Also you look so pretty
I was at Home Depot the other day and I found a scindapsus at the back of a shelf. It looked so sad and it really needed a drink! I asked for a discount and ended up getting it for 2 dollars! Brought it home and immediately gave it some water, but after a while I realized it was still looking super sad so I took it out of its pot and found that it had root rot. I washed the roots, took the rotted ones off and put it in some water. I really hope it lives! I've only had plants for about 8 months so I'm quite new so if anyone has some suggestions I'd really appreciate it! Also love your vids! keep up the great work!
What you've done is great, if you leave the jar of water on a bright warm window sill it'll root so fast!
that's an awesome deal! water was definitely a good choice ahah, always good to keep an eye on it. i'd recommend taking some cuttings and propagating them in water just in case the original plant dies.
Yay! I voted for the plant mom/plant chores! 😁🌿 Perfect video to watch while inhaling my coffee lol
YES - yay! *goes to brew another pot*
I love watching these types of videos while doing my planty chores 🌱❤️
Yes 🌿🥰 same!
Love watching this while I’m doing my planty chores! If you spray the moss before you try to pull it off the roots it makes it so much easier to get off. 🌿☺️
Good to know! :)
When you’re so quick nobody else is here yet 🥺
Yassss 👏❤️🌿
We are here!
Yay, I voted for plant chores video so thank you so much for this! I watched this while dusting my plants 😊
Also, I recently brought home a burgundy rubber tree and it was infested with spider mites (my first and last time buying from Lowe's). I tried neem oil solution for about a week and they were still crawling all over the plant. I bought Safer's End All spray and I kid you not, 4 days later, not a single webbing or spider mite in sight! I ended up hosing the plant down to the roots and repotting. Happy to say that I have checked it daily since and so far, no pests! I even mixed mosquito bits into the soil and it got rid of the gnats as well 😁
Ahh amazing - so glad that worked! They are such a pain in the butt. Thanks for watching 🥰
Lowe’s is not bad! I have had some really good finds. I got a huge pothos and good sized scindapsus exotica and monstera adonsonii for under $10 each. They are still alive and beautiful to this day. I’d give them another try or another Lowe’s and just check the plant thoroughly although I have been lucky and I’ve never gotten a plant with pests from anywhere and I never look (shame on me).
I placed my plants that had root aphids and spider mites in water. If new growth pops up, I'll plant them in LECA or new soil.
I put a bit of hydrogen peroxide in my humidifier when I fill it with water so it cleans itself and doesn't get gross :)
Einfach Lena that’s actually so smart!! im definitely trying that.
Soooo smart. Going to do this!
How much do you think you put in?? Such an amazingly smart idea!
_pandaemoniam_ Panda not very much, about 1/10
I’d say to leave your Hoya on the pot, but if it doesn’t grow, maybe try leca
Seconded ☺
Agreed
Why dont you just leave the moss on the roots when you pot the cuttings ups. If anything the moss will add aeration to the soil.
i get so happy when i see you’ve uploaded a new video! keep up the good work ✨sending good vibrations for your house move x
I wouldn't downsize the hoya as it was still putting out leaves so it must be happy enough. Unless you are going to repot in leca then you might as well do it I guess.
Definitely a smaller pot for the hoya. They have a shallow fragile root system. Also for the spidermites you should get a makeup brush and lightly scrub the plant and soak in soapy water, webs protect against just spray so you have to disturb them. Good luck with everything you have going on. Appreciate you taking time for us!❤️
I really recommend watching heart shaped leaves’ video on getting rid of spider mites! I thought my calathea zebrina was hopeless but I haven’t seen any since the first treatment 🌸💖🌿
Have you ever tried diatomaceous earth on your plants? Specifically for those spider mites on that pothos.. I swear whenever I'm at my absolute boiling point with pests, I dust some DE on them and they are legitimately gone!! Anwyays, beautiful video as always 🌵🌿 much love from Oregon ❤️
No but I need to!
