- yea this was supposed to come out like 2 months ago but school happened... my bad.
Thanks heaps to the mod creator for the mod, no hate/shade directed, just me playing the mod and being an idiot.
Also yes I know there's now like 10 new versions, this took a while to edit.

Wow I really didn’t expect the amount of support on this video, I appreciate it gang!!!
here’s the shaders that i used by the way, if anyone would like em: github.com/ckosmic/minecraft-psx
You can interact with baby Craig if you place him down.
He will make a baby type of sound if you right click it.
Oh sick i don’t think i noticed cuz i accidentally had some of my sounds off D:
I think this entire thing would be a lot scarier if it implied that there was a horror monster but it never did anything, maybe had little interactions with the player but was never in clear view.
Amazing video btw!
It’d definitely benefit from that cuz it’d build more tension and psychologically scare the player. Once you show the monster, it’s suddenly not as scary as the fear of the unknown is pretty much lost. Thanks by the way, I’m glad you did!!
From the fog is a great example of this.
I do like Minecraft horror, kind of, but I’d call it “Horror.” Emphasis on the quotation marks. It’s not scary.
Honestly yep, the odd cheap jumps are might get you every now and then, but it’s like most mainstream horror nowadays unfortunately
I like the corny shit sometimes ngl. Horror that's just FUN can go hard
Y@@crispy7499
Yeah I do wants me fun horror movies
Fair point, if it doesn't take itself too seriously, then it can be pr sick still
@@crispy7499 exactly- Yes-
I love the intro
Thanks puff 🐐

CAWper
the warden scares me more then the dwellers lmao
I'd say a good horror mod will be something not completely just monster.
Say a creature that messes with you.
It'll try and get reactions. But not truly get violent for the most part.
Maybe take blocks.
Break chests.
And even kill pets just to see you react but it won't face you directly because it's kind of a coward in the beginning.
But it'll get confident over time if you keep letting it get away with it's actions and eventually get confident enough to rush you if allowed but will back off it gets low and restart the process of seeing how far it can push you slowly learning what it can do to push your buttons and once it gets the idea it can beat you it'll charge head in.
Possibly start out with just simple stalking and do more and more messes up things until you snap at it or it realizes it might be able to beat you.
It'll even feed off livestock and steal from your base or something.
That's really complicated though so eh
100% agree, a good horror mod definitely needs quite a bit of depth, and slowly built tension and stakes. The idea of it just messing with you to see how far it can go is a great idea cuz it makes the player paranoid, especially in a world where they’re ‘alone’
@@Waffle_ you could also make a deceptive creature. Something that'll drop off items that are useful to the player making you trust it enough to approach so it can get a free kill. That'll probably only work once but it'd be pretty shocking if something you trusted turned out to have very ill intent
Idk Someguy's creatures (Man Bear and The Obsessed) do this type of horror really well, and it's a shame that Someguy is reluctant to release either of them to the public because of Dweller clone printers.
@@Mythic_Ghost2301 yeah. People really make it hard to see all the good mods past all the dweller copies.
This is the type of horror I wanna see, instead of 'Oooh scary monster stalks you, oooh now he's screaming and running at you.'
10:50 Horror Minecraft: Oh I'm not scary? Here's something for you.
When I think about bad Minecraft horror I just think about how badly butchered the goatman is. As a Kentucky native that thing in the goatman mod acts more like some cracked out skin walker. While urban legend has a few different ideas of what it does and how it kills you, there are three important elements to it. 1. It lives by railroads, specifically rail bridges, 2. It carries an axe and ambushes its victims, 3. It has the ability of mimicry and will sometimes use voices, mostly its known to mimic sheep since people assume its harmless before it runs out and strikes.
The fear of the goatman legend isn't its stupid eerie voice and how it taunts you. Its in its methodical stalking, its need to wait until you lower your guard. Then it either butchers you with an axe or frightens you so bad you run in front of a train or fall to your death from the bridge.
IMHO, the main issue with Minecraft "horror" is that it relies too much on creatures that kill you. Unless it's Hardcore, dying isn't scary, just annoying, and the "scary" part of these deaths merely come from the surprise of being jumped on by a lanky dude with overpowered damage.
I think what Minecraft needs is horror mods that make the game weird. The mod Distant Friends gives that kind of experience if you do not know you have it installed (it got you when a random Steve popped in!), but the anomalous events have to be more varied. Like, what if some chunks suddenly became "cursed" and music no longer played in them? What if mobs don't spawn? What if mobs do spawn, but their AI is disabled and all they do is stare at you? What if you are in a mineshaft and sculk started quickly spreading towards you for no reason, and caused Blindness once you touched it? What if we remove Illagers and Piglins altogether from the game so you are truly alone, like back in Alpha?
