    In my culture, I grew up associating Cala Lilly with funerals. The Lilly in your picture is the one that has a very strong scent and usually gives headaches. In fragrances like Hidden Fantasy I don’t notice it to be bothersome. Claire, you are phenomenal at relaying a wealth of information eloquently and without making it sound boring. Love your content 🌹🤗

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 роки тому

      Yes, you are right! Lilly can be very different in different fragrances, I think the aromachemicals used vary quite a lot from what I've read and also a lot have now been banned 🙊 here white lillies are a bit of a no no if you are giving people flowers as they are too associated with funerals.
      Thank you Yulia, I really appreciate you watching! 🥰

    Decades ago I mixed essential oils and we had 2 Chamomile oils. German chamomile which smelled like hay and Roman chamomile which smells like floral apple. Roman chamomile smells divine. It contains bisabolol which is anti-inflammatory when applied topically. I believe it is the bisabolol which gives the oil its blue color. It was used sparingly because it was very expensive and you didn't need much. When Gucci came out with their chamomile fragrance I assumed it would be Roman chamomile. I was shocked when I smelled it and realized it was German chamomile. It smells like hay!
    EDIT: Looked it up and the blue color comes from azulene, another anti-irritant.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 роки тому +1

      That's so interesting! I clearly have only smelt the German chamomile! Wow! And yes I'm sure bisabolol is used for stomach complaints, I've seen it listed in ingredients for sure. And I never imagined chamomile essential oil would be blue! You have blown my mind! I need to smell the Roman one now! Thanks so much for you comment! ❤️

    Hello Claire,
    I enjoyed your video theme and that you used more unusual flowers as some of the selections. Of the flowers mentioned I prefer peony, bluebell, lotus and the mythical orchid. I don't enjoy chamomile and marigold as fragrance notes. I do associate lilies with Easter and funerals. The remaining flower fragrance I am not committed on. I think the asian flower meanings are much nicer than the Greek and Victorian ones. Thanks again for the time you put into creating this! - Jenn

    Hello Claire, Thank you for this so interresting video. I have to add something, you told about Good Fortune that Gentian was the symbol of Belgium. I tried to find it but didn't succeed.
    As we are quite complicated, every region has his own flower, in Flamish region, it's the Poppy, just as in England, in Brussels it's the Marsh Iris, and in the Wallonia where I'm from it's the Gaillarde ?? Thank you so much, you made me do some very interresting researches. And by the way I also found that Gentian was the symbolism of contempt, disdain. Gentian is something I have only seen listed in one fragrance ever and it probably wasn't the best example 😂 I think it was listed in Good Fortune by V&R, but that's not the nicest fragrance. I'm not sure the poppy is a symbol of England, I think that's more the rose, but the poppy is definitely the symbol of remembrance here. I looked into the Victorian lotus meaning. Peonies have grown on me over time, the non shampoo ones. Yes I'd say that had bad luck. Athena was rather fierce tho being turned into a Peony isn't the worst thing they did.
    Bluebells are my faves too. I think what makes them so special is they are so fleeting, a May flower really. Yes they smell absolutely incredible, the only truly great thing we've given to the world. 😂 You can see why I love so many bluebells about. Yes the Penhaligons is erm... Very unbluebell like.
    Chamomile I can enjoy at times, not my favourite but if I'm in the mood. Yes they are quite green in fragrance.
    I'm quite a fan of narcissus, yes I always pick one daffodil, my life makes sense now. I think Narcisuss was treated very badly I feel for Echo but she only fell in love cos he was so handsome... So u know. I love the note in there.
    Ah yes Hyacinthos. The other tale is the very jealous Zephyrus directed the discus towards him. I love them in real life and in fragrance too.
    Marigolds I still don't know too well. Them Christians and their ironic greed for gold 🙄. Yes I am surprised I don't have loads of marigolds 😅.
    Well orchids 🍒 yes they are incredibly pretty flowers aren't they. I'm sure the fathers didn't live long after eating them 🤣. Yes I've just noticed that the flowers looks very erm "female" and obviously the roots a tad man like.
    I love Lotus too. Such beautiful flowers. I don't think I've ever seen a proper real one. They had very pretty lady parts in ancient China 🤣. It is a very potent smell isn't it. Victorians were just frankly odd.
    Chrysanthemum is a pretty flower and yes they do smell very distinctive. I've clearly picked too many of them. The ones I've tried with it in have been very nice.
    Lily's are very beautiful ❤️ wow them Romans were insane, one lily would be enough to fill an entire house. How interesting they are related to Mary? Is that another thing to distract from the memory of Lillith I wonder. Most of their stuff is to gaslight something or hide a complete contradiction. Yes I imagine lilies can also hide the smell of death. Yes sadly lily has disappeared from fragrance I'm sure it will be a "trend" soon enough.

    I heard that Narcisus was desired by many women but he wasn't intersted in any of them and also by his (cousin? ) Echo (the woman in the drawing you had) but he didn't care for her either so he was punished by her father to fall inlove with his own image, so he stared at his reflection for days without eating until he fell and drowned in the water.
    I wonder why did it never accured that he just might be gay?

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on the version that you read. Echo is a nymph added to the story by Ovid (the version I studied at school as part of reading metamorphoses). Echo annoyed Juno who doomed her to only be able to repeat the last part of people's sentences, not to speak with her own words, because she was such a chatterbox. There are lots and lots of different versions. My Latin teacher always maintained that the point of the story was that Narcissus wasn't gay, because he wasn't in love with anyone but himself.
