    This is a very interesting technique. Almost like watercolor pencils. In almost every video I have seen regarding color pencils and specifically blending with solvent, they creator was very adamant about letting the solvent dry before applying more color. The tooth of the paper will break down. I have just started my art journey and just got prismacolor pencils. I did see the comment about it needing to be heavy watercolor paper or the like. I want to give this a go though. But probably once I get more of the basics down. None the less, loved the video. Very informative with good demonstration of technique.

    Colin, beautiful work! So these are colored pastel pencils? If so, you can blend them with solvent? If that’s true, I have soft pastel sticks and Mona Lisa solvent. Can I blend those with solvent???

      Thank you, these are the luminance range of coloured pencils so not pastel, I'm not sure if you can combine pastel with solvent 🙂

    Where you state a series of round brushes, can you be more specific as to brand and type, e.g., silicone? I’m trying to buy the listed supplies but am unsure about this part.

      These are the specific brand of brushes I use so anything similar to this would be fine: store.colinbradleyart.com/collections/watercolour/products/winsor-newton-cotman-brushes-series-111-round?variant=35109077975191

    can the clouds be done any other way if you don't have solvent, this is brilliant, as im new to colour pencils and even with watercolour clouds is the hardest part of a landscape .i see you are using a light grey why not white?

    Why can't I blend the colour that way? It seems like butter when he does it, I use the same brand...

    • @colin1940
      @colin1940  Рік тому +1

      Hi Emanuela, so the key with this is to just wait the perfect amount of time so that the solvent isn't too dry but just wet enough to blend and make a smooth colour. If you time it right it will work and if you are using the same paper etc.

    Hi, Colin, would watercolour pencils give the same effect?

    • @colin1940
      @colin1940  3 роки тому

      They will not be as good as the pastel pencils due to the blending quality of pastel.

      @@teerex1011 Polychromos Faber Castell oil pencils are amazing!!! You can blend them with paint thinner. I use Mona Lisa odorless thinner personally but whatever you choose is based on personal preference. The pros to Polychromos faber castell oil pencils is their vibrancy in color, they don’t break at their sharpest point thus making them last longer, when you blend them, if gives the same look as an oil painting. I highly recommend you invest them over any colored pencils! And stay away from Prisma colored pencils! You can blend them, but they’re a wax based pencil and they constantly break!!! The most annoying thing ever!