I would definitely put the hoya compacta in a smaller pot (2.5-3 inches). I had one in the size pot yours is in & ☠, but I have one in a 3 inch pot & it is flourishing.
I’m no expert but I’d leave the Hoya in the pot because at least it’s a terra cotta pot and it will wick away excess moisture quick.
I went to IKEA and I always check the succulents for leaves and I found one leaf and from another succulent I found a top part that had broken off so I'm really excited and hope they will grow into beautiful plants
Your hair and makeup looks soooooo pretty
Thank you!
Love how I’m watching other people taking of their plants when I have a list to do before spring ends 😂
Hey Fern, I really love your plant videos! 😻 Just one tip - you can actually leave the moss on the roots of the cuttings. Removing the moss disturbes the roots and moss in the soil actually helps with moisture and drainage :) also if the water has trouble running through the soil, lose it up a bit more and put more chunky stuff in there like orchid bark or coconut fibre :) much love ✨
Oh thank you!
That is the cutest lil propogation station!
👏👏👏proud of your division cutting the leaves! Must be hard! Clay pot gives it extra air circulation so I think you can leave it as it is as long as it doesn’t stay moist long time.
I love your channel!! 🤩 I’m a new-ish plant mom since quarantine began in March. Question: I potted my monstera adansonii propagated cutting and it isn’t doing too hot 😞 any tips?
Thanks so much! I keep my propagations pretty moist for the first couple of weeks and then start watering the same as I do the mother plant. Other than that, I don’t do anything special.
I have soaked my humidifier in vinegar, works great.
Please take us with you on your moving journey!
I shall :)
Hi Fern, I recently found your channel and I am crazy stoked and inspired to step up my plantselection. Love watching your videos. send you hugs from vienna, austria 💕
Awe thank you so much!
That begonia is plant goals! ❤️ 😍🌿
I love her. Thank you!
I just sat down after finishing my daily plant routine just to watch yours on UA-cam 😂
Love the knee tattoo btw!
Perfect timing hehe 🥰 thank you!!
You are so pretty I CAN'T 😭 hope your plants live a long life 🌱
I'm also moving in 2 weeks, it's going to be so stressful to transport all these plants! Good luck with your move 😘
Thank you so much. Good luck to you too - we got this!
@@wildfern Yes we do ! ♥️
This is such a cute fresh look!
I put honey on the cuts because it's antibacterial ( something you could do too lol)
Great video - just got to say how much it made me giggle when your dog's ear was moving when you were taking the moss off the roots haha xx
yesss please make a vid on pest prevention/ treatment!!
You are an ig filter I put on myself when I try and take a selfie! So pretty! 💚
Neem oil really isn't good for spider mites. You can use rubbing alcohol, a couple of drops of dish soap and water in a spray bottle works really well. You can also get a pre made solution called mite-X at your local garden center. Beautiful plants btw.
Thank you!!
Sitting on my floor repotting my monstera and watching this hahahaha
Awesome!! 🌿 thank you 🥺
lol the monstera albo root coming out of the pot is crazy it grew longer since i last saw it!
Hahahaha omg. It just keeps going! 😆
omg I just found your channel and I’m obsessed 🥰🥺 Ive been getting more into plants and your collection is so stunning
Thanks for subbing!! Welcome
This was great motivation to finally pot all my cuttings!
Right! I always put it off... But it feels so good to get done.
I pour a small cap's worth of white vinegar in my humidifier and use a baby bottle brush to get the dust/hair out. Mine always inadvertently sucks in cat hair
Ahh smart - thanks!
As usual, love the video! Love watching you do your plant chores while I do mine. Im currently battling mealybugs 🙃🌿🌱🌳
Also just wondering but I've got tons of plants (70+ just in basement setup, more upstairs as I sell plants too), mostly succulents and loads of others (lots of unusual bonsai). Is this something people would like to see? 🌳🌿🌱
Congrats on your up and coming move enjoy and be blessed and safe
What a great idea, having a Plant Diary
It’s so helpful :) I love lists
oh my gosh!! I love your little propagating wall hanger!! where did you get it?!
