I love the annotations because to an untrained observer such as myself, I wouldn't know what all subtle frame-saving tricks are going on. When I watch a Mario 64 TAS run, I don't really need to be told what's going on, because I can clearly see that Mario just glitched through a solid wall and magically reverse ass-rocket propelled himself across the environment. That game is broken as hell. The glitches and tricks in SMB3 aren't as flashy and obvious, because SMB3 is one of the most well-refined games ever made and it's not completely obvious when it's being broken, so the annotations make this video as interesting and entertaining as a Mario 64 TAS run despite the gameplay not being as overtly crazy and spectacular.
I know how much hell it is getting p-speed as fast as possible and when you watch a tas like this you never really put any notice in the fact that he fills tye p-meter so fast even tho he probably put lots of effort into it
holy shit this is so fun to watch! SMB3 is definitely the most fun 2D mario game to watch at its peak, you even made auto levels fun to watch! the annotations where great too ;)
first time seeing this since i played it in the 90's. This is really Super. Like Unreal. Imagine the time spent just perfecting this. Kudos to all that made this happen. Really Enjoyed it. Thanks
Paused at 2:19. Stared at screen for about a minute. Went into living room, picked up every gaming system I own, tossed them in trash. TFW you know you can never ever EVER be that good.
Probably one of the best SMB3 runs I’ve ever seen, yours and MitchFlowerPowers runs are incredible! Love the annotations explaining all the wall glitches, slides, jumps, and strats too by the way. #Subscribed
this is a tas. not sure if you knew that, but that means that this run is done with tools. this is just a recording of specific movements to do at one time.
Lmao this was the very first video game i've ever played, watching you beating like this makes me feel sad :(, it is fun to watch how I spend countless hours beating this game as a kid and watch a TAS like this beat the game in one hour, damn!
Thank you so much for adding the annotations!! There are often times when I wonder why speedrunners do certain things and I love the theories behind every move.
Woah! Why haven't I found this TAS earlier? This definitely has some of the most informative/entertaining commentary of any speedrun ever! I've played this game many times but still learned quite a few new things. For example: I've been incorrectly calling the "P-wing" a "Pee-wee" for well over ten years now. That's kinda embarrassing.
Just simply amazing. I loved them humor in this video. It really kept me watching a video that I probably wouldn't have watched completely if it weren't for that. Great job 👍

A TAS is a Tool Assisted Speedrun, meaning the player used slowdown, savestates, and frame advantage and used a TAS Imput to get specific frame by frame movements.
And there is so much more we could have added when it comes to the technical aspect of how we did this and how all mechanics in the game work. But it's nice to shed some light on some of them and I'm glad it has been appreciated by most =).
You're geniuses! I'm out of words to comment your awesome command of the game. In Costa Rica we would say "¡estos maes están volando!" Literally: "These guys are flying," or the expression "¡estos maes están solos!"; but you know they mean you're freaking impressive. Pure Life
Most likely the first ever TAS video i watched with text commentary. Very creative, i never skipped any part due to that commentary. Thank you for the entertainment. Subacribed.

1000 times yes on the annotations. Its cool to see where the frames are saved and how.
Yeah it makes you feel like you're not completely alone just watching TASBoT Play a video game and it helps you to understand some of the cool tricks
I really love your on-screen commentary!
I was going to say that too, lol.
I really like the comments, it hels you understand the movie more! Awwesome TAS

The sheer amount of 'swag' on 1-4 makes me happy every single time I watch it. It is exactly what tasing on an auto scrolling level should be
I love how you get so close to being dead but you don't die good job and good TAS
TAS is fun because you can do ridiculous stuff by playing the game frame by frame

Classic TAS. I look forward to intelligent TAS's where the rom is analyzed and it discovers new tricks and fastest paths.
The game has been analyzed and has been heavily destroyed: tasvideos.org/6466S.html
popular NES games have been searched for pretty much everything at this point, finding a new useful glitch in SMB3 would be a miracle event
