There are many singers with a low voice but there are a few who have such volume in their voices which can fill a whole concert hall!!!

deep voices actually tend to be bigger than their lighter voiced peers. The problem is that most of them....aren't real basses/contraltos, but baritones/mezzos (or even tenors/soprani) singing music too low for them.

I recommend getting acquainted with the voice of the Polish bass, Bernard Ładysz. He is considered the best bass in the history of the opera, not just his generation. As the only singer from communist Poland, he sang with Maria Callas. During the opera recordings (with Maria Callas), sound directors had to move the microphone away from Bernard Ładysz, because the volume of the voice was huge. Greetings

Its ironic that the best singers of this show tune are all white. Hines is great here. My favorite version is George London's. And we mustn't forget Sam Ramey.
All are vastly more solid than Warfield or Robeson.
