‘ i could never imagine living a life ‘ I FEEL YOUUU I knew I had ADD forever but for some reason my doctor of the time never took me seriously. I had issues with my daily life , and I felt so frustrated especially at work and at school because I always understood everything , I always knew I was smart but would make careless mistakes that made me feel and appear dumb even though i was NOT. It affected my self-esteem for years and I always felt like I was not able to live the life I deserved ; to live to my full potential. I finally got a diagnostic for ADD at age 25 ( was about time ) and I started Concerta. I can now work and study properly, I feel like I’ve been blind for years and now I got glasses on and I can SEE ( hope that makes sense 😅 ) I wish to stay on Concerta , my only advice is keep the dose as low as possible so you avoid building a high tolerance. To all the people out there who are adults and think ADHD is the culprit for your struggles, please get a professional opinion and do not be scared to try medication. It can really change your life ❤️
Hello Lydia! Wow thank you for sharing that! I totally get you when you talk about being bling and getting glasses. That is how I felt back then! :) I wish the medication will continue serving you on this journey called life :)
I’m 44 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD one month ago, and have now be taking Concerta for one month. Before taking it I had no idea what it was like to have calm seas in my mind, rather than frequent hurricanes. Thanks for sharing your story.
Hi Richard I’m 45 and just been diagnosed and after a life time of suffering I’m literally going to start concerta tomorrow! Can you tell me how you’ve got on with it thanks 🙏🏼
Was prescribed anti-depressants for 20 years. Tried to kill myself numerous times. Diagnosed with ADHD at 44. 6 months later life is OK. Cannot remember being as satisfied with my life since I was about 12 years old.
@@showbizsam4440 hmm I have never heard of that med before. Glad it works for you :) I take Concerta myself after breakfast too before I go out there into the world :)
@@ADHDPatrick Happy it's helped you. It saved my life. Anti-depressants are a con in my opinion. Nothing more than a placebo. This stuff hits the spot. Been off work since March after I broke down. Started meds in May and recovering slowly. My 3 kids finally have a dad rather than a broken adult.
Patrick, I want to say thank you. After 33 years of unmedicated ADHD life - with all of its disorganisation, distraction, and unmet potential - today was my first day on Concerta. It was just as you describe; a subtle, but radical shift, allowing me to function normally, to not have to continually fight with my brain to get basic tasks done. I have never felt more euphoric; not from the drug, but simply from operating as a human being can do. It really is like night and day. Thank you again for sharing your story, through your videos, and all the best with your life and journey.
Hello, thats great to hear! I can so relate to this, happy to hear positive experience like this. Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I wish you the best too, stay tuned for more videos on this channel :)
Hi Henri and Patrick, I am 50, just diagnosed with ADHD and 5th day on Concerta! Congrats to you both. I spent years misdiagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety- no antidepressants ever worked, and actually just made me feel empty, which depressed me more. I spent my whole life trying to figure myself out, going on a health journey and becoming a healer myself. Then my life started to slowly crumble, health problems and responsibilities sky rocketed and I had crisis after crisis until I realized that I have ADHD. After taking Concerta, I can finally do what I need to do for myself and my family, but not only that- I am painting, sewing, going out and enjoying the outside. My conversations are focused, my to do lists make better sense but I do feel like it is making me feel aggressive, so I hope I can even out with Concerta or find another medicine that works for me. Good luck ADHD family! Hugs from Canada!
I'm 20 years older than when you've just started Concerta at age 29, long time ADHD have destroyed my life, I've been on it since last year. I'm now much better
It's amazing, isn't it? The calmness, and stillness and tranquility and quietness inside of your brain. And the fact that it ripples throughout your whole body and keeps every part of your body calm and, still, except for the organs that really need to be functioning when they need to.
I am on day 4. The hardest pill to swallow was realising that I lost 38 years of my life because I didn’t know I had ADHD. Even after being diagnosed I still thought mine was a mild case, until I took concerta. Oh boy, the improvement made me aware of all other hidden symptoms that I wasn’t aware off. How did I manage to survive this long I don’t know, but one is for sure, I am not going back to that pain. Concerta has opened up my life.
Hello, thank you for sharing! You are still quite young, I m 35 now :) Happy to hear about your positive experience! You were strong and resilient for surviving this long without any help :)
Yeah I always thought I had a mild case too, just mild enough to cause me troublesome patterns but not severe enough that I was non-functional. I even managed quite a lot on it and if it wasn't for some lack of confidence I'm sure I would have gone further. I turned down several excellent job opportunities because of lack of confidence. Sometimes I wonder which was my greater handicap, my ADHD or my lack of confidence in the workplace? It's hard for me to say right now. Also perhaps a thyroid issue??? Would have fatigue issues throughout the day although those would come and go. Very frustrating. Wonder how I will feel once I try one of these effective meds.
I am in my 20s and my life has been a mess for many years now. I've received many pointers from people to go to a specialist and I finally gave in. I'm gonna set up an appointment soon, and I will at least confirm if that's ADHD or maybe something else. Or maybe nothing. No matter what happens, I will walk out of there understanding myself a bit more, and if I do have ADHD, maybe medication will finally help me function like a normal human being.
I was just prescribed this today. I'm 42 years old. Just diagnosed today with ADD. I take my first one tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to being able to focus and actually finish projects for once without feeling like an idiot.
@@INFPownage It seems like these people that say they're about to take it are bots, because I have scrolled through the comment section and no one seems to answer.
