Hey man you just do the bottom plug the drain and the top plug you use to fill with a funnel making sure everything's sprayed down with brake clean and clean of debris and use mobile one synthetic 15 40
Late to the party - don’t fill through the reservoir, fill the hydro through the top plug. There is a mesh screen on the bottom of the reservoir so way too much time to fill thru it. When full - rotate the tires, to and fro to get air out of the system. Also, remove the reservoir cup and clean the mesh screen on the bottom with soap and water(dawn). The cups are reverse threaded so clockwise to remove ccw to install (reservoir has a plastic hex ~3/4” to remove.)
@@creatingmind4910 It most certainly should get the job done. The 14 won’t handle it very well if you’re trying to cut down foot tall grass, but that’s not what walkers are for. The 14hp Subaru wasn’t my favorite power plant. Won’t lie to you there. They did make some Kohlers I really liked. The 18 ran a Briggs Vanguard. You’d need to change a few things to convert it. Wiring harness mods and crank pulley are the first to come to mind but certainly doable.
@@ozzfest78it’s certainly possible. They are completely rebuildable. As long as the case and fan are in good shape. If looking it over, take the belt off the blower and spin it. Listen for excessive bearing noise or any clearance issues. The fans and the housing can get bent or worn out. Look down the chute and inspect the fan itself. Make sure the fins aren’t worn out. I believe a 98 would have had the older style blower. A little more prone to clogging. The fan and shaft were all one piece so the replacement is a little more pricey.
Good luck w your test Brian... just took mine in Wisconsin and it was pretty tough man. I even read the 200 page book and took notes! Like you said can always re-take it.
You have the fill hole open... You pour the oil into the bolt hole, not through the oil cup. Also, if you're under 1,000 hours, don't touch them in any way! The warranty is important and if they are feeling funky before 1,000 hours take it to the dealer.
Great video Brian, Yes that weed and fertilization test is hard it took me twice to pass it, but other than that I make good money of weed control and fertilization I highly recommend that you shoot for that even if it takes you twice like it took me!
good luck on the spraying tests bud! I got my Commercial applicators license two years ago, and I think its a good add for guys like us doing mowing. Study study study!! Here in Texas, I had to take 3 tests. The general license was one, and then there was the two category tests 3A for landscape/ornamental and my category 5 which is vegetation management. Hollar at me/ text me or whatever, if ya have any questions. Of course there are a few helpful youtube channels on here also, and you know about them already. Jason C get your wheels turning during that last conference?? LOL.... Also, be prepared to spend some cash on the chemicals to get started. There was definitely an investment in chemicals at first.
Damn but watching this makes me want to change my hydro fluid. Maybe it will be smoother in turning etc. Have you had to replace any hydros on higher hour machines?
You may have talked about it but I'm wondering how often do you change the hydo oil I have a c19i that just hit 1000 hrs the oil resovore is still sealed
Wont the black make them hot as hell sitting in the sun all day? Was thinking about it yellow is probably the best colour since it reflects the sun and hides the dirt better then pure white.
Hey Brian, I have been Fertilizing for over 25 years. Main thing on the tests here in Nebraska is the labels and safety. Buy or get your hands on some manuals from your Dept of agriculture. Don't worry too much. My wife passed it on the second time. Any questions feel free to ask. Can direct you to some products and maybe even a simple program for ya.
www.walker.com/hubfs/assets/downloads/8000-11P.pdf Show me where it mentions the hydro's to change yearly. Gear boxes yes, hydro's no. You can add not change. If I have this wrong I am sorry but I don't see it in the manual. You want to send hundreds foul that oil.
@@robertpendzick9250 I'm not sure what experience you have but I've been doing this 21+ years and I'll tell you first hand as will any dealer I've ever been to. If you don't change your hydros yearly or every 500 hrs whichever comes first, you greatly increase blowing them. At 700+ a side, no thanks. I'll do the quick change. You went on every comment in this video talking crap. I'd call that trolling. Anyone with any experience knows they need to be serviced.
Simply put I could not find in the pdf manuals online from Walker nor from Eaton anything about yearly servicing the Hydro's. I do know that if you contaminate the oil in your hydro it will fail and opening this sealed unit voids any warrantee. As to commenting to others they should know prior to opening them how careful they need to be in the replacement of this fluid. Don't you think that was worth the warning directed to them? Walker's are great units and I do have experience matching yours....
@@CountrysideStrong mine o Lynn a year old and just got 100 hours the meter tell me to change the oil grease it so I think it will tell to change the hydro oil but I all check the book to make sure
All the old Walker manuals recommended mobile 1, 15w50. Now they all say mobile 1, 20w50. Any brand will work, it's all the same just make sure the viscosity is right.
Adding is ok, but I don't see Changing the oil in hydro's www.walker.com/hubfs/assets/downloads/8000-11P.pdf (they all use about the same hydro transmission eaton 7 or 8) Yes you will change lube in the gear boxes. But CHECK with Walker first.
Walker does NOT recommend that other then checking for fluid levels the hydraulic transmissions should not be opened, drained or messed with outside of their trained techs working on them. This is because of the extreme cleanliness needed in the oil to maintain proper function. You are correct the screens are extremely fine, because any (ANY) dirt in the oil will wear out the insides faster then you can sharpen a pencil. I could not find in the literature from Walker or Eaton (mfg. of the transmission) the service intervals. The check plugs are not to be opened just loosened. The lowering of the oil levels in the cups shows a leakage on the shaft (Had you noticed that in the 1st year it was under warrantee, UNTIL you opened the system up.) Hope you do not run into problems....
I had one hydro that seemed to be lagging a bit last year. I drove the mower around today and it seemed better to me. Not sure if what I did fixed anything though. We will see what happens when I drive it on a daily basis.
www.walker.com/hubfs/assets/downloads/8000-11P.pdf I have no interest in 'trolling' but look on these pages and tell me where the hydro's are mentioned for yearly service. This is different from the gear boxes. You can check the levels, add to the levels but nothing says change the oil.
@@robertpendzick9250 I don't need to. I have the manuals that came with all of my walkers. I'm very well aware of what they say and I'm also a mechanic. I would def say you're a troll.
Ok but for the rest of you, read the manual, better yet contact Walker. No matter which is the correct way, make sure that EVERYTHING near the opening, or coming into contact with the oil is SPOTLESS. Dirt is the ruination of these Hydro's.
If you’re not getting oil on the concrete, are you even a real lawn guy? Just saying! 😂 Not sure I like how the Walker is designed. I’m only familiar with Toro and Exmark and they have a reservoir. It’s really no different than a regular oil change. 🤷🏻♂️
