Great vid thanks soo much for it. I just got a monster energy 2021 250f. Your the only guy really testing and showing the button. All other videos are just explaining the app not how to use the button. If you made a more detailed one again you’re get tons of views.
Awesome video, picked up a 21 450f last week and been having a lot of fun getting back into riding. it’s definitely the most power I’ve had on a dirt bike and I gotta keep reminding myself to be careful, I mostly do trail riding and tight woods but I won’t be hitting the tight woods for a while on this, with any speed anyways. Any advice for a rusty rider would be great
Great video! But one thing is really confusing me… I have a 2021 250f. I know how to send a map to the bike. Let’s say for instance I want to install the linear map and also want to install the more torque map. How do I install both of those maps and be able to change in between them with the button on the handle bar if that makes sense? So let’s say I have it on the linear map and I would like to switch up by hitting the button to the torque map, how do I install it to work this way? Thanks!
There are (2) positions to send maps - send your Linear Map to Map position #1 and Torque Map to position #2....then you can switch between them. I think Map 1 position is no blue light and Map 2 position is blue light on. Check the owners manual or FAQ's in the app.
Hey, thanks for all the little bike snippets. Which would you say is better for GNCC/Hare & Hounds style racing in your experience out of the YZ250F (also considering the WR, but that just seems like it’s heavier and slower with no real benefits...), Sherco 300 SEF Factory and Husky FE350?
YZ250F (or YZ250FX) have easy EFI mapping options and excellent suspension. The YZ250F exhaust is loud and the ergos are a little wide feeling up front. Sherco SEF Factory offers a little more off road focused smoother engine feel with very good KYB suspension and comes with lights and it is also a little heavier than the YZ250F or FE350. The Husky FE350 is tuned for off road with smooth power and plush suspension along with thin ergos and comes with lights (like the Sherco). I think the 350 is the best overall combination power/weight/handling when it comes to 4-stroke off road bikes. You won't go wrong with any of the choices you mentioned and consider dealer support too.
@@mxengineer1 Thanks man. I was looking at this choice a while back but good old COVID-19 put the breaks on my bike change. My heart is saying Yamaha or Sherco, head is saying Husky... 🤔
@@Mockle07 If you are able to bum a test ride on any of the bikes it may help you decide. They are all very good and capable - get the one that makes you want to go riding all the time:)
Just got a 2019 WR450F with GYTR ECU/Yosh/CCU - only had one hour on it! Really having fun with the Power Tuner App. Only issue is the bike came without the blue button, for some reason so I need to shut off and upload with my phone when I change maps. I will likely add the blue button. PO said he did not have it. I also just converted mine to street legal here in MI. It was super easy. Too bad is is 10 degrees out right now....
WR450 is a fun bike! The ability to dial in engine settings is great too! I am not familiar with the blue button application timing but I think it was 2019 on the YZ450F and typically the WR gets updates a year later. Hopefully you can simply add the blue button and be able to switch maps on the fly. Be careful on the frozen trails - or use studded tires. Maybe time to switch to your snowmobiles now;)
Thank you for this video. I have a fully modded 2015 WR and am on the fence about the YZ. I love my bike. It has plenty of power with the GYTR ecu, and suspension is good enough for me at the MX track. I was riding it in the slow map for years then changed it the standard map and it was a whole new bike! I’m just wondering how much better a 235lb bike with 5-8+ HP will be for my skill level at the track….it’s the $10k question. Thanks for the video. The first map reminds me of my WR!
I think the general engine character of the reverse head YZ250F has not changed that much - still great partial throttle response and torque feel. The chassis has plenty of refinement (mostly targeting better supercross performance) but is a little lighter and has better steering feel....and it is always fun to buy a new bike;)
There are many options to tune the engine to your liking with the Yamaha Power Tuner Smart Phone app. It is easy to try different settings to see how they effect the bike. Hello, I’m starting relatively new to dirt bikes and I was looking into the 2020 YZ450F I’m a experienced rider I had a 2013 ninja 600 and I don’t want something I’m going to get bored of or something that will kill me I figure with the mapping I have room too grow and ease into the bike, any advice? Thanks in advance❤️
A Ninja 600 is a very capable and quick street bike so you have some perspective. If you have primarily street riding experience 450 moto bikes would be like the Ninja 1000 - very quick and also more inertia so a little more weight feel in motion and also a lot faster than your 600. With the mapping you can smooth out the power and response on a 2020 YZ450F perhaps enough to give you confidence and grow your off road riding skills. Riding mistakes can happen on any size bike however more power tends to amplify the mistake. 250F's are fun for a wide skill range of riders. 450's can be velvet sledgehammers.
I was in the same place. But I got a KLX230R to start on trails and some track days with my son. It did anything I asked. I just got a 250F. Now I’m learning how to ride it cause don’t get it twisted it’s a race bike. also FYI race bikes don’t have any Warenty.
No man. Just no. Get a 250f. You will have a tonnnn more fun being able to twist throttle and rev it out and ride it hard. And actually learn and progress and get better. 450s are even too much for pros. A lot of them don’t think there even needs to be a 450 class. They’re dangerous. I sold my 2018 Yz450f it was most powerful 450 ever produced at the time. I’ve owned many 250 2 strokes and a couple older crf450s. And they do not compare to how powerful these new 450/s are. They can get away from you so easy
YZ250F has a lighter feel though it weighs about 228 lbs before gas while the FX350 is about 224 lbs before gas. The 250F has a less rotating inertia so feels a little lighter in motion though the FX350 does not feel heavy.
Yesterday I bought a new 2020 FX350, because here in the UK Husqvarna are not importing the 2021 FX350. I am yet to ride it, and there are a few components I will be changing, radiators, hoses, Rekluse core torque drive manual, Clarke 1 (easy pull), maybe even the obscenely priced Brembo brakes, (the Magura’s look like they are from a serious downhill Mountainbike, not a 100kg Dirtbike), I have ordered the Seat concept foam and cover, and will carve that down further, I am 5ft 6in, with a 29 inch inseam.........it feels lighter and more compact that the 2020 250f I rode in Wales last Friday.

What’s better for trail the linear trail (hard pack) or the smooth linear (slippy)
I preferred the smooth linear map for tighter trail riding (smoothed the throttle response).
The Leanier would be better for beginning riders in my opinion
