Number 1 should be partygate.
Just this week Rishi Sunak had a PR disaster of his own after leaving the D Day ceremony early for a TV interview. This comes after the not knowing how to use a petrol pump or a debit card debacle on the heels of "I have lots of middle class and working class friends....well not working class" gaffe. To be fair the Tory party as a whole is just a walking PR disaster.
Gammons still vote for them.
Or failing to use a hammer.
@@ethancantwell8549 I absolutely do not like the man but Rishi was hard done by that. He looked like he'd never held a hammer in his life but the lady had told him to do that. I'm all for clowning a completely out of touch politician but that isn't it. I'd say a better faux pas was when he asked the man in the soup kitchen if he has a business, very cringeworthy.
@@Mikefizzled I never knew he was told to do that. I assumed that was his idea of what to do. Also the soup kitchen is a good shout for cringe worthy moments.
@@ethancantwell8549 YT obviously doesn't allow a link to the video but here's a transcription:
"Let's go that one, but you're going to use this bit" She picks a hammer and points at the flat side
"Oh, Sideways?"
"Yeah"
When Prescott punched the guy his poll rating did go up.
Well Blair did ask for him to connect with the electorate more ;)
Sunak could fill the top 5 on his own just from this week alone
Nah, last 2 weeks I think.
A bit harsh. After all who could have possibly predicted that it might rain, what with the UK being basically a desert.
Prescott is a Yorkshireman - a bit like a Texan but more proud of his region.
Dominic Cummings, I bet you didn’t drive 264 miles rough 5hrs, to get to your dentist. That’s the distance Cummings drove from London to Barnard Castle for his “eye test”. Coincidentally his wife’s parents lived there.
That was hilarious - ´I drove a car with my wife and children to test my eyesight ´ 😂😂
Prescott had every right to defend himself, he had no clue what had hit him and natural instinct is to defend. As a former boxer his reaction is more likely to include a subconscious punch in the direction of the attack.
Fair play to John and I would never begrudge anyone reacting that way.
It wasn't in David Cameron's autobiography it was in an unauthorised biography.
Literally says in the video "an unauthorised biography with no sources", accompanied by a graphic of the cover of the book stating "the unauthorised biography".
WatchMojo is usually full of errors. Odd that JJ would get this wrong when even the article he's reading states it's an unauthorised biography!
The sad thing about Jeronimo is the test for TB is notoriously unreliable and can give false positives. The autopsy revealed jeronimo did not have TB.
Was just going to post about this. I could not get my heard around the refusal to do further tests before making that decision
They also half asphyxiated him, before they killed him, which is incredibly cruel. They DEFRA people were investigated by the RSPCA.
@@danic9304 Yeah, I immediately stopped the video to say the same thing, perhaps the narrator should have said.
British political disasters? The Tory party.
They have been atrocious, just wait until Labour get in though. We are going to be effed up severely.
and the labour party,lmao
I would wait to see how bad the next government will be before making any judgment.
All of it for a long long time 😂
SNP to be fair aswell
None of these are as big a gaffe as our current Prime Minister, standing on policies of national security, deciding to leave the 80th D-day ceremonies last week half way through in order to pre-record an interview to the mass dismay of everyone.
💯 % needs a fast revision but still have lots of time for more, lost count now how many Tories have made. 🔊 🎶 "Things Can Only Get Better" 😂
Boris Johnson was also in that dinner club
If I remember rightly, Charlie Brooker (writer of Black Mirror) publicly stated that he did not know of David Cameron's actions when he wrote that episode
Really?
I'm trying to remember when the episode came out, maybe it was just before the pig saga. If so, strange coincidence 🤔
I guess the pm in that episode was being forced against his will rather than doing it for a sordid ceremony. Still weird
The thing you missed slightly is that John Prescott was deputy prime minister at the time. Like your Vice president. Imagine a VP doing this. He massively divided opinion but personally I thought he was one of the best politicians of my lifetime. John apparently had 2 Jaguar cars and was known as 2 Jags before this. Afterwards he became known as 2 Jabs. Great man.
what a legend
Teresa May was also one of the people responsible for The Windrush Scandal, which had racist assumptions at its heart. Says a lot for British politics atm that she's now considered one of the few sensible tories left and is growing an elder statesman reputation fml :P
so a home office error is now racist
I met David Cameron once, the whole time my head was saying "DONTMENTIONTHEPIGDONTMENTIONTHEPIGDONTMENTIONTHEPIG".
Should have asked if he had any good pork recently.
