- It's funny how relentlessly positive reviews are conveniently overlooked, while negativity towards any Star Wars project is immediately slammed as review bombing.

It's not review bombing.
It's the power of many...
Lol 😂
Ouch That's a good burn..
Well played. Well played indeed

Your comment just gave birth to a couple lesbians.
I think they confuse 'Review Bombing' with 'Reviewing a Bomb'
They don't confuse anything with anything, they willfully misconstrue everything and everyone to suit their whims.
Golf clap? Golf clap.
Well said. Very Well said.
That's goooood😂😂😂
I see what you did there.
What Disney fails to appreciate is that what they call "fans" and "toxic fans" are really CUSTOMERS. I am under no obligation to purchase a poorly made product. Shouting at me won't make me purchase a poorly made product.
Social justice warriors are diametrically opposed to meritocracy. How DARE you expect something to actually serve a purpose! You monster!
Excellent point.
Imagine Taco bell attacking its fans as anti mexican or some shit if they made a bad taco!
@@loetzcollector466 Fun fact: Taco Bell opened up a franchise in Mexico City. Twice! Both times they immediately went out of business. CLEARLY Mexicans are all anti-Mexican, lol!
Exactly. I've been saying this for some time. It's like none of those people ever held a real job. Hell, even most artists aren't so narcissistic as to think that yelling at people is going to make them like their art.
I still find it hysterical The Drinker “ruined” Star Wars. The Drinker’s audience is infinitesimally small compared to Disney. He _can’t_ ruin Disney. Well, unless he tells the truth and everyone sees it. But even The Drinker persuading people to his POV isn’t his work but Disney’s.
Is it even that much smaller nowadays?
I would be surprised if 1 out of 10 normies had even HEARD of Drinker. He is impactful in certain subcultures, perhaps, but not in the culture-at-large.
“Do not believe your lying eyes!” ~ Disney
His E3 video has 3.2M views, which is the absolute maximum number of people who _could_ have been but off, but only 200K likes which more likely represents those who _would_ have been put off - if any of them have been D+ subscribers to begin with. At this point, I'd assume that D+ and Drinker audiences are essentially orthogonal rather than oppositional: we were never going to watch Ashocalyte to begin with, we're only here to be entertained by the clowning.
I don't know. Red Letter Media rightfully eviscerated the PreQuels, and it was more entertaining than the PreQuel movies themselves.
Disney: a lot of negative reviews equal review bombing from trolls. A lot of positive reviews equals honest reviews from happy fans.
Go through the list of "positive critic reviews" on any DEIsney property, and count how many were fished from random blogs with 10 followers and names like:
"Blerd Girl RANTS"

It’s not like they have ever artificially inflated their positive reviews…. Right?

Rey using the Jedi mind trick with zero training in the first Disney movie is what broke the force for me. So it's been a pretty long time.
A spine is as powerful as a couple blast doors is what did it for me, LOL
There are force sensitives that are naturally gifted in different force powers. That's obviously not the case for Rey but it's not impossible
@@osets2117the issue isn't with the lore but the execution, if she was SO force sensitive, then she should have had Harry Potter-esque uncontrolled bursts of force use from a young age.
People gave Force Awakens too much credit. May not have been as big of a turd as its sequels but a turd is still a turd.
Kylo Ren:
-training since childhood with lightsabers
-training since childhood with the force
Rey:
-has had ZERO training with lightsabers
-has had ZERO training with the force
-beats a trained lightsaber user in a lightsaber fight
-beats a trained force user in a force-arm-wrestle for a lightsaber
Cut to: Daisy Ridley got asked if Rey is a "Mary Sue" and she scrunched her face with this badly hidden "im gonna pretend i dont know what that means" face

