  • Tip #28 - Z84 FPV Race Wing - Tips & Setup for a Successful Maiden Flight
The Z84 is a pretty nice Wing with a decent power system.
This version is the PNF that has a 2208 2600kv Motor, 30A ESC, and 5050 Prop.
I've found a 6040 Prop works much better than the stock 5050 Prop as it produces more thrust and is more efficient.
I will be testing my favorite Parkjet Prop on this Wing during my next Flight Session and I'll bet 6x3 Prop will perform better than the 6x4 ;-)
The KMP 6040 Composite Prop proved to provide a lot of thrust with good efficiency.
When I landed I still had 3.85v per cell ;-)
My new favorite Prop for this Wing.....until I have the results of the 6x3 ;-)
The Specified CG works well on this Wing and I setup for a Neutral Balance on the CG.
You will need a Prop Collet as the Rubber Band Prop Holder is not very good.
The Magnet for the Canopy is not very strong so I use a Velcro Strap to securely hold the Canopy in place.
***Note: I replaced the T-plug on mine with an XT60 Plug on the ESC

Just wanted to say thank you. Bought the pnp version from Ali express for a really cheap price. Followed your advice on throws, expo, elevator up trim , throttle for launch and launch angle. Just maidened it in about 12 mph wind......and no problem. No loss of height on launch, no over control, not twitchy and easy glide in landing. Your advice was spot on. Andy in uk.

      That's great Andy!
The Z84 is a fantastic Wing
Ive been flying mine a lot lately.
I'm glad those setting s worked out for you.
You're going to have a great time with that Wing.
      See you in the Air!

Just built mine today. I'm thinking of using a 2212 2450kv motor with a 3 blade 6x4 prop and a 3s 2200mah lipo, 30a ESC, no fpv camera.. and see how it flies

Awesome! This Wing can carry quite a bit of weight so I don't think you'll have any problem with that setup. It can also handle quite a bit of Wind which is good for both of us ;-) I've flown it with a 3S 2200mah LIPO weighing approx. 175g and it flew great. I've also had a Runcam Action Cam mounted on the top of the Canopy with no issues and it weighs approx. 42g. Let me know how you like it.

@@GroundControlRC I tested mine today, it was terrible. Kept crashing so hard the motor mount came loose, way too much power and out of control. I may have to try with a smaller motor or a stabilizer. I had the mixing set correctly, so maybe it requires a special technique for launching

@@texasuavpilot Oh No! It is a bit awkward to launch. I hold it by the Wing Tip and let the motor do most of the work and swing it around and up at approx. 60% Throttle. I've had good success with that technique and I also launch the Eachine Micro Skyhunter the same way. I hope you can get it back in the air.

@@GroundControlRC i will try your technique, I was definitely launching it wrong,, also the angle of the motor was way off after the first crash. The SonicModell Skyhunter, no problem, that plane is one of the best fliers I got now, 10 minutes of nonstop fun!

@@texasuavpilot That's fantastic! I may have to get the SonicModell Version as well since the Eachine Version is so much fun! I'm glad you like the Skyhunter ;-)

What's the biggest lipo that will fit

The bay isn't very large but it can carry a lot of weight.
      I fly it with a 4s 1300mah LIPO.
Since LIPOs come in different shapes and sizes it hard to say.
