They wouldn’t have even stopped play(maybe). It’s like we’ve all gotten so used to seeing this Ole defense in the NHL where nobody takes the body(EVER), that when somebody does throw an actual check, it’s a like a crime has been committed. • @BebopMansion
    @BebopMansion 5 днів тому +10

    I love how the saying is always "keep your head up" or "his head was down". Peterka's head wasn't down, he was looking at the play as any other player would do.
    Putting the blame on Peterka not looking up is like putting the blame on a driver looking at his lane and getting rammed by a truck that was in the opposite lane. The truck, Dillon in that instance, should not be allowed to hit a player that doesn't have the puck, simple as that.
    Also BTW, you can get a concussion by taking a hit on the body at a huge force. You don't need to be hit on the head. I personally don't care whether or not the hit touched the head, the fact is it's a dangerous hit and it lead to a concussion.
    I don't completely disagree with people "defending" Dillon. It's the NHL's fault for treating interference like this as any other mundane interference.

    • @AddictedToPain-x1i
      @AddictedToPain-x1i 5 днів тому

      This analogy is so dumb.. for one, if he had his head up and he was actually looking at the play, why did he literally skate right into that hit without Dillon having to move or track him at all?
      Furthermore, your analogy of someone trying to drive while looking at the road ahead and then getting swiped from a blind angle is idiotic when you consider the fact that Dillon was literally right in front of him.. This is more like someone driving down their lane with someone right in front of them.. But the person in front of them comes to a stop and they basically just run right into them. That's a better analogy and better paints how stupid your argument is 😅
      How are you about to argue that this is the equivalent of someone getting struck from a blind side when Dillon was right in front of him 😅

      Rule is not time. It's possession. When contact by Dillon is made, Thompson has the puck. That alone doesn't make it interference, but Dillon has to be committed and unable to avoid the hit when Peterka passes off. From my perspective, and clearly the ref's, Dillon has time to back out of that hit after the pass and doesn't. That makes it interference.
      What I don't get is, how do you call that interference, see that the player is clearly injured after significant head contact (itself not illegal, but still a factor in the call) and still say that's only 2. To me, either you call that within the grace period and not call it interference, or you make that a 5.

      The Department of Player Safety video is public and available for you to watch. The only point relating to the ice infraction and the subsequent suspension was the interference on the play. I repeat, there was no charging, attempt to injure or other offense on the play. Hartman got *suspended for interference* (not ''interface''.
      One last note, junior. It's on Peterka to know about his surroundings, it's not on Dillon to worry about a player heading straight towards him to see him coming. The case could be different if it was a blindside hit, but it's straight in front of him, and Peterka's skating path.

  • @incumbentvinyl9291
    @incumbentvinyl9291 4 дні тому

    Love the hit! I also think the response from Tuch was about as good as could be in the situation in case of a fight, as he clearly challenges Dillon and drops the gloves first and well before reaching Dillon, and he raises up to the challenge as he should. Glad to see there was no instigator on the play and I would actually guess that there would only have been a ten minute misconduct penalty for Tuch for dropping the gloves and going at Dillon without swinging too hard, in case Dillon kept his gloves on for some reason.
    This is what hockey needs.