The biggest problem with the whole bigoted narrative is a show like "The Expanse". It has every earmark of a "woke" production, and yet it is highly regarded because it's sharp, beautifully constructed, amazingly acted and a solidly told story with so many widely varied characters. Why don't people hate that show? Oh, because it's actually good, nay, great.
You mean, if you write an excellent character and they just so happen to be black, or gay, or whatever, and you don't cram made up pronouns and genders in, no one cares?
Whodathunkit?
Wasn't a huge fan of the final season, but if you put out a good story, people will follow along even if the message isn't something they are 100% on board with.
Likewise with BSG, Farscape etc. all diverse casts and characters but the story, motivations, characterisations are what matters.
Sure, there was massive backlash with Sackhoff being cast as a gender swapped Starbuck (DVD special feature interviews literally have her saying "get over it" to haters) but she put those critics to bed.
@@dlewis9760Cara Gee, a minority actress playing a strong bisexual woman, and all the fans loved her. Imagine that!
@@dlewis9760I believe the final season was only made to wrap it up for the fans instead of ending it "mid-sentence".
I saw the original Star Wars in the theatre in the late 70s as a 4 year-old. It was the greatest thing any child in history could hope to see. Such magic was not just once in a lifetime, but many lifetimes. It was never going to be recreated, and those who had my experience know that. No matter what anyone tries, it is simply not possible.
It's essentially a rip-off of Kurosawa using a plot that's as old as time, or at least the Ancient Greeks.
Imagine the arrogance required to think you can reinvent the fundamentals of human storytelling 🤦🏻♂️
@@mrkeogh Yep, Joseph Campbell and all that, but done to perfection for kids with modern tech and good old fashioned hard work. Art from adversity. It was a perfect storm, lightning in a bottle.
I'm genuinely looking forward to the Rey movie.... the firings, the re-shoots, the bloated budget, the test screenings, the delays, its inevitable failure and fallout, everything but the actual film itself.
I'll pop the popcorn!!!...
I can't wait for the Drinker and gang making buckets of money out of reviewing, discussing and clowning on the next 'movie' 😂
I too am very excited to never watch the movie, but watch every yt video mocking it.
Same
It's not even pecimism at this point. This is exactly what will happen. It's a blueprint for disaster
I don't care what boxes the cast, writers, directors, and producers check.
I care that they suck at their jobs. It's just a bad show in a long line of bad shows.
Even if something rises to the level of Art, there is such a thing as bad art or just art that isn't for everyone. Disney gets burned with The Force Awakens for taking no risks. Then it gets roasted for The Last Jedi for letting an idiot run amok. Given they've made the Jedi look bad, the only way to rescue the Acolyte would be if they have Osha present a case for the existence of the Jedi. As is, Jord and the padawan dying attempting to do the right thing is noble (if Jord hadn't been painted as a tool). And then they'd need to have done the character work to make it land. Otherwise, the Jedi being crap doesn't seem like it's going to aid the upcoming Rey movie.
Was the acolyte innately a bad idea or was is it a good idea mishandled? If it was always an awful idea, then it needed to be caught and killed at the pitch, or when the thing was written. You don't hand someone 180 million and the future of your streaming platform and billion dollar IP and think 'I'm feeling lucky'.
I'm curious how many of them are actually qualified for their jobs. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the show would turn out this way if across the board people are getting hired to work on a $180 million dollar production without anything close to the proper qualifications. Experience matters, same as it does for any other line of work.
I love how often Disney Star Wars defenders will just basically say “God I love Star Wars, it’s always been terrible!”
except that is objectively true, what with the 'original' trilogy being an unoriginal spectacle of top tier practical effects & the prequels' attempt at proper worldbuilding overshadowed by the quality - or rather lack thereof - of dialogues and script pacing

As an aspiring writer it’s hilarious that people try to blame the audience for their bad content. If I want to make it big, I will have to make something people actually like.
well, you could always sell out to the machine, too. making it big doesnt require being popular or good when you get supported for political reasons by "the party"
Not according to modern Hollywood. So long as you're ticking the right boxes there's no level that you can't reach by failing upwards!
Reminds me of Eric July.
If it helps, you don't necessarily need to make something well-written to make that thing liked. Just look at how loved "Frozen" was despite the poor writing within. So if you are writing a book, you might need to hire a singer for the audio version.
My son actually just graduated with a degree in creative writing and we’ve talked about this very subject. The audience will tell you what they want, you can’t tell them what they should want.
There is no review bombing; The Acolyte is simply unwatchable. 💯🎉

About Ahsoka show: I will NEVER forgive Filloni for proving Cosmonaut Variety Hour right and completing Sabine's Mary Sueness by making her Force-sensitive.

