Thanks Tools, that means so much what 357 Sig was designed to do and give you more than double the capacity of a revolver.
😎👊
@@ToolsandTargets I don't see any .357 tests with Hornady Custom 158gr. Have you tested that one out? Only stuff I can find around me.
They pug load 357sig down to 1350 to 1380 fps. I remember back in late 90s they use to load it between 1400 fps and plus. Now everything is pug loaded. Especially 40 s&w. 40 s&w 180 grain is suppose to travel at 1100fps and company's load it to 990 fps. To 40acp. It's a total joke . That is why we got this non sense on the internet 9mm is just at powerful as 357 magnum and 40 s&w. . Keep up the good work. Another great video like always
Raw brass case police trade in .40 S&W 180 gr HST is rated at 1040 fps.
Every time I hear 357 sig I think about that church headshot video.
Great production quality from you and some solid rounds.
Dude, same 😂 then I have a little chuckle and it brightens my day
Right!@@misterfister7262
Thank you sir.
It scrambled his brain.
I was looking at emails and seen the notification so those can wait! ITS JELLY TIME!!!
Appreciate ya, brother!😎👊
@@ToolsandTargets do you use the same glock 22 mags with the 357 barrel? I’m not too familiar with 357 sig? I’d believe so being that the 357 round is a necked down 40 right?
Right on Tools voice alone is worth the watch everything else is Gravy!
@@Gator69420 Yessir, same mags. The barrel is the one and only part you have to swap.
@@ToolsandTargets thanks man!
2:23 I was so scared for that ladybug!
I started to swipe it away but figured I would let it have some fame.😂
@@ToolsandTargets Now that its got a taste of fame its gonna start its own channel for sure!
@@ToolsandTargets since you've done quite a few 10mm videos (and probably have more in the works), i'll be soon getting the Sig Sauer P320-XTEN in a couple of weeks, since that .45-70 lever-action that I originally wanted to get is currently unavailable and will be for quite sometime.
Ive been waiting to see somebody to do this comparison on UA-cam, glad it's coming from one of the best presenters in his awesome format!
Appreciate that!😎👊
Tools is awesome. Paul Harrel also did a comparison.
The more I see on the .357sig it's making me think of a barrel for the model 23 and some ammunition to play with! 👍
KKM and two lone wolf tested.
KKM is def the way to roll. Highly recommend their threaded brl in 23
Glock oem 32 barrel...2nd to NONE...Will turn your 23 into a real powerhouse!!!
Gel master once again. I hate that you hate sig. I love em
If the box has 357 printed on it, it will do the job!
Honestly, wayyy closer than I'd anticipated. I don't know how that V-Crown compares to other 357 Sig loads, but I definitely expected the HST to be faster.
😎👊
The HST is once again living up to its reputation. This would be a good one for trail defense where I live. I'm happy to hear you're going to be doing more .357 Magnum tests. You have that Python, and it would be nice to see you test some of the loads from the 6" barrel.
Definitely need to do that. I put some Wilson Combat rear sights on it.
The 357 mag technically did better, but I know if I have the choice to carry twice as much ammo, I'm going with the Sig.
I carry gold dot in my P229 357Sig.
Even if I don’t own the the caliber you’re testing I still have to watch because I enjoy watching you test ammo.
I carried a six shot .357 mag. revolver for 16 years , now I carry a 15 round .357 Sig with my own hand loads, 124 gn. premium JHP's velocity 1,450 fps. I have gel tested them against my ,357 Magnum loads. with the same weight bullet they are equivalent. If you want 95% one shot stops they are your best choices. There is no such thing as over penetration , under penetration is any bullet that does not leave the torso leaving a .50 caliber exit hole.
I carry a Ruger Super Redhawk 2 inch barrel .454 Casull in a Diamond D Custom Leather chest holster. You don't even have to draw it and shit drops dead.
