Thank you very much, David, for your repost, always a pleasure to review. The Military Musical Spectacular 2024 was a magnificent event, an excellent Guards Parade.

This is a smashing video of a fabulous occasion. I count myself very fortunate to have attended the Wednesday performance. On that day the majority of the participants had already been involved with the State Opening of Parliament, the date and timing of which had been completely unknown when these events were planned! They must have been pretty whacked but still came up with a top tier performance!
Thank you for sharing this, makes me want to go again this year😎

I love that Snr Drum Major Gareth Chambers when leading off always includes The Pipes and Drums in his commands . Q.S. ☘💂‍♂️

Well….. he does indeed include them but only because they are present😌 As a point of interest he says “Massed Bands, Drums and Pipes”, rather than “Massed Bands, Pipes and Drums.' (Since drums were carried by British soldiers before pipes, the drums are senior.) There are so many traditions in the British military, I doubt anyone person knows them all🤭

So he is the famous Gareth Chambers! His name would not have meant anything to me then but all of you comment upon his style frequently. How can the Drum Majors style differ though when their actions, surely are precisely the same? (This glory and wonder moved me to tears last year. Thank you so much.)

SDM Gareth Chambers, Irish Guard MVO☘️ is Unique, his style inimitable, He'll be a hard act to follow, nobody can hold a candle with him!!

@FrithGarcia, SDM Chambers is one of a kind🙂most of the drum majors have their own, “flair,” so to speak but when it’s three or more marching side by side, they have precise movements from what I’ve seen

@charlottecunningham2141 Ciao Charlotte, happy sunday! I was referring to the style, each of us has our own style. That doesn't mean the other DMs aren't good, they're well trained and know how to play their role very well. It's just a matter of style. I like to compare opinions!🙂 it's nice to do it here!

You could ask how renditions of “Nessun Dorma” are so different, given that the words and melody are the same! Renditions by the late lamented Pavarotti knocked spots off the rest, he set a very high bar!
Similarly although the actions of Drum Majors within the Household Division are essentially the same for any given occasion/situation they each deliver with nuances particular to themselves. In some that could come over as stately; gung-ho;grand;slightly clumsy;enthusiastic;flamboyant and so on.
In the case of Senior Drum Major Chambers MVO he has a unique elegant flair, a poise and bearing which, when combined with his inherent military precision and ability to time the actions to perfection with the music, make it a joy to behold. He sets the gold standard!
As Alba states in his comment above, his will be a hard act to follow, but even harder to match.
Hi Alba, Charlotte and Hazel👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 You three already know this of course, and more😎

Sorry David, but just to clarify the beginning is not Nightfall in Camp, or The Day Thou Gavest, It is Abide with me and The Last Post, (Ex, Scots Guards Band 1970 - 75)

@@kevinmorgan2100 Nightfall in Camp includes the hymn Abide with me and the last post, it was arranged by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Pope OBE, director of music, Coldstream Guards, who served from 1944 to 1963. Hope that clarifies it, and thank you for your service.
