  • I thought about it a lot and so I tried a menstrual cup and I got REAL honest about my first time.
Warning: I do get a bit TMI and this is definitely not a video my family should watch haha.
Disclaimer: this was my first time using this, I used the Saalt Menstrual Cup in size Small. No first time is supposed to be easy and it will likely feel a bit daunting. Don't let this video put you off trying it, although I'm sure it will. I have since used it and admittedly I'm not still not 100%, I'm way less traumatised and scared of it and I will persist with it because I have heard once you get the hang of it, it is life changing... so keep an eye out for my final impressions...
Please let me know if you've used this before, I would love to hear what you thought.

I don't concider it TMI. We are all women here, I assume. So we all deal with the same stuff and every man that finds himself here, can maybe learn a thing or two. I am a woman who hardly ever had female friends and therefore no one to speak to about any problems.
My last bf was one of those AHs that thought it was gross to bleed. When I confronted him, he denied it. But yes, I should have gotten rid of him sooner than I did. May he rest in hell.
We need to talk more among women. But to do it on camera deserves quite some courage. Cos that is personal. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Well done!

I almost never comment on videos, so this is a big deal for me personally. Well done for proper realist consumer advice and really putting yourself out there. I've been thinking about trying a cup but always shied away for this exact set of reasons. And above all things, THANK YOU for not being air brushed and flawless while talking about awkward feminine subjects because those people lose credibility very fast. Who the fuck is that perfect looking during their period??? I feel like you actually tried this thing during your period and this is how it went down! Well done! And your videos are are always wonderful, whether they make me laugh or they make me feel like someone sees me. :)

First time using mine (diva cup) it was weird and terrifying, had a sweat on, and took several attempts to get it to feel normal. But once you chill out it works a lot better and definitely easier to go in slightly wet from the tap. It took a couple of periods to get it down to an art so if it isn't working straight away don't be disheartened it may take practice to figure out the best method for your body. I can't sing praises enough for it as it has eliminated pretty much all the bad period pain and back pain I used to experience, no fear of TSS, saves so much money and a hell of a lot of plastic over a lifetime so definitely one of my best eco conscious changes I've made!

How do you know when you need to empty it? Is it just at the end of the day? I guess you sleep with it too. I guess this wouldn’t work for me, I have a prolapse after giving birth to my son 12 years ago., I struggle with tampons. Mmmmm good money saver tho.

When I first used my cup, I put it in and INSTANTLY took it right out as it felt so uncomfortable. I decided to try it a bit later when the initial shock had worn off and use mine all the time now and have for close to a year. There are still times when it just doesn't sit right and I get that same feeling you speak of and I get it out and redo it. It also took me awhile to fully trust it

The period pants have been godsend for my wife. She always had horrid rashes from pads and was terrified of tampons. We discussed trying the cups but she didn't want to try those. I ended up buying her a few pair of period pants to try and she immediately had me buy more. We experimented with several brands and the ones that worked best for her were Knix. No more rashes, they are comfortable, they hold a LOT of fluid. We have several packages of pads now unopened in the closet that may never see the light of day again. Even though they cost a lot, they are well worth it and even great for heavy discharge days.

Before I had my full hysterectomy due to a cancer diagnosis, I used one of those (though the brand name was Diva Cup) I actually didn't mind it. It's like using tampons that don't have an applicator for the first few times - once you get it in the right place you know how it's supposed to feel and know if it's placed wrong and can retry. But good on you for doing this video - you did great!

First tried Ruby cup now use SALT soft which I like a lot more. Before choosing a size you need to check where your cervix is at during different times in cycle - another thing I learned from PACII. I don't know how people get these issues with menstrual cups. Yes I did get a little claustrophobic when I was trying to get it out the first time, but it's a learning curve, and it comes out just fine if you relax and push a little bit. I cut off the stem because i could feel that part, and other than that, no issues and I loved the product! Unfortunately I found it too late as I had only a few years left of menstruating. Imagine how much easier things would have been if I found it earlier. I used the Fleur cup, and tried another one before that that I didn't like that much. They all have a little bit different shape and hardness to them, so you have to find the one that fits you.

