I sent this to my sister and she asked what’s in haggis and I said I don’t know, but I do and then I told her I could order it from Aykroyd Scottish bakery in Detroit Michigan ,because I live in the states overnight. And I told her I love the sound of your voice it reminds me of me ma ,she was a war bride , she was a we bit of thing .
Thats definitely happening in this house. First time I've ever seen that. I've had Balmoral chicken at a wedding but this is next level. And it's a 🥧. How absolutely perfect 🥰 thanks heaps for this. ❤
My wife made this for dinner/tea this evening, and everyone liked it. Although I love Haggis, my wife and our three kids have never wanted to try it, so my wife said it was sausage when the kids asked, and they continued to eat it up, with two of the three kids having seconds. We'll definitely be making this again. Thanks Cheryl!
Have tried this twice now and i cant believe I've never seen this before. The wife loves this. It is one of those dishes that stay with you for life. Love following your meals and so simple to follow. Thanks for sharing.
That looks fantastic, Cheryl! I will definitely be trying this. I like that lots of the ingredients are cooked in the same pan! Always a bonus! Thanks x
My oldest son would have loved that. I lost him in December 2022 to an upper respiratory infection and complications of his dialysis. He was just 46 years old.
😢 So sorry for your loss. It really takes away part of your heart 😮😢! My sweet daughter lost her battle with cancer when she was only 41. Keep the joyful times at the forefront of your mind and do your best to be grateful for the good times that you had with your son. Take care of yourself.😊
Cheryl, looks so tasty and delicious. So many different flavours in the dish. I'm certainly going to give this dish a try this weekend. Thanks and keep your lovely recipes coming through your channel. I have tried alot of them and thoroughly enjoyed every single one. Thanks again Cheryl, beautiful, traditional home cooked food as it should be. Take care x
I made this for Christmas Eve this year and it was a smashing success with everyone. It was so delicious! Thanks so much for this recipe. I bet we will have it again next year!!
Stumbled onto your channel. Love it. I live in the USA but my heritage is Scottish. I have been to Scotland once. My son loved it so much, he wanted to live there. Haggis was very good. This Chicken casserole is looking very Hardy.
I did a few contracts in Scotland and always loved the place for many different reasons, my favourite was staying in Broughty Ferry for a year , great bootchers and seafood shops, and this recipe is very typical of Scotland , easy and relies on the ingredients ...........mmmmmmmmmmmm
Living in England but holidayd in Scotland many times I've never had haggis and wouldn't know where to buy it, but I love creamy chicken dishes and fancy making this one so ill have to hunt for it. Thank you for your recipes. X
i add parma ham instead of bacon as the smell of cooking bacon gives me the dry boak. Also I do go for the cheesy tatties. It's such a versatile dish a few shallots , shrooms in the mix works well too
Although I watched this video with interest a wee while ago I didn’t have any haggis but yesterday I made it for dinner, it was fantastic, so tasty. Well done Cheryl. I will try the pies as well when I get more haggis sent down from Julia in Inverness. Her supplier is in Stornaway and it’s great. Great comfort food for a dark wet night in Devon. Cheers 🍷🍷Mike
Thank you for this delicious recipe, made it coronation day for my family, tasted special, like from a nice restaurant, perfect for an occasion. Will try the mushroom version too. 😊
Very interesting, the haggis addition Cheryl. I’ve never done that but will give it a go. Also never fried haggis, always just heated it up in microwave (that method which we love anyway) with gravy on top, neeps and tatties. (On holiday a few years back in Fort William we had WHISKY gravy with haggis, absolutely wonderful! )
Was looking forward to seeing you make this Cheryl & it looks absolutely delicious 😋 I may give this a go, but living on my own would have to reduce the ingredients accordingly. I see you have the same pale blue Retro saucepans as me!😃 Good taste!😉😂🤣🤣 Take care & enjoy the rest of your week. 👩🍳💕💞💗
That looks incredibly easy and delish! I love poaching chicken for chicken salad or for use in wraps or sandwiches. I bring my water, along with a few thin slices of lemon, peppercorns, peeled cloves of garlic, fresh rosemary, Italian parsley and thyme, all tied in a bunch, to a low simmer. Then I add chicken breasts or thighs(depends what I am using the meat for) I have allowed to come to room temp before adding. I let breasts low simmer about 30 minutes, thighs about an hour. Your gravy looked so good! With a larger baking dish, I wonder, could you par cook your brocc and add broccoli first, then your chicken mix, your haggis and then the potato? Let the brocc finish off in the oven? Making this tomorrow night❤ Thank you, and Hellooooo, from Massachusetts USA
Was this the view from your house? Wow - blew me away - how gorgeous! I shall try the pie but not sure about haggis ..sorry!! Thank you for making it look so easy!!
Adding that mustard gives it a lovely flavor, I’m sure. If you were using pastry, would it just be a top crust? How do you think this would be with a full, hot water crust?
Would love to give this a go but would be omitting the Hagas side of it. That's one Scottish food that I've never been a fan of since even childhood when my best friend's mom used to make it once in a blue moon. 😂
Oh, it looks marvelous! Our local grocery store here in Texas called H.E.B. actually has British double cream in a jar. I have wondered if it is the same as the double cream you have in your videos? Also, I have never had the opportunity to try haggis, but it looks so good and savory. I bet this tastes wonderful! Thank you for your videos, Cheryl. They are a bright spot in my week!
Looks great, chicken veg bacon haggis and mash, what’s not to like there. I make a similair recipe at home using juts chicken in a creamy sauce with some veg, but I’m defiantly doing this one. Love haggis. Bet it would work with black pudding as well.?
I would sprinkle 1/4 Cup of Grated Parmesan cheese after it bakes for 15 minutes. This will give it a golden colour and a wicked crisp texture. Or mix in the cheese, with your mash!
Cheryl, this is a great easy recipe. Is there anything one can use to replace the haggis, as it is not a usual fare where I live? Could one use sausage meat, perhaps? Certainly want to try this one next time I'm doing the cooking. Cheers!
Looks so delicious! Im glad i found your channel, im subscribed and look forward to more. Im in western North Carolina in the smoky mountains. What part of Scotland are you from? I enjoyed my trip there very much! I took train from london to Edinburgh, over to Glasgow, up to I am and back down . Wonderful trip! I love your Country!
I like this recipe. I cannot get haggis here in France but we have a boudin noir or the British black pudding. Can this be a substitute for the haggis?
I'd save myself an hour's worth of electricity and use pre-cooked chicken, and use Black Pudding as my partner doesn't like haggis (sorry, Cheryl). Looks absolutely divine!
Reminds me of Craig Ferguson joking about how Scots love to fry their food. I'd make this but there's the little hitch here in the states where haggis is illegal.
that looks very good. Its a shame you didn't add the onions and carrot from the poaching to the pie. i always hate to waste the extra veggies. Thanks for another great video.
Cheryl! That looks delicious & I'd never heard of it. I love haggis, but it's really hard to find decent stuff here in England. Some supermarkets sell it, but it just isn't the same as proper Scottish haggis made by & bought from a good local butcher in Scotland. Excellent recipe, I'll be trying it. 🙂😋
I might make this but without haggis as think that be hard to get here but also just don’t think I would like it. Might just add a bit more chicken in it. Thanks for the recipe
Hi Cheryl tried this tonight was fabulous. I added mushrooms instead of haggis .Always enjoy your recipes. Thank you x
That's a good idea, the mushrooms. I don't mind haggis but my wife would not have it.
I sent this to my sister and she asked what’s in haggis and I said I don’t know, but I do and then I told her I could order it from Aykroyd Scottish bakery in Detroit Michigan ,because I live in the states overnight. Me too! I’m part Scottish but live in USA and I just the accent.
Thats definitely happening in this house. First time I've ever seen that. I've had Balmoral chicken at a wedding but this is next level. And it's a 🥧. How absolutely perfect 🥰 thanks heaps for this. ❤
It’s such a nice way to enjoy chicken balmoral ❤ kind of deconstructed 😊
My wife made this for dinner/tea this evening, and everyone liked it. Definitely going to make this! We often have balmoral chicken, and always add a little whisky to the sauce… 😋
Hello from the States. Have a great week!

