Good evening folks and thank you for joining me for today’s wee recipe video for the highly requested chicken pakora :) I’ll join you down in the comments 🥰
Your pakora looks FAB. I've been making my own for many years now and we love it. I've even made haggis pakora and black pudding as well as vegetble and of course chicken. Similar recipes but a slightly different style. I'll certainly try it your way Cheryl, thank you sooo much for sharing xx
Moved from the west to Edinburgh about 13 years ago and there was only ONE takeaway near me that did the pink sauce. That shut down about 10 years ago and I've been without it ever since. I'm so glad I've come across this recipe and can't wait to try it!
To keep your gram flour fresh keep in the freezer. If youve not got a thermometer dip a wooden chopstick into the oil, and your looking fo some small bubbles , then youve got your desired temp
Made my mouth water as all of your recipes and prepared foods do. I love your voice and am sure you are as wonderful in person as you sound in your videos. Please keep the videos of the yummy recipes/food coming.
I love a pakora and I’m definitely going to give these a go. Never heard of the pink sauce before but that looks delicious too. Thanks for another great video and recipe Cheryl.
Never had chicken pakora but I can imagine it is really good. Nice easy finger food for carry out. I always enjoyed Onion Pakora as a starter when I lived in Glasgow, then a lamb Lady finger Vindaloo curry.
You missed out on the chicken pakora! I miss Scotland for it. No one does it better. Can’t wait to try this. It looks like the perfect Scottish recipe.
@@zworm2 me too! It’s been too long! I fancy a food trip. Cream buns & chicken pakora. Even the chippies sell chicken pakora with the stunning pink sauce 😍
Don't think I've ever heard of chicken pakora, Cheryl, just veggies. Will have to look for it, as deep fryer is not allowed to cross my threshold 😅 Glad you're feeling better!
It looks wonderful. The sauce is "different". I might skip the dye since I'm not expecting it to look like the takeout. Those thermometers are a must in the kitchen. Easy to find in most stores now.
Being from Glasgow and living in the US for years, I’ve been making the pink sauce since I came here to have with Indian takeouts and especially on a gyro, which was what was on a gyro in Glasgow, at least way back. Don’t like tzatziki sauce on my gyro, which is what they serve here in the US. Sometimes have snuck the pink sauce in with me to a restaurant. Its actually quite good on a baked potato. 🏴🇺🇸
This looks like a fantastically versatile dish! Have you ever used the seasoned batter on pork loin/chop strips, white fish strips, or any other proteins, if so how did you like it?
Thank you so much for the recipe since moving down south they really don’t know what pakora is. I made this at the weekend and it was amazing and totally delicious ❤
Down in Yorkshire, we have pakoras and that sauce, but they don't put the food colouring in it round here. Thank God. Still, I'll be giving these a go because I love starters. These would go nice with my aloo tikki and chicken tikka & onion bhajis as part of a mixed starter.
Hi Cheryl, nice to hear you sounding a lot better, hope you’re over the worst of your 🦠 & feeling much improved & more like yourself!☺️🤗 Oooo yummy 😋, been waiting for this one it looks delicious - to all non Scots watching, ‘a wee sloosh’ is a formally recognised official measurement in these parts!😉😂🤣🤣 Take care & as always thanks for sharing your recipe Cheryl, now where did I leave my marigolds?😉xx 💕💞🩷
In Ireland if you ask for pink sauce you generally get marie rose sauce ... Iv always referred to the sauce in this video ask pakora saice as it usually only ccomes with parkoura
Pakora never caught on south of the border ! I cannae understand it ! We made fish paora , cauliflower, potato & chilli flakes, all fabulus ! Lost on the english !
Lovely stuff i live in Manchester but born in Glasgow and used to bring back pink sauce from Glasgow as never its an unknown quantity in Manc land. Thank you could you show us some veg n haggis n black pudding pakoras please.
The sauce must be a regional thing, im from outside glasgow and its a bright red spicy sauce we get. I havent seen the pink sauce. Looks nicer as the sauce we have is too spicy for me x
@@WhatsForTeaI never use food coloring in my pink sauce. I only use the ketchup for coloring so add a little more to make it more pink. However, it’s never vibrant pink, just a nice shade of pink and tastes great.
@@karensteed3589i would think the turmeric would alter the taste of the pink sauce, especially that much. I just use a bit extra ketchup to make pink, but it won’t be really bright, but tastes the way pink sauce should. Been making it for years since I moved to the US.🏴🇺🇸
We use kashmiri chilli powder instead of red colour...and no chickpea flour ..apf with cornflour or rice flour...chickpea flour is used for veg pakora...
I put the used cooled oil in an empty oil bottle, then put in the trash. You can probably get one more use out of the oil for deep frying another time, but I wouldn’t use a third time. Once I use up a bottle of oil, I always save the empty for this use.
@@annegraham4307looks like you answered a question I was going to ask. Even if I used a slightly shallower pan to use less oil, that would have two uses as well. And don't want to share pakora oil with something else. By the way, I buy chicken pakora strips from Iceland and put them in the air fryer...which gave me an idea, could I make my own strips and do my own in the airfryer. May as well give it a go

Thank you. Wonderful recipe. Blessings from Texas, USA. ❤❤
Pink sauce is a strangely Scottish thing, supposedly invented at Shaheds Tandoori on Pollokshaws Rd
Take a chill pill 😂
I wondered about the pink sauce. You don't really find it anywhere else. Love me some pink sauce!
Iv always referred to it as pakora sauce where im from if you ask for pink sauce you get mari rose sauce
What a gaff!

It's a good one John! 🤗
Add ajwain seeds to the batter. Absolutely makes pakora ‘pakora’ (especially veg pakora).
Delicious thank you ❤
You're welcome Mary! 😘
Fascinating batter technique, particularly the incremental addition of gram flour.
Looks amazing. I am definitely going to try this
Definitely going to write these recipes down and try them the pink sauce intrigued me but eager to try it thanks for some great different ideas
Each to their own -never used a thermometer in my life! If the juices run clear it's done!

Looks superb! Haven't had it in yonks.
Sure hope i can find the ingredients here in the rural South :^)
Oh yeah, I just need some of the chickpea flour and then I'm giving this one a try!
That looks really yummy. I'd have to do maybe an 1/8th of a tsp. of cayenne, lol. It doesn't take much to light me up.
😁👍 🌶🌶🌶

Never had a pakora - they look delicious. Pink sauce looks like my tandoori marinade for chicken thighs. It is fluorescent pink😅
the dipping sauce recipe i got from the indian in bothwell was ketchup, water, lemon juice, sugar and mint sauce= delish
What bizarre and crazy nonsense is this? I've never even heard of pink sauce! I'm going to have to make this! Gardyloo!!!

We get pink and red sauce in Stirling. Pink is more mild

I'm wondering if air frying would work with this recipe?
Hello, instead of food dye, I use a teaspoon of turmeric x

The difference in heat between cayenne and chili powder is massive. Be careful with cayenne.
1:00 -- A teaspoon of cayenne pepper?! I can barely tolerate 1/8 teaspoon.
❤❤❤
I made the pink sauce just 4 ma crisps 😂
Ah, cross-cultural pollination. Gotta love it.
