Thank you so much for taking us along on your RV tour of mainland Portugal. It was fun and interesting. It is a lot of work to script, shoot, edit, post and analyze the videos. And to do it all while on the road to boot! I'm glad you guys decided to move past that and I look forward to whatever you guys plan for us next! Especially, for us, Madeira! Fica bem Doug & Monique!
Hello Chris! Thank you so much for watching, your kind comment and following along. We had a great time despite the rain and love Portugal even more. Cheers! M&D
Wow, I definitely would NOT have taken to the rain as coolly as you did. I would have been rolled in a ball questioning my life, before flying back home 😂 But you guys still got out and did everything! You are such an inspiration
Hello Jess! Lol! You made us laugh out loud! Well as you know returning home was not an option so…. We made the best of it! Thanks for watching and following along! Cheers! M&D
Such a pleasure to watch y'all pave the way, bravely weathering the storm, and smiling through it all... you both are inspiring us, to return back to the island of perpetual spring... hopefully for forever next time...
Hello friends! So excited to return to our beautiful island. We’ve had a amazing time but we miss Leo , our friends and our home. See you soon! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Hello! Thank you for watching and for your kind comment. We have had a wonderful time exploring Portugal. We are excited to return to our beautiful island! We appreciate you following along. Cheers! M&D
I'm so sorry that you didn't have better weather to enjoy Porto and Lisbon because we so loved just walking around both cities, along with Matosinhos. We took the metro there for the Pinhais cannery tour and didn't realize how nice the rest of Matosinhos was until we spent the rest of the day on just random exploration. I am not good with heights, so I absolutely cannot imagine walking across the top of Ponte Luis I in that wind. It was bad enough walking across in good weather with no wind! Wow...is it €8 each to enter Livraria Lello? If so that's a steep increase from just €5 per person in October 2022.
Hello Stephen! Yes 8 € now. We are fortunate to have spent time previously in Lisbon so the rain didn’t really get too much in the way of sightseeing. Porto is for sure somewhere to return when it’s beautiful weather. It’s on the list!! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Cheers! M&D
What an adventure! Madeira misses you, too! Have fun on your last few days and we hope to see you soon! Enjoy cuddles with Leo - I’m sure he’ll be so pleased to have you home!
Hello guys! Yes we are excited to hug our boy!! We are enjoying every moment of the beautiful Algarve. See you soon! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Yep, you don’t control the weather when travelling. Happened to me years ago also when i let go an already paid ferry to Scotland due to the weather forecast. But nothing which keeps you from retrying in the future. You have one of the greatest luxuries in life : nothing must be done, everything can be done (well, almost everything). Up to the next adventure!
We did a 'sampler plate' whirlwind tour of Portugal in April-May (including Madeira), and I love that you've been to so many of the places we visited. We could see ourselves happily living in midst of the places we went to. Sorry that wild storm system hit while you were traveling. How disappointing! Looking forward to your thoughts after you've been back home and reflecting on this trip.
Hello Miranda! Thanks for watching and sharing your story. We loved the mainland and we feel like we can think of all these places in our minds clearly now. It’s been great- despite the rain 🌧️! We appreciate you following along. Cheers! M&D
I just wanted to say I’ve been watching you guys since the beginning and I love it. Thank you guys for putting all this videos it makes it even easier for me and family to move forward with coming to Portugal. Our plan is still to move there by 2025 so I hope we see each other there for coffee. Thank you again and enjoy guys and be safe
Hello! We are so glad that you find some value in our content. Thank you for watching our videos and for your kind words. Best of luck to you as you plan your move. Take care. Cheers! M&D
Thank you so much. You are two beautiful people and make amazing videos. I feel like you are part of my family. I followed you in Madeira but I have been a bit lax lately and need to get back to some of your RV videos of that beautiful county of Portugal. Portugal has been on top of my list of countries to visit. I especially want to go see the surfers in Navarre this winter. Keep up your terrific work on showing us how to live the second half of our lives. Take care and keep presenting your beautiful life of travel. Tim. ❤
Hello Tim, Thank you so much for watching and sticking with us! We appreciate your kind words and we are glad that you find value in our content. We are honoured that we feel like family. It’s important to us that we are simply ourselves on camera. We are glad to have you following along! Cheers! M&D
I heard that stint of rain was relentless! Good for you to drop the extra work of videos and get to the Algarve and take a bit of time for yourselves. Porto (and Gaia, Matosinhos, etc) is where I initially was going to move to prior to visiting Madeira. Definitely an area worth going back to see again imo.
Hello! Yes- that bit of rain was relentless. ☔️We made it work but the videos would have been dark, us screaming at the camera and not doing justice to the beautiful landscape, colours and culture of the mainland. Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
