Fun fact:
Orthopedics = Orthopaedics
Orthopaedics - traditional English spelling used more in academic settings (so you'll see that spelling in the hospitals and departments)
Orthopedics - more Americanized spelling
Both can be used interchangeably! Not that I had to look that up while editing this video....
How can an IMG get an elective in orthopedic surgery? and can you please share Dr A email address if by chance an IMG can get through elective through his guidance?
Dr. A is a wonderful colleague, talented surgeon, and all around good guy...glad to see this! Wonderful work as always Andy.
Hello Dr. R. Greetings from Jamaica. I love your channel and videos, especially your most recent one. Ill be starting nursing next year as a male, but I love your content!
@@jelanthompson2614 Thanks Jelan, good luck!
Thank you so much! It’s always a pleasure highlighting the amazing faculty here
@@martinrutkowskimd3709 thank you so much sir!
I’d like to see you arms, Martin. 😂
Thank you for showing a black man who is rising in his speciality. Always inspiring for me as a Black med student to see people who look like me thrive.
YOU CAN DO IT!
There are many smart blacks who can do stuff.
Man if a white person said this....
@@tylernestor5175 medicine is run by white male doctors tho…there’s a huge physician shortage in black doctors lol. You’re goofy
@@oamegbe its not white people its j…Cant say but you can finish the word xD
As an ambivert, Nigerian, and premedical student interested in orthopedic surgery, this video was the perfect way to end off my finals week. Thank you ND MD and Dr. Agochukwu!
I agree with you
How you making out in the field?
Welcome. From Ethiopian orthopedics resident
What does ambivert have to do with anything lol
I could listen to this doctor talking like for hours long! What a voice !🙈
My thoughts exactly!!
“The ability to restore people to function.”
I felt that.
He seems like a fantastic surgeon/human being. One look at those arms, definitely knew he was in ortho 😆
Yes a Nigerian doctor, thank you for the insight into orthopedics!!!!
Aren't Nigerian doctors the most common black doctors, even though black doctors are overall less
@@M16xDr0pSh0tz They're also computer scientists too a lot of them.
Yes will be showing my 9 year old this video
This guy is a beast. Mean that in the most sincere way possible.
He seems like he would be so kind and comforting to have as a doctor. Like he would be *the* most reassuring doctor to have guiding you through surgery.
You still healthy?
something about his demeanor reminds me of the Psalm "It is well with my soul". You dont get that kind of energy unless you've been through the fire. Ture confidence has no need to be arrogant.
What a talented, dedicated, kind human being. Almost magical.
Probably the most completed doctor in the world.
His health, passion for job, knowledge, approach, having a wife and a kid is something everyone should work on!
This guy is a new role model for me!
I just can't get enough of this series. Thank you for producing these!
What a smart, gentle, and honorable man.
I agree 🙂
The way doctors talk is so satisfying… Like yeah they’re smart but damn, they sound so intelligent and are always well-spoken. RESPECT.
I think this is the best one yet! You can tell he is genuine and cares so much for his patients!
Just wanted to say that what you do is so great. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule as a medical student to help out other students with these tough career choices. I’m on the dental side of medicine and these kind of resources are invaluable to students. Keep up the good work!
👏
thank you so much :) just happy to see these amazing physicians telling their stories
I’ve had a dislocated shoulder for about a year now, I’ve tried many things but was to no avail. I’m really disturbed now I don’t know what to do pls I’m confused...
What can I do?
I need your help pls...
He seems like such a great surgeon and person! The way he talks about what he does, you can tell it was such an accomplishment for him to make it, and he feels so lucky to be helping people. Bless him, we need more doctors like him.
Wow him talking about his older brother. Ahh man, I’m sure he is so proud of you!
Just shared this with my 17 year old child who recently expressed interest in this specialty as a career path. Thank you! This was an amazing interview with an insightful and personable doctor.
"73 questions" series is a very interesting series! You've done an excellent job with both the questions and choosing interesting doctors to interview!
The fact that he’s Nigerian inspires me a lot as a Nigerian too. Really nice video👍
Dr. A!!! I worked with him back 2013/2014. He’s such a gem to work with! Smart & kind 💪🏾💪🏾
My god this guy is so cool! More like a role model.
I love anatomy too. I had the top grades in anatomy and physiology. I loved it so much that I only had to study for less than an hour and was prepared to take the anatomy labs exam. It's really easy to be successful if you're infatuated with with medical science.
One of these days we are going to need to see "73 Questions with ND MD" 🤪