Also bringing Hayden Christensen back, just to have Ashoka talk trash, “win the duel” and kick him in the head. They did my boy dirty.
She wasn't even a mary sue in the original series. She was skilled and mechanicaly/weapon minded b ut she wasn't.
fuck the 'incredible weapon' thing mauler mentions is not even accurate and shows ignorance. She invented a warcrime and ran away in shame afterwards.
@@taddad2641 She kinda was. She was a teenager and was a marksman, a demolitionist, a pilot, a mechanic,, a former space bandit, a Mandalorian heiress, and a skilled artist. That's quite a baggage for a what... 16 year-old?
@TheHalogen131 She wasn't any kind of accomplished pilot, though, Ezra outshone her every time he got in a cockpit, and she couldn't approach Hera's level. She was decent at hacking and slicing but again, not quite as good as Ezra, her marksmanship and explosives can be chalked up to her Mandalorian training and heritage and her bounty hunting "career" was VERY short and ended with her getting left for dead by her partner.
Like, being completely fair yes she was accomplished at a young age but in a way that made sense for her backstory and (most importantly) didn't outshine the other characters' skills and abilities. She had a slot in the team and she filled it, that was it.
The review bomb of one!
The review bomb of two!
The review bomb of maaaaaaaany!
Why is this not pinned?
You win, I won't bother trying to top that!
Apparently The Acolyte’s number are - less people watched it globally, than people watch Asohka domestically (US)
Damm. That's shocking, not unexpected as it deserves being crapped on, but still... that is pathetic 😂
That doesn't surprise me. I don't know who they aimed this franchise at. I'm British, and left leaning for a Brit, arguably the target audience of this show. When I first heard all the bad reviews I decided I'd go watch it for myself, make up my own mind. I'm only very casually into Star Wars but quite enjoyed The Mandalorian. I got all of about 30mins in before I gave up. The hammy lines and overly Matrix-esque fight didn't grab me. By the time we got to the young male Jedi telling the protagonist her own backstory, just straight up info dumping at us, I was done. The whole thing was so crude but given a pretty veneer to try and distract people. Like covering a turd with fondant icing and pretending it's a cupcake.
I'm not surprised to be honest
Ahsoka would have actually been a huge success if they hadn't gotten Thrawn SO WRONG. And it really amazes me considering the same VA from Rebels reprised his role.
@@ZenMonkeyGod To me it seems they cut out everything good about Rebels and threw it out, leaving behind empty husks of characters instead of the personalities they used to have. Sabine and Thrawn are the most effected of that. Sabine was the fire cracker, allways willing to show her emotions. Thrawn was actually menacing and not fat bastard who is coasting sheer luck.
You're right Drinker, this truly is more entertaining to watch.
Ray Stevenson was the best part about the Ashoka TV Show.
And even then only because of the head-canon that we built around his performance - it wasn't in the writing.

That box isn't even on the sheet. But there is an "atleast 50% of the story must revolve around non-white racial matters" -box.
The other thing I have noticed, especially from the Disney shills is that they say Star Wars is "in a galaxy, far, far away," but seem to forget the most important part which is "A long time ago..." It's funny how they seem to forget that, especially since The Acolyte is meant to be set a VERY long time ago in the Star Wars timeline. Modern themes like Pronouns just feel totally out of place and glaringly obvious in a franchise that's meant to be basically a fairy tale set in space a long time ago, like a fable or a myth almost.
I never thought about it that way, thanks. I remember that George Lucas had been influenced heavily by Joseph Campbell (and of course Flash Gordon) and I took it to be a way of saying, "Once Upon a Time."
Which I wish he could do a documentary on that TV show. The way the characters are written, even the villains are cool. I hope Disney could learn from that, they own the show. They also own Legend of the Seeker if I'm not mistaken. It was on ABC channel.
That was almost what bothered me the most. Pronouns in scifi fantasy medieval and such are just so ridiculous. They throw me totally out from the suspension of disbelief.
That is a misdirection by Lucas. Science fiction has always been a vehicle for the revelation of the future. That's why you get a lot of crazy degenerate stuff like sex with aliens, cannibalism and test tube babies born outside the womb. Luckily, there wasn't a whole lot of that in the original Star Wars.
What they’re saying is that in this Galaxy, pronouns are a thing of the ancient past that modern people found they no longer needed. There are lessons to be taken.
I mean… Anakin blew up the Death Star. I am surprised they dont say Star Wars plays in the future.
11:00 - "This show makes the Christmas Special look good". Agreed, and I've been saying that to my friends, who all reply, "Aw, it can't be THAT bad!"

