They should rebuild the 450 that Chase Road in the 5 miles of hell and go through it all and maybe the motor even though they just went through it it did get a Little hot lol
@@nepicness Maybe they had a bad run of them, I've read of a couple different guys with same issue as me. Removed and installed 3-4 times and still wouldn't seal. Looked fine.
Phil Ward with rad caps and thermostats it’s weird, on any male or model with any brand of part, it seems like the failure rate is about 50%+, I check new ones to make sure they work or I return them immediately for an exchange. It’s crazy that it’s like that, but that’s what I’ve noticed.
Thank you TJ for showing your bike build. I have noticed that the Tusk brand has really taken off the last few years with really great quality parts at a good price point. The hoses are really nice. FWIW, I put Flex Bars, ASV levers, and Fasst foot pegs on all my dirt bikes. Good job and the bike looks really nice!!
I kind of wish they wouldn't promote their private label brand as much. But then again, higher profit margins allow them to justify making videos. I used some Tusk stuff, it's not bad and at a good price point.
He could’ve not had the company support and just a discount where price still mattered. They do make the best priced stuff that still works great. It can cut the cost of some of these upgrades in half.
Nothing wrong with quality parts at a good price. We are riders building product for fellow riders. The products added to our builds are all by choice (Tusk or not). Gytr has a radiator fan that plugs directly into the existing harness, you installed a tusk hour meter when... The app has that. Your stalling issue? There is a TSB for a computer reflash, that yamaha covers to fix that hard hot restart. Look up "yamaha yz 4t tuners" on face book for maps.
Just a word of advice for you since you mentioned you had thumb surgery. I would lift you levers until they are nearly level. I noticed your levers are pointing quite low.. what that does is put so much strain on your thumbs, especially under heavy braking … you’ll also feel every bump and it’s very dangerous for big jump landings.. in some countries that made it a law to level out the levers in super cross to avoid thumb injuries and also horrific wrist injuries 👍🏼 Try it .. you’ll get used to it and you won’t need that absorbing handlebar either 😎
RMC is my go to place for parts. I love their how to videos, and especially loved their 5 miles of hell series, awesome. However, many of us out here have 15+ year old bikes and use RMC to keep them running so we can keep riding. Furthermore, with presently 17 million people out of work I think it is rather decedent to buy a new bike and then spend $2500 more to "upgrade it". Just my 2 cents worth.
Glad the suspension wasn’t sent off and factory A kit stuff put in and a full race engine! Regular guy build with some practical upgrades. I probably would’ve done the levers, wrap around handguards, skid plate, shark fin, and maybe Lexi exhaust
Very surprised radiator braces weren't at the top of the list for protection. One of the first upgrades I did on my 250fx as the radiator mounts are well known to be about as strong as an empty coke can. Otherwise, love the build. Congrats on an excellent bike!
@@rmatvmc BPD makes some great products. No doubt about that. I have the Devol braces + guards on my '15. The braces tie back to the frame to add additional rigidity. When I first purchased my bike, it didn't have the braces and one of the radiators was bent in at the inside mounts. I was able to bend it back and the braces have kept it there. Braces are usually the first recommended mod in most of the 250fx groups and forums as the weak mounts are well know for bending relatively easily.
I liked seeing a "trail" bike get some love. Not much else to do to an FX to make perform better. Basically shave weight (makes me question the Flex bars bc of this) and add protection. Maybe upgrade shrouds too, to help you squeeze with your knees. Other than that, this guy covered most everything. Hard to improve near perfection!!
Why not run the gytr radiator fan. It's probably cheaper than the tusk. And has proper mounts on the radiator and has a plug directly into the wiring harness for it!?

Premix Peter it was 2020 as well. Riding the 250x doesn’t tire me out at all , can be in the tough stuff or ringing it out . Definitely brings more of a smile to my face then the fx , I do envy the e start but only when I’m on the side of some steep stuff or scenario similar.
@@RelentlessCo Gotcha. For me it really depends on the terrain, generally the tighter/more technical/more vertically adverse it is the more I like a 2 stroke and the more open/flat/high speed it it is the more I like the 4 stroke.
I love the bike i just recently bought a 2017 yz250fx and put 4 hours on it since i bought it and the motor locked up so I haven't been able to fully enjoy it yett..
@@rmatvmc no I bought the bike used. i bought it with 20 hours and I have only put 4 hours on it since I bought it. so it has just under 25 hours on the bike total and its locked up. Vary frequent oil changes with Yamaha lube and fresh oil filters It was fun for the little time I rode it. Just don't have the thousands to have a shop rebuild the motor. And their is not step by step UA-cam video yet...
Maybe should have just started with the WR for the fan and spark arrest....and a headlight for really dark woods enduro too. Either way, I'm in love with Yamaha these days. They are RAPIDLY becoming the dirt bike company of this century. I feel like nobody is throwing down the hammer every model year like them .... This was a great video. Is there any reason that most, if not all the parts reviewed wouldn’t work on a WR250F? I have my sights set on the WRF but the more I see the YZF the more I question my decision.

That's a good point. The GYTR fan would have been a great choice as well, but the Tusk fan allows for more temperature adjustability, a larger shroud for better cooling and of course it is our brand, so we wanted to spread the word about how our universal fan will fit on just about any bike that has a battery. Did you have to re map it when you got it? Mine was running really rich. Mapped it for a little more torque. I have ridden 450's for the last 13 years and this bike is a blast to ride. It revs so much higher and feels considerably lighter.
I have been running the "MX power feeling" map, and Keefer's "smooth linear (slippy)" map. I agree, this bike is so much fun to ride! I am honestly faster on it than I was on my 450 and it feels so much lighter and agile. Just typing this makes me want to go riding. - TJ
Hey Paul, the 2 maps that I have used the most are the MX power feeling map and Keefer's smooth linear (slippy) map. I use the smooth linear map most of the time I'm riding single track, especially technical rocky trails and also when the moto track gets a little too much water and is slippery. I use the MX power feeling map pretty much everywhere else (moto tracks, turn tracks, hill climbs and sand). - TJ

I have a 2020 and I have been having trouble getting it to restart and to start in general have you heard of anyone having bike run to rich? I have found some info online saying that the dealer needs to reflash the ecu .I purchased the fmf 4.1 slip on and have been alternating between high revving and torque maps. What maps are you using and do you know where to find any more maps online?
Hey man I have one in Australia and it also stalls easily and is hard to start. I'm going to try a different battery but also the maps made by Keefertesting.com seem to improve the bike a bit as well.
The Tusk universal fan kit works with just about any bike that has a 12 volt battery and room behind one of the radiators. Check out the instructions on the product page. - TJ

Your frame guard is not installed properly ua-cam.com/video/TbRHd5cnePk/v-deo.html . It should go behind the kick stand. You have to loosen the hex bolt and slide the frame guard behind it.

Except for that pos radiator cap, for ktm at least, it won't seal and keeps shooting coolant out the overflow tube. Just sitting in a box now.

Jussi #567 get the major mounts I’ve broken a few sets of those fasst bars. You won’t break mako stuff and it’s better feel.

The Bullet Proof Designs radiator guard is super tough and protects the radiators very well. Which one did you go with on yours?

I have a 2020 YZ250X , the 250FX just feels dead and made me lazy . Much less exciting then 250