This is so good to hear. I got my diagnosis this week at 29 after years of misdiagnosed depression and just being a total mess. Effectively I’ve lost four jobs because of my adhd and making terrible mistakes, financially I’ve only just become stable for the first time in a decade and I’ve lost countless friends because of being so irrational or horrible. Should be starting concerta in the next two weeks and I’m so excited to turn my life around and doing everything I know I can do
Hello Graham, your story sounds very similar to mine. I wish you good luck wiht the Concerta. This month is my 3 year anniversary with Concerta :) Hope it helps you! :)
We are part of the club who didn’t get diagnosed until adulthood. And it’s like we wish we knew years ago, and people think I’m on drugs too when I don’t take the adderall!!! Even when I take it they think I am! But I’m much worse when I don’t take it.
Don't even ask just try it for yourself the worst case scenario is that you will feel hyperstimulated, that's not something you cannot get over, so just take what I said into understanding, if you enjoy it too much it's a problem, if you feel like you have relief from your symptoms that you've been dealing with your whole life then it means your ADHD is definitely severe, ❤@
I just got diagnosed 2 weeks ago at 47 years old. My work life has generally been absolute hell because I would forget everything and I would always end up in conflict with people getting frustrated with me. 2015 I moved to Vietnam to teach English. Having creative freedom and having the space to be able to mess up once in a while was brilliant. However, after unintentionally moving up the ladder, I found myself in a manager position. It's been a real struggle, so many careless mistakes, forgetting stuff, but thankfully my boss is very supportive. After researching ways to improve my productivity and make my life more bearable it became clear that I had ADHD. I was not especially hyperactive as a kid so never thought I had it. I went to the Doctor, and he confirmed I have mild/moderate ADHD and prescribed me Concerta. I only took it on my days off because I did not want to have a panic attack at work. However, the last 4 days I've taken it at work and this video pretty much describes how my week has gone. I'm getting so much more done, calmly working through tasks in a logical order. One little thing that blew my mind was that my locker was so messy, full of random forms and bits of paper. I tidied it, but did not even think about tidying it; I just did it, no big deal like a normal person. I'm also much better at listening and having a conversation with my colleagues. I feel very hopeful, let me know if you have any questions, I would love to help people who have suffered with ADHD, because we're so misunderstood.
I am 23 years old and just got diagnosed with adhd. I was excellent in studies as a kid then all of a sudden my grades dropped and my health declined. I felt depressed in my teen years. Just got diagnosed with adhd and been recommended strattera. I hope it changes my life as it did to you guys.
Im from brazil, and started with concerta 18mg yesterday morning, when i woke up. I feel so much better, calm and not anxious. I’ve done so good school tests. Thank you for support about concerta, i Haven’t find good videos about that in Portuguese
I'm 25 and got diagnosed with ADD 2 weeks ago. I started with the short release version of methylfenidaat, but it wore off after 2 hours each time and the rebounds were annoying. I started with concerta since yesterday. Taking medication makes me feel like I can finally be myself. I worry less, am calmer, feel happier and have more energy.
Wow. My story is sort of similar. Recently I was diagnosed by my psychiatrist at age +-27. I was crushed and broken knowing that I was diagnosed so late and started using a generic drug to Concerta. It helps me way better being productive and being able to think linearly. Thank you for sharing this. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who went through this similar experience and diagnosed so late on life. Thank you.
Thanks for posting this it's been really inspiring....I tried many things before taking that route and it has changed my patterns tremendously...we must preserve there is a way....much blessings
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm starting on the smallest dose tomorrow morning. I haven't been officially diagnosed yet but my doctor felt it would help me in the meantime.
This is crazy, I’m 29 and it was my job errors that led to my diagnosis. I’ve always felt different but I never knew why. I start my medication tomorrow. Monday and I start my shift at 6am tomorrow haha it’s like listening to myself lmao!! I hope I get the same results, thank you for this video!
Thank you for this video Patrick, i have been resistant on taking concerta for years. Im 40 this year and i honestly relate with you when you say you life was a complete mess. I fee the same and i ave been looking at other solutions that could help, the way you tell your story i feel like that is 85% my story. Thank you so much man and i wish you achieve financial freedom or at least life fulfilment. You have changed my life
You are really inspiring. A lot of things about your ADHD and how medication helped , really resonates with me. Once I started taking, I noticed how my ADHD affected everything from how I walk down to how I talk and concerta gave me a version of myself to strive for even when Im off the medication
I had my first day on generic concerta last Friday and my anxiety on the meds is gone. I notice that I can’t take much caffeine and there’s a bit of a crash when it wares off but compared to how I’ve been feeling before it’s amazing.
Thanks for sharing this video. I also started methylphenidate too, just a week ago now. I've worried about having ADHD for more than three years (i am 21), but going into my college and working years I really started seeing the effects of it. All the sudden school wasn't easy and my grades were pretty bad except for a few classes I had genuine interest in. I dropped out partly because of grades, and partly for financial reasons. Working I've always been known as the forgetful type, and in other areas of my life I reached a point where I couldn't muster up the motivation to pursue even the hobbies and things I enjoy, such as music, or theological study (I am a Christian). Not to mention how much schedules were difficult for me too. Medication has helped me tremendously in spending time on the things I actually want to spend time on. It's helped calm me down instead of being overly impulsive. I was worried it would take away a part of me and just make me a working zombie with no ambitions, but even though it is calming for me, it hasn't had that effect I feared. I hope things are still going well for you, thanks
Hello JD! Wow thats amazing, thank you for sharing your experience. I can relate to your experience with Concerta. It also helps me impulsivity and has made me calmer. Things are going great in my life and lets hope they will :) I wish you luck with medication and that it will help you the same way it has helped me :)
It's wonderful that you are experiencing the very beautiful benefits as I been experiencing it since I was a freshman in high school. Loved it! Still do!
