Thanks for the review! Just bought a Suzuki 9.9 extra long shaft (25”) for my 23’ sailboat with a 1200-lb keel. Moving from a small lake in PA to the Delaware Bay and wanted something new, reliable, and had enough oomph to deal with tidal currents. Was considering a 9.9 Honda, but liked the idea of having EFI for fast/reliable starts on the open water switching from sails to motor power. Sometimes that change is needed quickly if dark clouds are rolling in!
Great Engine! Suzuki is making a name for themselves from small Outboards to the Big Outboards! One of the most reliable motors on the market. If I ever repower my Mercury 115 4 stroke I will change to a Suzuki. Great video Kyle!
Thanks Jon! Before I bought this, I did a lot of research. Came across a review from a marine mechanic in Florida and he said if a customer who does his own maintenance buys a Suzuki he’s never going to see that motor again. That was pretty convincing! 👍
I know many get increase in power with that, but the ecu change is necessary to get the full increase to 20 hp. There aren't many warranty claims on these outboards!
Thanks for taking the time to make this! I'm still looking at Mercury and Suzuki for a 20hp but your review might have tipped the scale👍
You bet!! Love my zuk! 👍

Great testing and review! What a great motor and good idea to double the horsepower! Thank you for sharing brother!
Thanks for watching brother! Appreciate your support! 👍
Have you upgraded your 9.9 Suzuki with a 20 hp conversion? I would like to chat with you about this.
@@Pops.ontheroad yes, there is a video on my channel about it.
You could convert that to a 20 hp by replacing the restrictor plate and the ECU.
The engines are the same. However, it will void the 5 year warranty.😊

I have another video about doing the full conversion to 20 hp. It has already been done!
@@Dark30OutdoorsI couldn’t find the conversion video…
Do you have a control on it
@@mattwoody1089 no I don’t
Hey Kyle, I'm glad that the motor has been fantastic. 9.9/10 is a great rating.
@@DCOutdoors thank you Dan! 👍
Has the valves been adjusted? If so did you do it?
The upgrade to 20 hp would be excellent
@@RaymondPexton already done, and I have a video on it! 👍
Those definitely are great motors.. everyone I know loves them
Thanks! I certainly do love mine!
Sounds like a winner 👍
Thanks Dave! 👍
A lot of saltwater guides use the Suzuki motors they love them
Yes, they are very popular on saltwater! 👍
