Well, MacArthur's dad wasn't the highest ranking General in the army, and MacArthur didn't graduate with an "average" grade, he graduated top of his class, third highest in West Point history!
I think average grade meant his grade average my family still has a vote for MacArthur pin from his presidential campaign

Arthur MacArthur was the highest ranking general of his time, back then the commanding general of the army was Major general, MacArthur was Lieutenant General.

MacArthur swept thru the island chains masterfully in the pacific theater and he recaptured korea. only politicians stopped him. He was a man too good for his time

In the 1930s, He also turned regular army troops on WWl veterans non-violent protesting about a bounce due them from the war. Many are trampled by calvary horses. Some deaths and many injuries. The late Marine Corps General Smedley Butler tells that story. Lost respect for the guy.

Macarthur was a dog,treated his troops like crap and cannon fodder.