Hi Patrick regards from South Africa. Been on and off Neucon (generic of Concerta) for several years. I can completely relate in so many aspects. I couldn’t keep jobs and was failing some subjects and then since I’ve been on 54mg I scored the highest overall grade in our schools 10 year history! I couldn’t believe it. I now work contracts in hospitality and also have vacation time to relax my receptors because I’m on 54mg+27mg daily to overlap for long work days. I’m researching side effects and considering alternatives too. Look forward to following your journey !
Thats awesome to hear Jaco! I would love to have vacation so I could give my brain a good rest frpm medication. Recently I have been experimenting with ginkgo biloba but so far pretty disappointed...
Happy for you brother, it sucks not to get diagnosed earlier in life, but still better than not getting diagnosed at all. I know the struggles, you try 4 times harder than anyone else just to pass by
Hi Patrick, Your video was at the top of my feed here on UA-cam today and I’m so inspired by your success story! It’s an interesting coincidence that your video was the first one on the feed because today is my first on Concerta. I’m 36 and was officially diagnosed with ADHD last year and have struggled everyday since. Over the past year, I have had many failed attempts with meds and various supplements, but your story has given me hope and inspiration!! Thank you so much for being so open about your experiences! I wish you the best of luck!
Hello Santos, wow that awesome! UA-cam algorithm is very smart, it knows us, scary :) I am so glad that my story has been helpful in any way. :) I wish you the best with Concerta, hope it helps you like it did me. I wish you luck in other areas of life also :) Thank you for watching! :)
Thanks for making this video. I'm finally going to see the consultant specialist tomorrow and I am hoping that he will prescribe something like that. Its wreaking havoc with my work life and I just feel like a fraud all the time who will be found doing something embarrassing. To have the stillness you are describing would be incredible. This video really has given me hope that tomorrow could be the start of a new life for me.
Thank you for watching :) Good luck with consultant, hope you will get some relief like I did. Yeah I know what you are talking about... That is awesome, I m happy for that! I wish you the best luck! :)
Thank you for posting this video, Patrick. I was just diagnosed and was put on Concerta. It is really helpful to see this video because I had no idea what this medication was or what to expect. Am very grateful to you for sharing this, especially talking about your before and after situation. You experience has been a tremendous gift for us. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your experience Patrick! I can really relate to some stuff. I got diagnosed a year ago as an adult but I started my medication today as I couldn’t handle the struggle any longer.
Hi, thank you for this video. I am 3rd day into my concerta medication. It is life changing. I just got diagnosed at age 45. What u shared is exactly how i feel. God bless man. I am also so excited over my future.
I just started yesterday and wow! This is how a normal brain feels? I feel so calm and focused. Life seems easy! I have just taken 18 mg. I am not sure if I should increase the dose next week since I feel already good! So happy!!!!
Wow thats great to hear! I know the feeling! :) I did that also at the beginning: 18mg dose wow, then I would up my dose and up my dose. More is not always better, sometimes it can actually turn the other way. I have tried 18-72 mg dosages, after all the years I still prefer 18-36 mg dose :) If you decide to increase dosages I definitely would love to hear your experience with that :)
I'm so happy for you. I have a loved one who most probably has ADHD. We're going to the doctors next week to find out the answer. Fingers crossed a stable happy life awaits us all because its been too difficult on all of us. Best of luck to you. X
@@ADHDPatrick Hi Patrick hope you are well! I wanted to ask you how you are getting on with your medication now as it has been 6 months- have you noticed any side effects? Also do you take any vitamin tablets? I ready somewhere that Magnesium is a really important supplement to take alongside ADHD pills. Would love to know your thoughts! X
@@gigimonrose157 Hello Gigi, thank you! How are you? I have been using Concerta since summer of 2017, I havent had any big side effects. I have had trouble falling asleep if I took my dose too late during the day. Also Concerta increases my libido which is not good thing, lol. I take Magnesium before bed, also I take zinc, omega 3, D-vitamin, B complex and C-vitamin at times.
For me it was teachers who accused me of being on drugs at school. I was only about 14 at the time and it gave me massive trust issues wihh authority figures. I had to giggle with agreement when you said you realised quickly that two pills is not better! I sometimes forget if I've had it that day and prefer to risk missing one than double up although neither is ideal!
I had it since I was a kid.. I’m 29 and now I suffer from heavy depression I have memory loss too.. destroys your head and along the time you have to take bigger dossis because you get used to the drug… trust guys!! Just work hard and fail and fail again until you succeed but don’t take that shit please!
Yes, what it feels like to be normal. Priceless. I compare my brain with adhd as like a stick shift, very abrasive in order to function vs meds calm and smoother albeit sometimes a bit of anxiety.
I’m very sorry you went undisgnosed so long. That causes so many other comorbid conditions & rejections. It’s sucks. I too noticed a major difference on concerta. My main issue was my memory to the point I went to a psycologist I thought my husband was moving my keys & items around. Gaslightening me! My daughter told me this wasn’t true. On concerta I started remembering things that weren’t in my sight. That’s why my entire kitchen is in clear glass Pre diagnosis. I had to see it to remember. After concerta I remembered names everything! I also relate to the rapid movement speech you mention. On concerta I could talk more concise. Before concerta my mouth couldn’t keep up with how fast my brain was thinking. If I have a gap in medication or don’t take it that does come back with the insomnia. Crazy I thought as I got older I just needed less sleep. It goes to show as human we have to find explanations to things. My husband was not gaslightening me. I wasn’t non caring because I couldn’t remenber names. It was adhd. I wasn’t rude for interrupting. I was afraid I would forget if I didn’t blurt it out. You are correct concerta is a wonder drug. We both we late diagnosis Patrick. I was 42! The before & after is drastic. The only thing now is I’m playing catch up on yrs of papers & things I couldn’t get to. Decision making even small decisions can be hard for us. So it’s easy to hoard. My house is in order but my garage is horrifying. It’s hard to correct a lifetime living with deficits. But ThankGod we live in a time of great medicine. There is so much hope. Thanks for spreading awareness. I love your Channel Godbless you!