Absolutely beautiful recipes
Nice one Chef, 👩🏻🍳 😋👍
Oh my mercy, this looks so delicious. TY Cheryl. I'll be making it soon. I love sharing and cooking your recipes.
My gosh I haven’t had haggis since 1976. I agreed to try it as a teenager and it actually wasn’t bad.
i add parma ham instead of bacon as the smell of cooking bacon gives me the dry boak. Also I do go for the cheesy tatties. It's such a versatile dish a few shallots , shrooms in the mix works well too
Lovely my favourite, it' looks so delicious l will definitely be doing this 👍

For those in the US, just sub in some leftover meatloaf slices or small meatballs for the haggis. Should work a charm.
Hi Cheryl, o my god, my mouth is watering right now, looks gorgeous, keep up the good work, god bless 😂

so delicious. i have used black pudding instead of haggis because of preference. thank you.
First time I’ve seen your channel. This looks tasty. American here, so may omit haggis.
It looks so good!!

Thanks for another great video, Cheryl. You always deliver a great recipe for us to try.
That looks so delicious Cheryl! ❤
I would be serving the carrots from the stock on the side and mince the onions up and mix in the sauce. Like the idea of mushrooms instead of haggis!
Lil tip for poached chicken - allow it to cool in the pot of poaching water. It makes it 1000 times more hydrated and tasty. Try it out 👌
Ohhhhh lush ❤
Sliced haggis, never heard of this. I bet that would go great on a buttered roll right out of the bakers
Very popular at breakfast roll vans, either on its own, but more usually doubled-up with something else! 😋
@@MacMcCaskill oh aye with a bit of square sausage as well
Looks delicious.
Looks so delicious. ❤
Cheryl, are you going to be making the Coronation Quiche
I done it a wee while back Caroline ❤
Looks wonderful though without haggis. Thx will be on my menu x
Please move over here to Michigan and open up a restaurant !
I'll go to it every day ! lol 🤓

Very interesting.

Looks delicious and will definitely try but without the haggis! (I can't stand offal). Must be very tasty
Adding that mustard gives it a lovely flavor, I’m sure.
If you were using pastry, would it just be a top crust? How do you think this would be with a full, hot water crust?
You could try suet pastry as that would be lovely and soft😁😁
Yes just as a top crust my friend 😊❤
Lovely.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊

Or mix in the cheese, with your mash!

I'd love to try this, but I can't get haggis where I live; what's the predominant flavor so I can try to substitute it?
Scrapple in the U.S., maybe. I've had both, similar texture and offal-ness. Or Boudin, another scrap sausage.
You could use black/blood pudding 😊 if you like it! ❤
that looks very good. Its a shame you didn't add the onions and carrot from the poaching to the pie. i always hate to waste the extra veggies. Thanks for another great video.

some butchers do vacuum seal and send it over the wall
@@pamelaadam9207 Thanks Pamela! I'll look into that & hope it doesn't get confiscated by customs at the border 😂🙂
We don’t have haggis here in the states which is a shame but would sausage work as a substitute I wonder?
Also from the states, I'm wondering if scrapple would be a good substitute for haggis.
I would try scrapple.
I would go with black/blood pudding…if you like that ❤