I’m pretty sure it’s from Etsy
You need a miticide to kill spider mites. I don't know if Garden Safe Fungicide3 is available in Canada, but it's a fungicide, miticide and insecticide all in one. I couldn't live without it.
I love your plant care videos
Hi I know I’m really late but I really want to start housing plants and I was wondering if you had any good recommendations for beginner plants and any tips also I live in Ireland and I don’t think we have doctor bronners so do you use like soap with alcohol soap or can I just use like regular soap that u use 4 ur hands
Love the content can’t wait to get some more plants!!
You should make a video on 5 wishlists for Plants
Who would dislike this 😩 I love your videos! ♥️🌱
🥺❤️
Such a great plant mom! You accomplished so much! I always feel so lazy when doing plant tasks haha. But I love my plant babes. 😅😝
It takes a lot of motivation 😆
You are great! 😃 greetings from Poland 🤓🌿
Omg I feel your pain my pothos had spider mites so I bought I humidifier and it grew mould and died she was so frustrating
coucou j'adore t'es plante j'ai trouvé le sous titrage en français ses trop cool tu devrait le mettre partout lol j'adore tes vidéo bisous
Hey! Any advice for treating a plant with spider mites. At least two of my plants have them and I’m absolutely panicking over it. I sprayed with neem oil already but not sure what else to do. I can’t stand the smell of the oil. It’s crazy.
I really want to try doing a propagation box again, last I put it too close to my south facing Window and the cuttings burnt 😭
Oh nooo
Hi Fern! Love your videos! 😊💚🌿 Was wondering if you've ever heard of the peacock begonia (begonia pavonina) before? It's such a beautiful plant and I can not for the life of me find one to buy in canada. It has a beautiful blue shine to the leaves (if its doesn't recieve a lot of light)... I found a peacock fern on kijiji but they wouldnt guarentee it would arrive alive and I'm also searching for mapania caudata... common theme of irridecent plants lol! I fell in love with how they look but it's really hard to find them and thought it couldn't hurt to ask a fellow plant lover!
Yes they are sooo stunning! I have not ever come across one here either. Good luck!!
i had that exact same mug that you have and a few years ago it went missing, coincidence :o
SO obsessed with u 😍
I think the mites live in the soil so it is best to start new like you are doing!
Yes that’s what I think too :(
Another awesome video! 💚🌿💚
What color/brand lipstick are you wearing? It's wonderful!
Thanks! It’s a colourpop lip pencil in “BFF”
wildfern thanks so much! Def ordering, also LOVE your videos girl ✌🏼❤️
These are my favorite videos :) 💚
Glad you enjoy! I love watching this type of vid too 🥰
I would put the Hoya in Leca , because they really like Leca .
I may!!
Your clear orchid pot link doesn’t work anymore :( i just started a sphagnum moss propagation box thanks to your inspiration!
Thanks for letting me know! And good luck with your propagations 🥰
I love that power bottle spray. I don't have a yard with a hose but can you please tell me what yours is called? Then I'll look online and order one. And i want to ask a quickie off the subject question. How do you get your beautiful eyelashes like that? thank you so much sweetness 💚
It's just a handheld pressure spray bottle - I found it at my local nursery. And the lashes are falsies by the brand Kiss (#11) :)
totally unrelated but which mascara do you use, your lashes look so good ☺️
I was wearing falsies hehe
Love your videos so much Fern! Yes Please! do a video on pest control and prevention would love to know how you do it . love you bunches Fern
Thanks so much 🥰 and it gets moderate light, and the soil is usually kept lightly moist but it doesn’t get too upset if it dries out a bit. I lightly fertilize when watering. That’s it.
@@wildfern thanks love
I enjoyed your plant chore vlog!
