The "Stella, Stella..." bit was probably some kind of failed reference to "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1951), especially since the monster sounds vaguely like Brando.
It’s actually a shame that Dreamworks wants *nothing* to do with Felix the Cat in general. There’s so much more to him than just terrible crap like this movie. That Twisted Tales show in particular is absolute *gold,* and the older cartoons made of him before he was turned into a kid friendly mascot are good too. Even the 1950’s rendition of it isn’t *too* bad, it’s fine to be honest, even if it’s not what we remember him most for. If Dreamworks doesn’t even want anything to do with him, then why did they buy rights to even make merch off of him? Wouldn’t it have been better to just have Felix be 100% in the public domain? Sure there would probably be some poor quality things coming out of that, but there would be a lot more good ones too since Felix is considered to be obscure by today’s standards, and cartoon buffs such as myself would love to use him. He’s not worthless, and I’m sad that most people disregard him as such after the 90’s. And what makes it even *more* heartbreaking is that there are plenty of other cartoon characters from his prime as well that are even less known. Really the only cartoon characters that have stuck around from the first half of the 20th Century is Mickey and Oswald, but for Oswald he wasn’t even brought back to Disney until the late 2000’s, and the only thing he’s genuinely taken apart of since officially is the two Epic Mickey games, otherwise though he only makes brief cameos at best. So yeah, Mickey is the only one that’s in constant public consciousness, and that’s only because of them trying to milk the marketing out of him as Disney’s company mascot. But otherwise, I think it’s fair to say that all of the characters from that era are completely dead by this point. So much potential is being wasted with no one willing to take them into proper form. Even the simpler inspirations like Cuphead and Bendy eclipse all of their true legacies. It’s kinda depressing to be honest… EDIT: Apparently there is a show that’s going to be made by WildBrain? I have no idea what that’s all about though. I wouldn’t be surprised if it would be on Nickelodeon since Garfield is kinda going through the same thing it sounds like.

11:15 "I haven't seen this much fruit salad since I was in California" Okay, this is probably a huge stretch and I know I'm probably wrong, but I'm going to take a wild guess as to what this is _maybe_ a reference to. So in Los Angeles, there's a really famous neon sign of Felix the Cat that's been there since the 50's, for a car dealership that was established in the 20's by a guy who was supposedly friends with Pat Sullivan, which is how they got permission to use his character to sell cars. The sign is a local landmark and they even tried to make it an official historical landmark. On top of all that, that area of southern California is known for having a lot of fruit farms. Strawberries, grapes, oranges, all local produce. So Felix has been to California and is arguably still there, and there's a lot of fruit grown there, so yeah. Is that anything? I don't know man, this movie was a fever dream.
The dialogue in this film reminds me of the Dougal movie’s US dub, with the characters constantly making quips when there was little in the actual source material

Holy crap, I just noticed Butler in the background during the 'guessing time' section... that scene looks like Butler killed Lich. Isn't Otto Mesmer also the man who 'created' hypnosis? Originally called Mesmerism?
Its like a prequel to "The Adventures of Sonic", -chilidogs- hotdog reference, similar animations and voice acting, random worlds, robot peons, silly main villain, and we would have to wait till Sonic 06 till a human princess stepped in.
I grew up watching the old Felix the Cat cartoon from the 50s, and I've never seen the 90s cartoon. I used to have a DVD of it a long time ago. I saw this movie for myself a while ago, and it does look pretty bad.
I wonder if that random "Stella" line could be a reference to the movie "A Streetcar Named Desire" (Stella is the name of the main female character) and "Along the Waterfront" Both films star Marlon Brando and seem to combine lines he said in both films. So maybe that monster is supposed to be a Marlon Brando reference?