I saw Greg Owen, another reviewer, float the idea that the writing is legit so juvenile in logic that it only appeals to pre-teens.
I was thinking that maybe if this show was actually meant for kids then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
Star Wars think their target audience is pre-teens... That's why they keep hiring crusty old feminists to make everything... Kids love jaded old people, right?
@@jasonscottjenkins It would be worse, because it is far more lunatic left propaganda than it is entertainment. Which is really the point.
Considering how low my standards were up to my mid-to-late teens, that sounds about right. Come to think of it, a lot of mediocre (Fallout comes to mind), or outright bad entertainment products have similar problems. Children (or people with a similar mental acuity) don't seem to notice the obvious issues with what they're watching.
"Appeals to only pre-teens", I disagree, I was about 10 when I discovered SW and if it had been this I would have never watched it. This is for activists and only. It's so off model, if you had any love for those 6 films (and KOTOR) there's no way you would praise this.

I rewatched Empire a little while ago and was shocked at how much I liked that movie. So much better than I remembered and I already loved it.
I would argue it’s the greatest movie made. People quote “I am your father” or “Luke I am your father” all the time. Even other tv shows and movies have been doing it since
In the future it will be known as the "Disney Defense." Any negative review is automatically deemed racist, angry and misogynist.
That's plain old liberal defense. "You disagree with me, so therefore you are rrrrrracist, angry, mysogynistic, homophobic.
I really miss when network channels (ABC, CBS & NBC) would cancel horrible TV series after 1-2 episodes, especially when ratings, aka their ad $$, tanked. Disney should have yanked Acolyte before it even released...better yet, before it ever got made.
I’m old enough to remember those days, too. TV was very limited, and therefore, competitive. Good TV. I like watching some of the old shows.
Churning out series is part of their Disney+ growth strategy. If they have longer plans, then cancelling one project might flow into cancelling two. Disney released 'The Marvels' after edits and probably reshoots rather than pull the plug. Why? Did they think the product was good? Was it necessary to have a higher profile project with Miss Marvel or do they have no idea what they're doing?
@@victorcates9330Disney+ needed content og that show Ms. Marvel found it Niche audience group

Stay sharp and watch out for those DEI-Fighters!
Despot started off with an example of Sabine going from a zero to force wielding master in a couple days but Rey did that first in TFA.
Rey went from thinking Luke was a myth to successfully using force mind trick within the same time period of the Sabine example. And she did it without an accomplished force user to teach her even a single thing about the force. Disney SW was dead with their first film.
Member when Luke was trash for 2 1/2 movies? I do. He had to make an actual journey, and train and get better. The old films spanned YEARS of time, and these idiots think "ahhh, a montage oughta do it." Friggin insulting.
Still makes me laugh that people try and claim Rey isn't a mary sue.
One of the best examples of it to me is the fact that despite growing up on a desert planet and admitting she's never left it before, she's somehow a MASTER SAILOR as well.
Make it make sense.
There was actually ways to untangle the mess TFA created: If the explanation for Rey gaining the ability to use The Force was because when Kylo did the mind-reading thing it accidentally went both ways, that when he was taking her memories some of his were going back into her. If the next movie started with Rey living out Kylo's memories via nightmares and it was interfering with her training with Luke that would have created a lot of opportunities for an interesting follow up to her sudden overpowered state.
It was also possible to untangle the mess of why Luke wasn't doing anything to help out in TFA, and why Han and Leia seemly had abandoned their son: That he warned both Han and Leia that they would die if they tried to bring their son back from the Dark Side, and that the one that could would reveal themselves to Luke.
Course none of that happened.
Yes, that's why I stopped watching Disney Star Wars. Rey was a master with zero training. That's "girl boss 101" in college.
@@rahn45 possible after TFA, yes. But good writing doesn’t pigeon hole your story into those predicaments to being with. And by writing it the way it was you could explain Rey but not without diminishing Luke. It took Luke a long time to get to the point where he “thought” he was ready to face Vader and he still got his butt kicked and lost a hand because of it. He was far more accomplished at the beginning of RotJ than at the end of ESB and still felt the need to return to Yoda for more training.
Face it, it’s terrible writing with little to no foresight or hindsight with respect to the original characters.