There are many ways to make Minecraft eerie and build up tension without reskinning the Cave Dweller over and over. The issue with creature mods is that, the moment you embody a threat, it's just you and it throwing fists until one of you dies, and maybe it's just me, but I am no longer afraid of death.
distant friends is such a cool concept but i wish it had more player models than just one guy in a penguin onesie and rarer spawns, if there's some way to change that like a config file it'd be great
The intro stop motion was fucking amazing, time to watch the video
Thanks mate, hope you enjoy 🤝
@@Waffle_ turns out he was the spy from tf2, that's why you died 👿!!
The animated intro is crazy
> says that Minecraft horror is not scary
> Download scary mods
> Gets scared by normal Minecraft ambience
> Sees first signs of the mods
> Runs away from it
> Runs around aimlessly in the middle of a thunderstorm at night
> Enters a hole and dies
Absolutely brilliant
average waffle horror experience
baby craig is the best part of this mod
FOR REALLLLL, BABY CRAIG = 🐐🐐🐐
great video ♥. It is very annoying how often these mods are released, really makes the niche feel so saturated already
Honestly a great video - and thank you for introducing me to this mod I kinda wanna check it out now!
No worries glad you enjoyed mate!
Hey! I'm a friend of the creator of the mod!
Currently, he is recreating the mod (which I had the opportunity to playtest).
You're gonna *love* it :)
From the sneak peeks I've soon so far, it looks sick!
@@Waffle_ You're absolutely right! When it comes out, I hope you enjoy :D
i love the Calvin-styled chill music
The the last of us music, this dude a Calvin fan, and i like that
Both are the goats
A suspicious amount of villages, i might just have to report you to the FBI...
Also your outro was the actual jumpscare jfc man 💀
I swear i had nothing to do with it i swear!! Also that’s my bad LMAO i had to replace the original song cuz copyright issues unfortunately :/
@@Waffle_ all good, I can relate. It was very sad tho that the least scary thing is still scarier than Minecraft dwellers tho
i NEED manbear to come out it's the only horror mod i actually want to download
Thx for that jumpscare at the end man 😭16:14
No Problem...😈
I still enjoy some of the staples of Minecraft horror such as the one who watches, which terrifies me.
Same, a lot of the ogs still hold up pretty well!
this is great man cant wait to see more videos from you
thanks man I appreciate it! I really wanna take it a step up from here and refine the videos more, so its not just me playing a mod lol
@@Waffle_ sorry to comment again but you should up the mic volume, its a little quite, also the animation is killer would love to see more
@@joshuwitz5895 100%, definitely need to up the gain and lower the bass a bit listening to it now! and thanks btw, i fs wanna do more in the future
Holy shit my friend made this mod it's trippy just casually seeing this goober in a UA-cam thumbnail-
The amount of times i was internally screaming in my head as you complain about not having torches walking past gravel, with 2 raw iron, enough cobblestone to make a furnace and a ready to go crafting table. Any ways i enjoy the video nonetheless!🤓👍
Sometimes the little monkey in my brain has other ideas… and i forget to check my inventory…😔Glad you enjoyed!
@@Waffle_ you stay goofy my gober glad you don't overthink things and have fun
@@tobyfogg5861 :DDD
i feel like comparing minecraft horror to roblox horror (ALLTHOUGH TRUE) isint fair because every type of media is experiencing a horror drought
Yeah your right, unfortunately most horror media right now is pretty mediocre
@@Waffle_ the formula goes
1) senseless violent threat that is basicaly a killing machine and will most likely end half of the cast before the next step
2) characters find something out about the monster, this being either how to appease it or that the humans are actualy... BAD?!@?!?!?!?
3) the milisecond step 2 is over, the monster will not claim another victim for the rest of the movie unless it kills out of hunger or need
4) they find a way to kill/subdue/appease/escape the monster, and the only good character left in the cast needs to make their daring sacrifice so everybody else can escape
5) they then go on to live completley normal lives... (insert jumpscare in the last 15 seconds)
writers have a lot of trouble playing their cards close to their chest because when they do, the movie flops because it is incomprehensible, or a masterpiece that will be come to understood 5 years after the studio that made it goes under
i think minecraft is extremley difficult to adapt into horror because of it's lack of loss of progress, but mods that simply just take everything from you like the parasite mod just dont get what people are looking for
as times march onward media needs to take a few steps as to not fall behind, but honestly i think the reason horror feels so drab is because there is nothing scarrier what man can do
the main problem is that games, movies, books, and stories, dont like the idea that their protagonist can and should run away, instead of (and i am not saying scripted chase sequences if you though that for a milisecond ima need you to take 3 shots) they should focus on terrain that you can use to your advantage but not to completeley stop the threat.
