Drinker's Chasers - House of the Dragon Season 2 Starts Strong

- Wow, who knew we could still get good TV shows? House of the Dragon Season 2 has proven to be a strong continuation of the story from Season 1. Let's hope this continues!
HotD has:
* a female-led cast,
* multiple non-binary actors,
* black actors cast in roles that weren’t black in the books,
and the same audience that hates the Acolyte, loves HotD. Almost as if its not about identity, its about ideology.
If you like watching slop, sure.
Absolutely but it has to be stated (again), that the Velaryon's colour is not defined in the books. At all. People assume they are white from a couple of fanfic art pictures.
@@CarlWheatley-wi2cl Page 646 fire and blood and many other pages quite clearly describe their colour. "Skin smooth and pale as winter snow". Don't get me wrong doesn't take me out of the show at all and I still love it but it does break the lore
I am not really aware of any non-binary characters tbh. There was the gay couple and that's about it, I think (They more or less fullfill the same role as the couple in Braveheart, Longshanks son and his servant)
Yo just stop
Don't let this distract you from the fact house of the dragon basically costs as much as Acolyte while looking far better with actual writing and more or less 2x the episode length.
and the Acolyte costs more than Dune part 2! 🤣🤣🤣
its CRAZY they both have the same budget. One show has given us 8 full-length, 1 hour (sometimes slightly more, but never less) and the other has a 23-30minutes runtime. One has dragons, the other has LED wall. It's insane.
I can 100% see how HotD would cost $180 Million, even more. You can see it dripping from every frame.
Smilo Ren's helmet looks like the got it at a garage sale...
House used it's money for actual dragons. No one know what The Acolyte did with its money.
The sets and set design, the amazing lighting, the incredible costumes and armour, impressive VFX. House of the Dragon is peak TV.
Who knew a show with diverse casting and 2 female leads is receiving heaps of praise from the very people accused of being multiple forms of “ists” because they mock shows like the Acolyte and Rings of Power.
It’s almost like the only thing that distinguishes the former from the latter is good writing and staying thematically faithful to the source material.
@@josefernandpz683I mean I wholeheartedly disagree. Making the velaryons black doesn’t really change anything, if anything it just makes the fact that rhaenyras kids are bastards even more obvious, which I prefer. You’re reaching man
@@josefernandpz683 All black characters in this are either from a slave background or a seafaring background, which is totally plausible. I'm not sure whether there are specific descriptions of some of these characters in the book that are contradicted. If so, that is of course unfortunate, but they have gone a long way in making it still make sense within the rules of that universe. Certainly, going letter by letter and being absolutely faithful is a value in an of itself, I recognize that, however I laud the showrunners for making any diversity changes in a respectful and skillful manner that does not detract in any way from the believability of the story.
@@givepaddytheemmy4535 yes it does, there are no black people in Westeros at this time in the history of Ice & Fire and why the fuck would any Valyrians be black, no one outside Sothyoros has set foot in the damn place because, like in real world pre-industrial revolution Africa, it's bleeting lethal; the Velaryons are supposed to be of Valyrian descent and look almost Dornish in complexion, let's face it: House Velaryon being black is only to score ESG points and nothing else.
It's not getting heaps of praise off book fans, for god sake westores is suddenly current day California, how can you not see this?? There is forced DEI in EVERY SCENE!
@@josefernandpz683thank you 👍 finally I'm seeing sensors in the comments section, I can't understand the hypocrisy.. they will rightfully criticise ring's of power yet house of DEI gets a pass?By the way who is the dei lord hanging out with the king? Nobody care to actually answer that question? What house is he because are we not supposed to see colour,if so then why create summer islanders
At this point, the true surprise and subversion is that Rhaenyra when her life was menaced did not get a sword and defeat both twins and save herself like a girl boss.
But the show messed up blood and cheese to make her look good.
The fact that you don't see the BLATANT feminism of the show is baffling.
@senister14 😂😂lol no. . . Blood and cheese is just a 3rd person narration of an event and that was not told by the one who witnessed it
@@randomhuman97 but all the people agreed on something like this happening, we even knew there was a 3rd child that the show cut because there's records of something bad happening.
@@edgardoMurnia The blatant feminism of two women leading an entire continent to the most bloody civil war its ever seen therefore proving a woman shouldn't rule is feminist to you?