Wow thank you for sharing your story and experiene! Yeah so true, its great time to be alive when it comes to medicine :) Thank you and godbless you too! :)
its so weird how the symptoms of adhd are similar to what people without it experience when they take stimulants, despite stimulants being used to treat adhd.
Because they never learned to control it. People are born with ADHD. Their whole life is a journey to learn how to cope with it, rather than to cope with demands of others. ADHD is kinda similar to trauma induced dissociation. The mind wants to do so many things, but the body just cant do it. Once you go above a certain threshold, its the same for neurotypical people. Their mind wants to do all the (meaningless) stuff, but the body cant figure out how to do it in time. The difference is, people with ADHD want to do whats important and have learned how to transfer the hyperfocus to these parts of life, and people without ADHD have been doing what they were supposed to, and (subconsciously), want to do the meaningless little stuff. It takes a lifetime to learn the systems ADHD people develop to perform.
There is a explanation for this! People with adhd have lower dopamine and norepinephrine levels, so when they take medication they are at the point neurro typically people are at, when you have a lack of dopamine you do risky things to obtain it, you get pushed over the threshold when you’re neurotypical and take it therefor causing adhd like symptoms
Thank you for this video. I feel the same way on Concerta. I am so grateful for it everyday because I was in my 40’s before I got diagnosed and helped.
Just watched your whole video ! I’ll be a year next month on concerta and my one year anniversary of being diagnosed with ADHD. I’m 24 years old and I feel the exact same as you!! I cried the first time I took it because of the immense peace and calmness I felt and my brain slowed down so much. It has definitely made my life better and I now have a clear view of everything.
Happy to hear that Shay! Happy 1 year anniversary! :) Thats awesome that it has provided value in your life. Glad I am not the only one who has had great help from this amazing medication :)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I started taking 18mg of Concerta last week and felt exactly what you describe on my first day although it only lasted about 8 hours. I felt kind of robotic but it felt so good to have no anxiety and ability to finish tasks so quickly. The impulse to get up every few minutes disappeared. It was awesome! In my second week, the impulsive thoughts are back but not to the same degree. I still have more energy than I did before starting Concerta. Gonna talk to my doctor about increasing the dosage and hopefully I feel its effects again
You are not wrong brother, I've been practicing / fighting Muay Thai for 15 years along with Russian Systema , mindfulness meditation everything that's non-drug-related, and I was treated with medication when I was a kid and it worked phenomenally, but as an adult when I was untreated and took myself off of the medication I went down a deep dark hole, now I am arguing with my psychiatrist about my diagnosis that is on paper all the paperwork is in front of her and she's trying to throw me anti-psychotic and ssris / anti-depressants, I told her I've been on them my whole life they never did anything to me but make me numb and useless, I don't naturally depend on anything but at the same time ADHD is very serious and I'm glad you got your diagnosis brother just keep going don't let this thing not tear you down please❤
After 3 diagnosis of add once I was 7 then 14 and now 18 almost 19 I have finally decided to take ritalin. Im currently on 10mg soon 20, for approximately a week and I must say it helps me tremendously Im way more concentrated on my studies and calm and have only mild side effects! Well lets see what the future brings I will update this comment in a year or a half if I remember. Ps the text might be a bit unorganized because Im writing this without the influence of ritalin
Oh my god I got diagnosed at age 19 I’m 25 now. It is just not okay that people are getting diagnosed SO LATE IN LIFE. This is why I believe EVERY COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY, HIGH SCHOOL, around the world should be annually testing all students for mental health issues. IMAGINE how much could be prevented/treated? You can’t prevent/treat something you don’t even know exists. We are taught in health classes about our food and psychical health, (at least in USA) as if our brain is NOT part of our psychical health. It is so overlooked! And I believe it’s part of why there are so many school shootings in the USA, as well as suicides amongst teenagers/young adults. And the rise of drug addiction (U.S.A. being the worst in the world) is due to underlying mental health issues. This is why it’s so important for MENTAL HEALTH to be TREATED JUST IF NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN PSYCHICAL HEALTH starting at a YOUNG age.
Thank you for sharing. My son is 12 and was just diagnosed. He had anxiety and ODD because of ADHD. We tried so many natural things, but didn’t work. He started Concerta this week. And he says making decisions is easier for him already.
I'm very happy for you dude, and a little jealous. The experience you're describing is the experience I was praying for when I first took Concerta XL, and so far it hasn't affected me at all. I've been on it for a month now, taking 54mg daily, and all it does is make my elbows tingle. It's very frustrating, but I'm not giving up on treatment. I know there must be something out there that'll work for me.
Thank you Patrick. Just started taking Concerta a few days ago and already it is helping me. The way you described your life is very similar to mine. The doctor only prescribed 18mg I hope he decides to increase it for me as I feel the dosage is too low but maybe good to start at.
