You should do a video where you organise your plant supplies and then you can talk us through the products you use at the same time! Organisation videos are just soo satisfying
Yes please do a plant supply video!! As someone just getting into plants it would be super helpful to see exactly what you are using for your plants. Love your videos!!
Finally someone who just uses regular tap water on their plants! So many ppl on youtube make a big fuss about using rainwater or getting filtered water and letting it sit for a few days... like that's just so inconvenient lmao. Loved this video, it helped me a lot:)
I don't have a faucet or shower with a hose either. I don't even have a bathtub (....I can't wait to renovate). But I have on occasion ran my outside hose I'm through the window above my sink. Just make sure you have a nozzle you can control the water with. My neighbor thought I was nuts, but I had to leave on a holiday and it sped things up.
wish i saw this before fertilising my plants today... some of them were drryyyy and i just fertilised😭 hope they’re ok! i just started fertilising today 😭
My heart dropped watching you water marantas with tap water..... them I remembered..... You are in Canada. No clue what the water is like there. Chemical free it would seem . Gorgeous prayer plants!
First off you are gorgeous! Love your videos and hey fellow nurse! Hope you are staying safe during this pandemic. I live in Edmonton and it’s been raining everyday here. At least I don’t have to water my outdoor plants or turn on my humidifier ☺️
Love this & knowing your tips & tricks...good idea pre-watering the super dry guys, I’m going to do that from now on. Also I have that orchid spray fertilizer & never use it, so I’m going to start spraying those hoyas! Love your channel!! Thanks for another awesome vid!
Right after you finished talking about the new pitcher coming in and watered it in the first batch you squished it between the two pots when putting it back and I almost screamed
Do you do anything to prevent pests on your houseplants other than finding them?? I know some people use mosquito bits but I’m not sure if there’s something you recommend
Fern I love your show and I'm learning a lot about house plants I didn't know before. that being said, the background music for parts of this video sounded like the Muzak played on the CVS Pharmacy's recording when they put you on hold. I don't know why but it sounds like an old record that is warped!
I believe I do the same thing, but I use different fertilizer.😊 I am going to be ordering the orchid mist fertilizer spray for my hoyas, I’m also going to try it on my vanilla orchid.🥰
Ugh my Sanseveria never unwrinkled either :( I think its scarring because i also recently water propagated one of mine AND ITS STILL WRINKLED!! Also pls do a supplies video, thanks oxo
I fertilize lightly with every water in the growing season, or in the winter if my plants are actively growing :) basically if you see new growth it is safe to do so!
I like your collection of plants they are beautiful and the love and care you have given to them I see you have some I have not seen in my country Jamaica yet
Honestly girl this is unrelated but your tattoos, hair, make up and clothes are just so stunning in every video, could literally be my female UA-camr crush (I am straight and in a relationship lol but you're just so stunning!)
it may be a little harder for your kitchen sink but even if your renting exchanging faucets heads is common and pretty easy. the shower is usually a screw-on even.
Switching the shower to a removable sprayer was super easy. Didn't even need tools. Bough a cheap $25-30 on Amazon and installed it in minutes. Game changer! Ya sink.... not so easy
I hope they'll be okay!! Last time I went on vacation I asked my grandmas to water my plants and they overwatered one and it almost died but thankfully it's putting out lots of new growth! Maybe you can do a DIY self watering system for your plants??
I just got back from a week long vacation and all my plants were perfectly fine when I checked on them so if you’re only going to be gone for a couple days they should be okay!
It’s funny. I did the same thing with watering videos... I have too many to update so ended up doing updates while watering. Water costs so I drain the water into a tub and use it again...besides the fact that it might spread something. Anyway, about the faucet... we were living in apartment with no fancy faucet so I can totally understand. I was using a plastic/rubber product for kids which you can lead the water to different direction so kids can reach out...
Great idea to reuse the water. Also would save on fertilizer/nutrients. And yes haha I quickly realized it was not going to be possible to show more than one room lol.
Issybellala i water it every time I remember.. so around 4-5 weeks 🤔 they’ve shot up pups too! But some are a little wrinkly so I thought that’s how they were supposed to be. Maybe I am watering too often ☹️ thank you for the advice!
Mirella Orozco oh wow, you should definitely start watering a little more 😂I think you’re under watering. Snake plants like succulents wrinkle when they need water.
Hi Fern, I recently bought a little wild looking Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma. His newer leaves are smaller (he wasn't getting enough light is my guess). I was wondering if you think I should leave him to grow, or cut and propagate the newer leaves? Thanks! Sending smiles, Jordan.
That's a great question lol. I don't think I have a particular style at the moment. It's really just a mash up. I'm trying to discover and learn about styling my home more though.
Ummmm we need you to start linking your outfit deets in the description box as well! Love this hoodie and that 'Self Care' flower shirt you wore in another video too!
Thank you for the lovely video :) when you were speaking of the string of hearts and how it's very vocal when it needs water, mine has wrinkly leaves on the top but the rest of the leaves look healthy. Am I under watering it? I usually give it water once a week when the leaves look extra wrinkly.
You should get yourselves a little kids wagon to carry your plants out to your kitchen & then back to the plant room.🤗 Enjoying your videos!👍Not the music so much.
New subscriber here too! Love These Kind of Videos. So its ok to let fertilized water in the sink? I got really paranoid about this since I read to avoid fertilizer in your drain.
One of my snake plants has a wrinkled leaf from when it got thirsty a (long) while back, but since then the wrinkle has never fixed itself lol maybe they stay like that? It's still firm and healthy!
what soil do you use for your moisture loving plants , the soil i am using inset the best for moisture loving plants and it seems like whatever your using is great
also where do you get most of your plants, mostly your pitcher plant i think that pitcher plants are such cool plants but i dont know where to get one at
I will either just use regular potting mix and add a small amount of perlite (enough so that is still drains but not too quickly!) OR if I want to get fancy I will mix coco coir, perlite, orchid bark, and charcoal. I don't want it to be super dense, I'd rather have to water it more often than have water sitting for too long.
I tend to find a lot of them on Facebook or from plant friends. I like to buy from North Shore Tropicals and Crystal Star Nursery too though :) and local shops in my area!
If you buy new plants, do you look up if they are toxic for dogs or not? I'm gonna be living with someone that has a cat and I don't know if I should throw all my toxic plants away or not.
Hi! What is that cactus looking plant you have in the black plant stand at 15:11? I have the same one but with purple on the ends, it was given to me as a gift but I lost the tag that says the species :'o
Just sayin' but a cart with wheels would definitely expedite your watering chores! One trip instead of 20. Unless of course if you are racking up your steps
@@wildfern I actually have that exact fertilizer for my orchid, does it just help them bloom or is it all around better for them? I just never heard of that!
i have a question no one ever asks.. arent there any bugs with all these plants ?? im about to become a new plant mom and the whole bug thing is running all over my head
Regular bugs (like spiders n stuff from outside) - no. Houseplant pest bugs - yes. Pests are usually tiny enough that you don’t know they’re there unless you are looking though.