The stark contrast between House of the Dragon & the Acolyte (or Rings of Power, She Hulk, the Witcher, etc, etc) is easy to understand...One is created by people who want to tell a good story & entertain the consumers, and the others are created by people who just want to preach their political ideology to the consumers. And its so easy to tell the difference.

@@brianwalsh1339a real Targaryen mother would have tried to fight them off!! 🗡️
I just hope that house of the Dragon has a final point where they kill each other
HOTD has multiple female leads, several non-binary actors, and a major House race swapped and not a single person is upset with it. Why? Because they didn't beat the audience over the head with any of these concepts. They stayed true to the world and true to the story and that's what matters.
Agree… The actors and actresses are pretty low key and they just focus on sharing the story, their experience on set and laugh together.
Non binary actors 😂 they are woman who change pronouns to be cool and edgy 🤦🏻♀️
Wait u til their season 3 and 4 contracts lol
May I ask who the non-binary actors other than Emma D'Arcy are? I can't seem to find that info. I agree with your overall point btw.

Cristin Cole actor is amazing he’s doing a great job making me hate his character. Haven’t felt like that since Ramsey.
the actor is getting a lot of abuse unfortunately, it’s a shame some stupid people can’t separate an actor from a character
@@hdheh1582 oh no, not this again. Fuck those people.
I love to hate his character lol
Dude is the perfect definition of "How to fail upwards"
I disliked Cole in Season 1 but I outright hate him in Season 2.
Part of it is the great performance. Part of it, I think, is also due to the fact that Cole's character is far too common. I've dealt with people like Cole, but can't really say I've dealt with someone like Ramsey.
Cole made a mistake not ensuring Helena had a sworn bodyguard. He pushed the blame onto his subordinate who had been doing the right thing, watching the drunken king while he was with company (far more at risk than the queen and her children in their bedchambers). Cole's method of righting with his own mistake is forcing an impossible task onto a subordinate. There are so many terrible managers like that, it is very real.
I look forward to Cole's demise in the show.
The drinker nailed the point. It's a solid performance with a good mature actor and script. An Mauler pointed out the maturity of the character. Disney doesn't want that mature seasoned wisdom. It's in their writing room, it's in their directors, it's in their actors. All are those impetuous children going off half cooked, trying to push the message and not developing a good story setting up the "why" audiences should even care.
It’s almost as if one show is intended for adults and the other is intended for children…
@@eyespy3001even a show intended for children can be amazing quality and with universal message.
Who knew that having a good script and likable character makes for a good enjoyable TV show
Edit: Okay an actual script not likable characters I was mainly talking about the media as a whole not just HOTD
my chock is immesurable
Yeah HOTD isn't that for me, it's boring and bland.
Which character is likeable?
They are all awful people.
Seriously⁉️Rhrenerea Is a Hoe and Aegon is a Dumbass, How are they likable?

@@ThaBeatConductor compelling seems a better word
As for the scene with the twins in House of Dragon, they were proper characters and there was a proper build up for the part. Their motivations were clear, they did not contradict their personalities and beliefs with nonsensical acts. Even though the outcome could have been guessed, it was heart breaking to see it unfold.
I'm thoroughly enjoying HOTD S2. I haven't read the books it's based on, so I can't judge it as an adaptation, but as an isolated product in a vacuum, it's stellar.
That scene with Daemon and Rhaenyra felt borderline Shakesperean.
Yeah, I always say that about GoT and HoD, and it's largely due to GRRM's brilliance as a storyteller: as close to Shakespearean tragedy that I've seen in any modern productions. As for the source material, given the weird way that the book is read, the differences between this adaptation and the books actually *enhances* the relationship between this and the book. Totally worth checking out as it's own thing, and the TV show does justice to the book, even though there are differences.
Daemon should have used The Faceless Men.
terrible adaptation but still great acting and visuals
Funny how Disney calls people Racist for hating Acolyte when House of rhe dragon is getting love.
The reason why HOTD gets a pass when it comes to DEI is because the show is good. Same goes for the Spider-Verse films. If it's good, it's not woke. If it's bad, the wokeness is the reason it's bad. Incel logic.
@@toshtao1 well, then put scripts first.