As a child, Return of the Jedi was my favorite because of the green lightsaber. Literally because colors. But I'm not a child anymore, pretty colors aren't enough to entertain me. And not out of fear of being seen as childish, the colors just don't do it for me, I need MORE now.
I'm a little jealous of the people who never grew out of the pretty-colors phase, even as I pity them for not being able to understand the clever character interactions in Empire Strikes Back.

@@osets2117 At least they used the colour to convey something about the character there. Headlamp - in her own words - just picked whatever looked prettiest on screen.
There are worse shows that get way less negative attention than the Acolyte … but I think the thing that really gets the fans is that Starwars has a massive fan base, a vast world to draw on and Disney goes out of its way to undermine the product. They don’t get decent writers or directors just people that tick boxes
Especially as Disney + is a world service and these types keep claiming they're doing this to appeal to world audiences. Yet are in such a concrete bubble they don't have a clue about the world, never mind outside Hollywood or other enclosed entertainment spaces filled with those who think the same i.e. Tennant's recent rant at whatever award show for gay rep he spouted off at a few days ago. That's because KK is purposely making Star Wars everything he hates. She's destroying it as a personal FU to Lucas, whom she knows is muzzeled. Why the hell the rest of Disney is going along with it is the real mystery.

Sabine Wren was a trained Mandalorian versed in basic Mando combat, an explosives expert, an expert marksman, a super talented engineer that no one could copy, a talented repair technician that is able to repair anything like ship engines and weapons, is able to defeat Clone Wars veteran Mandalorian soldiers like Gar Saxon in 1v1 combat, attended in the Imperial Academy, was a fantastic Tie fighter pilot, designed a super weapon (without any help) that baffles other Imperial/Rebel/Mandalorian Engineers, was a famous Bounty Hunter throughout the Galaxy and had other Bounty Hunters owe her favors, is able to wield a lightsaber without the force and fight Jedi 1v1, comes from a famous Mandalorian family (which is basically Royalty) and was a well known Galactic Artist because of her famous art......all before the age of 14 years old! And now she's a Jedi and Force sensitive. Even surviving getting stabbed by a Lightsaber. 😂
Starved her space-cat though.
Like... half of that is complete bullshit. She made one superweapon that the Empire DID reverse engineer, she wasn't shown to be able to repair anything and everything, her piloting skills were average (Ezra always outshone her), she was NEVER famous as a bounty hunter (the other bounty hunter who owed her a favor was the friend she escaped the Academy with who left her for dead later), Kanan wasn't TRYING to beat her in "Trials of the Darksaber" he was trying to help her work through her issues, you can see when he stops actively defending against her, and she was also NEVER famous for her art.
Come on now.
@@LadyElfTari - The Empire never reversed engineered her design. They TRIED repeatedly but still needed Sabine's help. But she sabotaged them and destroyed it. They could never build it properly because Imperial Engineers didn't fully understand how it worked. She's THAT talented.
The list is real. The only iffy part is the bounty hunter thing, but the rest is legit. Even getting stabbed by a lightsaber.
It's funny, at first, I started watching the Critical Drinker and other reviewers once I started losing interest in a series just to get a synopsis of how the show progressed and ended. Then when new shows came out I started skipping them entirely and just watched the Drinker et al reviewing the shows instead. That's how I experience most television/cinema these days.
I can’t get over how the Acolyte is trying to convince me in a galaxy with space travel and inter species relationships, that being a lesbian is frowned upon. No fucking way.
They said it best in this episode, “if the reviews of your shows are more entertaining than the show itself…you have a problem.” I will not lie. I find myself looking forward way more to Critical Drinkers reaction to the show than I do the actual show at this point.
That Vader clip of him doing the power of many and Luke jumping off is hilarious
There is an annoying trend that I can't exactly pinpoint when it started where a chunk of people would take to an IP so much that the moment valid criticisms pop up they regard that as "toxic" or "why can't you shut your brain off and enjoy it".
Cause I shouldn't have to pretend what I'm seeing isn't garbage just because you like it. I'm not criticizing you I'm criticizing the show. And maybe you're scared that if you engaged said brain and consider the problems you'll perhaps find yourself liking the show less.
