The 1st gear on the Panda 4x4 is a granny gear for off road use. They basically changed the gear ratio of the 5 speed box since there is no transfer case with low range. For on street driving you use 2nd through 5th. It basically is a 4 speed transmission plus low granny gear. This was similar to what VW did.with the Vanagon T3 Syncro which had a 4x4 system that came from the same company.
This type Panda 141 is so brilliant! And so varied: from 2-cylinder (only in Europe) to 4-cylinder, front-wheel-drive to 4x4. Styled by Giugiaro! Fun fact: all the glass is flat.
The 1.1 Fire engine is really smooth, even in its mono fuel injector version. Carb one was great, dont feel afraid of using 2nd gear for starting from a stand still.
In the UK we have the mk2 panda as a 4x4 and the 100hp models both are a hoot to drive they also have city steering which is super light..the 4x4 is a proper off roader and the 100hp is a pocket rocket 🚀
They are very close relatives, the Yugo is based on the same vehicle as the Pandolino, and the concept is the same to be a super cheap and simple vehicle. But Pandolino has much more charm… 🇮🇹🚗💨💨💨🇮🇹
I rode in a Panda in 1992 from Berlin to Munich (5 hours or so) and it lost 1st and 2nd gears. Starting in 3rd was very interesting. Not high quality, but that one looks amazing, and 4x4? Very cool!
FIAT Panda 4WD’s are very tough and reliable vehicles. In Albania, we rank them right up there with Citroën Méhari 4WD’s, Citroën 2CV Saharas, and Mercedes-Benz Geländewagens in terms of off-road mountain driving.
4mm toe out sounds a lot. Along with the short wheelbase that probably accounts for the fidgety handling. F1 cars have a lot of toe out to sharpen up the turn in. Mercedes tried to fix that by having a steering setting that changed the toe to nil on the straights but it was banned. What do you use for alignment. Something better than string I hope!
Fiat made these cars back when they used to make cheap and crappy yet dependable and tennacious lil cars, meant to be worked on by their owners, using a toolbox comprising of an adjustable wrench, screw driver, and a hammer ( wrench and screw driver optional). 4mm toe out is probably to account for the steering rack and tie rod slack that will happen even if everything is new xD The 80's and 90's were the golden era of cars, and joyous lil rides like these are the definite proof of that.
Enjoy your channel, especially Stella, but please don’t donate that box to Goodwill or any charity, it will just be put in the dumpster if it has dog hair in it. We have to throw away tons of clothes like that.
Even the regular non-4x4 Panda had excellent clearance and could easily face some occasional light offroading

Excellent content indeed! And always upbeat and positive! Thanks!
Thank you, yes, right on.

All the side windows are interchangable left to right, even the logos on the glass face outward on one side and inward on the other 😂
Great to see the Panda back
Enjoyed this, what a terrific wee car, I can't believe how great the condition is. Hope we get to see it in the snow soon.
Unstoppable 4x4 the good old Panda
I love all the Fiat Pandas, every generation!

Deus das estradas internacionais !
The Panda 4x4 fears nothing
De-icing salt is their Krytonite. Although made in Austria at Steyr-Daimler-Puch, today Magna, it's still a FIAT design, which means a rust magnet.
Love your channel! You are an excellent at what you do! 😊 keep up the good content
Reminds me of my 1991 Yugo (it was a snow warrior).

Flat windscreen. One wiper works fine.
The flat windscreen also keeps the sun out. In today's cars the sun fries your testicles.
I would recheck the alignment as it seemed to wander on video. Maybe whoever did the struts didn't set them right ?
Could be play in the steering rack and wibblywobbly raised springs compared to the original.

🎵Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow🎵When a dog curls up like that, you need to put a blanket it. 😘
Hi from roseburg it’s getting colder here too
Hello there!
Un bellissimo Pandolino.
Penso che ne abbiano prodotti qualche milione, ma sono ancora rari in Nord America

0:44 Subaru 360 cooling fan? 7:33 We called those "Floods" in 1973.
Cool toy.
Fer sure Stella thinks you're the best in the world! Long live technically small automobiles!
You're not driving the panda right. Fiat's love revs, boot it 😁
😁
Small but fierce.
If he ever wants to sell I’ll take it off his hands! I’m local to you. How cool would that thing be up the pass!
❤

Ok, thank you. Good to know. She loves her box.
looks like a yugo
Fiat 127 cousins …
Letting your dog sleep on clothes destined for good will isn't very nice.
Russian Lada Nivas are way more capable in terms of 4×4 off-road. Both 2 door and long wheelbase 5 door.