Incel is a female word, forgive your mama
@@toshtao1Stop making a total fool of yourself, HOTD is a good show because its used actors and writers based on TALENT not immutable characteristics , How can you argue liking a quality show like HOTD is incel logic ? I’m a mixed race female, Am I an Incel ? BTW just looking at Drinker I can tell he gets far more bedroom action than a Beta like you 😂😂😂😂
And when HOTD was premiered, anyone who is the book readers raged to see the Velaryons are Black with Horrible White Wigs. But when the show premiered, they praised it and even not care about the race of the Velaryons anymore. Even the chemistry between the actors of Rhaenys and Corlys are so good and natural, they're ultimate couple goals who support each others.
The argument scene in episode 2 was the best piece of theater and drama I have seen in a LONG time. Truly jaw dropping performance
The twin confusion in HOTD didn't drag, lasted only long enough for the plan to almost work. Good scene.
The argument between Rhaenyra and Daemon was a perfect example of great character writing. So rare to see a man and woman have a smart back and forth, with both sides making fair points and getting in jabs. Plus the danger of potentially provoking Daemon’s wrath. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, more so than any Disney action scene could achieve
Emma D'Arcy is nailing it. Rhaenyra always acts like Daemon might kill her for what she says, and he might
@@adamkares7549 He is convinced the crown should be his and the king can do whatever he wants to. Matt is doing a spectacular acting job.

Just goes to show that the audience is welcome to diverse casting and a female lead when the writing isn’t absolute garbage. Justify that Disney
I've been waiting for The Drinker on HotD! I'm loving it so far. Y'all don't understand how nostalgic I got season two episode one. I listened to the full intro, and I never do that. So good!

It’s been pointed out recently that the Acolyte was written like a Disney Teen Drama…maybe that’s what Disney thinks Star Wars is? Meanwhile, HOTD is giving masterclasses on set up and payoff.
I love Greg Owen, his videos are great!
@@kevinmccabe7263for sure
Star Wars was written for children. So it makes sense.
@@TheMysteryDriver I mean not really, Star Wars was written for families so it was meant to appeal to children AND adults. Not Disney Star Wars though.
@@TheMysteryDriver I’ve heard that argument before and it certainly holds water as GL began pivoting to things like Ewoks in Jedi and some of the lighthearted elements in the prequels. I would argue however that at the very least, they didn’t consider their audience to be straight up idiots as many of the ideas were taken from westerns and samurai films. The dialogue wasn’t exactly Shakespeare, but it wasn’t anywhere as bad as the dialogue in the Acolyte. They’re a few clicks above saying “the force is bussin yo, no cap”.
Matt Daemon Targaryen !!
THE GOAT
I hear a lot of people saying its slow but I rather it be slow than a fast pace storytelling wear I can't just digest what's happening and just wanting action. I want to know the characters even if the character is going to die the next scene.
Slow and steady wins the race with GOt’s and HotD. The pay offs are better that way because the what’s and the why’s e.g. why do I care? are answered up front.
I thought last season was a little slow but still good. This one I've liked much more so far. And yes, the character development they've done makes the stakes feel much higher than most shows.
I agree, not everything has to be fast and action packed. I understand the comments but personally I haven't found the pacing problematic at all. I'm engaged and interested throughout when watching. It's definitely slow in some places but it's still dense, we're getting so much character development, world building, etc.
I think people crave the action because there aren't many episodes in a season. So, to feel flat after it and then have a 2 year wait for the rest of it, I can feel the frustration
Interesting thing to think about: HOD is about horrors of civil war, all the bad stuff which happens when the wrong people are making decisions, about manipulating public opinion (especially ep2), love, sex and people opinion about it, and, of course, women's rights - with maybe bigger focus on the last then was needed and/or intended by the author. Not to mention, they're changed some parts of the story from being rumors to obvious reality to show this sideline about Leynor Velarion sexual orientation.
And what things from that list are not about the world we live in today? 🤔
But even though the show is heavily infiltrated by modern world situation, we still like it and even praising the show for this aspect!
So why we like HOD, but don't like Acolyte? Because they're showing the things they want to talk about instead of just giving you the answers, so you can think with your own head about things. Also, all the topics are natural parts of the story and the world, so if you don't want to think about reality you can just focus on the fictional world. At the same time Acolyte just throwing all the "correct" options about everything right in your face and you can't focus on the fictional world in this situation because the world is badly written, lacking details and logic, and lots of other stuff which is making fictional world alive....
