U can actually start pretty short and its no trouble no “difficulties” i started mine pretty sure and without problems they grew well and locked easily. I started with 2 Strand twist. My hair grew to about hapf way down my back til I decided to cut it.

If your hair is in the 4 type range then it's not hard to start dreads with short hair. Also if you want neat sections with your hair, i recommend coil twisting or 2 strand twisting.

If you can get through that first month, or the first 3 months, you can get through anything. I started mines with 2 strand twists, almost combed mines out after 2 months but I'm glad I didn't. I'm on my 8th month now. I recommend starting with 2 strand twist, you can wash your hair after 2 weeks with a shampoo but do not use a conditioner. If your hair unrevels, you can twist it back up if necessary, it'll loc eventually

  • @ManeThingz

Heres my tip, start with the amount he said to start with. 1) 2 strand twist it. Take two pieces and twist. Leave it alone and twist it back if necessary and put something on the end of each twist, a clip or rubberband, hair tye. 2). Wait a week/2 weeks and wash the roots ONLY by putting all the twisted pieces in a ponytail so that during washing, only the roots are getting attention. Conditioning is up to you. But do not untwist anything. U will have matted and locked hair in all of your twists and u can continue your dread journey, from there.