Hey BlinkFM, my doctor prescribed me from the very first beginning 18-72 mg a day. I started at 18mg but quickly started experimenting with different dosages. 18 mg is my usual dose 90 % of the time these days. I always see how is my day is and how do I feel. When I m studying alone at home, I can even take 72 mg dose to focus on my studies. Let me know what happens with your dosage and how it works out for you :)
ADHD Patrick do you take the 73 my one time or 36 on mornings and 36 mg on the afternoon, I am so happy for you and excuse me may I cannot explain very well because my English is not the best it’s my second language
Patrick just know that years later your story is still helping to inspire people including myself. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope to start an adhd med very soon and I hope to have a similar story to report soon. Oh and I'm 41. The unfortunate part is I did suspect ADHD all the way back in my 20s and I even started Vyvanse briefly. However I fell off of it quickly and I guess I never considered restarting. I can't remember why. I wouldn't say my life was unmanageable during this intervening period, but I would say I had difficulty getting and keeping it all together. I believe some of the reason was just bad luck, but some part was no doubt due to adhd. There was always something that seemed to prevent me from achieving longer-term stability with a job or school or both. I honestly don't know why it wasn't really just until this year and later last year I thought to get re-evaluated and consider medication. Actually, forget that, I did briefly in 2016 but fell off of it again and didn't not try to restart. And same thing, I can't remember why right now. I don't have as much the hyperactivity aspect, altho I do have a very busy mind but it's tolerable, but my main handicaps are distractibility, lack of follow through, endless procrastination, time management, focus problems, tackling clutter, seeking work, delaying gratification, and sustaining concentration over longer periods of time. Have used natural supplements to some positive effect but I am now certain that I need a formulated stimulant to really make deeper changes. I actually have a final goal of undergoing neurofeedback I'm hopes of being ADHD-free forever, but in order to pay for it I need to be able to work steadily and in order to do that, at this point in my life at least, I need some external support. Otherwise I'm sure I would have done so already but I can't seem to bring myself to make it happen. I will try to remember this comment and report back in six months with hopefully just as positive a progress report to share.
Hello Capybara, thank you for sharing your story! Also thank you for your kind words! I can relate to you, I have struggled with these issues myself. Stimulant might give you some relief if you want to try it again. Neurofeedback sounds very interesting. I wish you luck and let us know about your progress :)
I'm 31 years old and just got my diagnosis. I have been diagnosed with the "severe dysfunction". All my life has been a fucking huge shit show, a fucking mess. And last year I hit the hard wall, I got a neurological dysfunction from being such a mess, it was triggered by extreme levels of anxiety, restlessness and panic.. I thought I was a danger to myself, but when I hit that wall, I was sure I was a danger to myself. I always felt like an impostor. I always thought I would never be worth a job or having a stable life or stable relationships. I got diagnosed with General anxiety disorder, panic disorder and OCD. But I did know this wasn't the whole story. I always felt, since I was very young that there was something very very different with me, I was mocked and shamed for my "careless mistakes", I was called "the tourist" in school and university ... I can't believe I've finally found the root issue. ADHD had been creeping behind my back all my life, it was pushing me into compulsive and obsessive behaviours as well as addictions all my life, it had made me feel so ashamed for being called "careless, distracted and irresponsible" all my life. I'm more then welcoming any medication that may help me with this. This is already life changing for me and a huge relief. PS: I'm still laughing at "I was a cartoon carachter XDDD !!" , that's basically who I am, someone you can just observe and laugh at!
Hello Erick, thank you for sharing your story! Anxiety sucks so much I know, I had it all my life. Anxiety is a devil that is hard to beat. I can relate to you feeling different, I thought I was just dumb/crazy or both. That sucks that you were mocked and shamed! I wish you the best luck, I m sure it will get better for you now :) Hahaha yeah I cartoon charecter, story of my life! Well atleast we are entertaining :)
@@ADHDPatrick hey bro thanks!!! And yeah like you, most of my life I've been laughed at, fortunately I could prove my worth in other ways (school and art). And definitely agree, at least we're funny haha 🙌
Good to here it worked out well for you. I noticed it helped a lot for me until it started giving me severe depression/irritability after it wore off and made it difficult to sleep. Maybe it works much better for hyperactive/combined type adhd. (Kind of strange to me that they lump ADD and ADHD together now) I noticed the stimulant type medications seem to work very well for most people.
Yeah its like this with many medications, dont work for everyone. Of cource the dosage plays huge role. Strattera I heard is good and it is different kind of medication for ADHHD than regular stimulants.
Bro - 9 months and I only see your Video now. A also am in logistics, mostly warehousing. I have got an referral for a psychiatrist. When I go I will finally know. As a child I was diagnosed ADD, but parents thought I would grow out of it. I thought I was normal, turns out there is a high possibility this is not the case. I'm tired of failing at things and people asking me "Dude what is wrong with you" or " That is so simple, how could you make a mistake", I dont want to lose my job over this.
I was diagnosed with ADHD just before New Years so I started taking Concerta a month ago in the 18mg dose and it had no noticeable effect on me. So now I’m starting the 27mg dose today for the next two weeks. My doctor say it will likely be underdosed as I had no effect with 18mg. Anyways I really hope I will work for me once I get the correct dose. Hopefully I get as good results as you
@@Aliyahxx1 It didn't do anything for me. I kept raising the dose about every 3 weeks and all I got was a raised heart rate that was too high. Mostly the same for several other types of meds. I did for a moment find one that seemed to have positive effects, but it again rose my heart rate too high. I don't know why meds haven't worked for me... Could be my metabolism doesn't process it well, idk.