This show reminds me a lot of Hatfields & McCoys, worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Hard to pin blame on anyone but both sides making mistakes and escalating the conflict more and more.
As much as I hated Season 8 of Game Of Thrones, I f-ing love House Of The Dragon!!! It's just so well written, acted, directed. Strong characters, male and female, different skin-tones. Not at the expense of others. It's just seemless and works perfectly within the framework of the worldbuilding. This is how you do it.

Yarp! They think because it says "inclusion," it can't exclude.
While HOTD isn't anywhere near as good as the beginning of GOT, it's certainly serviceable and hopefully doesn't go the way of the later GOT seasons.
The acting and dialogue in House of the dragon is levels above the acolyte it cant even be compared.
I'm guessing snarky didn't watch it. I can't imagine her not chiming in otherwise.

This is a clip from part of a larger show. She had plenty to say on the Acolyte. I assume they spoke prior to the the show, and knew she didn't have anything to contribute, thus the guys didn't ask her directly at any point and put her on the spot. These guys know what they are doing.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR HOTD S2
I’m actually floored by how well S2 is carrying the torch. I was on the edge of my seat during A(E)rryk-brawl which rarely happens for me during fight scenes. It had a similar effect that the fights in the OG Star Wars trilogy where they were very slow moving, not flashy and grand scale, but insanely emotionally charged. And it did not shy away from the GoT brutality. It was also good writing to have nobody be able to help because they didn’t know which brother was which so you just had to root for your side whether you’re Team Black or Team Green.
Other than that, I’m a little disappointed by the fan reaction to Blood and Cheese. I saw some people disappointed on how they didn’t show any gore during the scene and honestly it makes me a little sick. Like you wanted to show a toddler being decapitated in his crib while his mother cradles her remaining child, running to just escape with their lives? Idk I feel like it was plenty brutal. And I don’t mind the deviation from the book. I feel like they have enough going on already without making Maelor resents his mom plot line as well because they’ve already given Helaena a very interesting new look.
But at the end of it, so far HOTD2 has some phenomenal acting, amazing sets, and writing that puts the Acolyte to abysmal shame.
Take notes Disney.
I hoped that they would've made Helena choose, but other than that Blood and Cheese was fine. They had to find a workaround regarding child actor laws and brutality. Plus the crying, the cracking of bone and air leaving the lungs made my heart stop.
Does SnarkyJay not watch HoD? Not a single word.
@rogerw3818 She is just there to look good, nothing else to add.
You feel absolutely heart broken for Helena being dragged through this whole thing. I even felt for Aegon too, him in the cells was actually satisfying and relatable even for a character i dont like.
This aged like milk
I feel like the relationship between house of the dragon and game of thrones is a lot like the relationship between legend of Korra and Avatar the last Airbender. It's not as good, has some concerns, but in the end it's a worthy addition to the franchise.
Lol, your spoiler free chat didn't last long..😅
When Aegon says “Dad is gone” and Otto looks right into the camera and said “Yes, and we are all the poorer for it.”
The writers acknowledging that Paddy’s absence is felt so much is such a nice touch. Season 2 has been great but I miss Paddy.
This and The Expanse are perfect examples of how to have very “progressive***” themes but are written so well and the characters are so real it just works.
What progressive themes?
I don't know if I can enjoy house of the dragon if they keep playing favorites.
Im team Good TV. House of the Dragon is both well done and amazing in that it has resurrected a franchise that was stone dead and hated, which was deserved after the disaster of Season 8.
Disney meanwhile just can't understand how this is massively successful, and their gay victim power fantasy porn is not.
S2 seems to have learned from S1s mistakes, we could be on something special here.
One thing you can definitely say about Dragonstone and Kings Landing. There security definitely needs work. So many people are getting in, it’s almost like the US border
House of Dragon unfortunately due to such poor efforts from Disney and Amozons the Power of the Ring is being heavily overrated imo. It’s ok….thats it the original GOT was a much better show.
Writing!!!!! Something Hollywood has lost. HOTD has good writers. Disney refusers to employ any.