Quick Correction, Twisted Tales isn't European. It was made by Film Roman, the American company that did the Garfield TV Specials, Garfield and Friends, and a bunch of other 90's TV Cartoons. The intro on UA-cam is only in German because Germany is the only place that got a complete DVD Release. It was only recently added to Roku and Peacock in the USA with it's original English text, still in PAL speed instead of the correct NTSC Anyways, Poindexter and th Professors from the 1958 Show are in the movie because it was made by Don Oriolo. Also, Don Oriolo made Coconut Fred after his 2004 Felix Christmas Special Flopped
The Duke: My Cylinders...why? I have given you life! I have given you power! Have pity! Supreme Cylinder: ...PI-TY? THAT WORD IS NOT IN MY VERBAL LIBRARY. ERADICATE!!
Okay, I keep coming back to this video, and a weird thought hit me as I was watching the dimens porter scene... imagine someone who has some knowledge of what it takes to activate the thing coming in after Oriana's tear works it, going, "Hmm... wet buttons, clearly been activated... did... did she smash her face into the keys while crying?" Raccoon fish with tits... oh, yes, hit more furry tropes, Felix.
I've considered doing a video on Magic Voyage, but I couldn't sit through it. My nostalgia for Felix gave me the strength to watch this film multiple times, no such shield existed for Magic Voyage.
You said that the DVDs of this movie came with those issues, well, i own a DVD of this movie and it has none of the lip syncing issues so the copy that you got was potato quality.
I've actually discovered this myself recently. I've been considering remaking this video like i remade the Hell's Dominion video. There are a lot of things about this video i wish i could change. Maybe I'll tackle that after I'm done with what's on my plate now.
There are two different opinions about the film. One suggests that the film would have been better if it had never been made. The other opinion suggests that Disney or Universal should have been the sole creators of the movie during that time. It does not make sense why the film was outsourced heavily around the world from Europe, Canada, and the United States; its age shows when we look at it today. Another viewpoint proposes that the film would have done a lot better if it was not released in theatres but was released directly to video or as a TV special. As an animation student, I often compare good and bad animation. I use the Felix the Cat movie as an example of mediocre animation. It helps me spot any animation errors. In summary, it's one of those rare animated movies that are so poorly made that they become fun to watch. Another example of a poorly made modern film is 'Wish', where there is no clear message, and unfortunately, it feels like it was written entirely by an AI.
I have a feeling this movie was dubbed and probably terribly edited for a North American release, and then terribly transferred on to VHS. Like, imported animated films at the time had a terrible time getting proper releases or got bastardized releases (case in point, when Naussica released in the US, it was completely butchered by the studio that adapted it for an American release [think Macross to Robotech but worse] and Miyazaki refused to allow distribution of anything else for the US, that is until Disney promised not to edit anything as a condition for release in the US market, which is why they have exclusive distribution rights)
I actually managed to get the main man Don Oriolo to respond to the question about the dubbing. He swears the movie is as he invisioned it, no weirdness. Weird flex, saying that the movie didn't have any problems, he was just incompetent as a filmmaker.
The 1959 tv series was so much better than the 90s version, it was ACTUALLY kid friendly and absolute fun with its piss poor animation and hilarious characters