Happy to know that it worked for you, started taking concerta 2 days ago, i don't think it's functioning perfectly, but they say you gotta wait about 4 days for it to work on optimal level, all in all i experienced only positive things from it, but after few hours it doesn't work as affectivally as the first 5 hours, idk why.
The medication steadily builds up, the first hours are best, studies show that concerta peaks at 4 hrs, then goes down. That is why I never take whole dose at once but I monitor my intake through the day. Good luck with medication Rana! :)
@@ADHDPatrick the thing is i got prescribed one pill. so i can't split it, i don't know if i need to take one more throughout the day, but i can't do anything before talking to my doctor, thanks for replying.
@Erim Ozata I understand that, I also had my issues in my early twenties. Concerta has very high abuse potential, have to be very careful with it. Glad that strattera is working for you! I have never tried ot myself
Thanks for your story. I agree with it. Use Ritalin for the workdays at home and Concerta for at the office. Im 34 but have -not yet- my diagnose. They think Asperger and maby ADHD. This medication is my best friend since 4 weeks. Focus, my head is calm, i go outsite, talk and meet people, house is clean and so much more. Nice weekend
@@ADHDPatrick i figure it out what levels me. Im overweight maby its part of the deal ? But i have 3x 10mg in the morning , later that Day also 3 and sometimes i take in the evening too. If im in the good work flow and want things done . Ritalin kicks fast in , in 10 a 15min and hold for 4 maby at least 5 hours. I like the feeling of stimulate kind or energy (drugs rush) with a calm zen brain feeling. Hope you understand what i want to say. I have Concerta 36mg but not tested. So I can say adderall changed my life by switching to xr version for the morning and and immediate in afternoon (if needed) it got me out of bed and helped with my depression but now I’m like falling back to where I don’t want to be.
They keep saying its a mood and anxiety disorder. They wont listen when I tell them WHY I have a mood and anxiety disorder. . . .I guess because they know everything.@@ADHDPatrick
I'm thinking of starting vyvanse. I took it from 10-22 I am now 30 I got off because I was terrified and still am terrified of it's long term effects. Especially nervous about getting a heart attack. However I really need it. I don't know what to do
Hello Maria, I have never used vyvanse myself but heard positive things about it. I know how you feel, many times I also wondered about long term issues especially with heart. That is why I try to stay on low dose and live as healthy as possible. I also weigh pros and cons of using the medication, right now using medication has far more pros than cons in this period of my life. I started using medication because I felt desperate and it helped me at that period of my life. So ask yourself how much do you need it in your life, how much easier your daily life is using medication and how much harder it is not using the medication
Hi I m San 34. I too have poor condition, poor memory, forgetting things carelessness. Actually it happened me on my age of 15 at my 10th grade exam studies. Suddenly I forgot everything, try keep studying but unable to focus, thoughts interrupt me. I cry the whole night and attend exam results very poor mark. Also I lost my friends circle because of not concentrate when they talk to me. If they said some incident from past I unable to remember that but I try to remember then I failed. Then I met psychiatrist they prescribed antidepressants sertralin tablets and sleeping tabs but it only control my anxiety and depression but my actual problem remains... I took antidepressants for 20 years... But now only I know about add and adhd. Guy like u sharing your post of having medication is gives hope me... But I have not consult any Dr yet ...
Hello San, sorry to hear that, thank you for sharing your story! I know how its like when its hard to concentrate. Sertralin like most antidepressant work on serotonin so it doesnt really do anything for ADHD, it can calm you down and reduce anxiety. I started with antidepressants too, but I have been happy with ADHD medication. Definitely tell your doctor and explain your situation and things you have to deal with it. I hope you get a good doctor who will understand you.
I’ve been trying to put this exact thing into words… “Stable” is the word that jumps out. I’ve only been on the medication for 30 days, but the difference is exactly how you described.. I’m just curious as to why you mentioned that you quit taking it bc you were dating someone? Was that just a personal choice bc you were happy? Or was it due to an undesired side effect? Thanks for the video man… It’s tough to talk about this stuff with others, I have a hell of a time doing so. Seeing this helped me with some great words I’ve been searching for. Best of luck you you in the future my friend!
Hey, wow thats awesome man! I tried to be without medication for very short while just to see if I can manage my ADHD. Also the medication made me little robotic which was not good for relationship at times, I was "not too fun to be around", lol. Since then I lowered to my dose to 18-36 mg which is sweet spot for me :) Yeah I know the feeling. Happy to hear that! I wish you best luck too! :)
I live in Jordan , and i had a telepsychaitry , from a doctor who lives in USA . However , I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety and ADD 7 weeks ago . I have been taking zoloft to calm me down because I have a bad burn out and overthinking and self esteem struggles . Im better now but i still have a bad organization and knowing that im an Arab , i am still live with my family and they always blame me for lack of concentration . I have a question , did you suffer from not being able to understand maths very quickly ? I remember struggling and being very slow at solving problems . Im also a hard worker but I have never get high grades at UJ . I also failed on one subject I studied the most and unfortunately repeating the year for .
Hello Yossor, glad that you are feeling better now. Math was always a big problem for me, it was extremely hard for me to focus and maintain patience with it. Solving problems definitely always took more time.