Beautiful analysis of season 2 HOD. What you are discussing is the bedrock of any epic show that hopes to have a modicum of success. HOD builds their characters, provides intrigue, allows you to love or despise a character because of the core of that character, not theatrics. Excellent discussion.
House of the Dragon season 1 was OK, but certain episodes were boring. To be honest, boring parts were way too long, i would give it 7/10, if not boring parts it would be 9/10.
After watching first season, it is quite clear that they are trying to make progressive show, but politics of this show is unintentionally conservative.
For example, if any character is trying to be sexually liberated, life gives this character hard bitch slap. It happens every time if any characters try to do something progressive.
I hope there is less long boring parts in season 2.
The power of negativity is so great that even when taking, praising a new TV shows inevitably comparisons swing towards a shitty show. Rarely does it get compared to another good show or one even better, I guess that’s rare.
I'm pretty sure this video was made pre-episode 5. The season went downhill from there: nothing interesting happened, the pacing was TERRIBLE, they basically recycled the same dialogues and/or themes over and over again, Daemon's Harrenhal arc felt like a poorly-executed and boring acid trip, it's getting harder and harder to root for Rhaenyra -considering how mediocre her political moves are-, etc. Not to mention, this whole "We gotta secure peace no matter what" that both Rhaenyra and Alicent have going on feels pretty out of place in a show that's allegedly depicting the most tragic and bloody civil conflict in the history of Westeros. Nah, this season SUCKED big time. It has a couple of highlights, but that's it.
PS: To be fair. the scenes involving riders claiming their respective dragons were kind of cool, but cool as in "I'm getting Marvel vibes from the way these were directed".
If we follow the books then season 3 should be packed with brutality and battle scenes.
The main concern I see is that a wait time of 2 years between seasons is going to put people off. It just seems way too long for only 8 episodes.
@@alluminiumminimalium700 Personally, I'm not as invested as I was during S1. I might not even watch S3. To be honest, if things keep going the wrong way, they're going to lose most of the audience.
would have loved to hear more of what Snarky Jay though of House Of the Dragon!
I love season 1 and I'm loving season 2 so far!
I don't think she's watched it.
I really like HOTD but im worried about the war that happens over the next century and a half that removes all the POCs from Westeros. Half joking.
The sea snake is a great character and his descendants are fine because theyre supposed to be foreign like the Targaryans, but the weird racial diversity that is present at this period of time in Westeros really doesnt make sense to me, and people praising the show for "inclusion" just seem to like every culture looking and acting the same without recognising how it undermines the world building when we suddenly have a whole new race of people (not the Valeryons, just common people) living in Westeros without comment.
In GOT the different peoples really seemed different. On Khaleesi's adventures we saw realistic depictions of completely different cultures rubbing up against one another and in HOTD we're kinda told, "these people were always intermixed and theyre all the same," even though we know that in a century and a half they're all gone.
So we know why theyve made these decisions and they arent based in lore (because that doesnt make any sense) but modern representation ideas which are totally toxic to both writing and viewing once it gets into one's mind.
Now, when they choose to focus on specific characters (as they are about to do in season 2) we know why (because people constantly bang on about it) and that has an effect. Even when I'm really enjoying watching, I'm pulled out of immersion for that split second and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Boring show, let's get critical, dude. It's time to be honest the story sucks. Its a hallowed out drag on show that is dressed up as game of thrones without any personality.
Have my complaints about the series seems like a lot filler and underwhelming scenes , daemon taking harrenhall was boring af. Rhanaera having a pointless conversation with Alicent when she should know alicent has no power, being like I want blood, then being like I don’t like war every other episode is annoying , this series is mainly about a war, it doesn’t need to be stretched 5 seasons but so much filler it seems that direction
My problem so far is a feeling of a lack of pacing and tension, even when several situations are definitely meant to be stressful, almost as if the people behind it are deliberately toning this aspect down, turning the show into a blander version of what it could/should be. I think this may have to do with the direction, the editing and also the quasi absence of musical effects during scenes especially meetings / dialogue scenes (remember for example GoT S3E10 the small council after the red wedding, when Jeoffrey violently criticizes Tywin and all the characters shut up, we hear a subtle sound rising in the background, illustrating the uncertainty and danger of the situation. We have so many examples like this in GoT and it definitely helps to give rhythm to the series and to convey emotions, while in HoTD the music is barely present outside of the transitions (and a lot with a piano which is a "soft" instrument, while in GoT we had a lot more string instruments rising tension)...it's definitely missing in HoTD and several times it took me out of the scene.
