  • This is a zoom interview with Korean War veteran, Mr. Larry Kinard. Mr. Kinard was a 1st Lieutenant with the 3rd Infantry Division of the US Army serving as a forward artillery observer during the Korean War in 1952. When he arrived in Korea, he was first attached to the 1st ROK Division and helped South Korean soldiers by directing artillery fire against the enemy. He speaks about a harrowing ordeal when they made an assault on the enemy by crossing the Imjin River in the dark of night. When Mr. Kinard returned from the Korean War, he worked at various positions in power plants across Texas. After retirement, he served as National Chairman of the Tell America program to ensure that younger generations understand the significance of the Korean War, that America did good in saving South Korea from communism and defending the freedoms of the Korean people. Mr Kinard also served as the President of National Korean War Veteran Association and has dedicated his life to ensuring that all Korean War Veterans are proud of their service and understand the great legacy. Mr Kinard says that the Korean War is not the forgotten war, but rather a forgotten victory. South Korea was saved and is a free and prosperous nation because of the service and sacrifice of our Korean War veterans and Korean War fallen heroes. I am so grateful to Mr Kinard and to all who sacrificed so much to give life and freedoms to me and to millions of Koreans. May God always bless our Korean War veterans. Their courage and sacrifices will never be forgotten. Susan Kee's Facebook page honoring Korean War veterans at: / susankeewriter