I recently got a moisture meter & it is life changing.

I love when I have those chill days with lots of time to slowly water and check on all my plants. So relaxing =)
Yessss. So therapeutic.
🙋🏽♀️ Me too! 😊
I would love to see a video on how you make your soil!
Yes please do a plant supply video!! As someone just getting into plants it would be super helpful to see exactly what you are using for your plants. Love your videos!!

I use tap water too, but I boil it first 😷 it's a lot of extra work, but it's worth it, and my plants ☘️ love it ❤😊
The Bear paw is the cutest thing I’ve seen today 😍❤️
Isn’t it! 🥰
Wonderful video. So relaxing and calming :D
I appreciate the chill vibe in all your videos!
Thank you 😊😊
I know this is completely off topic but you're gorgeous and I always love all your videoss!!!
You're so kind thank youuu
I actually did not know you can fertilize hoyas through their leaves! I'll try that next time!

i enjoy watching your videos so much. they are so calming. greetings from germany :)

Would a baking pan work better for you to carry the plants to get watered?
Good idea😊❤
I’ve noticed my whale fin is also wrinkly even if it’s just been watered! I wasn’t sure if that was normal or not
How often do you water it? You’re probably watering too much they only need to be watered every month or month and a half
I water mine about once a month and mine is always wrinkly too, but it's never soft. The wrinkles feel like the growth, so I figure it's ok
Yes i definitely am an underwaterer 😅
Hi Fern, I recently bought a little wild looking Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma. His newer leaves are smaller (he wasn't getting enough light is my guess). I was wondering if you think I should leave him to grow, or cut and propagate the newer leaves? Thanks! Sending smiles, Jordan.
Give him a stake/pole to climb up and he will produce bigger leaves :)
I love your videos, what is your style in decor? Love your style

I go by the "mature" leaves on the top. If they are hard the plant shouldn't need water.
Totally need to buy Orchid spray for me hoyas.
Also, your shirt is hilarious 😂
Yessss. Lol thank you hehe

In the summer.. usually about once a week.

Great post.. Hope to see more. . .😀😀🙏
I bought orchid fertilizer for my hoyas cause of u!! I'm excited to see the results!!
Yessss
hey are u wearing contacts if so what color and brand? or are they natural? gurrrlll you're so pretty!!!
They’re natural! Thank you 💓
If you buy new plants, do you look up if they are toxic for dogs or not? I'm gonna be living with someone that has a cat and I don't know if I should throw all my toxic plants away or not.
I don't because I know my dogs have never messed with my plants. I know cats can be a lot trickier though haha.
I always learn so many things from you girl, we need to hangouutttttt
Yes I miss you

It's a thanksgiving cactus :)

whenever people balance stuff on tht little intersection between the two sinks i get so bloody nervous it’s gonna fall off 🤡🤡🤡
Oh my gosh ahaha I have definitely had things fall off of there before. Idk why I keep doing it lol.
OMG same! Nervous and jealous that I only have one sink lol
Lol right as I read this comment she put the sansevieria cylindrica on the middle section.
I love your tattoos lol anyway whats the mixture for your super thrive and liquid fertilizer in a 2 liter container? Thanks!
Thanks! 1/4 tsp fertilizer & 1/8 tsp super thrive
wildfern Thanks im a fellow nurse and a plant person too so yeah, ive subscribed!😁👍🏼
Is using distilled water absolutely necessary for the maranta plants? I’ve heard so many different things.
No! I've only ever used tap water :)
How do you clean your terracotta pots? Only with water? My pots look awful.. i wonder if they quality is bad or maybe i have awful water...
I usually scrub them with some dish soap :) or soak them in very diluted bleach if there was a pest.
i have a problem memorising the exact location of my plant when i water them together at the sink haahha
Room temp water when watering 👍🏽
Just sayin' but a cart with wheels would definitely expedite your watering chores! One trip instead of 20. Unless of course if you are racking up your steps
Do you have a composting system to make natural fertiliser? Just wondering :)
We compost, but I don’t use it for fertilizer.

Loool thank you!
Why do you choose not to bottom water?
I do sometimes bottom water :) just depends on the plant. I find it’s trickier to bottom water in terracotta, just doesn’t work as well for me.
I guess your moisture meter just doesn't work!
I get so distracted when it cuts to her talking to the camera 😅