Ive never seen the latter half of this movie because the local broadcasts mustve gotten a faulty copy where around the circus part the visuals loop back to the start but the audio gets screwy
Well that sounds fuckin cursed lmao
11:15 "I haven't seen this much fruit salad since I was in California"
Okay, this is probably a huge stretch and I know I'm probably wrong, but I'm going to take a wild guess as to what this is _maybe_ a reference to.
This is the deepest deep cut I could've imagined for this joke and it's so outrageous I have to assume that it's true
The Nerd Stash passingly mentioned in an article talking about the upcoming Sonic Prime series that Wildbrain is making a new Felix The Cat cartoon.
Holy shit that could either be incredible or horrible news! I guess we'll have to just wait and see.
The dialogue in this film reminds me of the Dougal movie’s US dub, with the characters constantly making quips when there was little in the actual source material
I bought and watched this movie and I was 100% sure i bought a bootleg. The audio balancing was all over the place and the saturation of the video kept changing. I couldn't even hear the characters most of the time. I also can't shake the feeling there are missing scenes. It was fun and left me with questions.
I actually got in contact with the movie's creator and he says everything's the way it should be. What a beautiful disaster.
The Chad Twisted Tales vs The Virgin Felix the cat Movie 😂
My grandparents had thiis movie on vhs. Man was it sucha fever dream
"Stella, stella. I could've been somebody." is a reference to two movies; A Streetcar Named Desire and On The Waterfront, both staring Marlon Brando.
In case anyone is wondering, there is a version of this movie on youtube in 1080p. Honestly, it changes the experience quite a bit!
AAAAH since when holy shit I had to use an absolutely horrendous rip for this video.
@@HauntLich It was uploaded like half a year ago - so it's not your fault for not using it!
@@Cp-71 Time to do a george lucas style special edition remaster of this video lolol
@@HauntLich Honestly, I'd watch that!
@@Cp-71 same
mmm that murderface cameo tho
Tittyfish
This is my favourite childhood movie but i don't remember it beign this bad, I enjoyed your commentary
It can be bad and still be your favorite movie! :D
I grew up watching the old Felix the Cat cartoon from the 50s, and I've never seen the 90s cartoon. I used to have a DVD of it a long time ago. I saw this movie for myself a while ago, and it does look pretty bad.
I used to LOVE the 50s show and when I saw this for the first time I was excited to watch it but it ended up being total crap lol
22:26 ok but didja have to use THAT clip
Holy shit someone finally noticed
@@HauntLich lmao
(Very underrated channel you got here, btw)
I wonder if that random "Stella" line could be a reference to the movie "A Streetcar Named Desire" (Stella is the name of the main female character) and "Along the Waterfront"
Both films star Marlon Brando and seem to combine lines he said in both films. So maybe that monster is supposed to be a Marlon Brando reference?
19:10
Wait… don’t tell me…. It’s … it’s
Power,Courage and Wisdom!
19:18
Well i was wrong
6:04 Oh. I thought that it's all because of animation being outsourced elsewhere.
What kinds of hallucinogenic drugs do European producers have access to?
Only the finest it would seem
hey when you are 8 years old and actually know who Felix the Cat is this movie is pretty good. i watched it so much when i was a kid. I do remember not liking his voice but the movie was ok enough for my stupid 8 year old brain.
You need more views man
I remember watching this movie on the Disney Channel back in the 90's it was a mess but I like Twisted Tales of Felix The Cat
16:30 - it’s some strange reference to Marlon Brando, but I don’t know why they felt he needed that line.
That dragon was referencing Marlon Brando, those are iconic lines from most famous movie "stella, stella" is from "streetcar named desire" and "i could have been somebody" is from "godfather"
Copyright claimed by egeda for 15 seconds of the video. Wompity womp womp. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's why you gotta stay ahead of the meta and copyright claim your own videos before anybody else can. All the cool kids do it now.
@@Recon011a it's funny because i was thinking about that exact thing, but the copyright claim was automatic based on some audio in my video. I couldn't claim it myself because it uploaded claimed.
@@HauntLich Well, better luck next time.
I think there's enough resources on the steps required to game the yt system now but you'll have to figure out of it's worth it for you.
Fam this is great! Love the vid.
Thank you! I have a soft spot for this one despite it being from before i really figured out my editing style. I'm glad you like it.
this movie gives me so much pain
"Sonic & Elise." I was thinking it & you said it.
Who is the boss? The duke of dental floss.
After what the nostalgia critic said about this movie, yeah, this is a train wreck and a garbage fire
(Fun fact) why felix's mouth does not move is because he has voices in his head that don't stop Talking
9:43 and now they make the wacky world of Tex Avery look sane
Quick Correction, Twisted Tales isn't European. It was made by Film Roman, the American company that did the Garfield TV Specials, Garfield and Friends, and a bunch of other 90's TV Cartoons. The intro on UA-cam is only in German because Germany is the only place that got a complete DVD Release. It was only recently added to Roku and Peacock in the USA with it's original English text, still in PAL speed instead of the correct NTSC
Anyways, Poindexter and th Professors from the 1958 Show are in the movie because it was made by Don Oriolo.
Also, Don Oriolo made Coconut Fred after his 2004 Felix Christmas Special Flopped
Gotta love the Hexen/Heritic backgrounds
The Duke: My Cylinders...why? I have given you life! I have given you power! Have pity!
Supreme Cylinder: ...PI-TY? THAT WORD IS NOT IN MY VERBAL LIBRARY. ERADICATE!!
This is "the room" of animation.
I actually had this movie as a kid and back then I didn't understand shit about the movie. I still don't understand it.
Who is the boss? The Duke of zill of course.
Okay, I keep coming back to this video, and a weird thought hit me as I was watching the dimens porter scene... imagine someone who has some knowledge of what it takes to activate the thing coming in after Oriana's tear works it, going, "Hmm... wet buttons, clearly been activated... did... did she smash her face into the keys while crying?"
Raccoon fish with tits... oh, yes, hit more furry tropes, Felix.
Creaking Skull

It's worse than The Magic Voyage. Both European movies, and dubbed into nonstop noise. Atleast in Magic Voyage you can understand what they are saying
I've considered doing a video on Magic Voyage, but I couldn't sit through it. My nostalgia for Felix gave me the strength to watch this film multiple times, no such shield existed for Magic Voyage.
best movie i've seen in my entire life
Genuinely good taste tbh
Man, I remember watching this movie when I was very little, this brings back memories.
8:22 okay your making ren & stimpy look sober
This Movie has ADD Syndrome, it has to make Noise at ALL TIMES to keep children "interested"
As a kid I assumed my adhd prevented me from following this story... Now I realize I was a bit too hard on myself.
19:11 Is this "Blood"?
You said that the DVDs of this movie came with those issues, well, i own a DVD of this movie and it has none of the lip syncing issues so the copy that you got was potato quality.
I've actually discovered this myself recently. I've been considering remaking this video like i remade the Hell's Dominion video. There are a lot of things about this video i wish i could change. Maybe I'll tackle that after I'm done with what's on my plate now.
Man, I loved this movie as a kid!
ayo man it didn't have to be that deep holy crap that's funny!!! XD 5:33
ayo it ain't that deep my guy just fall and do what you have to do :l 7:45
poindexter is poor man's Dr. Wily lol
Poindexter was created like 30 years before Dr Wily
Princess... spiral letter, pi, iawa.... at 2:21... That is horrible handwriting, especially for a princess.
No Idea dirty mouther 11:45
This was a strange ride but I liked it just wish it was not rushed love your videos
The movie might be ass but that Duke of Zill song's kind of a banger.
Me five minutes in: *what*
I have a feeling this movie was dubbed and probably terribly edited for a North American release, and then terribly transferred on to VHS.