the problem is literaly just that every monster needs to have a personal motive, for some reason we've become obsessed with the terminator "end all be all" walking tank that you cant escape or stop, it kinda wears you down because at that point you're not really watching horror because there is no stakes, so it just feels like snuff, and i just aint a fan.
like, if we wanted a good cave dweller, just small world border, one monster, you see it when you see it, it chases but can get bored, and its not just a photo warped stick figure with a random skin color. the problem with horror games is that they lazer in so hard on just "i gotta be scary" that they forget to manage tension and stakes, often creating expereinces that are mindnumbingly annoying rather than scary
sorry for writing an essay i'm high as balls eating pepper jack mac and cheese 😋
No problem lmao, really well written and you make great points. Yep the ‘end all be all’ thing shouldn’t be what you aim for in horror, you don’t need a world ending threat for something to be scary. I think focusing more on actual experiences with varying degrees of stakes and tension, rather than just linear progression, is far likelier to create a scary monster. Also yep, motivation is important, otherwise it just lacks depth, which sure, can work, but not if it’s overdone, and/or done for no particular reason.
As a little baby the video quality scared me like what did you do to get that look.
I feel like minecraft just isn't a good game for creature horror. Monsters are never scary, you can always get a good look at them, and most mod makers just don't know what they're doing.
I like the ps1 graphics a lot
What is this goofy aw shader LOL 😂!?
Good vid tho B) 👌
Edit: OMG thank you! Im pretty sure this is the only comment I've ever gotten a like on!
it’s like a ps1 shader LMAO a few other people were using it with the mod so i thought i’d try it out but it’s a bit too distracting, thanks by the way appreciate the support 🙌
Here is a 3rd like for you
@@tobyfogg5861 Appreciated 👍
have you tried
The Silence?
It's a WIP
but when it's done I think you can try it out.
I’ve heard of it but haven’t tried it out yet, I’d 100% be down to do a video on it though!!
your not wrong it is not scary lol.
other than that what do you use to animate your character?
i use mineimator right now, but i’ll probably switch between that and blender!
@@Waffle_ cool
Nice vid, Quick Question, what's the music at 1:54
'The Choice' from The Last of US OST, banger game and soundtrack :)
What's the top 5 best minecraft horror mods in your opinion
The Manbear and The obsessed are easily top of the ladder, the herobrine mod that Calvin uses is also spooky asf
agreed, manbear, from the fog, gargin's og (both before it was milked to death and after it got updated), gigeresque, and the obsessed

Do you mind sharing the ps1-ish shader ? I think it looks really dope!!

@@FlimsyStinky No worries!
Is your animation inspired by Godis- cuz thats really cool.
Absolutely. Godis? more like The GOAT-dis, am I right?
The new version called "WEEPING" is way better
holy fuck- the outro being so much louder than the rest of the video my volume was at max my ears man-
my badddd yeah had to replace the original song cuz copyright and unfortunately there was no volume slider 😭
@@Waffle_ maybe turn up base video volume? It was a bit quiet til' that point
@@CharliReef managed to find an option to adjust the outro, still not great cuz its gotta cover the original, but it should be updated whenever yt's finished processing it :D
you should try the knocker.
Thanks for the suggestion, definitely on my list!
what we need is psx shaders but with actual shaders so it has fancy lighting but psx graphics
agreed
What mod is the visual effect?
I think visuality
@@Waffle_ I mean the weird distortion, visuality adds more particle effects. Sorry I should have been more clear
@@Brick_Boi_ That’s all good! I think it’s the ps1 shader…? Other than that I’m still not too sure sorry
@@Waffle_ Thanks! I’ll check it out
Why everything looks so wierd?
ps1 shaders lol, planning to change them next time!
amazing editing dude. you honestly deserve more subscribers.. Im currently remaking scopophobia to be better then what it is now :) so if you ever play that have fun!!
also if you see this can you tell me what to improve? Im aiming to make it more paranormal/stalking. and making it rarer like the fear of the unknown when I remake it
thanks man appreciate it!! from what I’ve seen the remake looks sick, definitely on my list to play :D You could maybe experiment with subtle, random events that affect the player/their world, similar to an endermans ability to pick up blocks or herobrines mechanics in ‘from the fog’. That could slowly build up tension and paranoia. Sort of like a haunting thing maybe!
@@Waffle_ yeah. Im working on making him talk to the player randomly threw chat like ''Hello'' Or something like that :)