Also, I hope at some point the female characters, especially Rhaenyra, will show some flaws (outside adultery), like impatience or some inclination to violence, because until now, it's as if they were described as only rational, peaceful, altruistic, not interested in power except for the prophecy, always seeing the long term,... so that men are portrayed as power-hungry, seeing the short term (except Otto who is more a machiavel) stupid...
Glad someone else besides me noticed the lack of sound design. Really really drags the show down. Combine that with no interesting camera work and the viewer being in essentially the same setting the whole time, makes for a very boring show. No matter how well produced or scripted.
Its why the Ice Wall scene stood out so much. Felt like proper grandness. But then we were stuck in stone walls again.
@@ThaBeatConductor"sound design"'that's the good term indeed (english is not my mother tongue) the lack is more blatant compared to GoT where it was very developed and matching the situation and also the characters and locations
another thing I hope to see more is some drops of (dark) humor here and there, GoT had some hilarious moments in the middle of drama and war

House of the Dragon has been excellent to me. The acting, the visuals, and the story has been very good. Shame we won't get a Star Wars show on the same level anytime soon.
If Andor season 2 is as good as Season 1 and the creators dip out, it will be such a thorn in Disneys side that they had the talent to create great Star Wars shows but lost them cause they wouldn’t support them over the likes of Filoni
Andor season 2 is the only one that has a chance cause the Showrunner and writer knows what’s he’s doing
It seems like these channels just want something to whine about...
I love HotD and I hate the Acolyte.... The main reason I tune into the Drinker (aside from the fact that he's the only one that doesn't overuse the term "woke.") Is that he states when something is good.
These people seem to want to complain about star wars instead of talking about House of the Dragon!
Wow. It's almost as if they know that negative videos get more views that positive ones.
Season 2 is decent. The writers and show runners are wasting as many frames as they can rather than maximizing run times. I do agree it looks good, and the base story is really good, but I am watching The Sopranos for the first time right now and the thing that jumps out to me so far in Season 1....zero waste in setups and payoffs. At least compared to shows these days.
House of the Dragon doesn't begin to touch peak Game of Thrones, but it doesn't have to be to be a decent show. And in this media landscape, I'll take decent over the sludge that other studios are trying to guilt trip me into watching.
we will probably never see anything like season one through three of Game of Thrones ever again.
It was the best TV show ever made at that point.
I’d say hotd is on the level of the better parts of season 5 and 6 of GOT which is pretty good
@@idawg7332 Fully agree.
I would say peak HOTD does "begin" to touch GoT. But peak GoT is of course hard to live up to. Though maybe it's not even healthy to feel so beholden to meeting that expectation, because who knows how much of that goes into certain changes and quotas around "big epic battle scenes" and "dramatic close-up character shots" that are attempting to artificially induce similar hype moments without laying any of the groundwork. It may be best left to the organic growth and development of any given story and characters.
HOTD could go without a fault from this point and potentially still not reach peak GoT simply due to the nature of the story and character dynamics. One perfect story may not live up to another perfect story that simply happens to strike a chord with the audience or the zeitgeist, it may have a particular character journey or core message that is especially moving or relatable, or happens to be during the time of release.
Additionally, HOTD does bear the challenge of juggling all these very flawed characters, where both sides are essentially corrupt, or increasingly becoming it, not to mention the... particular family dynamics.
I don’t know about that, id say it’s on par at least. Its been pretty dang good
Poignant hearing the guy with the Irish accent (Despot) talking about "family against family".
Yall gotta get your heads out your asses. House of the dragon blows chunks.
Idk. Still hoping it gets better. Every episode so far ends with characters sneaking into high security areas and not getting caught immediately
ive very much disliked the first 2 episodes. compared to s1 its a let down.