So, the pig gate thing. The book was written by one Lord Ashcroft (who holds both British and Belizan nationality, and has 'belonger' status with the Turks and Caicaos islands, which has absolutely nothing to eva... I mean *avoid* tax, because being a billionaire just isn't rich enough), who - by virtue of donating a shitload of money to the Coservative Party - felt he was 'owed' a job in the Cabinet following the 2015 general Election, and didn't get it. So he put that in the book by way of revenge.
Mature bloke, really.
You need to check out Count Binface if you're aiming to get a truly rounded view of UK politics.
17:30 the "dining club" was the British equivalent of the Skull and Bones that your presidents Bush were members of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_and_Bones
We've had people charged for throwing milkshakes over politicians, including one last week here in the UK
It's called common assault, it's also an offence you can get arrested for.
Apart from Geronimo the alpaca which was incredibly sad, these are funny, yet highly embarrassing all at the same time.
#2 Bigoted Woman - that happened on my estate, literally a few streets away, it was hilarious 🤣
The admittance of how American media doesn't follow our politics, and yet the UK shows everything about American politics (especially elections) shows how blinkered the media is in the US in terms of educating it's people about the world around them. Sadly not very surprising. At least you as an individual are self educating however. :) Hopefully you find the BBC and ITV debates (the BBC was a seven party debate) to see what you think. (ua-cam.com/video/vuwQhZluOg4/v-deo.html)
Perhaps reflects the difference between UK and USA standing on the international stage. USA politics is more likely to affect UK lifestyle and world events than UK politics would affect USA lifestyle and world events.
@@iolog513 to a degree perhaps, but I do feel it potentially causes an introvert only America matters narrative for people. Plus the whole UK is America’s closest ally thing should mean interest is important.
@@ben-tendo not sure I can fully agree with you. USA is one of the "super-powers" and so who is president, is of international importance and international media coverage will reflect this. I am not sure how many UK citizens would know a great deal about USA politics, beyond presidential elections or news involving the president. UK was part of the European Union for around 50 years and I don't think that many UK people even knew who the elected European Member of Parliament representing their own area was; let alone how the European Parliament worked. I wonder how many UK citizens could name the current leader of the European Parliament or comment on her election process; or could name 25% of the current leaders of European states. I also wonder what percentage of UK citizens would actually be able to name more than 2 or 3 members of the current cabinet in the UK. Make that 4 or 5 members - as I just tested myself and came up with 13 out of the 23 - still couldn't recall 10 of them and I am interested in politics! In the USA and the UK (even though UK general election turnout is usually pretty good) I am not sure how closely politics is followed in informed detail (beyond headlines) due to various reasons like busy work/home lives; more urgent matters such as immediate family issues/circumstances; dissapointment in it; mis-information; lack of trust in polititions/media; prefer to do something else. There is still plenty of info. and media discussion available in USA about international politics, for people that want to know about it - and even videos like this one, which introduces people to UK politicians (although not current.)ĵ
Throwing anything at anyone is technically assault, even water 😅
Or a milkshake?
@@stephenlee5929 Yes. Or cement. Or a coffee cup.
Am I the only one who caught him saying “Edward 2” reading “Edward II” 😂, he’s obviously not used to saying monarch’s names I know but still made me lol. Fyi for peops who don’t know it’s read/said “Edward the second”
Cummings wasn’t forced to resign over the Barnard Castle affair, just to be clear. He left No. 10 much later than that
The book which 'revealed' the 'Pig Gate' story was not written by Cameron. It was a biography which was low on sources for some of its claims. So no-one really knows the truth of this story- but we all like to think it's true!
I never knew there were that many ways of saying ‘Gaveston’
A shame about Ed Miliband. Actually a gd man.
PieFace Cameron didn't put that in his book, it was written by Lord Ashcroft so totally unsubstantiated but because no one likes Cameron we were all more than happy to take it as gospel 🤣. The issue Prescott talked about after being egged was that he said he's just been hit in the face with something and he didn't know what it was and he felt something running down his face and neck which he thought may have been blood. It was just instinct and he didn't get any bad press that I remember, it's a natural reaction to defend yourself.
I suppose it's possible Ashcroft was telling porkies.
When they write a new list, they will have to add all Sunak's PR disasters, in the current general election. Some to be going on with, leaving the D Day 80th anniversary commemorations early, getting photobombed by a boat full of Lib Dem supporters and announcing the election, while getting soaking wet in the rain outside No 10, to the sound of Things Can Only Get Better, by D:ream, which was Tony Blair's campaign song. Also why does he keep saying the word plan? 😁😆🤣
They tried to have something like Arthur seat lol , that's an attraction to climb in edinburgh to view all of edinburgh london has some beauty but nothing like edinburgh
(Queen E is a bit dead JJ)
So possibly not following you think?
