It was awesome meeting you at the start, Rich! You captured the course really well, even if our Go Pros don't handle light too well. You made me chuckle at 8:19 'young Craig is probably home in Maidstone by now'haha. What I like about your video is how you captured so much of the experience. For me, caning it and going a bit fast, I do sometimes feel like I can't capture as much of the experience as I would like so it's good to see how a fellow runner got on taking things a bit more chilled. Hope you're on the mend from the slight injury. I took a bad tumble myself a few weeks back and its still healing. nice work mate
Hey Craig! Yes great to meet you too. Haha yes we talked about you a lot didn't we! Obsessed! But I think we were probably right with your amazing finish time. Thanks mate - I thought your video was great and you're clearly a more skilled editor but I know what you mean, it's tricky to film when you're running fast. I've had that running 5 and 10Ks, but for this I knew we'd be taking it easy. The knee was deeper than I realised, which is why I did those close ups (before realising I probably had to censor it) but it's healing up nicely thanks. Hope yours sorts itself out fully soon too! Thanks again and hope to bump into you at another one!
Thank you! I do love a good medal to be honest. Something nice and chunky. But in some cases I’d rather have no medal but pay less. There’s a couple of race organisers do that and I think that’s great - getting an official time but for much cheaper than other races. What I hate is paying a normal amount for a race and just getting given a beermat on a shoelace
I watched Craig’s video last night then saw yours just now. Tho I love both of your channels, I’d say you gave a more realistic view of what it was actually like 😂. And a wooden medal? No thanks
@@conradburdekin722 ha yes. Thing is some of those paths are so narrow you can’t overtake anyone if you wanted to. I guess starting up front is key if you’re going for it
I’ve run this for the last two years but this year managed to double-book a social event, and for some reason the phrase “I need to run around the Surrey Hills in the dark” was not a good enough reason to duck out… it can be a bit seat of the pants in terms of organisation but worth it just for the view over Dorking as you crest over the top of the final hill. Come back in the summer and do the daylight version!
Oh mate I agree those views are incredible… when you can see them! Well done for doing it before. I need a better headtorch to be fair but at least my £40 shoes were up to the task! Daylight next time though I reckon. Thanks for watching!
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm sick of people taking dogs on these types of events. Seriously, can they not bear to leave the dog with someone else for a few hours? It's particularly annoying when they're not controlled. Great video and very entertaining. New subscriber and enjoying the content so far.
I’m not actually a fan of dogs myself to be honest. In general or on races. Funnily I did mention the dogs in my round up but I cut it because I thought I’d moaned enough! Much appreciated! Thank you
Ahhh, the ol’ night trail run. Sounds fun until it’s not. My last was a 20k and, due to the very rough terrain, I fell 9 times. 😬 I admit some of those were my fault, but still…tough race. Good to see you made it relatively unscathed. Have you ever tried the lamp that attaches to your chest? If not, I highly recommend checking them out. I’ve found they’re much brighter and more comfortable. Anyway, nice work on another top-notch running documentary film, Rich!
Thanks again Blake! Oof 9 times! Yes I could’ve come out a lot worse I think but I could see better than that video suggested. I think a chest lamp is a fab idea thank you!
Ridiculous organisation that could lead to avoidable injuries so not a race I'd consider anytime soon unless I stuck with a well lit group of runners. Fair play for sticking at it though and thanks for the heads up. Dislike eco wooden medals too.
I don't care how many times I see it, but the surprise greeting is hilarious every time!
haha thanks mate! I tried a variation this time but I think I prefer the original classic approach
@@TheRichKeebleLOL I enjoyed the variation but yes, I think the original is the most elite option
@@JM-rm3lt thank you I will rectify this mistake on the next one
‘Looking forward to it?’. ‘Really not’. Beautiful.
Thank you. We’re all about honesty on this channel. And negativity.

It's nice to see you're a fan of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Gone, but not forgotten.
Absolutely. Massive royalists here, but only with the Elizabeths specifically.
I’ve said it before and I’ll I’ll say it again, this is real running. This run looked like utter chaos 😂
Thank you! It really was!
On a scale of 1 to ffs, how much did you enjoy that one? 😅 Good to see Craig there. I'm sure he finished 3rd in a recent race, possibly that one.
Oh a full ffs I’d say. So fffs. Yes Craig finished 3rd here. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d done a recent 3rd elsewhere too
Hahaha. Awesome footage of the race. About the medals: I'd prefer no medals. My wife throws them out anyway when I'm not looking.

Fair enough. However, for entertainment purposes, I would love to see them handing out paper mache medals to you.
@@jeroenschmit haha! Oh I think I’d go mental. I’d have to say something. About them, to my wife afterwards.
Great audiobook 😂😂 thank you for making the video, was very funny as always 🙌🤩
aw thanks again guys! Much appreciated. Hope you're well x
Man that looked grim, and I was in 'Nam.
🤣🤣🤣
This is hilarious! 👏🏻
Thanks Alex! Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Conrad! Yeah Craig and I had very different experiences! He did very well to be fair. But yeah, these wooden medals… 🙄
@@TheRichKeeble he did amazingly didn’t he?! Breezing along without trouble. Meanwhile, I’d have been face planting into the barbed wire…

I've never quite appreciated how many shades of black there are until now.
Oh yes, dark black, deep black, black black… all here. Thanks for your appreciationing!
