So there are two main 'brain retraining' thoughts out there right - 1. The 'somatic ' way which says I acknowledge the sensation but I am not reacting I am not afraid and 2. The "Stop" practice, where you tell your brain to Stop. They are quite different in approach but the intention is to calm the fear response. I read Alan G's book...he says when you do not have pain "do what you love" but that does not work for me. I go and garden for 5 minutes and next day pain is up there. There still has to be gentle graded exposure right to activity ?

Mmm you are not referring to long term chronic pain here that's going on more than 6-12mths. I get what you are saying but I know what chronic pain is like all my life and researched for years. These solutions are short term coping mechanisms and very familiar with them but in my experience, doesn't change anything long term.

I had chronic issues for several years. Practicing these techniques nearly eliminated the pain within a couple months. In my case it absolutely can work for long term pain. The first step is believing it will work.

In our experience, it can be effective regardless of how long someone has had chronic pain. On our channel we highlight the story of Bonnie Lester, who had CRPS (whole body) for 30 years. She created her own neuroplasticity training routine and is now completely pain free. Wishing you all the best!

That's pain from biomechanical and compensation so I would suggest talking to a podiatrist how to minimise that along with this.

100%! Your body healed. Your existing pain is likely learned pain by the brain.

It’s causing suicidal thoughts 😢 I can’t and have sleep problems due to this head tension my eyes feel so tense I can’t smile normally
    I’m desperate

Firstly, I hear / feel you on how debilitating pain, especially in the head can be and understandable it is causing suicidal thoughts. Please talk to a professional about this for support because you need it. Make sure to find someone who is non judgemental and most importantly, understands the effects of pain. Ask around for references, word of mouth is the best.
Has it been fully investigated medically? Have you had any severe accident in the past few years that could have effected your neck or spine?
I don't know if this will resonate I had a client with unspecified facial neuralgia and she had told by doctors on the first flare it was viral. She came to me with shoulder pain which she believed was from her job as a dressmaker, specifically alerting wedding dresses. We noticed a pattern which the neuralgia increased each time I would start work on her thoracic spine and I could 'switch it off' by doing a move on her coccyx to balance her vagus nerve..... I sent her back to get an MRI and sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed, she had a crushed disc in her mid thoracic (between the shoulder blades) probably from a car crash years ago. The build up from scaring was effecting the nerves. Her body immobilised the area to minimise this but that caused pain in her shoulders because of the restrictions. We can think we get away with accidents but scar tissue builds and when on the spine, it can tether to nerves.
If you think there is something in your medical history that might have caused injury around the spine, talk to your doctor about it. If medication isn't clearing it, there could be something else keeping it going from years of seeing people in my practice. These techniques in the video will help manage it also. The main therapy I did was Bowen technique, maybe you can find someone locally who does this. It's really safe, why I choose to start with this one but please check references for anyone before you go to them. Don't let them 'crack' anything and tell them to stop if you feel uncomfortable. I hope there's something useful in that for you. Mind yourself and above all, be kind to yourself 🙏🏻

I had severe TMJ and pain behind eyes. This channel has an eye yoga exercise that helps, but cranial sacral adjustments are what got me out of pain.

Sorry but no amount of central sensitization can help horrific spinal conditions that are rare…I doubt you guys have had pain levels where you are writhing on the floor screaming.