  • @miesmoes62

Warning 😱 if you have an IUD, don't use a menstrual cup!!!
Sorry, feels weird throwing it out here, but I've had this combination (loved it, no hormones, no trash, it was lovely) but apparently you can very easily pull out your IUD (without even noticing it) it got me pregnant, which I really tried to avoid 😔 down at the abortion clinic (which was a horrible thing to go through even though I was very sure I do not want to become a mother) there was a girl next to me in the exact same situation.. We both did not notice the IUD getting pulled out.
Studies have come out more and more in the past year about this, and doctors are starting to warn women that this is a big risk.
Just wanted to put it out here, and hopefully maybe help someone to not get in the same trouble as I was.
    ...
That being said, I really enjoy your videos, you've got me laughing out loud every time with your body parts talking to each other, it's so on point, you're really funny, and I wish you all the best in your life and comedy career 💛

The plastic was my reason too. And I know from movies and stuff that tampons in the US have these whole huge plastic around them to insert them. And I was like....??? What? What for? You have a finger, you can feel your body and not hurt you with some strange plastic object.. Our tampons are wrapped in plastic. Very tight, little, water rejecting foil. But there are some companies who sell them in paper. They were not on the shelfs for too long. Sadly, cos I likes them. Can't wait for the underwear video now😅

Then I used the A size but it gave me horrible period cramps, so I went back to a mini size and it fitted perfectly and it never leaks now. I think that if the cup is too big it actually migh be painfull and make you even sick, this is what I have experienced. By the way I am using a punch down fuld and this is easier for me. When taking it out you can use your stomach mussels to kind of birth it out before reaching with your fingers, and it might be helpful.

So funny 😮😁☺ I love how honest, open and hilarious you are explaining things, I am so glad I found you. You made me laugh even when my dad passed away, and those were really bad times for me. I was very lacking in the sense of humour department.

I had a terrible time first time. I thought it was stuck up there forever. It gave me worse cramps for the first time. I was determined to get it to work , and it took about 2 to 3 cycles for me to adjust. I've been using it now for 6 years now and will never go back to pads and tampons.
Heavy days I use period pants and the cup. It has seriously changed my period and given me that week back.

I've been using a cup for years and I love it. The first few tries are complicated, but honestly, I'll never go back. If you do some kegols (not sure on spelling) while taking the cup out, it helps push it down so you can get it out easier.

You are very brave, haha, and that's why I love you and your videos, and yup, we definitely came for the TMI- I have wanted to try one of these just for the amount of time you can go, and use the bathroom without issue, (and of course the waste, I cringe every time I toss an applicator...) but even tampons hurt to put in, so I worry mostly about getting it in, I don't do well with that aspect, haha, I don't really want to get that familiar with my who, that's just me, we've made it this far on a need to whatever basis, so I don't want to get all up in her business if I can avoid it- that's my biggest worry, after it not coming out, AND I have heard the seal of the suction breaking can actually really hurt?
You are brave, my friend, braver than I, and I thank you for it, haha!
Totally feeling the tiny drum, BTW, points for creative sustainability, haha!

I love mine! It’s so comfortable and once you figure it out it’s really very easy. If you were uncomfortable then you probably didn’t get it up high enough. As for getting it in and out, perhaps experiment with different positions. I find sitting on the toilet to be most comfortable, followed by standing with one leg up. Keep trying! And thank you for sharing your journey ❤

Just had to know! 🤣 I had a similar experience with the diaphragm...do they even use them anymore???! It flew across the room and was full of dust and stuff! 😰 I tried one more time after that but not that day! 🤣 I just could not get it where it needed to be with most of the same things you had done!!! Love the videos! The shorts are hilarious! I have not laughed like that in quite awhile. Shared them. You should share these things because it helps some of us who have similar circumstances to know we are not alone. ❤

Oh dear, this is so amusing somehow :D
I have been using a menstrual cup since I was probably 15 years old and I don't rememer my first time with it. Big perk for me: It does not dry me out while not having that gross feeling of blood trickling out of you (sorry).
I have been using a MeLuna and then a Merula, because my flow got very heavy since I got an IUD. Sadly the cup might have been part of the reason why my IUD was rejected by my body, now I have another one and I am strongly adviced not to use any cups because of the suction. So I use panties and reusable washable pads, but every time blood trickles down there, I cringe and I hate it. Maybe I might try out a menstrual disk, since they don't require suction...

