I feel like a lighter blue strap or a bracelet would have matched better, but otherwise I have no complaints. Love the rotor and dial combo. Cheers from California!
Shouldn’t the built in crown spring be fully compressed at 4:42? Because when the crown is fully screwed down, the spring is fully compressed correct? Seems like this measurement without compressing the crown spring would always give you a greater stem length than necessary.
I might be wrong, but if you compress the crown spring, you'll have to take a different measurement than the one I took in the video. Compressing the crown with the same measurement I took will actually result in a longer than necessary stem. This is my opinion, and what worked for me in the 5 builds I made so far. Thank you for chiming in!
I am glad you liked it! I used kwong yuen no:gy006, size 3.0. I got it from aliexpress, it comes in a pack of 8 or so, and feels like premium quality for the price. I left links to it in the video description if you’re interested in picking it up. Thank you for chiming in!
I’d like to add that you can use any 3.0 mm flat head screw driver you have laying around, just make sure it’s not one of those magnetic ones, as that might severely impact the accuracy of your watch, and then you’ ll need to demagnetize it.
@@simplewatchtalks That's brilliant thank you! I've got a watch currently that I built but I couldn't change the rotor to the one I picked up specifically for it! Thanks again
Thank you for your video. It was well presented. You make it look easy. ;-) I've never built a watch but I am certainly interested in doing so. I have a beautiful watch whose movement (a PT5000) has died and I am thinking of getting a new movement that is comparable but more dependable and will also fit within the case. Why not make my first experience as difficult as possible, right? Taking those hands off the dial will be nerve-racking. 😲 May Karma always smile upon you.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ve never worked on the PT5000, so I am sorry I can’t give an educated advice. If you have a cheap broken quartz watch, I would open it up and practice the hand installation until I am comfortable with it. Automatic movements, especially pt5000s might be a bit different, but it’s the same principle to an extent. Otherwise, you can start with the PT5000, I am sure that with a lot of patience, steady hands, and a good tutorial you’ll get there. Best of luck to you!
Great build! May have to do one myself! For everything in your part list, there's a lot of other options. Are you able to provide what variation of each part you used? For instance, for the hands, it appears that the minute/hour are black with white inside, and the second hand is white. None of the options provided in the link match. The case is also hard to tell the difference between the two options. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment! Regarding the hands, I used handset number 1 (all silver). The case has 2 option, display case back (color 2), and stainless steel one (color 1), I used color 2, meaning display case back. I hope this helps!
@@simplewatchtalks Awesome, thank you! In the video those hands really do come through as black, I bought both sets and may do the black hour/minute and the silver secondhand. Will have to see how that looks. I didn't realize that the case options were open back or closed, the pictures/description were not clear on that and I thought it meant different finishes. Thanks and really great work again!
Sorry about that, I’ll specify it in the description to prevent further confusion. With this dial color, I would advise to stick with all silver hands, that’s just my advice. Thank you for the follow up!
@@simplewatchtalks Hey there, got all my parts in the mail yesterday and the back rotor is a pretty stark difference than the front dial. After looking at the video, they appear to match. Does your build not have matching dial and back rotor? Looking at the aliexpress link, I'm not seeing another that could match better, but wanted to check before I started building! I ordered the "light green" dial and the Color 55 rotor. Thanks again, looks great regardless!
@ The dial and rotor colours aren't matching 100% for me either, but it's very close. I also ordered the same light green dial and colour 55 rotor as you did. Thanks for the update and good luck with the build!
Thats the nicest custom build ive seen so far. On a comparable budget.
I am really glad you liked it!
Fun fact. You can buy radico putty under cleaning putty at the Dollar General. For the American watch builders.
Thanks for the tip!
This is really wonderful. Love your watch.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Very very nice watch. Thinking about beach days in the summer.
I am glad it reminded you of the good days!
Nice work!
Much appreciated!
Beautiful Custom Build..!!!👍👍👍
Thank you!
so beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice build!
I would recommend not holding the end of the crown stem for fear of damaging its functionality
That’s good to know, I’ll be careful next time. Thank you!
Good job.
Thank you!

Those are great suggestions that are worth trying. Thank you so much for chiming in! I hope you are doing well in California, stay safe!
@@simplewatchtalks Thank you! While I'm not in the affected area, I have some friends and family near there, so I'm keeping them in my thoughts.

The Seiko Terra
I hope you liked it!
Love this watch and strongly considering it inspiring my next build! Also what flat head screw driver do you use for the rotor replacement?

hand to rewind when it was fitted into the case as only then did I notice the dial hand a chapter ring attached
Chapter rings can be easy to miss sometimes.

2:41 the minute dile it's not yet on 12 and the date jumps
Would a metal strap fit on the case?
Yes, generic 20mm metal bracelets should work. A president bracelet would go with this watch very well.