Great writing, good acting, costumes, props, set design & some beautiful visuals. Wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I am, I'm an old school book fan that was still pretty pissed at how they handled things after season 4, only gave it a shot was because of Gary, Mauler & Shad but it's legit one of the best shows of the last 5 years. Never thought I'd be hyped up for an ASOIAF show again
Its the best story they could have followed up with and its a complete story fully written big budget fantastic actors sky is the limit
@@CalebMay-bf1ci I think Aegon's Conquest would've been a better choice. It's just as fully written as the Dance of The Dragons with better characters & overall it's more interesting imo, the Dance is mostly shitty people doing shitty things to each other & it all goes to hell, there aren't any "good guys" to really root for like there was in the Stark/Lannister feud. Seeing the lords & petty kings of Westeros having to deal with dragons for the first time, knowing about the reputation of Old Valyria but not having had much contact with them over the millennia (Dragonstone was only built as a trading outpost 200 years earlier) to the last of the Dragonlords invading & taking over would've been a better story imo
the SETS are so small, every scene playing in the one stupid castle or the other
The reason why it looks so good is because they actually spend their millions on massive sets, that they then add on to as they get more money year after year. Watching their behind the scenes show on how it’s made is wild
I remember when Babylon 5 was on the air and there was an interview with its creator, J Michael Straczynski. JMS pointed out that the declaration of war doesn't lead to immediate fighting. There's planning and logistics. There's politics.
There are a few good shows out there; I think I'll binge House of the Dragon. 🎉
An excellent idea.
A great example of good writing is a scene from The Gentlemen tv series where the Groundskeeper talks to his illegitimate daughter without him saying he is her father and without her saying she is his daughter. But the audience knows that they both know from acting and like a Taboo game of don’t explain. HOTD is the same
I've really enjoyed that show as well. I got another autograph from Giancarlo Esposito recently. Very cool guy!
15:05 I have not read the book, yet most likely they are just adapting the material... No, I don't think the writers are Otto, calling for restrain and patience.
The only thing I hate about House of the dragon is just the race swapping and the behind the scenes of the producer saying that "they did not want another lillywhite show" also I cant stand the two actresses who is very loud about her lesbian relationship and the other actress who wants to do this whole non-binary bull crap.
It really makes you not even want to enjoy or see the show that much.
Forgive me people I just can't stand identity politics
For real if the show kept to the lore all these progressives would be crying 😂
@@ErgRyarks actually no they would not.
@@attiepollard7847 yes they would.
@@attiepollard7847 rhaenyra has no right to the throne as a woman
@@ErgRyarks the only people who will be reacting to this show is no one. Even black people don't like the race swapping either
This didn't age very well.
Unpopular opinion but since hadn't occurred to me to rewatch in the off season, i forgot about it. Excepting Daemon and viserys, i didn't give the characters much of a second thought, unlike GOT, which I watched to death.
Funny how season 2 is trash but he directed all his energy to acolyte.
Hopefully HBO didn't write him a big check for him to ignore it.
Why can’t I find the full stream and only clips????
Clips are posted first. Then he posts the entire episode. Should be available within a couple of days.
@@dude1988 You can still watch the full show if you have the original link. It's just privated for the moment to give the clips a chance in the algorithm.
@@SleepyFenpost the link bro 😂
@@seeksolace2059 Don't have it, but I regularly save the stream to a private playlist while it's live to use it as a podcast while commuting on the following days. He's been privating live streams to upload clips before re-publicizing the stream like this for a while.
Loving this show for quite sometime now I have not had that feeling of can't wait for Sunday, and actually watch discussions and theories, and comparison to books, etc.
HOD episode 6 - The Message 😢
Review the season finale 😂😢
The end part of the vid makes it sound like Aegon wanted the throne and pushed for war. I thought he was reluctant to claim the throne and was willing to support Rhaeynera but Alicent convinced him to claim it, saying Rhaenyra would reward his loyalty with death to remove a potential rival. Haven't seen the show yet so i could be wrong, but are they changing the lore from the books?
It doesn’t matter what team you are on for in the end neither of them were meant to rule and every action that is taken will all ways be in the name of the Black Queen or Green King.
So in other words war is inevitable and the only thing I feel sorry for are the dragons themselves.