When you talked about removing it i thought: I am sure someone out there tried to pull it out by using that rubber nipple, lost grip and slapped her huha with it - imagine the pain! O_o
Anyway, i still don‘t know if it really is a good alternative - keep us updated, pls!

Iam using my menstrual cup already almost a year and I love it, but Yeah I thougt once that I have lost it. AND really it was like half an hour to take it ou (no, not really, some abiut 3 min xD). I can tell you only one thing, you must find the best position to you to put it in and take it out. For me for example the best way is sitting on toilet, my best friend do it in half squat. You must just try many variants :) Have fun! Loving to watching you! :) You always make my days better :)

I’ve been using menstrual cups for years now. There is definitely a learning curve with it. I have quite a few of them and some of them are more comfortable than others. Plus the first time was weird and was a bit scary/painful. The type I use the most doesn’t use as much suction to come out - but apparently they’re discontinued which sucks because they’re the best for comfort.

  • @aryabolton2949

Try the flex disk. I had trouble keeping it in, but they're actually pretty comfortable, and my experience seems to be the exception, not the rule. I know a few girls who use them, and they love ❤ them. I'm gonna try again. Also they say practicing insertion and then moving around when you're not on your period, then by the time aunty flow comes around you'll be a pro! Please let us know if it goes better the second time, this video was fantastic 👏 👌 I'm sure many of us can relate 100 percent 😀

I've given up on the cup. even after 2 vaginal births I still couldn't handle it. the pain was unbearable. I was advised to switch to a smaller cup and I basically experienced everything you just described with the smaller cup. It made my already painful periods absolutely excruciating. at one point I was in so much pain, I couldn't get off the couch to go take it out. It took 2 Midol's and a heating pad cranked on high for 30 minutes before I could move again. I felt less pain during labor. Honestly, the cup just made my endometriosis way worse. I've dealt with painful periods for 30 years and I never experienced pain like that until I tried the cup. I've heard other people rave about how amazing it is, but it didn't work for me. so I would say try at your own risk.

The cup is the best decision I ever made with period products. I love it, it actually makes me look forward to having my period...I know strange. It has a learning curve, but after 3 periods I felt very comfortable with it. I always bled through with pads and tampons, but with the cup it doesn't happen. I still always wear a panty liner just in case cause I have had occasional leaks, but that is only when I dont have it in and sealed correctly. After using it awhile you really learn more how to insert, use, and remove it in the correct way for yourself. Its like anything else everyone has their own way of doing it. Don't give up after one bad experience, you may end up really liking it.

It took a while to get the hang of, but I loved mine (menopausal now, so a thing of the past).
You absolutely have to break that vacuum when you take it out - even more so if it's nowhere near full - but if you don't have lube, water is OK. I recommend getting the nominated finger as far up as you dare...
You do have to overcome a lot of squick to use these, but in my opinion it was well worth it for the cost saving/convenience/saving the environment.

Alright, so you’re never supposed to feel very much suction. I’ve used the diva cup for years now and what I do, and the diva cup and lily cup are longer, is I push it higher in there. No stem showing. Once it is open inside, you run your finger along the rim if you feel too much suction. It loosens the suction. It will hurt so bad if you let it go on with that much suction. But yes, adjust it once it is inside. I put it in during my morning shower and take it out after i get home from work. Of course there are times where I have to take it out at work but I wash my hands and I pull it out over the toilet and dump it and stick it right back in.

I find the easiest way to extract it is to sit on the toilet and bare down using your pelvic floor muscles until it gets to a point where you can grab it. Also the punch down fold makes for a smaller point for insertion. Running cold water on it before insertion will stiffen the silicone making it easier to pop open.

Please don't start using a cup when you have an IUD 😱 you can pull it out with the suction of the cup, and weirdly enough, you don't feel it happening. It's something medics have found out in the last year. It happened to me, and got me pregnant while I thought I was safe.
      Please be careful 💛
