@@HauntLich I would like to bring up that one of the main reasons the movie sequel failed is that it’s a retelling of the “Prince and the Pauper” story, but with Tabby Cats as the titular characters. The opening credits to “A Tale of Two Kitties” even highlighted the fact that it’s gonna be a retelling of a classic story with Garfield in the main role. They even reused the model to create a new character: Prince XII, voiced by British Celebrity and Veteran Actor Tim Curry, who you may remember is the voice of Nigel Thornberry from the Wild Thornberrys, King Acorn from Sonic SatAM, and King Chicken from Duckman. One more thing to note is that Garfield, and (to a lesser extent) Tom Cat, use to be introduced to look more like regular cats, and would take a while until it evolves to be more lively and dynamic in its character. If Tom and Jerry failed with it’s first short (Puss Gets the Boot) and Garfield didn’t evolve pass the Pendleton Times, we wouldn’t have the more familiar versions of the characters we know today. And I find it hilarious how Garfield in the movie looked more like the Garfield presented back in 1978, where his legs are less anthropomorphized and more like a regular cat’s hind legs. But you know what? If there’s one positive thing I can say about those Live-Action Garfield movies, it would be this: Bill Murray and Lorenzo Music sharing the same two characters (Garfield and Peter Venkman) should be considered a blessing, because Bill Murray makes a more convincing Garfield voice than Chris Pratt.
I spent the whole video waiting to comment about how Garfield: Caught in the Act is pretty acceptable if it wasn't included. That game was one of my old standards for when I got bored of beating Sonic 1-3, Demon's Crest or the Castlevania games for the 100th time. Also the pirate stage simultaneously being the jungle stage is probably a Treasure Island reference.
Aaaah Treasure Island that makes a lot of sense. Yeah Garfield: Caught in the Act is legit. It's not GREAT but it's certainly worth a sit if you're a fan of retro platformers.
Caught in the Act apparently went through its own bit of development hell. I remember reading the whole game had to be scrapped and redone at some point. The back of the box shows a train section for Catsablanca that was ultimately scrapped because the person who programmed that scene couldn't make it work in time. The PC version includes a new last level, Alien Landscape. This was reportedly 100% finished for the Genesis version, but taken out for reasons I can't remember. Only small fragments of the code remain. The level order in the PC version is also different. The developers were actually not fond of the graveyard level coming first in the original release, but that's what Sega told them to do.
Garfield is a little bit recognizable here in Iraq because of it’s live action movies and that one animated series but in terms of games they never reached here not even pirated playstation 2 games.
Honestly, Garfield's Nightmare isn't bad. It's certainly not _good,_ but it's not particularly bad (I'd say it's the definition of "average"). Full disclosure: I'm probably at least a bit biased, as it was a birthday gift I got as a kid, but hey. I'd say the soundtrack's probably the best part. Not the main theme, because the main theme is God-awful; it's the stuff you hear in the levels, and _especially_ the boss fights, that's pretty damn solid. Seriously, the reason I even remember "Warren Batty" and "Jean Cloud" at all is because of their epic boss themes.
@@gozert1803 He was just being dramatic during the soup. 7-11 Taquitos are what did him in. I'm sure I can fish him out of the sewer he can't be that hard to find.
It's kinda hard to make a game out of the laziest feline to exist. Realistically, Garfield would just give up and sit on the couch, watching TV and eating a tray of lasagna. 📺🍝🐈
If the player had to clear your game in one go to beat you it would be an especially cruel trick. They go through all that work, only to meet your quite outgoing Butler. If they are fooled by it, Butler can catch them off guard or lead them into a trap, forcing them to start all over. Assuming they see through Butler, they then reach a very reasonable and relatable evil mastermind. You can use that to catch them off guard and get a cheap kill or you can go full Dragonlord and offer the hero half the world to fuck off somewhere. If they accept not only do you kill them while their back is turned and force a restart, you create a split timeline where they accept your offer and devolve into a borderline cave man lording over a tiny dump and totally convinced they outsmarted you, while you get to actually rule the world and king dumbass keeps anyone from getting the legendary gear to fight you. Truly these Garfield devs must be the inspiration for r/imsorryjon with such abominable game design

To be honest, I kinda like Garfield's Nightmare, it has okay gameplay and includes bosses! The main problem I'd say is that it's getting really difficult after some levels
With Garfield (2004), someone actually changed the game to be usable with an Xbox controller, usable on modern monitors, and more. It's called Garfield+