About Acolyte - I find Mae's secret is pretty clearly something along the lines of "squid game guy is the true master of Sith". How surprising. Otherwise there would be no way Jedi Council did not know about them in PM. Then again, it's Acolyte, so I might be wrong.
season 2 is brilliant almost on par with the later episodes of season 1 (plus don't worry there are some major battles and dragon fights coming this season)
Yo Drinker, just watched a movie called The Accountant, with Ben Affleck...Holy shit it was good! It's obviously an Autism Awareness thing, but this was done right. Hope you watch. Love your stuff. 🍻
How can you say that Drinker?!?!?
They turned this into one long Bold and the beautiful episode….it’s terrible
Team green all the way!!!!!
Drinker's going to have to edit these now. Apparently UA-cam is demonetizing any video that drops F bombs. I've read you should "bleep" it by just saying "UA-cam" every time.
Interesting fact i played a dead body on the beach in season 2 house of the dragon ...
@@ErgRyarks ye it was done in Anglesea.. awfull lying face down on a beach with tide coming in
Still a better actor than some of the female leads
Saw the first episode so far; absolutely fantastic acting.
Right after this ep. They fired the producer because he is a man??
And an update would be interesting.
Things have unfortunately declined.
Season 1 was great tho!!
I heard a lot good about this show and it seems it more resembles GoT seasons 1-4 then the rest but I will still not watch it until it is DONE with all its seasons.
I have no interest getting invested again only to be spit in the face in later seasons by "strong wahmeeen" and "token naggers". Sorry, Im an old racist/sexist and I like my movies and shows STRAIGHT up good until the very end!
I saw ozzymanreviews reviewed the whole season 1 of HoD and after that I had to go watch this show.. it was awesome
The last episode is has some really crappy female DEI content
Extremely annoying
They did so well but they had to ruin it as usual with vulgar Feminist lines and millennial jargon
F* this
Wait for the word "pout" for the most horrible DEI hire among all these great actors
Seeing sNARKY AJY ON THIS IS RANDOM
My favorite part of that scene with Otto Hightower comes from the context. He spent the better part of 20 years meticulously scheming, but within two weeks of his plans coming to fruition, he realizes "Ahh, shit, this was a mistake."
Guys, may I suggest you either do full spoiler discussion or talk spoiler free around 5-10 minutes or something and then change to spoilers. Listening you trying to talk around everything that happens is painful! I wanna hear you discuss with details :)
Started strong and end terribly. I wanted to like this season but I simply can’t watch an hour of people talking for 8 episodes without something happening. We got one battle which was very cool, but after that nothing happened. Last season ended implying this season was gonna be fire and blood. Well it turns out, it was more talking about the war and showing it once. It set up next season to be action packed and I really hope it will be. But I feel like this season was very boring overall and accomplished very little with the time it had.
I didn't bother with HOTD for ages and only recently got into it - OMG it took me right back to when GOT was good.
Well done all
HotD, as a show, has earned the right and honor of being treated seriously by the audience.
The Acolyte has not.
It's decent. Acting is really good, it looks good, and it's only dei adjacent. Comparing it to an Acolyte or RoP is like comparing a cat running on a piano to a person playing. There are issues I have with the story but that's not really the shows fault.
Same basic overall budget and Disney should be embarrassed by production quality alone. If we had to add in acting and story telling, there would be no chance the Disney execs should still have jobs.
Let's not sugarcoat this. Season 2 is pretty weak, Episode 2 was so far the only half decent one. 1 and 3 are complete bollocks.
Funny how when one is made with love and respect can do infinity better than the one thats made out of disdain and no respect. Its a night and day difference to say the least. HotD is excellent television with stellar acting, writing, costumes, set designs, characters, direction and cinematography.
Ugh damn, I thought the first two episodes are rather weak. Meh
There was a scene in House of the Dtagon when there were people crying because of things and i cant believe that i was starting to tear up. It was a well written scene and the acting was very good it delivered the scene very well. That show is good. Now the acolyte the only times i have seen it was during reviews. I will never watch that heaping hot garbage. The acolyte is just wet turd masking as a Star wars shiw
totally forgotten the ratcatcher story but awakened in the back of my mind but when it played out in real time
Literally the only characters I care about are the dragons. Except the big evil one.
I feel that season 2 is weak compared to season 1. Maybe because there was less world building in it.
just send that jumbo jet dragon to dragon stone and kill the queen that will be it, season is over. oh wait, we need the twist and turn plots....dumb
