Arlene is always impeccably dressed. It's incredible. Everything she wears is cut and tailored perfectly for her figure, which is also flawless, and the attention to detail, everything from the neckline to the bias, the hem, everything, and I don't know how she drapes a stole over one shoulder and it stays there like it's glued. She's perfection personified.

I came here straight from watching Jack Lemmon’s appearance on the show in 1957, and it’s noticeable that his reception from the audience was much more enthusiastic and vociferous here just three years later. He had obviously become a much bigger and more popular star during that time.

I fell in love with Jack Lemmon when I first saw him in the film "Some like it Hot" some years ago (not when it came out, I wasn't born yet!) I've been a MM fan since I was a teen so of course I saw that movie and JL stole my heart and threw away the key. After that I've seen many of his pictures. He will always be my ever favorite comedy male actor. My favorite character he played is "Daffney" SLH. I am a female upright bass/string bass player (or as Daffney called it "bull fiddle") so that character will always be so dear to my heart!

I knew him by reputation and correspondence. I was also a succulent and cacti at that time--grew 2000 species myself. It is may be interesting to some that cacti are endemic to the western hemisphere. Those that occur in the East have been introduced--except for one specie of Rhipsalis that was found in an African jungle, possibly evolved separately there from a seed traveling from the west via a bird. then mutating into a species different from any of ours, or perhaps our original died out or changed. My later experiences with British growers of Alpine flora, another hobby of mine, proved to me that the British can grow absolutely anything they put a mind to doing, whether their climate is conducive to it or not.

Lieutenant-General Sir Oliver William Hargreaves Leese, 3rd Baronet, KCB, CBE, DSO (1894 - 1978) was one of handful of generals that appeared on WML. The man who eventually became the first black general showed up on WML on one of Fred Allen's first appearances. ["Mr. James, is this your first appearance on the show. This is my first appearance on the show. You could save us a lot of bother by telling me what you do."] And the first woman general, General Elizabeth Hoisington, appeared on WML within a few days of her promotion by Richard Nixon.

She was an accomplished, generous professional who appreciated the fine work of others, to the point where she often mentioned the newest work of the MG when Daly failed to do so. That having been the point of their agent booking them. So when someone like one of the half dozen finest light comic actors (not to detract from his other talents) on the planet visited the program, she was likely to be tickled to meet someone who's work she so admired.

Dorothy K.: "Do you have anything to do with money?" John Daly No. 2: "No." I'm sorry, but if you're an income tax examiner, you have everything to do with money, because you audit or/and examine tax returns, which are all about money. I mean, honestly, what is an income tax return for if not to report how much money a person or business has earned and how much money they owe in taxes? Mr. Daly 2 may not "see" any money or handle anyone's money, but his job is all about money, IMHO.

Robert collins Back in the late seventies I had the chance to sing in the chorus of a performance of Gounod's "Faust" in which he played the role of Mephistopheles. He was a superb singer and actor, he towered over everyone (including me, and I'm 6'4"), and he was one of the friendliest opera singers I've ever met.

So I tried to find the 32nd Academy Awards on UA-cam, because I wanted to hear Bob Hope's joke about Jack Lemmon, and I was able to find the first 18 minutes. ua-cam.com/video/QvbC8tQvTF0/v-deo.html While I was watching, I was shocked to find that at the 1:20 and 3:48 mark, sitting in the audience appears to be none other than our Arlene Francis! Maybe I'm wrong, you can't see the heart necklace if she was wearing it, but if it's not her it's the best look alike of her I've ever seen.

I'm a little baffled by Bennett saying the strike was resolved, at about 19:15, because the SAG strike wasn't, at least not until April 18th, and the WGA strike (which dealt with health care, but also with what writers would get from TV showings of movies) wasn't settled til the summer. I suspect he meant the SAG strike and it just took a bit to get signed.

It was bad behaviour for two panel members to pass to the remaining two, who luckily made more effort. Those two (Arlene and Bennet) also stepped in when John Daly was trying to fill in time with Jack Lemmon after he had been identified and perhaps there wasn't time for a final challenger or perhaps there was nobody else waiting to come on. I think they sensed what was happening and took the stress off Mr D without making it obvious.

Since the product is not singular (i.e., coming in different varieties as opposed to a single - or else the variety should have been specified, like a Joshua Tree), then should Mr. Daly have said he raises CACTI? That sort of minutiae is his bread and butter.
Indeed, I attended an experimental school in lower Bajs where a one-day class was in desert lore, and I was shown a cactus that could provide life-saving moisture. Additionally, another time I enjoyed the fruit of the pitaya cactus, which we know as dragon fruit. Watch out, though - the spines are nasty sharp!
Oh, and you should know, the Hines family is quite prolific as it comes in 57 varieties!
Lastly (I'm not through yet!), when the mystery guest is introduced, the gender could obviously go either way. It could be Mr. E. Or it could be Miss Tree!

I thought at first that they were, but I've seen Dorothy more than once look down at notes on her desk to check out the name of a movie / book / play of the person she is introducing and Arlene, on one occasion, couldn't remember Tony Randall's last name. I'm not saying you are incorrect. I just suspect that the intros were done without cards (although probably formulated and rehearsed backstage).
