I have been working at an rv dealership over a year. I was told they don’t make rebuild kits from the parts guy at work. Recently I got to take home a jack that was replaced under warranty and figured I’d take it apart to see if I can come up with replacement o rings from parts stores and then one at a time repair the jacks on my trailer. My front ones have bled off slowly since it was new. Annoying being woke up at night to a creeking frame. However lately my trailer falls down not all the way but just as fast as I get it level. Ugggh. And I live in it inside a shop at home now that I’m not traveling the country for construction work.
Dang! Yeah that's super annoying. We also couldn't find a rebuild kit so we decided to see if we could just fix it ourselves. It's been about 7 months since we fixed it and its holding up just fine! Good luck with yours!
Mines leaking at the bottom, there's another o-ring on the plunger that slides up and down inside the tube. The top ones you replaced must hold a tight seal to force the plunger down.
Great video guys! When we got our 5th wheel I specifically sought after electric jacks. When you own an RV park and see the hydraulic jacks constantly failing every day, it motivates ya to go the other route haha! Bring more content!
So was there any line bleeding, or did it just work when you hooked it back up? I have a jack leaking in the passenger center position. It seems like it may be coming from the same area yours was, but not nearly as bad. I think I’m going to put 6 new tires on our rig next week. The two in back are shot, but the other 4 are a couple years old, and I’m thinking I should do them all together. Putting just 2 on would save me a grand though. I’m kind of going back and forth.
It’s brutal. I’m going from some G rated Chinese tires to E rated Goodyears. I’ve been seeing the Goodyears on the new Momentums, and they have the same GVWR as we do, so I hope I’ll be fine. They’re rated the same as my axels too. It hasn’t been an easy decision. They’re sitting at the shop waiting on me. I was going to get them today, but we had rain all day, and I didn’t feel like working under my camper in the rain. I finally grabbed my floor jack too, when we passed by our house last week. I can’t believe I got away without it for 2 years.
I have the same jacks as you. The front driver jacks is bleeding off internally and losing pressure. I know it’s that Jack because I just replaced the front passenger Jack and have the same problem. Could doing this exact process fix the internal leak?
I have been mechanic for 37 years now. Best thing to do is locate a hydraulic repair or supply shop near you and take your old o-rings in to match them up. Hydraulic o-rings are made from a harder material than o-rings that you buy from Harbor Freight and such. They have to withstand higher pressures and higher heat in some circumstances. My main point is make sure the o-rings you are going back together with are the harder o-rings designed for the pressures.
Not sure why the latest rage is all these UA-camrs thinking that we want to watch married bickering and bitching back and forth, it’s annoying as hell.
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
Anyone looking to have a Lippert hydraulic jack completely rebuilt, S&T Hydraulics, Phoenix AZ, under $200.

Did you ever make that list?
He told you the wrong way I heard him 😂
Indeed I did… oops 😂

Where did you get the o ring kit
That's the 8 dollar question
Great job!

Thanks so much! Our last trailer was electric jacks and actually had way more issues with them.
@@FindingLifesAdventure ah yall that stinks! Glad y'all are back on the road and good to go! Can't wait to see y'all soon!
Where did you get the O rings, and how did you know the size? Thanks
most big cities have a hydraulic custom hose shop..bring the end or cylinder to them. Peace of cake for them to match up.

No line bleeding
It’s nice to do all at once, but that’s a hard pill to swallow money wise

It’s recommended to leave jack’s completely extended for two hours for air bubbles to get out.

it should fix it, but make sure you take the rod out too and replace the orings on it as well
I just finished holding and installing a rack to haul my sxs while towing my fifth wheel. Did you truck feel too heavy after you installed your rack?
Nice! We don't even notice its up there. When we have the sxs up there without the camper it feels a little top heavy but either way not bad at all.
Do you recall the size of o-rings you replaced, and where did you find them at? Great video, gave me the opportunity to see how the top end comes off.
Not sure just found a size in the kit we had that fit. Glad you enjoyed it. It was a learning experience for both of us then! 😂😂
Hello fellow RVers,
Where did you get the “O” rings??
From a o-ring kit I had. I’m not exactly sure where I got the kit, I think harbor freight
What o rings did you use?
Forget the diagram. Take pictures...🙂
When in doubt, look at the one on the other side too
Where did you buy your o rings?
Pretty sure we just got a variety pack from Amazon