I notice you have a guitar. I find the guitar is therapeutic, it wastes no time telling me when I am not concentrating. But I try so hard to concentrate, but then I am trying so hard to not care about concentrating. Just let it flow I say to myself. I try to play, but my mind won't just shut the helll up! So, I can't just play it OK all the time, one day it's like wearing boxing gloves, next day I feel like Dave Mustaine. But, all the time I feel, boy! I am playing really well now, and as soon as I think that, my muscles stiffen up because I am worried about making a mistake, and those thoughts impede me. My brain knows my concentration just suddenly vanished, and here I am, years of playing and I still sound like an amateur, but I know I can play well, I have for short periods of time. 7 years Bupropion (Wellbutrin) I like it, but going Concerta real soon, looking forward to it.
Hello Sekov, playing music in general can be very therapeutic. I know the feeling about you are talking about. I used to get it in the flow by playing my favorite riffs, after a while I would forget everything and just be in the flow. This though would not last long time. My biggest problem was playing with other people, I could not get in the rhytm, lol I used wellbutrin myself for short time but did not get feel any benefits. Good luck with Concerta! :)
thats unfortunate, you never know with these medication how they affect us. Concerta usually dehydrates me so I get dry skin, I drink lots of water everyday and rinse my face with cold water.
I have hope after watching your video! I'm on my second month of Concerta just started on 36mg. I'm noticing a difference I feel alot calmer but will need to go up in dose.
I disagree. You must take days off to not build a tolerance that is why you start noticing the effects less. I take 2 days off on the weekends and It helps reset your nervous system so you dont build a tolerance. I have tried Cocnerta and Adderall and Concerta is the best option for me
@@peglegbabydoll Before you read this keep in mind I’m not a Dr. Speak with your psychiatrist before making changes to your routine Technically speaking nothing will happen if you dont take 1,2 or 3 days off at a time. There’s no adverse effect from stopping the medication abruptly. Personally, I take 2 days(in a row) off per week This prevents me from building a tolerance and staying at 27mg. If you take the medicine daily you WILL build a tolerance and eventually need to increase the dose however higher doses of stimulants are very toxic for the brain.
@@norabracamonte4814 Good luck to you too, I have been taking it for this is the 4th day I'm taking it and I think I fill different. But sometimes I have a fast heartbeat, but nothing much. Hope it suits you and don't take more pills than the doctor says🙂
Hello, most usual side effects are high blood pressure, sleep problems, anxiety. I have made a video about this: ua-cam.com/video/EoFg-hWQ-7A/v-deo.html I would be lying if I said that my body has not gotten used to medication, I have been taking it 3 years now. Surprisingly I use small dose 18-36 mg, so my tolerance is not super high otherwise I would be taking 72mg now. Some people have reported that Concerta does not work so well anymore after using it long periods of time. I try to take 1-2 days off when its possible from Concerta, it is not much but I think it helps a little. My ideal situation would be to take 2-4 weeks off every year like during summer vacation. Overall I m satisfied with medication, the benefits outweigh the negative.
Hey patrick im almost 14 and i started concerta yesterday i use 36mg and i felt the same way you did like being relaxed but during the night i was really depressed and i started feeling my own heart beat sometimes and I thought I was going to die do you know what i should do
Hello! I definitely recommend seeing your doctor or other professional about this situation. I am not a doctor so I cannot give you counseling on this kind of matter. I wish you luck :)
Brother did your body build a tolerance for concerta trough time? At first you took pills of 18mg than 36 than... to 54 or what? And how much did you increase the dosage each time you felt that the medication is not working?
Hey brother :) Yeah it actually did, one time I was even taking 72 mg, because I felt lower dose was not enough. I fixed this issue by taking small breaks from medication like 1-2 days a week, once a while I took longer breaks like 1 week. Recently I took 2 weeks off from Concerta, after that I feel that my tolerance lowered a lot, 36 mg now feels even too much sometimes.
I have i session again in a couple of weeks with the psykiatrist. Guess she well know by then. This is new to me. Guess i cannot choose my self between the different meds like ritalin, concerta etc (?)
More videos about Concerta :)

‘ i could never imagine living a life ‘ I FEEL YOUUU
I knew I had ADD forever but for some reason my doctor of the time never took me seriously.
I can now work and study properly, I feel like I’ve been blind for years and now I got glasses on and I can SEE ( hope that makes sense 😅 )
I wish to stay on Concerta , my only advice is keep the dose as low as possible so you avoid building a high tolerance.

That sounds like a dream!

I started to take Methylphenidate. Never felt so calm in my entire life. After years of struggle, I finally see the light ahead of me!
Wow Great to hear that Mikolaj! I know the feeling! :) Good luck! :)
Which dose?
Thank you for your story. My son has obvious adhd but its very complicated for him to have a disgnosis in Sweden. It breaks my heart
I'm sure he has some special creative power advantages, and he has a dad who loves him dearly.

You are really inspiring. A lot of things about your ADHD and how medication helped , really resonates with me. Once I started taking, I noticed how my ADHD affected everything from how I walk down to how I talk and concerta gave me a version of myself to strive for even when Im off the medication
Hello, thank you so much! :) That is great to hear, I am not the only one who experienced this :)
I had my first day on generic concerta last Friday and my anxiety on the meds is gone. I notice that I can’t take much caffeine and there’s a bit of a crash when it wares off but compared to how I’ve been feeling before it’s amazing.
Wow that is fantastic! Its so strange that stimulant medication can take anxiety away, but it can! It helped me a lot and made more calm. Congrats cg!
Thank you for sharing your experience Patrick! I can really relate to some stuff. I got diagnosed a year ago as an adult but I started my medication today as I couldn’t handle the struggle any longer.
