The sniper video we keep referencing is coming out next week. I just really liked this video so I uploaded it first! - Eric
Fire potato
Can confirm: Alfonse runs like a banshee and puts himself in hellish situations.
Alfonse is a trouble magnet lmao (but I still love him)
On Discord we were talking about people adding hitmarks where no BB actually hit.
It happens a lot on AEG gameplay, in 5 shots only 1 or 2 hits but the guy adds 5 marks.
Example: Bad guy goes running from right to left of the screen... crazy good youtuber shoots 5 shots, the first 2 shots are not even close however hitmarker comes up even before the BBs have time to travel to target. Shot number 3 comes close but no contact. Shot 4 is on the backpack so bad guy MIGHT not feel lit. Shot 5 hits him and he calls the shot.
In 3 of those shots he is a cheater... in 1 of those he MIGHT be... in the last 1 he calls hit.
So, in 4 out of 5 shots he is painted as un-ethical airsofter. All the while the person who did wrong (youtuber) actually gets all the praise for being soooo good and god-like.
And worst part is: 80% of UA-camrs do it... it sucks :/
I see it in pistol gameplay quite a bit more (Novristch mainly). They kinda go crazy with the amount of shots they fire, while not aiming down the sights, at 40-100 foot range when those BBs obviously would not have hit (and in most cases hit markers are added before the BB even gets there).
Very good observation. I notice that a lot but it's never talked about.
Watched a video a few days ago where the guy had to remove his hitmarkers and show something in slomo to call someone a cheater and lo and behold... half of his hitmarker where bullshit.
silo entertainment puts hit markers on walls
New airsoft "youtuber" here, you are 100% correct, an experienced airsoft player watching those videos will know basically know which shots are actually hitting. This doesn't matter honestly because its entertainment BUT when they title the video "AiRsOfT cHeAtEr" that's when I think its a problem (cheater videos are scum btw) otherwise if its just an open play and if the guy obviously gets hit by at least 1 bb but the youtuber adds like 6 hit markers, I really don't mind.
I'm going for a more wholesome approach with gameplay. I add hit SOUNDS, people can watch in super slow mo and I'll painstakingly go frame by frame to be 100% sure my bb is making contact. If I have any doubt I will just leave out the sound. I think it's important to have hit markers or sounds and adds a tiny bit more to videos but has to be done well.
#truth - Editing 6-8 hrs of gameplay can easily take me 2x the hours to edit it together into a halfway decent 12 minute video! It's work. However, we show all our fails, deaths, etc, because sometimes those are just as entertaining as a savage kill run. Rushing out, dying straight off, or over and over and laughing about it, falling on your ar$e, is all part of the experience imho. Then again, if those arcade style videos get people excited to come out and play more, that's a good thing. 😎
SaltyOldGamer you’ve got great videos. Subscribed a while back and enjoy seeing the notifications when you drop a fresh one.
101% agree! Editing and releasing a video takes as much time as shooting it. I always say that for every minute of video released there's an hour of work...
Ah-men Brother.
I've been watching you guys for a while now and the brutal honesty is always refreshing especially for a topic like this. You always get newer players or even older players who expect so much more when usually it may not be the case. I've never been to a milisim game before but honestly I'm more interested in the bush craft, patrolling\ scouting, and prep instead of all the action that happens during these games. Great video guys, keep doing that good shit
Thanks for saying this. FPS UA-camrs make a false interpretation of what airsoft is. Camera 1 on my gun, camera 2 on my helmet, and camera 3 on my gun looking at my face. Ugh. Too much
Try 3 person videos such as the ones from Scoutthedoggie, Ballahack Airsoft or even our own. They give a very different perspective...
Basically don't start with airsoft based off of gameplay videos. You WILL be dissapointed...
This video needed to be made, I'll be using it to reference to others to educate them if this topic comes up, or if they're getting into airsoft. - Bravo!
As someone that records, can agree that running a camera changes how you play, it makes you take into account on whether or not youre gonna hit a room, how you move, etc. At least for me, it's not so much playing to get "clips" every chance you get, it can be to go back and rewatch a breach or teamwork, heck even watching myself screw up and miss security or a corner is something I do.
I would love to see a milsim op where all of the footage regardless of how boring it is gets uploaded. As well as the highlights.
I'd rather have it broadcast live!
Totally agree that Gameplay videos are very hard work to edit and make work. I run a GoPro for site reviews and that’s about it.