Like the 357 sig v crown 125 grain,, it might not be the best, but it gets the job done ✅✅💯 when needed, I have a 33 gen3 and I like it, for energy and stopping power and fast recovery and more rounds for the target 🤔💯 also have some in 9 mm and 40 s&w and,357 magnum and 45 acp, might not be the best or the top of the ammo, but I can get them more than other options
I don't think any bad guy will complain 😕,☹️🤗
@@13BravoBiggunsM110SP Sig V Crown has a good one shot stop percentage from police shooting data. In states where state troopers are still allowed to carry .357 sig . It is the number one ammo carried.
@@rsbreeze I had to kill a black bear once that came in to camp. Dropped it first shot with a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug 44 spl 2" barrel my hand loads, 240 grain hard cast bullet. followed up with two shots to the neck. And that's not B.S. , It was on the New River in 1985, I had no choice because our camp was at the base of a rock cliff. My two sons were mad we didn't skin it for a bear rug.
Always good to see a .357 sig tested!
Even at 1370 the 357 Sig is a really good SD choice, but other than all the hot-rod 9x19 +P there’s some real room within standard pressures.
I run my training ammo at 1450 ft/s with a 121 grain and am nowhere near max pressure, which would be at around 1530
Nice 😎👊
Hard to beat that old 3 57 magnum. Seeing is how it was manufactured back in the 20s or 30s. They stumbled on a monster when they created that round.
Thanks to Elmer Keith! 👍
Another great test. For some reason I've never warmed up to the .357 Sig. It consistently seems to do a great job.
I'm going with the Sig on this one because i prefer penetration over expansion. Thanks for another great comparison!
Just subscribed due to your the only one giving 357 Sig any kind of Love, Appreciate You're hard work brother keep'em coming 👊
I was impressed how good the 357 Sig did
Pretty sad when the company that invented the chambering sucks at loading it😂😂😂😂 so many others load it to max spec…
The same can be said for FN and the 5.7. I wonder if it has to do with big companies and liability or something stupid like that.
Despite those .357 mag rounds being 34 gr heavier, they're still up there in the 1300-fps range performance.
I think that I'll have to favor the Sig Tools because of the consistency and the fact that it exceeded the velocity listed on the box. Performance wise they seem compatible and the Sig seems to be the one you can count on for repeated good performance..
Interesting test there Tools. Like you I'm not a Sig fan either. Enjoy the weather, this coming week has a few really nice days in store. Thanks again for all you do.
Be vigilant and always be safe my friend.
Thank you sir.😎👊
Wow!
Didn't expect that result. So similar!
I think the sig beat out the magnum very handily. Every 357 sig video I watch is pushing me towards ownership...
I am about to retire my duty carry Glock21 and switch to Glock 32 - as soon as I find the right one. Saw a BNIB gen4 for $499 today!
Love the .357sig!
💥🥇💥
Not a big fan of sig myself but I have noticed most of their other v crown offerings do hit their velocity ratings.
😎👊
One particular aspect of the .357 Sig that I really like is that it consistently has enough speed and energy to make the bullet perform as designed. If I was carrying a 3" barreled 9mm pistol loaded with 147 grain JHP (except HST or Gold Dot), I wouldn't expect much of anything in regard to expansion.
Mr. Tools is really enjoyed watching this video. I understand the love you feel towards Sig, I am sorry that they treated you so on the 322. The round however is glorious and has as you saw more thump than 9’s and 40’s. Been following your channel a long time now and appreciate your work!
I like the HST projectile I load for my .45 super, the v-crown comes apart in milk jugs. It can't take the energy dump. the HST projectile loves the energy. if I run .45 acp they seem to be comperable.
I love 357magnum great test thanks I really appreciate you
Thank you sir.😎👊
Regardless of Ammo the GP100 always effective. Accuracy always counts more than expansion the Ruger can handle the hot stuff very well. Great demo thanks for the show.
I have to agree with you…. HST takes that one but the Vcrown didn’t do too shabby. I think they both could be spicier but that’s just me. Great test as always and I got to see that Ruger. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for the demo! Friend of mine is very hot on 357 SIG …. I am just an ole Fudd with 357 Mag though the 357 SIG is impressive I just concerned it’s like 327 Federal…. A good cartridge that’s doesn’t have enough backing to make the prime time.
