Yeah, take it back :D. Well, I recorded this frame by frame and with save states, with the goal of achieving perfection. I, nor anybody else, can play this game this well, as some of the strategies used are impossible to replicate by a human player in real time. This run isn't meant to show any skills, it should be "just fun to watch sometimes", as you stated.
I'm not sure if anyone has even done a playthrough of this game without tools... But I highly recommend the many skilled players on the leaderboard for the original SMB3: speedrun.com/smb3

What was the purpose behind all the jumping before entering the pipe around 6:50? Some sort of manipulation? I know Tompa's TAS videos are about no wasted movement, so I'm just curious.
When you get an item from a chest, it has to stop blinking before it's added to the inventory. So if I entered the pipe any earlier, I wouldn't have recieved the flute

And yeahh, but only Mario or a kicked koopa shell can hit blocks, and you can notice neither of those did here, so it wasn't hit
How were you able to clip in between the blocks at 1:12. Is it the same principle as corner boosting?
If there is s coin next to the corner, it is possible to clip through with less speed and a different angle. I don't fully know why, it has something to do with coins also being blocks, despite that you can go through them.
I honestly think this Kaizo is quite easy tbh but a very good TAS
at least it's easier to trigger glitches in SMB3 than SMW
Everything you see in Kaizo hacks of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World is similar to what you see in the Super Mario Maker games.

Why the death in the first castle of world 4?
It's because of a bug regarding the big ? block. As you can see the first time I enter the level, the block looks used already. To fix this, I had to die.

There are many places to play fireboy and watergirl, but hudgames is a great site. Trust me, i played this game without lagging!

Yes. If you pick a specific section, I can explain in detail what's going on. This romhack is using the same exact game engine as the original game, everything working here will work the same way in the original.

And just out of curiosity - was this game designed to actually be played in real time? It seems impossible if not for TAS.
The big blocks are a bit buggy how they work, I can't remember the details though... But in order to activated, I have to die and replay the stage.
So far, I don't think anyone has beaten this in real time at all, I could be wrong on that one though. But yeah, wasn't really meant for RTA.

I presume you mean at 24:16? Not really a glitch, just that the game's hit boxes don't always cover the entire sprite =).

Oh my God. You have the skills of a demon. To be able to beat this game deathless is a superhuman feat, congratulations. Meanwhile, me and others all struggle endlessly to even beat one level deathless.
You should check out the video description to learn more about what a TAS - Tool Assisted Speedrun is. I didn't do this in one sitting, I didn't play in real time. I recorded my inputs frame by frame and use save states on an emulator. The goal is to find out how fast a game can be beaten in theory when everything is optimal.

The movie modified until 3-1 was very interesting in all the worlds. But some ideas were not used. The whistle is getting before leaving the pipe. Other small tricks.

I know there are a couple of things missed out in the run, I did some mentions about it in the commentary stream.
I knew I could die and still have the flute in my inventory. I wanted to beat the same amount of levels as Mitch did in his TAS. I could have skipped level 5-3 as well, which I didn't as Mitch played it.
I feel very dumb about the 4-4 clip actually... That one was quite obvious, so was the 7-2 one. Can't believe I didn't think of it.
Oh well, this was mostly a "for fun" project and nothing I wanted to optimise perfectly. But thanks a lot for pointing out these things and more!

The Japanese version of the original game is mostly the same though, smell variation however, but not as major as here :D

It's better to teach people how to learn the answer than to tell the answer. It does say "tool-assisted speedruns," in the description at least, I guess I could make it even clearer however... Sorry.
How is Possible To Wall-Jump?
All walls are made out of 16*16 pixel blocks. When you run/jump into a wall, Mario will usually slightly clip into the wall before you are automatically being pushed back to the left.
If you jump into the wall just above one of these blocks, it's possible that Mario will land on the block before the game pushes him to the left. Before that happens, you have one frame to perform a jump
That's the quick summary of it, I hope it's understandable enough!

No, there is no hacking, as you don't modify the game's code in any way. This, as well as everything else going on in this run, can be done on the regular game as well and is done in speedruns/TASes.

I couldn't find any real time runs of this romhack. Such run would have less clips in it. Mitch, who made the hack, did his own TAS which includes less clips in it: ua-cam.com/video/kQf73hvTiTU/v-deo.html
That said: My aim for this TAS was to beat the game as quickly as possible, which includes clipping through walls when faster. Sorry that it doesn't end up appealing to all audiences.
It's not that it's unappealing, it's just that I'd like to see more of the WORLDS, it looks like a really cool game and I wonder if somebody would be able to even play it regular or is it specifically made for speedrunning?? I'm not just a noob, I do see that some spots are specifically designed for speedrunning, but again, I just like to see more of the boards themselves... That being said, it's much cooler when you guys are jumping off of turtle shells and then grabbing them and bouncing off a Goombas and doing all that cool stuff i cant do, I'm much more impressed by what's on the screen then watching the clip... That's all, if it wasn't appealing, I wouldn't have watched it all the way through LOL

In levels with diagonal walls, there are some special properties in order to have slopes working in the game, it will easier zip Mario up when he's landing on corners.
At that specific spot, there is no solid wall below the pipe as it is above the pipe, see the black line. So when Mario lands there, he'll clip into the wall and be zipped upwards.

This hack wasn't designed so that walljumping is a requirement, it's just a handy trick to do in TASes, but very much doable without. Clipping through walls, such as at 1:38, is however required in an number of places, correct =).
All these strategies work the same in the original game as well, for clarification.

It is not cheating to use in-game warps, for obvious reasons. The aim of this run was not to beat all levels, also obviously, that is different category and tracked differently. What I had to do for this category was done.
