I relate to this SO MUCH. Realizing now that I'm jobless how much I calculated my value based on how busy and overworked I was and saw it as necessary instead of something to be improved. Weird cycle of hating something but also loving how important and needed it makes you feel while you're miserable. Led to so much stress and a vacuum of creativity and joy. Good on you for being able to say no, many people can't say no when success and money and adulation is a possibility. I think you're great on camera by the way, and very easy to listen to. First time seeing your channel.

As someone who ran a UA-cam scriptwriting agency for over 12 months before dissolving it, I can't stress how important this video is for others within the industry. It's very easy as a freelancer to fall into the trap of thinking you need to start an agency to earn more money than you we actually need to be happy. Also super important to note, which you discussed in this video, that a lot of what these gurus online talk about is revenue. Which is not the same as income, nor is it the same as profit. The reality is that the vast majority of agency owners aren't earning more, or even as much, as solo freelancers who optimize their systems and provide a ton of value once you factor everything in. Great video as always George!

As an agency owner, I can relate TOO WELL. To the point I was hoping SOMEONE would do a video like this because I'm too embarrassed and scared about my reputation to do it myself. Especially having in mind how vocal I've been about my story and how starting a business literally saved my life 8 years ago (I had severe clinical depression). This is true, yet things change, people change, and I don't want that business anymore.
    Your words are liberating, George!

Ramit Sethi brought an author up on his podcast years ago and he said the author said something like how when we make things our identity it becomes harder to change our minds. Your story has been your identity it sounds, like then became a part of your brand. Now when it's time to change something you feel shame because you are mistaking growth for failure. Also personally I have always been a proponent of quitting lol. Ive quit bad jobs. Ive changed my habits that once served me that no longer do. Ive had friends brag about not being a quitter yet these are the same people who admit that they stay in relationships and jobs that are at best low quality and at worse abusive and awful. Lastly I have wise words for you from a wise woman ... I'm excited to see what the next chapter of your life will bring!

But I learnt a lot from you about UA-cam script writing from the jay klaus video that I completely reworked my thinking about writing. You need to keep making videos. UA-cam algorithm treats you as the leading person in the world in this niche . This is a privilege that you have earned . Drop agency . But keep making videos and teaching the audience . You will make an impact and you may later choose to come back bigger . Greetings

      @@GeorgeBlackmanYT Thank you George…
My hope is that my area of expertise can help people beyond the local geographical community of my practice, not to monetise it.
I also watched another vid of you (with Gillian Perkins) and really resonated with your description of a type of UA-camr who:
“Has a view cap due to being in a niche and if they get 20k views, at a 10% conversion to paying customer, then that would equal a solid business.”
I’m an absolute, utter beginner at UA-cam / social media. The service I deliver (as told by others) is unique and valuable. It does (objectively) deliver helpful results for people’s health via increasing their nervous system’s capacity to integrate life stress. I’m just crap (analysis paralysis + + etc) at “putting it out there”.
It weighs heavily that people, who might otherwise benefit from what I offer, are missing out. …Hence the dreaded challenge of diving into youtube videos, and happening upon you while researching.
Sorry for long reply. I’ll check out your course offerings, and may take you up on the email.
      Thanks again.
P.S. (…and an unsolicited advice warning)
My sense from this video of you is that, whatever you do with your talents moving forward, it will turn out great.
In your other vids talking about script writing you constantly emphasise the importance of the “structure” aspect of videos. There’s a shift in your demeanour/energy/body language when talking about “structure”… Indicating Structure is probably really important for your life. Perhaps consider the “structure” of your next endeavours such that they best support you in bringing your genius to the world. …Without feeling overly obliged to justify that to others.
      Best wishes.

You dropped a lot of value on them. Thanks.
I need your professional guidance with a problem I have with regards to scriptwriter.

It's hard getting job for this new style I want to transition as I have no experience in it.

And that is going to hurt.
But it is going to help you in the long run.
So if you don't like getting "hurt", you should stop reading this right now.
    Here it is:
Don't accept things as it is! Work on yourself!
If you can't handle five employees and a few clients for less than three months, you're too weak right now.
    You're such a young man...
Until you reach financial freedom, be strong and do what has to be done, not what you love.
If you fail to do that, you'll regret it later on.
And certainly will remember my text.
    Cheers!

@@GeorgeBlackmanYT I told you it was going to hurt...
First I want to clarify that I wrote to help.
But the point is: If you can't handle five employees and a few clients for less than three months, you're too weak right now.
To have 2,3,4 sources of income is always handy in the long run.
I have been your client twice now and wanting more...

Dude it sounds like you made the classic startup mistake of scaling too fast. Demand doesn’t validate your business model.
You’re better off scaling slowly. Get 1 employee and 1-2 concurrent clients and figure out all your processes. You won’t make a zillion dollars right away but you also won’t get chronically stressed

Not everyone need to make crazy amounts of money. We should ask ourselves what is the purpose behind. If there is some big purpose then that will propel you through hard times. @paudual misunderstood your video , i think it is more about do you really need to do what you’re doing?Should you be happy with what you have or you still need more? Questions you need to ask yourself. Each one to their own.