TOOL .. !!!!! LADY BUG ...!!!! YOUR LUCK JUST CHANGED ... !!!!!! GREAT VIDEO , LIKE ALWAYS ...!!! THANK YOU .. !!!!!
I think that either one would be just fine, I carry both from time to time SIG 229 or my SW MDL 19 Comp carry. That .357 MAG with 154gr bullet would make a good hunting/woods round.
I think the magnum had the edge but both was great! I would be happy with either :D I know you used to like the v-crowns but sig kinda screwed that up with poor service on that junk p322 you had! Too bad on them! Have a good one brother and thanks for the work! 💥💥
357 sig should of had more velocity. Should of had 1400 fps out of a 4" barrel. Definitely one of the watered down ones.
I missed this one somehow. While not in either of these calibers, the Sig V Crown and Federal HST are my go to defensive ammo. Across all platforms and calibers, they seem to have reliable performance. The one exception is for hunting out west, for that the 200 grain bear defense load from Buffalo Bore will be in the 10mm👍
Some words of caution. I had some V Crown 357 Sigs. One of the cartidges in the magazine had the bullet recessed about 2-3 mm. Given the higher chamber pressures of the cartridge, the additional seating was not good. This did not occur during factory loading. Not sure if the set back occurred during shooting, or simply carry and loading the magazine.
Two of my favorite cartridges . Always appreciate your hard work in bringing us up to speed with what's out there .Thanks T&T , you're "The Man" !
Thank you sir. Appreciate that!😎👊
Yes i want more 357 sig
I have a couple of real good ones I just picked up.😎👊
Me too.
I concur.
I just never feel poorly armed with either 357. Many OEMs seem to claim about 1250 for 158gr in 357Mag. In that context Federal is reasonable with these 154s. While the original spec is 1450 with a 125 gr out of a 4" bbl for the Sig I don't get too annoyed until something under 1350 is offered. Thanks for the great work as always and please post a link to your Sig rant. I gotta hear that. They have on several recent occasions failed to meet the high expectations the company earned over decades of producing high quality firearms that were on point right out of the box.
Thank you sir.😎👊
Thanks for the test. The HST is one of my carry options in my P226. Good to see where the Sig stacks up against it.
That HST magnum is one hell
Of a round, and packs some heat, wish they’d make a low recoil 357mag HST maybe 125grain for snub nose that’s a little less. But I’m rocking all my full size with HST now.
Also if you want a micro .357sig for testing, gun zone deals has shield 2.0 40s&w on sale $297 3 mags, and night sights. Then you can buy 357sig barrel for $150 and have best micro gun on the block. I had to get one at that price, probably going to order .357sig barrel soon. Torn on leaving it 40 S&w or make it .357sig.
The 357 Sig may not have all the power of the Magnum but it’s quite close. Factor in the capacity, lower recoil and conceal ability of the Sig and I think you have a better CCW solution. There’s no doubt that the Magnum is more versatile especially as a woods gun. Bottom line, there’s room in my safe both.
👍👍
The 327 magnum is also in the same ballpark as the 357 sig and 357 magnum, I have all three of those caliber pistols , my main EDC caliber pistols
@@13BravoBiggunsM110SP
The 327 is a really sweet caliber. It’s one I would love to have 👍👍

Originally I was looking for a 32 magnum, but when I was at the gun store, one of the sales guys brought out a 3" Taurus stainless and ported,327 magnum revolver they had several Taurus in 2" 327 and some Ruger sp101 stainless 3" and some in charter arms, , bought it right there back in 2014 brand new 289.99 Rugers were about 70.00 dollars more and not ported, but I have more experience with Taurus and very little with Ruger, but the Ruger pistols looks good, but my experience is with Colt , smith & Wesson, Taurus and CZ , Makarov pistol and various other caliber pistols and revolvers and long guns, i think i made the best decision, and had money for around several boxes of 327 magnum ,32 magnum JHP and fmj and some 32 long and have never had any problems with it, although one person that bought the sp101 327 had some minor issues, with the cylinder latch on his
Another good test and commentary. V-Crown and HST are similar looking in this test. Two good ammo types that is worth the price. Very nice expansion and penetration. Really interesting to see those two calibers compared together. The HST is still king though. Good job and be safe. ⭐️⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸
Thank you sir.😎👊
Good show! The V-Crown has always functioned very much like an HST with my use. They even look a lot alike when pulled.
