I have been down the UA-cam rabbit hole trying to find an apple canning recipe that doesn't make a syrup and wastes natural apple juices. My canned apples are always mushy because they are cooked twice before I even put them in a pie. I loved the procedure you have and have apples ready to can, just no recipe! Thank you for the straight forward instruction. This looks like the one for which I've been searching.

I'm so glad I found this video! I had just hand peeled, cored and cut 45lbs of apples we picked from a friend's trees. I wanted to find a good video for the slices (also have applesauce and juice from peels), and I saw this before I made a simple sugar and all that jazz.. it'll save so much time and I can take a break from 6 hours of peeling 🤣. Thanks so much for sharing this. It was a huge help to me! ❤️❤️

it depends on how you store them. If stored in dark cool place they could last 5 years or so. The USDA, however, only recommends using your home canned goods inside of a year. I just make sure my jars and lids are still sealed and in good shape as in no mold or leaking or just plain smelling funky. some foods I can get eaten up in a year and others will be gone by three years.

I think the juices released from the fruit due to the sugar being added to then is what us used. I've read a comment that someone also added some apple juice when simmering the syrup to increase the liquid put into their jars.

Those are beautiful apples....not a brown spot one. What type of apple is that? Did you use an apple peeler to do that many apples? Thanks for sharing the video. Have a Blessed day.

I peeled and cored them by hand. These were apples that friends gave me. They were Gala and Red Delicious.

Why do we need to add sugar?

Did you rinse the sugar off or just drain the apples from juice?

Did you boil your lids and rings first? Or assumed it was known part of the process (new canning folk won’t be clear on this) I’m going to try this. I was gifted 10# of 🍎