I would downsize your hoya .
💚💚
i would downsize! hoyas do prefer to be a little cozy + rootbound.
I made the mistake with my rabbit's foot, if you pinch the stem I think you can feel the node underneath where the stems actually come from.
I am loving FB plant groups and marketplace lately! Just traded for a H. Mauna Loa and P. Mayoi today.
Yes I’ve gotten some pretty awesome stuff off of there! That’s amazing.
What’s wrong with the white on the Hoya? Why cut them off? I don’t know Hoyas ... I know it’s variegated so isn’t white a good thing?
If the plant keeps putting out white it won't have any chlorophyll and will eventually die off. It needs at least some green :)
Can someone tell me what kind of calathea that is?! love it, 3:50
It’s not a plant content but... how about a skin care routine??? Would love itttt
I have one up :)
Your Hindu rope is so cute! Isn't it a shame that we can't keep our white leaves? I know they die off anyway but I just wish they didn't because they are so beautiful! I think you should let it be, as long as it is happy and it WAS growing in that pot the roots are probably well established so personally I would just leave her alone and she will continue to grow for you. Thanks again and I look forward to another informative video! wishing you well xoxo
Just started the video, and have to pause to say you look amazing! What lippie are you wearing? *okay, back to watching video*
Thank you!! Colour pop lip pencil in “BFF”
Hoya Hindu rope loves LECA. Mine grows well in LECA.
Amazing! I think I’m going to switch it.
❤️🌱 love your planty vids
🥰
Enjoyed the video and very informative
GIRL Where did you get your lashes I love them jsjjsjs
Ya please tell us your secrets
They are just “Kiss” lashes from the drugstore (#11)
Why is it bad when a hoya compacta puts out a lot of white leaves? I think they look pretty 😊
because those leaves don’t have any chlorophyll and therefore cannot produce energy for the plant. so chances are that those leaves will die off eventually anyway. but yes they are gorgeous so it’s a pity :(
@@pqpx What about variegated plants like Monstera Albo, which have leaves that are split down the half or have a lot of white on them besides the green part. Will they eventually die off as well?
journeytopeace They shouldn’t bc the leaf itself contains green parts so it should be able to make enough energy, however sometimes the white part does get brown tips 🤷🏻♀️ But if there is a sufficient amount of green in the leaf it should be fine. I’m not sure about the details tbh. hope this was helpful! :)
@@pqpx Yes it was ver helpful. Thank you a lot 😊🥰
Is there o downside to using neem oil that is marketed as facial oil, even if its 100%?
Also I relate SO HARD to forever vacuuming up dirt 🤣🤣 my whole friggen life!! 💙
Haha I think that neem oil is probably fine!
Sending my need for INK into overdrive 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
Girl I’m so jealous of the blue feathers on your neck! 💙
Anyone know what kind of dracena is shown @11:29 ? Its so pwettyyyy
I love your tee!🤩🤩
Thank you!!
Fern you look gorgeous 😍
I looooove your vids. Btw: 16:08 the background. Lol 😜
Would a pitcher do well in leca? Also do they catch many flies? Thanks!
No idea, I’ve only ever had mine in sphagnum moss! I know you can’t fertilize them though. And mine does catch lots of small flies like fruit flies and gnats :)
@@wildfern oooh sphag sounds super easy!
what would happen if you left the moss on the roots? would it lead to root-rot?
Probably not, unless there was a lot maybe, I just like to get it off as much as possible.
what was that amazing stripped plant you put in the shower to clean and water. What is her name thank you she is stunning
Your hair is getting so long! Looks nice!
awesome video!!
where’s your shirt frommm 😍😍😍
Girl, downsize it! Once I downsized mine it is growing like crazy! I think they like to be tight haha whatever you end up doing you go girl! Haha
I would also probably cut the spider mite infested pothos... I’m at the same place with my maranta 😪
Yeah so annoying!
Why did they tell you take offf the white leaves?