I haven't heard you go on about Sig. I have as many of them as Glocks. The on 320 type I have ever used is an X-Five Legion that rests on my bedstand. I carry one or another of my P365 each day when I step out of the house. I carried a P229 Elite for concealed before meeting the P365. Nothing bad on any of mine.

Nice test. I need to get some of those HSTs for my 357. Currently running HTPs which are good as well. I'm like you. I love a spicy round.
I have both of those rounds, nice results!
Thanks for putting up with having to say SIG so many times paired with positive remarks. They may have done you dirty, but they did get the 357 SIG right. 😁😁 1350 fps with 124gr seems to be standard load for 357 Sig and it has seemed to me to be much more consistent with labels between brands than 10mm or 40S&W. Although I have only experienced Speer, Fiocci, Sig and Liberty ammo. I have some Underwood, but have not used any of that yet. I carry Speer Gold Dot & Liberty Civil Defense it in my P320C and P226.
The sig won’t quite do what the mag does but it’s real close and if you consider the higher magazine capacity it makes up for it
I’ve got both but the mag is my favorite even though I have a lot of respect for the sig
Thank you for another very good comparison, Tools. I didn't realize that the .357 Sig had that much oomph. The V-crown did pretty well against the Federal HST. A viable defensive load, for sure!
Thank you sir.😎👊
Some .357 Sig loads are even hotter. But these are fine.
Nicely done. Honestly, I'd be good with either of those. My choice is the 180 HST 40 though. Your previous test of that was very good.
Thank you sir.😎👊
So we've got weak and weaker, lol.
But honestly though, that .357 Magnum does have some surprisingly good energy for commercial stuff. Probably some of the best stuff outside of boutique brands.
Its been a while since i looked, but the FBI used to have a spreadsheet of ammo for one shot stops use on duty. I run HST, Gold Dot or Golden Sabre.
I really love this channel you have every traditional round I generally look for really hot fmj and jhp in each caliber your doing the lords work man keep it up 💪🏾
Appreciate that, brother.😎👊
Bet the ammo supplier is happy. Thank you.
😎👊
I have a lot of HST. It's been my goto for 40 plus years. But I also have a lot of V Crown. That said, my home defense tool is loaded with HST.
I don't have any of the calibers in the past couple of videos, but I still watch and like because I love Tool's tests. Also, no, I'm not familiar with your Sig rant.
Sunny day here too, went to a suppressor shoot -then had a flat tire on the way home…- Always a good day when it's sunny, I get to run cans, and a T&T ammo test to finish out the day!
💥😎👊💥
I'm really liking that 357 sig. Great video as always! Thanks! Your the man!
Good test , again , the 4" .357 is just wicked good
Great test! I like that v crown in any caliber. Might have to get the .357 sig barrel for my uspc I like what I see!
With a channel named Tools and Targets, just know I have to subscribe, - without even watching one video.
Thank you sir. Appreciate that!😎👊
Both rounds did fantastic Im still a fan of the VCrown Stay Safe 🙏🙏
That was a cool comparison. Have you got your hands on some 357 SIG RANGER-T ammo? That would be an awesome test. HST vs. RANGER-T. IMHO those are the top two projectiles.
I think we've only met a couple .357sig loads that will truly match the rimmed cartridges' performance. Don't we see 124gr magnum rounds going about 1400+?