We appreciate you documenting the RV trip. You confirmed our thoughts on attempting to RV here in Portugal. We have been in Lisbon for two years now and just enjoy taking the bus to each town and staying in lodgings. We caught the last week of rain here in Lisbon at the end of October after returning from a month in the US where we encountered zero rain. We need to get a trip in to Funchal and the Azores so we will brush up on your videos to set an itinerary. Thanks!
Hello guys! Thank you so much for your kind comment and sharing your story. Best of luck on your travels!! We hope you find our Funchal videos helpful as you plan. Thanks for watching and following along! Cheers! M&D
Hello! Crazy rain ☔️ right?? We survived but it was relentless. We are so glad you loved 💕Madeira… it’s easy to do so! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Under the kind of rain we had, it was impossible to do anything outside. We’re back traveling but we prefer to stay at hotels. We’re in Guimarães in a monastery. It’s very beautiful and quite different to the way the monks lived. Sort of ironic.
Hello! Oh that sounds amazing to stay in a monastery there. That’s on our list! Next time we will stay at some of the beautiful hotels, monasteries and castles we learned about on this Rv trip. Good for you guys! Enjoy! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Really love watching your videos! You mentioned at around the 10 minute mark about the challenges of filming and editing while traveling. As a fellow youtuber, I can completely agree with you!! I found that if you create content in advance, edit it etc.. and upload it to youtube, you can release it on a regular schedule and just be there to respond to comments when you publish it. This has made going on vacation soooo much easier!! lol given that will be hard if you want to do a 3 month trip... but for your 1-3 week trips that you plan to do in the future, consider creating the content before you go and it will make your life soooo much easier!
Hello Jake! Ha ha yes the on the road UA-camr problems we encounter!! We’ve sat in a Burger King for hours trying to upload! Agree that pre filming prior to a holiday is best - unless of course what we were trying to do which was filming the holiday! 😂 Travel content is a lot of work! Especially with a team of 2. We have just discovered your channel. We subscribed and will check out all your content. We have a lot to learn! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
I think you were both courageous from the start. I'm grateful you've showed a couple of areas we would not have seen and now want to visit. I know 'up north' the weather can be a little 'damp' - and the locals have webbed feet!! We seemed to escape the worst of the storms in Setubal and following my close interaction with the hard surface of a tennis court, plus subsequent appreciation of Portugese health care - I have not been outside too much!!
Hello Tinglestingles! Ha ha always appreciate hearing from you. Glad all is well is Setubal. Take care of yourself! As always, we appreciate you watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Well you made it 2 months and 3 weeks longer than I would have! I appreciated the videos you were able to share with us and I am sure the reunion with Leo will be a sweet one! See you next time in Porto.
Hello Debi! Ha ha we made it- rain and all! And yes Porto deserves a dedicated trip in the sunshine. Hopefully we will meet up with you then. Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Thanks for your amazing videos, I have watched all of them. I would love to see a video on Tavira and get your thoughts on living/retiring there, over Maderia.
Hello Stuart! Thank you for watching and following along. We will most likely talk about Tavira as part of the Algarve in a future video. Tavira is pretty and it was quiet when we were there. Love the location near Spain, quaint town center and a beautiful beach. For us, it’s probably too small of a town, but if that’s what you’re looking for - it would be great. Cheers! M&D
Thanks for the insights into Portuguese RV life! I always wonder how it is compared to other countries. Also interesting to hear your experience with different demographics on the road. Are they mostly International or local RV travelers?
Hello! We would say mostly European travellers. Many from France , Germany and Netherlands are the ones we saw most often. Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
If you don't like rain you shouldn't come to Northern Portugal (and specially the Minho region) from October to April (and specially from October to December) - rains and wind storms are extremely common during this period. In fact, it rains much more in Northern Portugal compared to places that are generally associated with rain, like London or Amsterdam - the difference is that there is a very clear dry season in Mainland Portugal with very stable and mild weather (which include, over all, the months of July and August), while in Western Europe it rains all over the year (just like in the Azores, btw).
Hello! Exactly. And we are enjoying every moment- even the relentless rain ☔️! As far as filming it though- it just didn’t translate well on video. Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
Hello! Ha ha of course not! We would expect to pay more for that type of campground. The more inexpensive ones we described are great for a quick night and the price reflects that. We are simply pointing it out. Thanks for watching. Cheers! M&D
I like there "Gentlemen 's agreement". And it is a pleasure to "Stick" with you guys. Yes, life in a camper van is not for everyone.
Hello Rui! We appreciate your kind words! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D

"Please, it's just....I don't know.....drizzling!"
Thank you for allowing us to join you on this amazing adventure. We also miss you back home. Travel safe and see you soon 😊

I was in Porto during that rainy period too. Went over to Madeira for a week to escape. Loved Madeira.

Hello Portimao! Thanks for watching and following along. Cheers! M&D