Which can happen, that's not a bad thing. It means you're choosing to not accept a poorly made product/service and demand better quality before giving them your money. That is a good thing.
To me, the toxic fans aren't the ones who criticize the product, but the ones who attack other fans. If you're calling people racist and sexist because they don't like a product that you like, you're the toxic fan.
Staggering irony: Her parents thought they were so clever sticking an "L" in Amanda.
Her name is a word from some culture, apparently
Disney: *shoots themselves in the foot*
Disney: why would the fans do this?
Daily reminder that Leslye Headland got where she is by knowingly allowing evil to happen, helping it happen, then throwing the person she was helping under the bus for self gain. She knew everything that happened was happening and stood by and let it happen.
And no one in the media or HW says peep. Compare that to the current furore over that Dr Disrespect bloke (never watched him) texting a 17 year old 6 years ago with sponsors/cos now dropping him like flies and public treating him as the devil incarnate. I know some will say there's no comparison due to age but I'd beg to differ. Twitch apparently knew all about it, conversations were via their 18+ system so had to pay out his contract. They're both guilty or both innocent and they're both guilty so why is she handed an 180M streaming show in comparison? Yet they have the stones to call us bigoted istaphobes for disliking it? They KNOW they're hypocrites.
She is the Poster Face for " The Banality of Evil"....
Happy to see Snarky Jay here! Glad her channel blew up. She’s great.
No hot guys and no romance = no female viewers. They know this.
I loved Star Wars (an old bat) but romance wasn't necessary. You're right though. We all want strong male characters. They keep bleating 'why can you suspend disbelief for male characters to do x y z most can't do but won't for women'. Women always physically stronger is not even slightly believable. Neither is forcing any man on screen to be weaker, subservient to them and/or stupid. Compare the female padawan fights in Ep 5 of Acolyte to the male knight. He drops in 2 seconds after giving in to Osha at every turn yet padawan's equal to the Jedi Master who if the actor wasn't enticed from Korea for the role would've got the same treatment and still concedes to all the women.
Emphasizing two points:
"Remember when the stormtrooper bumped his head?"
Yes, and then George Lucas later ran with it by intentionally having Jango Fett bang his head on the door of the Slave I in Attack of the Clones as a nod to it.
It feels like they used most of the money to pay for the good reviews. There is no way that professional critics think that this is a good show. All the positive review from the audience read like: It’s not that bad, 5 stars. And the majority of negative reviews I saw consistently point out valid points like terrible dialogues and plot holes. There will be some reviews from people that dislike the diverse cast, LGBTQ+ representation or gendering but if you ignore them the rating are still overwhelmingly negative…
I remember someone once trying to compare Rey with Luke and that "neither faced significant challenges...".
I then reminded them that Luke saw his dead aunt and uncle...almost gets his arse beat in a cantina...is shown being shot by a laser training device...watches Obiwan die...almost gets drowned by a trash monster...gets ambushed by a snow monster and almost gets eaten...watched his co-pilot die in his speeder...crashes his X-wing...fails in training several times...then gets his butt kicked by Vader and his hand chopped off...
But yeah, basically the same as Rey immediately being good and gifted at everything.
Snarky Jay!! I'm glad to see her with the squad! So...is FNT next?
"We don't F with your Discourse" Fans write well thought out reviews criticizing the writing, story, plot, characters, the entire project in general. And they scream ist ist phobe ist phobe. That's not a discourse, you might want to look up what the meaning of that word is. Cause its definitely not where one side having intelligent conversation about a subject while the other side screams and loses their mind.
Im holding out for 1% audience score. And thats generous.
The trouble with streaming movies is that the studios don't get the same immediate feedback and punishment that movies got from ticket sales. Now the sludge can be hidden behind the good stuff on a streaming platform.
A little SnarkyJay makes everything better 😍❤🎉
It takes a special kind of _shite_ to motivate someone to go to the effort of leaving a review.
What Disney are pretending not to know is that for every negative review left online, there are another half-dozen people who started watching the show, gave up after a few episodes, and are so apathetic towards it THEY COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO TELL YOU IT'S SHITE.
The people leaving reviews are the last die-hard fans who still care about the Star Wars franchise, i.e. the only remaining loyal customers for this IP, and Disney has been dismissing their feedback for years now 🤷🏻♂️