But the terminal ballistics of both are very similar!😮
Yep
@@MijitB the terminal performance of 357 mag vs 357 sig is only similar is certain comparison testings . The .357 magnum can shoot up to 180 grain jacketed bullets and up to 220 hard cast , on much larger and thicker targets 357 mag will quickly outdo 357 sig. Lets not even get inot how badass 357 mag is ina carbine ! love both calibers though!
I have a 357Sig barrel for my G22 but I don't shoot it much because 357Sig ammo is expensive AF at $49.99 per box of 50 rounds.
Both did a very good job, Thank you for another great honest test
😎👊
Both made the gel jump around.!
Fun test.!! Good shootin', hoss.!!!
I would love to see what the new 9mm SimX rangecore ammo would do to gel, no one has a video on it yet. It's basically a 50gr fmj going over 2000 fps I think it would be interesting.
I dont have 357 sig , do have 357mag(wifes...) but no vcrown or hst...yet , i do have a few boxes of vcrown in 40s&w. Now wifey feeling a little better im trying to get her to a range to test out her 692 , in a wk or 2 !

I've never seen an HST not preform, Didn't you test some 9mm Sig Elite 124-gr and It did pretty good, Don't remember if it was bare gel or not, Thanks Brian, very interesting test. 👍🇺🇸
😎👊
I don't blame you for hating Sig. I was suspect of them before I saw the crap they pulled with you on that 22 pistol. I'll never buy from them now.
One of the best personalities on youtube, especially in the guntubing community. Seems like a guy I’d like to hang out with.
Appreciate that, my friend.😎👊
Do you have (or have you considered making) a running list of your favorite three brands/bullets for various applications? You're one of the few methodical testers that uses realistic clothing barriers in your evaluations (plain gelatin lies). In other words... a chart that shows your top performers for specific calibers/barrel lengths? For example, it would be immensely educational to see what you found works best for .45 ACP in government issue vs. tanker length barrel, or a .357 magnum in a 4 inch vs. 2 inch barrel.
Great performance from both! There's no doubt, the 357 Sig is a spicy boi in a 9mm sized pistol. I've never been tempted to get one, I've got big hands, so when I step up from 9mm I go straight to 10mm.
Good 10mm video tomorrow.😎👊
Tools I will use whatever I can get, and if I can get a good deal, well that is just the icing on top!
Nice performance out of both rounds. Heard good things about the Vcrown, looks like a good choice if I can’t find HST. Thanks for the test Tools!
😎👊
I’m going for the 357sig. 15 rounds of 357 standard.
The clear winner is whatever round was previously shot in-between these two! It was likely fired from a rifle if not I'm curious as to what it is, these two both did good as well though.
40 sw xtp
It tumbled
Just a tumbling .40 S&W.
@@ToolsandTargets To me it looks like a better "wound track" tumbled or not.
PDX1 is the best load for .357 Sig and really good in .357 mag but not the best. Then HST. Stay away from Gold Dots in .357 Sig

Thanks for another great test
I think either would leave a mark on something 😮
Your channel is one I very much enjoy watching and appreciate the content.
Another great jelly test Brotha ..
Its funny how all the ammo u find is actually soft points and hollow points. Its rare to find a fmj with both of these. They know u aint messin around or shooting it a lot. BUT you can get the sig in 50 packs and practice for cheaper just like u would in 38 special. not full pwr so imo 357 sig wins out.
Itd be nice to see a 147gr in the 357 sig for “bear/hunting protection”
I know it's either a love it or hate it caliber but if you have a 204 ruger would love to see some of those or 22-250. I know you do mostly self defense rounds but hunting rounds on chrono and how they do in gel would be awesome. Big thumbs up as always. Keep up the great work.
I've never shot a .204 Ruger. AR platform or through a bolt? Always heard it was a barrel-burner but that's about all I've heard. Well, that and it's a great coyote round
😎👊
The 357 mag may have performed a little better, but I'd take the Sig for the 15+1 rounds available in the gun if I had to choose one for carry.
Mhmm
Good test & good ammo , good day from Thailand .
I get home from some .44Mag load testing and there's a new Tools&Targets video? Hell yeah!