@@keithbeall7981 Maybe Charlie is!
Pay attention Matt, JJ looked to the heavens as he was talking.
In Tudor times, Cardinal Wolsey lost an eye to a thrown egg.
According to this British politics started in the 1980s. What about the Profumo Affair or Jeremy Thorpe (Rinkagate)?
lettuce?
I thought that lol
it's a while ago now, but there was Kinnock falling over on the beach and getting a bit wet. And there was Kinnock at the Sheffield Rally.
Thumping egg man did prescott no harm at all. Even Heseltine supported him in a TV interview.
Dominic Cummings; one of the people responsible for the ruinous Brexit.
Yes Charlie wrote that about that
Boris was in the same club...
The van said if you're here illegally go home or face arrest. What's wrong with that? it could have said if you break the law stop it or you will be arrested. same thing
Re: Starmer running for Prime Minister. In the UK, someone doesn't "run for Prime Minister". The Party is running for Government in the election. If his Labour Party wins, as leader of that Party, he will by default be made Prime Minister. The Labour Party could choose another Leader, or put someone else forward. So it's the Party that gets elected, not the Leader as such, although most people in the UK are confused by this too.
Prescot's numbers did go up after the punch.
Two Jags (the car)Prescott thus became Two Jabs Prescott, best publicity he had at the time,
"Queen smiling but not for long" is possibly the best intro I've ever heard!
Prescott was definitely a PR win, he's relatively liked on all sides of politics generally, though there have been a few actual PR disasters in his career.
Also it's assault, battery and criminal damage. I think it should be considered terrorism too - using violence and the fear of extreme violence to force people to disengage from the political process, IDK what that is if not terrorism, but apparently I'm alone in this legal theory. We have a common law legal system though so who knows..
The reason people wanted to save Geronimo was because the testing system was faulty. He had tested positive twice but both times he had been primed with tuberculin, which produced false positives. The eventual postmortem report (which the govt took months to release) found that he did not in fact have any signs that should be present if he had TB.
8:04 Maybe the King does now instead.
Poor Geronimo 😢. What a disgrace 💜
TB is readily treated with antibiotics, and prevented with [the V intervention]. British law lags.
2019.. You're not serious about believing it was due to a bat, are you?! (The evidence for GoF research is overwhelming at this stage, and was provably suppressed at the time, as evidenced by now revealed high ranking communications in the British government)
The Millband sandwich was in part because he is from a Jewish background and there was antisemitism surrounding it. His answer was to eat a bacon sandwich in public.
The Queen doesn't watch your channel, she's dead.
Prescott in general or party gate
8:00 Sadly Her Majesty the Queen died about 18 months ago.
to be fair, those pork ribs might have ended up being a bit too.... salty...
Cameron didn’t write the book,Lord Ashcroft did.
She watches your channel? You remember she's not with us anymore right? :(
😂😂 I love watching your horror at how ridiculous uk is 😂😂😂
07:59 just to point out, Queen Elizabeth II is no longer with us, unless she already subscribed before her death, I’m afraid you’re gonna be waiting a while l lol
Milliband being of jewish ancestry may be one of the reasons that he didnt seem to be enjoying his bacon sandwich?
Saying that, i know many people with similar ancestry that enjoy a bacon butty. Ive heard that David Baddiel will snatch your fingers off if there's a free bacon sarnie on the go. Also a bacon sandwich is normally the first port of call for a few ex muslim friends of mine after leaving Islam. I asked some of them why bacon and not alcohol first, and they all confirmed that the bacon sandwich is a bigger F-you to their former life.
I find that a bacon sandwich fixes everything. Except Milliband's career.
Extra salty pork ribs 😃
That's just politicans in general.
its about money taking care of money
Bulliginton club
There's a fallout 4 room based on it right next to swans pond
Better not read "Papillon" 🐖
Ed Miliband bacon sandwich was told because he is a non practicing Jew
We know the name of the bat from 2019. Anthony Faucci.
🇬🇧 Never heard of the mound or fields of wheat. Prescott just defended himself and we all knew it.
I doubt the queen watches this channel as she died 2 years ago, and as regards to HRH Liz vs PM Thatch, just women eh?
They certainly should go home ......
You really belive it was a bat huh
Maybe they should have had other languages on the "GO HOME" buses so illegals could read it in their own language !!??
You still believe in the BAT