Very informative especially for me as a fan to hear about your reasons for not recording gameplays. Wondered about that for a long time. However, playing most weekends I know what I'm viewing when looking at gameplays. I personally don't mind looking at highlights or the 1%. For me that sums up my experience on the field: the best moments shared online. Heck I only remember the 1% of my games. It's some of the thrill while sitting comfortably gearing up for the next game. Nothing wrong with people trying to show off their best moments. Faking it is just very lame but I get that they try to pay the bills at the expense of the sport/hobby
Oooooo he said Cleanshots name . Fighting words. Lol. Great video. Gameplay video is definitely time consuming to create
RE : Airsoft Alphonse getting into those crazy situation -
I refer to those moments as -
"Plan Stupid"
Great discussion! I believe that by simply editing what you have recorded you create some sort of "version" of reality. This is because when you edit your videos you create a narrative of what you want the video to be or what you want your viewers to experience in or with that story you're telling. The key is - most likely - to blur the line between real and fake to make the video more believable. Regards from Argentina
Eric said Milsim West and did not drink from his pint. Judy will not be amused. Very good Video as always :)
The way I view running a GoPro is the cost of the camera + extra battery + sd cards + Contour(Extra Weight) + time editing = A crappy time. Plus why spend all that cash on filming equipment when I could've bought 2 or 3 more guns or pieces of gear. And I suck so yeah screw making gameplay videos.
awesome that you guys have been pumping out videos lately!
having met cleanshot personally, i wasnt to surprised when his sensationalized . fake vids started coming out. he wasnt negative in any way, but he was quite impersonal. just there to get the video, only business. very flat. but he is dutch so thats kinda their thing.
About cheatervids: im on a personal crusade to not watch them and just downvote them everytime i come across them. They make the airsoft community look bad and i can't stand them discrediting an entire sport for money essentially.
u sound like a pussy lmfao
Good video. I do wish more people would include more of the downtime stuff in their videos during larger weekend events. It really brings in nice context in my opinion - its also nice when they include the map layout also so that you can see a better orientation of what actually might be going on, and it lets your mind wonder what you may have done in those situations. Overall i find them educational when done well. Same to you guys - always very insightful with these rant videos. Big love
@FOVAirsoft has a good perspective on how it actually goes. He doesnt cut away moments he got hit etc, and it is still entertaining
I agree!! Here in Brazil there is a lot of that. There are players who get the best moments of the future and edit before the past and become a lie. I even participated in a game and then watched the gameplay and it seemed like a movie trailer of so much editing ...
This is true for all social media.
This is actually why I try to keep my videos unedited as much as I can since when I got into the sport I watched videos and thought dam that's awesome but then I got out there and was not prepared because I didn't know what I was getting into still loved it but I wasn't ready for it and I want anyone who's new that watches to get a honest reality of what to expect if I suck I suck so be it....still love watching those videos tho
Tbh I play weekly and I can say the " amazing " action is very rare , while some days are better then others but very very uncommon to see these people make these plays and alot of the time these video are set up all the time
very likely
What proof do you have that videos are set up all of the time?
You nailed it 100%
I try to post as raw footage as possible to show everything I experience whether good or bad.
You've played with me a bunch before at RCA Eric, I can agree with what he said about people wanting to speedsoft more for the constant "high" of getting "kills" can get you. For me personally every hit I can achieve is a instant gratification for me. Every building I can move up makes me feel like I am making a massive impact, where as yes I could just hold the previous building and probably do the same exact thing but it just is not satisfying to me.
Im not dissing people who play either way, but to me I cant see how just slowly moving around on a field day is entertaining. I can see where that comes in on a Milsim game, but to me Milsims are more niche just like Speedqb tourneys are. In my personal opinion a random day at a field should be looked at as a competitive semi-contact sport ( since we are shooting each other)
That's just my feelings personally.
Half the time I'll do random crap like running across the Field and shooting randomly just because it'll look cool on video. Often I'll play more aggressively when my GOPRO is rolling.
So the camera forces you to do things you wouldn't do otherwise?
@@AirsoftReviewArgentina More or less, I'd say I just play more aggressively to make the video look cooler
I see your point. But how about playing more aggressively just for the sake of it?
Sometimes I do get immediately die as well
great dudes! greetings from GER
I dont know who's house this was filmed at but it's time for Santa to go into storage
This was filmed before Christmas haha. We actually have a backlog of videos from this time frame, so you'll be seeing more of him!