Thank you for watching! :) I wish you luck on your journey! :)
Thank you for helping us I am 45 and still trying to get help this gives me hope :)
Thank you Barry! Glad somebody gets some value from this :)
Starting tomorrow and you guys are giving me hope 🙏 ❤
Good luck :)
Hi, thank you for this video. I am 3rd day into my concerta medication. It is life changing. I just got diagnosed at age 45. What u shared is exactly how i feel. God bless man. I am also so excited over my future.
Hello Desmond, wow awesome man! Thank you for sharing! :) Wish you the best :)
Thank you Gigi for your kind words ! Best luck you too! I hope everything will will work out wish you happiness! :)
@@ADHDPatrick Thankyou Patrick for replying and helping those of us that need answers!!! :) X
Thank you Ritch for sharing your thoughts, yeah I have my own trust issues with authority too...
Hello Alexagrace, thank you for watching! Glad to hear about your positive experience :)
Thank you so much for posting this. I’m soooooo happy or you. I take this soon and I was nervous but now I’m not.!!!
Hello CJ, thank you for watching, means a lot to me! :) I wish you luck and all the best! :)
Thank you very much for sharing!!! Best of luck to you.
Thank you! Best luck to you too! :)
Wow that is awesome! Glad it works for you! Wish you good luck!
Great video man thanks for sharing and educating others
Well said! So much could be prevented if we also paid attention to mental aspects in our life instead of just physical. Maybe someday...
Thank you for sharing your experience

Wow! Thats good that medication is working. What dose is he using?
ADHD Patrick 18 mg.
Thank you for this video! Changing from Vyvanse to Concerta 36 !!
Thank you for watching and good luck! :)
Hello, thats strange, dose like 54 mg dont affect you. Consult your doctor, maybe they will switch medication..
@@ADHDPatrick Funny you should say that, after writing that comment I emailed my nurse and now she's put me on Vyvanse instead. Finger's crossed! 🤞
@@peacemaster8117 wow thats awesome! Good luck!
@@ADHDPatrick Thanks again Patrick. I find your videos very informative. I have subbed and look forward to more.

Its the financial freedom aspect that hit me hard.
Hey Baliw! I feel you! Good luck with psychiatrist bro! I almost lost my job because I was messing up so often...
Hopefully I get as good results as you
Lets keep our fingers crossed! I really hope you get some positive results with Concerta! :)
how did you find 27mg of concerta?
@@Aliyahxx1 It didn't do anything for me. I kept raising the dose about every 3 weeks and all I got was a raised heart rate that was too high. Mostly the same for several other types of meds. I did for a moment find one that seemed to have positive effects, but it again rose my heart rate too high. I don't know why meds haven't worked for me...

Yeah I'm pretty desperate. You started on 18 mg rite ?

I’ve only been on the medication for 30 days, but the difference is exactly how you described..

I feel weird because I get quieter than usual. My adhd self was my personality.

@@ADHDPatrick Wellbutrin is great for me, but I suspect it's giving me skin issues.

Thank you Dana! :) That is great news, I myself keep my dose at 18-36 mg these days :)
I disagree. You must take days off to not build a tolerance that is why you start noticing the effects less. I take 2 days off on the weekends and It helps reset your nervous system so you dont build a tolerance. I have tried Cocnerta and Adderall and Concerta is the best option for me
@@d2xr my psychiatrist said not to take days off and it has a warning label on the bottle "do not stop taking this medicine"
@@peglegbabydoll
Before you read this keep in mind I’m not a Dr.
Speak with your psychiatrist before making changes to your routine
Technically speaking nothing will happen if you dont take 1,2 or 3 days off at a time.

Long John are u still taking it and how many mg ?
What are the negative side effects... does your body become used to it and then eventually it doesn’t work as well?
Hello, most usual side effects are high blood pressure, sleep problems, anxiety. I have made a video about this: ua-cam.com/video/EoFg-hWQ-7A/v-deo.html
I would be lying if I said that my body has not gotten used to medication, I have been taking it 3 years now.

I Wish you luck Benjamin! :)
Amazing video bro! What dose do you take and is it instant release or extended?
Hey Liam, thank you so much! I take 18-36 mg and its extended :)
I have made a video about dosage issue: ua-cam.com/video/_wIgu0mWJFY/v-deo.html
@@ADHDPatrick thanks mate 🙏
The combination of Concerta and Ginger Ale is pretty good
hmm might try this, thanks for the tip!
@@ADHDPatrick You can drink Concerta with water and then ginger ale. Ginger ale should be low in sugar.
@@妖夢-k4c I will definitely try this! :)
@@ADHDPatrick Thank you
why this is good combination? explain please..thank you
Hey patrick im almost 14 and i started concerta yesterday i use 36mg and i felt the same way you did like being relaxed but during the night i was really depressed and i started feeling my own heart beat sometimes and I thought I was going to die do you know what i should do
Hello! I definitely recommend seeing your doctor or other professional about this situation. I am not a doctor so I cannot give you counseling on this kind of matter. I wish you luck :)
@@ADHDPatrick Thanks
Hope it gets better for you
Brother did your body build a tolerance for concerta trough time? At first you took pills of 18mg than 36 than... to 54 or what? And how much did you increase the dosage each time you felt that the medication is not working?
Hey brother :) Yeah it actually did, one time I was even taking 72 mg, because I felt lower dose was not enough. I fixed this issue by taking small breaks from medication like 1-2 days a week, once a while I took longer breaks like 1 week. Recently I took 2 weeks off from Concerta, after that I feel that my tolerance lowered a lot, 36 mg now feels even too much sometimes.
@@ADHDPatrick thank you man appreciate it!
Glad to hear!
thank you Stefan :)
Im soon to put on medication. (First time)