ND MD Your almost there 👀 we need this
Fascinating person. Doctor is so honest, direct, grateful, and highly skillful. Praise God for the kid in the dirt bike accident who was able to move his arms and legs after the late night surgery.
I'm an Orthopedic Surgery resident and I feel very inspired watching Dr. A, I wish he could be my mentor, I relate a lot to him and seems like a great guy
Is it everything you expected, I hope to become one in the future(college grad here)
Awesome interview. I loved this. Seems like such a cool guy.
Dr. A is a resilient and obviously extremely gifted person. He got to his present position with passion, hard work, and resilience. He did not back down to adversity. He got stronger with adversity! That is the message I received and hopefully will be the message that other people will receive, no matter what your age, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background.
Omg, huge respect for keeping the camera fluid as well as your mic levels while in the OR with multiple physicians AND you still kept the questions coming - I could never pull that off in one take 👏🏾👏🏾
My dude is a surgeon and he’s jacked. Cool to hear he was a former bodybuilder
Paramedic here, I absolutely relate with Dr. A in his reasoning for entering the field of medicine. I became a paramedic for the same reason, losing a sibling and wanting to give others the chance she didn’t get. Hoping to work my way up to PA one day. Thank you for your videos!
We loved watching this video and appreciate your hard work and dedication to your profession!
What a wonderful member of the medical world- His dedication and compassion is so clear!
I’ve been waiting for this episode!!! thank youu

The joy seen in your eyes recalling the 18 year old dirt bike patient..... wow ..... overall a wonderful interview..... I love this channel & MDs selected are just magical!
Been waiting for this one for a long time.✨
Thank you for investing time and effort in the 73 question series. 😌
Great guy! As I am healing from a broken tib/fib I can appreciate his dedication and professionalism. I'm sure his patients are very lucky to have him as their doc.

Finishing my first semester as a med student and it has sapped my motivation. This is exactly what I needed to watch!
Another awesome physician and such an amazing specialty! Super great video, excellent ND! 💖
Very refreshing video! I'm at my second year of orthopaedic surgery residency. I was having hard times and Dr.A put a spark on my heart
I appreciate that last advice thank you Andy for filming and thanks to that doctor in ortho, appreciate it man.💯
so inspiring for me . my specialty is surgery which I love most .Currently , I am going to sit the final step of surgical exam. and I cant wait to see how patients recover from operation progressively , my joyous moments .
This video is so helpful! I’m in first year of medical school right now and I'm very interested in Orthopedic surgery so this was a very much needed video! Thanks Andy!
Thanks! You have no idea how much this means to me.. to personally see someone who looks just like me be able to accomplish the goal I hope to reach! Its very inspiring! Thanks again
I felt the same way!
I have an intrigue in various fields of medicine but orthopedics genuinely just makes me smile. A sports medicine fellowship would make me cry upon acceptance.
Really enjoyed this one Andy, thank you.
My fav part in the whole series ❤️
Incredible interview, incredible physician.
Great video. Exceptionally effective in capturing the content in a simple, meaningful, and effective manner.
As a patient it is interesting to see providers when they aren’t working. So many of these fantastic people do not get the recognition they deserve.
This is great! I just started my orthopaedic residency (first 1.5 years is general surgery though)
Great video 👌🏻🔥+ keep interviewing surgeons helps a lot
Ioved this video🥳
The best part is when he talks about his juniors.
Taking a break from studying for STEP 1 to watch this video and it was the inspiration I needed.
Excellent (usual) questions, with superb responses. Bravo to this MD, his work and non-work balance. Unfortunate as to what occurred to his brother, but the sad positive is the contribution he has made to all the hospitals he has worked at and their patients. Thanks again ND MD.
He's such a beautiful person!
These interviews are super interesting. You have a gift of interviewing these professionals. Best of luck to this man. What a humble, intelligent, great guy.
I've recently had hip surgery and have spent 1.t day in the hospital and got a chance to observe medical staff. What I've noticed is that the good doctors have this calm, structured vibe to them. The same applies to the good nurses. This interview reminded me of my fascination with skilled health care workers. Was a pleasure to listen to the amazing doctor.
Love the video, we need more diversity in the medical field. I'm an undergrad major in nursing. I like the OR too my goal is to become a CRNA.
Wow, what an awesome doctor! Thanks so much for this video. My dear nephew is in the second year of med school and he’s decided he wants to pursue orthopedic surgery. This is going to help him a lot!
Love this guy
I’m a clinical pharmacist, and I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks!
this man is smart. the ending said it all , its not about patient care but rather dictated by the insurance company managing the patient care.
appreciate you for the videos man I was talking myself out of med school but I'm excited again because of your videos.Great video work too