Last night I watched STNG: The Inner Light (S5E25), the 32yr old episode where Picard receives the memories of having a family (and the flute) of a dying planet. This is brilliant writing, story telling and acting. Nothing in modern Star Wars compares to that quality of television ... and we should not be expected to accept their garbage.
I’m not bombing the review, I’m reviewing the bomb.
Snarky Jay is intelligent and gorgeous! My goodness. Let her be the representation of woman
Snarky collaborating with Drinker, Mauler and the rest is EVERYTHING to me.
Seriously when will they run out of money!?!? How much more shit can they spew before there's nothing left?
The only thing that can save Star Wars is indie creator passion... The passion for storytelling, for caring about lore, characters, look, details... Everything.
The passion that George Lucas inspired and nursed through so many years.
Someone would have to buy the SW IP on a shoestring budget and launch a new trilogy set in a different era of SW.
However, that is not even remotely possible.
Kathleen Kennedy is the definition of insanity and that is why Lucasfilm has been a cesspool since Disney bought it from Lucas.
To paraphrase Robot Head, the CAUSE is blaming the EFFECT.
Nice going, Disney. You've managed to alienate the fans, talk up and audience that doesn't exist, and break causality.
They won't put Star Wars in the ground, they'll just put it in a bacta tank... with flashbacks!
I've had an idea of how Star Wars could be fixed for a while now.
1. (Naturally) Fire KK and all those currently working on Star Wars outside of maybe the tech people. Every writer gone.
2. Make a public apology to the fans (and if possible, get some the actors to apologize too).
3. After the apology, announce that you're re-canonizing the EU and announce that the next movies will be: 1. An introduction film (or series) for Mara Jade 2. The Thrawn Trilogy, 3. The Yuuzhan Vong War, 4. The 2nd Galactic Civil War and Darth Caedus. 5. Finish off with Abeloth or possibly a Ben SKYWALKER series. 6. Solo movies from the EU interspersed throughout the years. Note: I would also make these animated so that we can have Han, Leia, and Luke in their primes. Animation also allows for fun visuals and is usually cheaper than CGI from what I've seen.
4. Announce a huge contest where Star Wars fans can submit their own stories and scripts to Star Wars. The top 10 will be made and the creator/writer will be brought in to help and given full credit. These scripts/stories can be for anything: a trilogy, solo movie, series, or even a fun skit.
This is what I would do, but naturally, Disney won't do this and so they'd better hope that Black Rock, DEI money keeps flowing as they lose more of their audience every day.
not gonna happen
and Carrie Fisher is gone, Harrison Ford wont come back and Mark Hamil likes antagonizing half the fans
@@ItsaKindOfMagic86 That's part of the reason I suggested animation. You can have Han, Luke and Leia without their old actors. All you need is someone who can do their voices.
@@BlackBrisingr4no that’d be too obvious and it’d be a mess. They need to make a 200-300 year jump and start fresh. New characters, new stories, new everything. No more going back to the old stuff.
They need a new conflict, new factions, new technology and a new family drama. the EU crap leans too much on the ot, when it doesn't directly contradict it. Leave that to the hardcore fans in the form of books and comics. Normies need a movie they can enjoy, not a lore test .
Make The Acolyte Season 2 happen, anything that will significantly accelerate the fall of the Mouse is welcome!
I wonder if Disney ever considered putting aside a few thousand dollars from their marketing budget to pay some firm in India to positively review their shows. So simple to do. So cost effective. Of course that would be dishonest and stuff. So they'd neeeeever do that.
Disney has the Skinner mentality
"GOOD GRAVEY, am I so out of touch with the children of today?......... *no* .........it's the *children* that are wrong"
I hate reading the defenders
“Real fans love everything Star Wars”
“It didn’t break canon, it is now Disney SW”
Etc etc
Disgusting how people just shilling for Disney.
"It's always been bad, lol" is the weirdest flex.
Now I need mauler to do a breakdown of all the symbolism and cinematography in Empire, because I always feel like I miss out on stuff in movies.
The people at Disney hate us. They prove it with each episode of each show. They actively despise the people who love Star Wars.
Disney's business model: Have people who dont like Starwars, make starwars movies for an audience that doesnt like Starwars.
The writer strike did not produce better writing.
"Everyone knew it was going to be bad" Yes, while that is true i think most of us hold onto that glimmer of hope that it will be good and something will come of it.
I think most people crave good entertainment and good Star Wars shows.
