life and adventures!

Nice to see "a day in the life" for a change, instead of eternal canal cruising. We always experience narrowboats from the outside and seldom see how they are used internally. So this was a nice video for a change.

Hi Rich, I forgot to mention a thank you for your history/ geography lesson in your episode 31. I was born in London and emigrated to NZ when I was 21. I lived in Putney, and my friends and I regularly visited Hampton Court, Kingston, Richmond, and Teddington , walking the tow path at times between these towns. I always knew that the Thames was tidal down-stream of the Teddington locks, but I never knew about the Thames barrier at Richmond that operated two hours either side of the Thames high tide 24 hours a day. You live and learn ! Thank you Rich, regards Barry.

Might I respectfully suggest a small book exchange point either at the bow of your boat, or one you could put along the tow path when moored? We call them mini libraries here in Roanoke, Va., USA. You might be surprised at what books come your way, and then afford ones could be donated. But by having one, you could indulge your shared love of reading.

I was surprised to discover how much I miss the backlit screen and the easy format of my iPad Mini.
I feel the draw of a good, hardback book as well, but that draw is much less than it was several years ago for me.

How I envy you, no, not the narrowboat life (well yes that as well) but books or rather reading books. I can spend hours studying a map or a drawing or even at a technical manual but apart from reading the works of Roald Dahl to my kids when they were little I find I cannot immerse myself in a book - I know I'm missing something, perhaps imagination but may be that's why I'm an engineer.

Now the boat is balanced perfectly as normal. So we can only conclude that the pump outs we were having weren't emptying the tank properly. Cheers Rich.

I found this for our viewers:
By the end of 1796 the canal had been completed from its northern terminus at Braunston as far as Blisworth, where work had started on the tunnel but was then suspended. After plans for a deviation, probably following the valley of another tributary of the Tove to the west of Ashton, and passing close to Hyde Farm in Roade, which would have involved building 29 locks and a reservoir but no tunnel, were abandoned, a road was built over Blisworth Hill in 1797 to carry goods from Stoke to the wharf at Blisworth. This proved insufficient to deal with the tonnage involved and in 1800 Benjamin Outram (1764-1805) was engaged to design and, using cast-iron rails supplied by his Butterley ironworks in Derbyshire, build a double-track horse-drawn railway from the wharf at the London road bridge, along the canal towpath to the village, and then over Blisworth Hill to the completed section of canal. The railway remained in use for five years, during which time it may have been the most intensively worked line of its kind in Britain.
In 1800 the canal reached Stoke Bruerne from the south and two years later work resumed on Blisworth Tunnel, which was opened in 1805, so that the the entire canal from Brentford (Mdx.) to Braunston (Warws.) was finally complete. The tramroad was taken up and some of the rails re-used for a line from Gayton to Northampton (which was itself superseded by the Northampton branch of the Grand Junction Canal, opened in 1815). Most of the route over Blisworth Hill can still be traced, including slight earthworks.

We have 100gb data for about 45 quid. And you get free 5gb for your phone. Thanks for watching.

The purpose of your lifestyle should be "not to have any type of schedule". I would replace the bread rolls filled with sausages and other vegetarian fillings with more raw fruits and vegetables.

Why don't you swap out the books you have read with other boaters ? Everyone wins, new reading material for free and no one will be accumulating more and sinking the boat. A Floating Literary Swap Shop. Love your videos

Do you need a TV licence if you watch live TV on a narrowboat??? I suppose you're supposed to have one, the buggers charge enough!!!

We really only watch dvds, UA-cam or things like netflix, but we have a licence anyway so are covered if we watch any TV on catch up.

@@FloatingOurBoat So you have to have one, I see, what a ripoff the licence fee can be at times!

Hi James S D but if you watch tv isn't it nice to watch a programme without the adverts, which seem to be getting longer these days.