I have taken another route in terms of making footage and It seems to affect me differently. I post every moment in the game and only cut out clips when I'm either dead or nothing is happening. So almost every kill and every death is in the video equally. I make video for fiends in the game with me to watch for lols and just record what happened so friends can talk about the game afterwards. making this find of game play videos tends to drive me a little more behind my fiends as I want to have team mates in my videos.... But I tends to drive my friends into more crazy situations as I'm trying to film them doing awesome sweeps and clearing.. lol
Great video guys. Really eye opening!!!
Still relevant info in 2022!
Shots fired, some ppl will get mad...
A majority of gameplay videos just don't interest me. Alfonse, Drewski and Swamp Sniper are exceptions they put out entertaining and interesting stuff where as everyone else is boring or show the same stuff over and over again.
what if you dont play milsim but play skirmishes, i dont know what they are like in the us but in the uk they are a mix of fast pace and slow. It does depend on the people you get there but it usually does end up 10-20 min rounds most fast pace.
Awesome video guys! Do you guys have a airsoft podcast?
Not going to name any names *COUGH* cleanshot
I heavily agree with the whole video unfortunately sometimes I play differently when I have a GoPro on I play more ballsy. For example I kill one guy his buddy peeks his head I shoot miss them decide to jump across the doorway while shooting in mid air and hit him. That was my first cqb experience still that was my most ballsy moment but I wanted good gameplay. That was the only crazy good moment of that day for 2 hours.
I tried cameras once and learned my play style makes very shaky and jarring footage.
Played my first game ever a couple weeks ago recording it and with a bum knee, shaky is what I have going.
We need a drink when e house drinks drinking game lol
I honestly think he may be an alcoholic. Its a bad example for young fans
The thing is like you guys said I love deemoe and he is open about how he edits but it’s a lot different he’s cutting loads of footage into a 5 minute video
Yes!! The second I put on my GoPro I start to do stupid shit just for clips
Wanna know what's more hardcore than airsoft Alfone's footage? Me getting destroyed with a 2009 ICS sportline M16 A-3
Reality of airsoft “fuck dammit hit again time to walk again to spawn AGAIN”
Well said but let's say it's one way of promoting airsoft to the public to get more people into this fun activity.
Oh it's a great promotion for the game! Not hating on the gameplay videos at all, just stating some of the ways the real game is different from social media.
Go. To . Revelations. At. Ballahack. Please
Gameplay videos are hard "hold my beer" were in the hell did I put my camera.
i didn't know seth rogan played airsoft!
Awsome vid. This is a really good topic and it’s something that should be addressed!
I got a content topic idea that fits the gun gamers description eye protection honed towards those that need prescription Eyewear
Paintball mask, cheap goggles that fit over glasses+fan system, ESS Turbo Fans+prescription lenses for the prescription lense mount, contacts, etc....
I know most of the options but I mean for the new player who needs it cuz it took years for me to figure out what works and what doesn't
Where's that video link?
Sepron Indlvarn Almost forgot! I just put it in the description.
hey guys you keep referencing a sniper video is it out yet if so link plz
christopher Duke Next week. I really liked this video, so I uploaded it first LOL.
Lots of people on their moral high horses in these comments.
I was going to count the endless, mind numbing "correct"'s, but I couldn't stand it past 13:00.
Personally,,,,,,Im offended only after watching your intro. lol
Watching the field owner @ Ballahack cut lines and get random gifts from ppl while competing in & winning each of his own events is a bit sus. Guy's driving AS in a cool direction but it's cringy as hell watching him play. It'd be one thing crashing it on the DL in a balaclava but this guy is on his "Make-A-Wish" game going %110 prom queen. Gets worse each year lol.
life of airsofters on UA-cam is not as good as real life
I have the coolest airsoft gun in the world.
I played at tac city but i kinda want to try out a milsim event, the standing around and looking tacticool, arguing over map/objectives, using the jargon, it appeals to me
Scvmmy The standing around and looking tacticool part is the best part TBH.
@Luke Antony d14 is farrrrr from milsim just so you know.
I like indoor milsoft. As long as everyone is doing the milsoft thing. So less speed soft/COD sprinting more pieing corners.
Playing my first time a couple weeks ago, I ran behind them letting them draw out the shooters getting hit or not, allowed me to shoot a few that were focused on the speed softers that went in front of me lol.
